Politico Threatening Conservative Blogger with Lawsuit

  • Bookmark and Share

The Politico is threatening blogger Stephen Gutowski with legal action to wrest control of his TheCollegePolitico.com domain on trademark infringement grounds.

Gutowski -- full disclosure: he serves as the content editor for the Media Research Center's EyeBlast.tv -- gives readers details and offers his argument for why the claim by Politico is specious here at his blog.

You can catch Gutowski live on Breitbart.tv's "The B-Cast" Web program at 5:15 p.m. EDT by clicking this link or watching the video embedded below the page break:

I'd be a little more

I'd be a little more worried if the Politico had an intrinsic value, but it's simply an elitist media circle jerk...of no worth to anyone but to those who produce it.

"I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered."  -George Best

The first time I remember

The first time I remember seeing the word "politico" was in Anthony Burgess' A Clockwork Orange.

Can't see how this term is copyrightable.  But there again, maybe The Politico has some former Disney or RIAA lawyers working for them, so in that case even the word "God" can be owned.

One of the 34% who thinks George W. Bush was a great President. One of the 86% who wants to bring back the stock and pillory.

Sounds like a valid lawsuit

Sounds like a valid lawsuit to me!  I can't tell you how many times I have tried to get to the politically biting and witty politico.com by accidently typing "TheCollegePolitico.com" instead! very frustrating!!

Pewbusters.org?

Ha Ha! Team!!

"The bureaucracy is growing to meet the needs of the growing bureaucracy"

Who was first, Mythbusters or Newsbusters?

Actually, it was the

Actually, it was the much-maligned Buster's BusterBusters.

He trademarked it first, and we pay royalties.
