For general discussion and debate. Possible talking point: at least one celebrity has no sympathy for rapist Roman Polanski.
"If it had been my daughter who was barely a teenager - my daughter is 15 - Roman Polanski would be missing ... period," [actor Jamie] Foxx stated in an interview with Parade magazine. "It wouldn't even get to the court case. But, that's me and I wouldn't want anyone else to follow that because you should let the justice system work it out."
What do you think? Street justice for Polanski?

October 13, 2009 - 09:07 ET by AJBI thought Jamie was going to tart up his daughter and get her to start having sex with boys. Isn't that what he said should happen to Miley Cyrus? Why, all of a sudden, does he think it's not right? Yeah, another liberal hypocrit.
Yeah, but he's speaking
October 13, 2009 - 09:42 ET by BettendorYeah, but he's speaking like a father would. I would be pondering the same thing he said he did if it had happened to any daughter of mine.
As far as his earlier comments about Miley Cyrus, well, let's just say people say and advocate things for kids most wouldn't normally wish on their own kids (if they have any).

October 13, 2009 - 17:29 ET by gmaniac1You make a good point AJB and I expound on it even more. I don't think Foxx really has a problem with Polanski but is trying to make up for what he said about Cyrus. He's nothing more than liberal trash and if he didn't make it as an actor, he'd probably be on one of those ACORN videos defending underage prostitution. I ain't buying this at all.

October 13, 2009 - 09:44 ET by Dan The Man 2I guess Foxx is reverting back to his Texas heritage where pedophiles just dont have a long lifespan if they get caught ith the wrong kid. I give kudos to Foxx for speaking out but he still has the mentality that its ok with other peoples kids. He only said "If it had been my daughter who was barely a teenager - my daughter is 15 - Roman Polanski would be missing ... period" which doesnt take into account for others daughters or sons.
Basically Foxx is still a pinhead to put it in Bill O terms.

October 13, 2009 - 09:50 ET by Dan The Man 2OK, open mike today. I am a bit confused on what the congress is voting on for a healthcare bill. From what I get they have a skimpy outline of principles and statements and have no meat in it yet. And this is what our congress critters are voting on. Supposedly this is so they dont have to post the meat and taters of the bill and have people pour over it.
Basically they and we the people are being handed a blank piece of paper and asked to sign it saying we have read and agree to the terms.
Now what fool would do that?

October 13, 2009 - 10:07 ET by motherbeltI've often thought that "fitting justice" for men who do this to young girls would be to lock them in a room with three guys who have daughters (Doug Giles would certainly be one of them, if I had my way).

As to Bunker Busting Bombs and the rush for them by our military.
I don't think the primary use is for Iran as the news media suggests.
I think they will be used for taking the tops of mountains in Afghanistan in an effort to flush out the enemy and to destroy their hiding places.
WE need the HIGH GROUND!
NEVER again should our commanders leave our brave fighting men as the BASE on MOUNTAINS while the enemy has the higher ground using their advantage to use our troops like ducks in a shooting gallery.
Even if we get those bombs we don't have an administration wiilling to use them.

October 13, 2009 - 10:45 ET by Roger the ShrubberThis shrubber will sleep much better now that some of the Nobel jurors explained why Obama got the Peace Prize...
The money shot:
We simply disagree that he has done nothing," committee chairman Thorbjoern Jagland told the AP on Tuesday. "He got the prize for what he has done."
Jagland singled out Obama's efforts to heal the divide between the West and the Muslim world and scale down a Bush-era proposal for an anti-missile shield in Europe.
"All these things have contributed to — I wouldn't say a safer world — but a world with less tension," Jagland said by phone from Strasbourg, where he was attending meetings in his other role as secretary-general of the Council of Europe.

October 13, 2009 - 13:34 ET by JPR1Now that I’ve been enlightened as to the flaws in my reasoning my tension is way down and I should be able to skip my meds tonight.
I was under the mistaken assumption that a system designed to thwart the hostile action of one of the worlds bad actors, (by positioning little missiles where they could shoot down big missiles) was a good thing.
Now these wise and benevolent sages have told me that curtailing the deployment of such a system constitutes “making peace” and that very soon several centuries of Muslim animosity toward the West will simply evaporate.
It all makes sooo much sense now.
Hmmmm, maybe just a half dose.
Here's more liberal
October 13, 2009 - 10:48 ET by dscottHere's more liberal incompetence:
U.S. Begins Official Effort to Destabilize Pakistan
...Holbrooke is canceling successful programs run by U.S. contractors
and preparing to bypass them by giving large sums to local
organizations with shaky financial track records.
Holbrooke, the top civilian overseeing Obama administration policy
on Afghanistan and Pakistan, has asked to personally approve every
project funding renewal involving U.S. contractors, Callison wrote —
and “the disapprovals already received are shockingly
counterproductive.”
This is typical of liberal agendas, divert government money to your friends, allies, campaign contributors and yourself if you can, in the process nothing constructive gets done. So it looks like in 2012 a Republican POTUS will be elected to once again clean up the mess left by self dealing Democrats, the party of sleaze and corruption.
Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, starving the poor one gallon of ethanol at a time. Fill your tank with E85 and cull a village.
Re incompetence
October 13, 2009 - 11:04 ET by slickwillie2001That kind of incompetence is extremely dangerous. We are still dealing with the mess left by the merdivorous Jimmy Carter. The Bamster is just beginning his reign of incompetence. Let's elect Presidents based on competence, not to make some kind of a feel-good liberal gesture.
The Financial Times pointing out the Bamster's dangerous weakness:
Obama Must Start Punching Harder: http://www.ft.com
Unfortunately the writer suggests that "Mr Obama now needs to pick a fight in public – and win it with a clean knock-out." How idiotic; pick a fight just to show how tough you are? How many times have you seen a bully try that, and then lose? What if the Bamster picks a fight and loses, and I'm not talking Fox News here?
We are going to see a ratcheting up of challenges to the Bamster internationally. Thus far he has spectacularly failed every one of them.

October 13, 2009 - 14:27 ET by BKeyserI don't know how many of you checked this photoshop out late last night (not many since there's only been 67 views thus far; most of my shops get between 400 and 1500 views)- and now it's already past the 24 hour news cycle, but I actually thought this was one of my more humorous ones- mostly because of Biden's coy smile. Anyway- the context was the Gay March on DC, and the wrath heaped on the administration for apparently not being gay enough. No offense intended- that's just the way it seemed to be presented.
Well, since the WH doesn't take criticism lying down, and always feels the needs to patronize their base, I put this little shop (of horrors) together depicting their pushback on the charges of non-repsonsiveness toward the LGBT community. Here's Axelrod, Barry, Jennings, Biden, Rahmbo, and Gibbs showing their support- by way of the full monty. Oh, this may not be safe for work.
