Greetings from the east side of I-95 here in NC where there are more hogs than people. The hog farmers around here would not bring their prized swine to the Craven County Ag Fair in fear that the patrons would give them the swine flu. There are a lot of goats, sheep, bovines and chickens but no hogs.

The Times (UK) online has a link to a poll as to whether you agree with the Copenhagen Climate Conference or you would just rather skip it. Vote.  Guess what is winning nearly 5 to 1?

I think Peggy hit a few, but also missed a few:

It is never a good sign when the president gets folksy, dropping his
g's, because he is by nature not a folksy g-dropper but a coolly
calibrating intellectual who is always trying to guess, as most
politicians do, what normal people think. When Mr. Obama gets folksy he
isn't narrowing his distance from his audience but underlining it. He
shouldn't do this.

• I agree, partially, but she almost infers his "sophistication-excess" that he has over his constituents that doesn't play well with the average folks. Her point may work in the setting- Dem fundraisers- but not in every setting. 

Does he come across as too weak? It is true, as the cliché has it, that
it's helpful for a president to be both revered and feared. But this
president is not weak, that's not his problem. He willed himself into
the presidency with an adroit reading of the lay of the land, brought
together and dominated all the constituent pieces of victory, showed
and shows impressive self-discipline, seems in general to stick to a
course once he's chosen it, though arguably especially when he's wrong.

• This president did not will himself into the presidency- that's giving him way too much credit, and ignoring her own glowing bios of him during the campaign. We all know he got elected as the anti-GOP (Bush/Rove/Cheney/War/Economy/etc.)- basically, the bizzaro candidate. That was bound to happen, regardlesss of the nominee. Hillary wouldn've won. Hell, Edwards would've won with Rielle Hunter taking the official WH family photos. He won the nomination with the help of the media.

All his adult life he's played the long game, which takes patience and skill.

• Huh? He's what? 48? He's been installed in every position he's had. Sure, there's some personal achievement, but without the prop up his rearend, he'd be chasing ambulances like so many other Harvard Law graduates.

Once again, tempering the criticism  is a smathering of excuses, even in a piece cloaked with a "you've run out of excuses" theme.

The reason he still has a reasonably high personal favorability rating is because people still want to give him the benefit of the doubt and hold on to the hope that we'll truly become a post-racial nation. The reason his job approval rating has fallen so fast is because he's never actually held a job, and has never been judged on personal acheivement. He has effectively written novel after novel creating a narrative for his life that he is "trying" to acheive for "us." Instead, we're not seeing the results and the only thing proving to be "transparent" is Barack Obama. We've known it for the better part of two years, but independents are just now beginning to see through him.

Sean is smarter than to put himself and FOX on the hotseat by making a statement that serious without some real meat involved.

If the alledged emails actually came from the WH they would eventually surface, so I doubt they originated there. Maybe from a WH 'insider'.

The Democratic party makes the Keystone Cops look like a precision drill team and 'their' Congress wins the Rube Goldberg award.

Watch as I gleefully pick this apart! First of all, Obama did not "inherit" a damn thing. An inheritance is received without any effort or choice. He chose to seek the presidency. As Ms. Dowd puts it, "He willed himself into the presidency with an adroit reading of the lay of the land." (Of course it was more due to the efforts of others, but that's another subject.)

She goes on to say that "The problem isn't his personality, it's his policies," which "reflect a misreading of the political terrain." This contradicts her assessment of him as a "cooly calibrating intellectual" whose political skills are "adroit."

In truth, the problem is his personality and his policies.

Failure has been the head of the snake that caused this rubble since as a state senator he colluded with F raines, B frank, C dodd, freddie, fannie and ACORN to name a few, to destroy the American economy. In other words he owned it from before the day he botched his lying swearing in as totus.

I have come to the conclusion that I have to declare him a failure and a National emergency that must needs be removed IF the USA is going to see any improvement and any kind of economic turnaround. It's time to impeach this enemy of our great country and constitution and bring back the America we were born to and rid ourselves of his lowlife muslim commie vision of his dictatorship.

Advised by the Pope that there was no such prize, St. Barack told the Pope that was OK, he would easily make it up with a book deal, but the Pope would have to write a blurb for the book jacket. The Pope agreed, if St. Barack would autograph the book for him and throw in two magic teleprompters. Done. Sainthood had not dulled the Uniter-in-Chief's keen ability to negotiate and bring people together.

But there was more negotiating, according to the source:

St. Barack said he wanted St. Peter's Square rebuilt and expanded to make room for all his adoring followers on the day of his canonization ceremony in the square. And he wanted the name of the square changed to St. Barack's Square, along with the name of St. Peter's Basilica changed to St. Barack's Basilica. And he wanted the exclusive use of the square and basilica for all his future campaign rallies. The Pope politely declined but countered with letting St. Barack dress up like the Pope for the canonization, complete with pointed mitre and golden staff, and agreeing to kiss St. Barack's ring. That was a good start, but no deal, said St. Barack, according to the source.

St. Barack said he also wanted his image put on all Vatican coins and he wanted his birthday, August 4, designated as a holy day of obligation for all Catholics around the world. His divine patience wearing thin, the Pope agreed, and the two men at last broke into a chorus of Yes We Can, in Gregorian chant.

Now we may all pray to St. Barack, the Accomplished and the Humble.

These "students" don't like dirty energy. So, they are willing to sleep outside for one night -- before they go back to the comfort of their own homes, apts, or dorms.

If I was their parent, funding any part of their "education", I can guarantee they would not receive an additional penny from me. Ever. For anything. Any child of mine that grew up to be so stupid deserves to make it on their own, all the while avoiding "dirty energy".
