"The media must expose Obama's calculated scare tactics and lying on 'reform.' Failing to do so gives him a green light to lie and cry wolf about whatever he wants, whenever he wants," Media Research Center President Brent Bozell asserted in a statement released today.
The NewsBusters publisher explained:
Last night Obama told a litany of lies. He said the total cost of his health reform would be $900 billion over ten years, but even the government-run Congressional Budget Office found it would cost $1.6 trillion. He claimed his reform would not cover illegal immigrants or abortions, but nothing in any of the Democrat bills requires citizen verification and several organizations including the National Right to Life Committee have shown exactly how federal funds would be used to pay for abortion-on-demand. He knows these are lies and he tells them because he is confident the left wing ‘news' media will let him get away with it.
Story Continues Below Ad ↓Worst still, Obama used these lies to play on Americans greatest fears and vulnerabilities. He warned that more people would die unless we passed his sweeping plan and threatened that our country's economic pulse would weaken with American businesses closing. And still, the media let him get away with it.

September 10, 2009 - 11:10 ET by MaximusBraveheartAnd McCain this AM on Today saying O didn't lie that he found no where where illegals would be covered, and that his fellow REP was wrong for saying you lie to Obama. That really helped. He didn't find it because he white washes over the truth. He did not turn on Pallin but sure could have been more boldly spoken. Too timid and easy to dismiss. M-B

September 10, 2009 - 11:34 ET by SentryDanMaximus, McCain is an "Opportunist". I was going to say that McCain was a RINO and he might be that also. He is however an opportunist.
I am beginning to think that he sold out to obama. It is time for McCain to leave the national stage and go into retirement.
Remember folks, Freedom isn't Free. It was bought with the blood and sacrifice of the men and women who are serving and who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces.
For those who fought for it, Freedom has a flavor that the protected will never know.
Also remember folks, that the way to SUPPORT THE TROOPS is to support their mission. Anyone who says that they support the troops but don't support their mission is lying about supporting the troops. And if you want to know, yes I do have a dog in the fight, he is a United States Marine.

September 10, 2009 - 10:38 ET by mattmMeanwhile the snobs in the elitist media roll their eyes and laugh. They know they're helping promote Obama's lies. They're the ones that got him elected.
Unless conservatives get together, pool their resources and start countering these liars on their own turf, nothing will change.
What is stopping FOX from going over the air? What is stopping millionaires like Rush Limbaugh and others from buying controlling interest in some of the major newspapers? Why not buy out NBC or some other Network, or create a new one?
Cable and the internet are great, but when it's on TV or in print, people tend to give it more weight. So if Brian Williams says "false rumors..." most people will buy it.
Bozell's challenge is completely appropriate, but you might as well pee into the wind...the MSM has left all journalistic integrity far behind, long, long ago - you can't expect them to feel shame and change their errant and evil ways.

September 10, 2009 - 10:47 ET by SentryDanBrent, again you have done an admirable job in putting the word out about how obama has been loose with the truth.
One thing here is that people will die whether this piece of legislative crap is passed or not. However, people may leave this world faster if it is passed.
I'm over the hill now and I don't want any government official telling me that I'm too old and prolonging my life would be a waste of assets. Seems to me that the only thing that obama wants is to create a master nation where only the most productive and perfect can exist. Well, "We the People" can't let him succeed. We must use every legal means available to get rid of these so called people.
"We the People" need to return the power to the people.

September 10, 2009 - 10:46 ET by celatorObama's "the sky is falling" act is getting mighty old to most of us. National media, thus far, has enabled him to perpetuate this myth from the stimulus bill to now and whenever Obama wants something. They have no intention of stopping him now.
Listening to Obama's speech last night, I was reminded of Andy Kaufman's famous rendition of Mighty Mouse's theme song, "Here I am to save the day."
Here's Kaufman doing the bit:

No citizen's right to life, liberty, pursuit of happiness, or property is safe as long as Obama is President of the United States.

JOE WILSON / A LEADER
September 10, 2009 - 12:59 ET by ptsonThank you Mr.Wilson for having a pair. That seems to be missing from the rest of the Republican Party. Mr. Steele, I can't hear you? I see alot of condemnation in the media but NOT a single story showing that your comment to Obama, "you lie" was incorrect. It was and is the truth! Thank you for pointing out the King's new robe doesn't exist and he is a liar. And everyone gasped to see the naked truth.
Oh Boy, What's Next? "Obama Lied, People Died"?
September 11, 2009 - 00:27 ET by The7SticksJust to put this phrase into perspective:
"Worst still, Obama used these lies to play on Americans greatest fears and vulnerabilities. He warned that more people would die unless we passed his sweeping plan and threatened that our country's economic pulse would weaken with American businesses closing. And still, the media let him get away with it"
Now let's see what would happen if I replaced a few choice words here and there:
"Worst still, Bush used these lies to play on Americans greatest fears and vulnerabilities. He warned that more people would die unless we passed his sweeping plan and threatened that our country's military pulse would weaken with American troops pulling out. And still, the media let him get away with it"
See, this is the kind of hyperbole the far left had been trumpeting during President Bush's two terms when it came to our response to Islamo-Nazi terrorism. Do you remember how shrill and annoying those anti-war protesters were? Guess what? You've become Markos Molistas and your blog has now become the Daily KOS. Gee, what's next with this bullcrap? "Obama lied and people died"? You people are all the same.
