the large segment of American voters who don't pay taxes can become angry based on any number of Obama schemes. A good portion of those people still work and have health insurance that they don't want to lose. Some of those people want to move into the brackets that do pay taxes... and when they do, they don't want the feds taking all their pay. Some of these individuals don't like Obama apologizing for Americans - these people are patriotic even if they don't earn a lot of money.
If Obama passes cap and trade or gets a VAT, these lower income people will be hit the hardest. If the price of gas goes up, they will blame whoever is President no matter what the cause.
Don't think that their tax situation determines how they will vote - there are other factors to consider.
It behooves us as conservatives not to look down our noses at those who are in the lower income tax brackets....they didn't pass the bills exempting them from paying.

I believe that doctors can turn people away. I think the clause was that if it was detemrined that the visit did not warrant EMERGENCY care, anyone can be turned away. I do not believe it specified illegal status as the only criterion. By the time a doctor is able to make the decision, the patient is already halfway home, so to speak. Next, many doctors are true humanitarians and they will probably finish with the aptient since they have started.
Also, here in GA, there is some kind of fouled up definition of a Medicaid law that grants it to illegals, American citizens are subjected to the means test. A relative went through it and was rejected for Medicaid.
I had the actual experience of sitting in an emergency room with a relative in serious pain and a family of four adults and two children were admitted to emergency services while more seriously ill American patients had to wait. When the group left, (talking in Spanish), they walked right by the finance desk and out into the night. My relative had to sit at the desk and answer questions and sign agreements before he could leave.
(I am an ER nurse in Arizona) to provide a certain amount of care. The Emergency Medical Treatment and Acitve Labor Act was passed in 1986 and requires hospitals and ambulance services to provide care to anyone needing emergency treatment regardless of citizenship, legal status or ability to pay. The hospital could face a $50,000 fine if we turned ANYONE away...it is a very big deal for us. A medical screening exam must be done...regardless of age, race, religion, nationality, ethnicity, residence, citizenship, or legal status.
Everyone goes thru a triage process; where I work we use a 5 level triage, 1 being the most serious and 5 the least. Patients are assigned one of these levels by the Triage nurse and the most serious are taken first. I would hope this is how it is done at other hospitals.
Americans in general are already very tired of the Obama mystique. I think that to some Americans Obama had a certain appeal during the election which hid his real self. Like an unscrupulous salesman of sorts, Barry buffaloed voters into thinking that his 'change' would make lives better. Not true. Once Clinton realized a balanced budget and an end to generational Welfare could be good for America, he went along with most of the Contract with America.
It was Rudy Giuliani who took the Line Item Veto all the way to SCOTUS to kill it. Why SCOTUS agreed with Rudy, I'll never understand, but for this reason alone, I see Rudy as a snake in the grass.

Besides, there really isn't a guarantee that Republicans will have a concise message by then. A lot of voters - especially independents - get tired of both parties running on "at least we're not the other guys."

This issue is becoming a watershed in Obama's administration and for the future of the Democratic leadership.
We have already seen the dissatisfaction by a majority of Americans, but that apparently has had no impact on the Democratic leadership or on Obama.
The next step to watch for is the massive propaganda campaign that will bring in all mainstream media and see if that impacts the position of people. The reason this is even still a possibility is that Republican leadership has not done nearly enough to counter what radical Democrats want to do againstt eh will of the people.

Every time I see Obama's approval ratings dip I like to check the DailyKos to see their permanent approval rating graphic at the top of their homepage. It's been teetering on 60% favorable for the last month even though all the respectable polling groups have had Obama below 60 for some time now. This morning it says 58%, my goodness. I'll start taking bets whether or not Kos will remove that graphic when Obama's approval dips below 50%.
Looking at the Gallup poll every day, it seems that every time Obama's approval ratings get into the low 50's, they bounce up again. You've gotta wonder if there isn't some concerted effort going on to make sure the poll results don't get too bad. I've never been able to correlate the bounce with anything good happening in the news.
It will go lower, but how much is hard to say. Obama is tied to the Democratic congress and its approval rating has hit bottom and is digging.
Then there's our old battlefield friend, morale. Even the true believers are starting to feel beaten up. If their morale falls, they'll be less likely to rally for the incumbents (they'll stay home and grumble).

Agree, the selection of Hillary was more to neutralize her as an opponent than anything else. The upside for Hillary is total deniability; in 2012 she can run against him just as Kennedy ran against Carter in 1980, and will take no responsibility for the Obamacare disaster, TARP, Porkulus, etc, etc. Any foreign disaster that comes up in the Bamster's first term will likely be in an arena that the Bamster has reserved for one of his 31 czars, so she can blame him for that as well. You know? I understand the propaganda war. I understand the desire to persuade the public to their side of the debate. And I understand the appropriate use of technology to spread that message. What I don't understand is how the WH goes about procuring an outside source for this purpose. I assume they've got some kind of "expense account" that doesn't require Congressional oversight that can be used for certain classifications of purchases- but I couldn't justify political propaganda. Now, if the DNC, or the Barack for King campaign fund spent the money, I'd be okay with that. Is there any confirmation that I helped fund GovDelivery?
A lot of moderates and non-ideologues voted for Obama because they saw in him whatever good traits they wanted to see. They wanted to find reasons to vote for him. Now, Obama, even if his words sometimes obfuscate, is showing exactly who he really is poltically, and it's getting harder and harder for people to see only what they wanted to see. The truth is finally getting in front of perception. More and more people are finally beginning to see the truth and they don't particularly like it. My non- ideological sister who voted for Obama and said she thought we needed to "give him a chance" now confesses she is worried about this non-health care on-plan and doesn't like it.

Whether the POTUS approval rating is at 0% or 100%, the fact remains that the GOP is still in turmoil. We have to find a few sane Republicans to get out and there and start building a conservative message.

It amazes me that we don't have any journalists who think anymore. Granted this piece is from a British source, but it seems like it was written from a template.
Ignoring the fact that the US has a Democratic POTUS, a Democratic Senate and a Democratic House, the writer still blames everybody but the Democrats. If Dems wanted to pass healthcare, they have the majority to do it. (Rush even pointed out that they needed only 51 votes to do it). But the author ends the piece by saying that the Republicans should be overruled.
It's like living in the Twighlight Zone. Dems have the majority, but they have to think of a way so that the opposition is overruled.
Mr. Obama is a bit charismatic, speaks well (I keep hearing it's a teleprompter -- great skill required to appear to make extemporneous comments while reading). As well, he and his lovely family are quite telegenic. That's nice. It doesn't make me trust or respect his thinking/judgment.
It is my fervent hope that his health and energy proposals utterly tank... and I think they just might do so as more and more of us dig into the legislation.
So, while he's personable and attractive, I don't think he'll be able to pull wool over the nation's eyes much long. Dissent w/in Dem party is ramping up as more and more Congress critters get an earful from their constituents.

I hope one of the professional writers at Newsbusters can address this. John Stossel, who I agree with on many things, attatcks Palin on the "Death Panel" thing. Yet he leaves out the following info found on Palins facebook page "....Of course, it’s not just this one provision that presents a problem. My original comments concerned statements made by Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, a health policy advisor to President Obama and the brother of the President’s chief of staff. Dr. Emanuel has written that some medical services should not be guaranteed to those “who are irreversibly prevented from being or becoming participating citizens....An obvious example is not guaranteeing health services to patients with dementia.” [10] Dr. Emanuel has also advocated basing medical decisions on a system which “produces a priority curve on which individuals aged between roughly 15 and 40 years get the most chance, whereas the youngest and oldest people get chances that are attenuated.” [11]"

Just finished reading the book and I recommend it for everyone. I knew we were in for heartache, but now I'm even more scared than ever. These people control nearly every industry and don't bother hiding their corrupt activities.

Yes but the financial collapse last September scared a lot of people and McCain did not do much to inspire confindence nor did he run an agressive campaign. It seemed he worried too much that if he went after Obama (Obama never hesitated to attack McCain) the MSM would not like him, as if that mattered because they did not like him anyway because he had a R after his name. So a lot of people ended up voting for "Hope and Change". Since many do not follow politics and the MSM didn't vet the guy most of the voters who tuned in to the elections in October did not get a clear snapshot of the guy and now are truly shocked at what they're seeing. I hear it all the time from people who voted for him,"what is he doing?". I explained to a friend recently that he's just doing what he always did when in office and said he wanted to do but since she just relied on the cheerleading MSM she didn't know it. It just seems as if some conservatives are already giving up...to one degree or another! It's almost like we're conditioned to believe that losing is our lot in life! I seriously believe that some of these attitudes will be self fulfilling prophesy. If people think this fight is already lost, even though we've made some great strides, they'll stop attending Town Halls, Tea Parties, calling/writing the Congress & Senate etc.
While I do agree that we must know what some of the lefts tactics will be, we must also have some ideas to counter them. I'm planning on being at my polling station with my video camera, and making sure that nobody gets bullied.

A good portion of those people still work and have health insurance that they don't want to lose. Some of those people want to move into the brackets that do pay taxes... and when they do, they don't want the feds taking all their pay. Some of these individuals don't like Obama apologizing for Americans - these people are patriotic even if they don't earn a lot of money.
If Obama passes cap and trade or gets a VAT, these lower income people will be hit the hardest. If the price of gas goes up, they will blame whoever is President no matter what the cause.
Don't think that their tax situation determines how they will vote - there are other factors to consider.

I think the clause was that if it was detemrined that the visit did not warrant EMERGENCY care, anyone can be turned away. I do not believe it specified illegal status as the only criterion. By the time a doctor is able to make the decision, the patient is already halfway home, so to speak. Next, many doctors are true humanitarians and they will probably finish with the aptient since they have started.
Also, here in GA, there is some kind of fouled up definition of a Medicaid law that grants it to illegals, American citizens are subjected to the means test. A relative went through it and was rejected for Medicaid.
I had the actual experience of sitting in an emergency room with a relative in serious pain and a family of four adults and two children were admitted to emergency services while more seriously ill American patients had to wait. When the group left, (talking in Spanish), they walked right by the finance desk and out into the night. My relative had to sit at the desk and answer questions and sign agreements before he could leave.

The Emergency Medical Treatment and Acitve Labor Act was passed in 1986 and requires hospitals and ambulance services to provide care to anyone needing emergency treatment regardless of citizenship, legal status or ability to pay. The hospital could face a $50,000 fine if we turned ANYONE away...it is a very big deal for us. A medical screening exam must be done...regardless of age, race, religion, nationality, ethnicity, residence, citizenship, or legal status.
Everyone goes thru a triage process; where I work we use a 5 level triage, 1 being the most serious and 5 the least. Patients are assigned one of these levels by the Triage nurse and the most serious are taken first. I would hope this is how it is done at other hospitals.

the problem is, they can't relate with the average american. you see it in the way they are ridiculed on late night tv shows. they don't understand that the american citizens who live in what they refer to as "flyover country" are the reason they go to the supermarket and buy a steak or fresh vegetables or whatever they are hungry for. or maybe that average american works in a factory, or runs a small business, or just does whatever they are best at to scratch out a modest living. whatever it is they do, they don't live off a trust fund, that's for sure.

Perhaps its me that was misuderstanding your post. When you asked for the examples I did not see where you said specifically to balance the budget or Federally Funded Stem Cell research would bring down the price of healthcare.
If you are talking about the budget, I'm believe Obama will even be worse than Bush. Clinton was a moderate and reached across the aisle with Welfare reform and Capital Gains tax. Obama seems way to focused on his entitlement progams
To be honest, even though thought the last GOP congress was a disaster I am leaning towards hoping they come back in because Obama has way too much power to push through his agenda at the moment

Besides, there really isn't a guarantee that Republicans will have a concise message by then. A lot of voters - especially independents - get tired of both parties running on "at least we're not the other guys."
Put this all together, and I'm not convinced the GOP will make a substantial dent. They might stop the supermajority, but they won't get control.

When I see people like Krauthamer and Stossel, who think that the "end of life counseling" was the "death panels" that Sarah was talking about, I want to scream!
Education is obviously a waste of time if you don't have a lick of common sense to go with it.
If nothing else, we can credit Sarah Palin for exposing who actually understands the real world vs those who are simply educated idiots.
Charles and John disappoint me to no end. Krauthamer didn't get the furry behind the townhalls either.

Yes but the financial collapse last September scared a lot of people and McCain did not do much to inspire confindence nor did he run an agressive campaign. It seemed he worried too much that if he went after Obama (Obama never hesitated to attack McCain) the MSM would not like him, as if that mattered because they did not like him anyway because he had a R after his name. So a lot of people ended up voting for "Hope and Change". Since many do not follow politics and the MSM didn't vet the guy most of the voters who tuned in to the elections in October did not get a clear snapshot of the guy and now are truly shocked at what they're seeing. I hear it all the time from people who voted for him,"what is he doing?". I explained to a friend recently that he's just doing what he always did when in office and said he wanted to do but since she just relied on the cheerleading MSM she didn't know it. Buyer's remorse is just beginning.

It was probably a bit unfair on my part to condemn folks who are raising concerns as "having no stones." I always enjoy reading your posts, and can safely say, you do have stones! ;-)
It just seems as if some conservatives are already giving up...to one degree or another! It's almost like we're conditioned to believe that losing is our lot in life! I seriously believe that some of these attitudes will be self fulfilling prophesy. If people think this fight is already lost, even though we've made some great strides, they'll stop attending Town Halls, Tea Parties, calling/writing the Congress & Senate etc.
While I do agree that we must know what some of the lefts tactics will be, we must also have some ideas to counter them. I'm planning on being at my polling station with my video camera, and making sure that nobody gets bullied.
