For general discussion and debate. Possible talking point: Why ObamaCare failed.

Every big idea that works is marked by simplicity, by clarity. You can understand it when you hear it, and you can explain it to people. Social Security: Retired workers receive a public pension to help them through old age. Medicare: People over 65 can receive taxpayer-funded health care. Welfare: If you have no money and cannot support yourself, we will help as you get back on your feet. These things are clear. I understand them. You understand them. The president's health-care plan is not clear, and I mean that not only in the sense of "he hasn't told us his plan." I mean it in terms of the voodoo phrases, this gobbledygook, this secret language of government that no one understands—"single payer," "public option," "insurance marketplace exchange." No one understands what this stuff means, nobody normal. And when normal people don't know what the words mean, they don't say to themselves, "I may not understand, but my trusty government surely does, and will treat me and mine with respect." They think, "I can't get what these people are talking about. They must be trying to get one past me. So I'll vote no."

Is Peggy Noonan right?

"Is Peggy Noonan right?"

Four words I didn't think I'd ever hear again!

"I think that when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody."  Barack Obama to "Joe the Plumber"

The problem is not lack of simplicity, its duplicity

First I've lost a lot of respect for Peggy Noonan for  her clickish pom-pom girl attitude towards Palin.

The problem with the bill is not lack of simplicity, its duplicity. Proponents of the bill are not being honest about their true intentions.

America does not need a national commissioner of heath care who can set premium fees and reimbursement rates.

America does not need a bill that forces insurance companies to return excess profits.

Obama: Republican conspiracy out to kill health reform...  h/t Drudge

"President Obama took to the conservative airwaves Thursday to charge that Republican leaders are engaged in a vast right-wing conspiracy (he he he) to kill health care reform in order to repeat the 1994 mid-term takeover of Congress, which followed the defeat of President Clinton's reform plan..."

...did the man in the Whitehouse really think he could do what hillary could not?

v

face piles of trials with smiles...

I find that kinda funny.

I find that kinda funny.  So Obama is admitting that opposing socialized medicine gained the support of the electorate?  He is free to call it a conspiracy, but it seems to be headed in a direction that the people want.  Is that not what elected officials are supposed to be doing?  If Republicans are opposing this just to score political points, then they are RINOs and should be ousted.  If they are doing so on principles or because their constituents demand it, then they are doing their jobs.  I swear, this president is the most childish.  He blames every problem on somebody else.  He can ram nearly anything he wants through Congress, yet he still whines about what little opposition those in government offer.  Even more telling, he complains about the people opposing his actions.

At the risk of sounding like an elitist---

Childish?? Most of the electorate is childish. You and I are on a site where people pay attention to what is happening. I am sure that most of Obama voters agree there is some insidious plot to destroy Obama over health care and their god, BHO, is being unfairly maligned.

I am always reminded of what the great unwashed masses  though was great oratory when Lloyd Bentsen said to Dan Quayle, "I knew Jack Kennedy and you are no Jack Kennedy". It won over millions of voters. I personally thought it extremely childish. It was not A Clay, Douglas, Lincoln or Reagan moment.

So shoot me for being a snob.

Noonan has it mostly right . . .

Obama and the Democrats in Congress have hamstrung their own efforts by two ways:

Totally inadequate communication - Despite promises of transparency and honesty, Obama and crew have failed to articulate clearly just what this thousand-page bill will entail.  They regurgitate talking points about the 'major effects' of the draft bill(s), but they often contradict each other, and the confusion has heightened the suspicions of voters still reeling from the whirlwind activity surrounding the stimulus bill that no one read before voting on it.  After all, how can they trust the word of elected officials who can't explain the bill they themselves are crafting.

The Rush -  While confusion and distrust reign, Obama insisted on passing legislation by July 31, 2009.  That deadline was impossible to make, and the voters are becoming aware that its intent was to create a law with disasterous outcomes.  Just look at how many parts of the proposed bill(s) have been totally dropped after public scrutiny and outrage, fueling even more distrust.  The American people don't understand why legislation that will touch 100% of them in a very personal way has to be rushed through like the careless stimlus package.

There is no way that Obama can repair the self-inflicted damage he and Pelosi/Reid/Waxman/Frank et al have created.  Maybe they can start over after the 2010 elections, but for the most part, they've finished forming the 2009 circular firing squad, the Republicans have slipped out from the ring, and the Dems appear ready to pull the triggers as a their ardent supporters on the Left look on in horror.

Ready --- Aim --- . . .

Gal.. in Obama's case, it

Gal.. in Obama's case, it was, like everything else his adminstration tries to do sort of like this: Fire, Aim, Ready, Fire Again, Aim Lower, Ready, Fire Again, blame the targets, blame the ammunition manufacturer, go on TV and whine, Fire, Aim Right, Ready, Check Gun, Fire, aim left, Extract the lead from a  tomato from the White House Garden to make new bullets, Aim, Fire Right,  Fire High, Fire Low, Read a How To Get Ready Book, Fire backwards, Aim, read a book about aiming.....

Or something like that.

Talk about the Keystone Kops.

No citizen's right to life, liberty, pursuit of happiness, or property is safe as long as Obama is President of the United States.

I had the exact same thought

When someone would go stupidly off track, my boss used to holler "Ready, FIRE, AIM!".  It was enough of a rebuke.

Maybe if these democrats understood a little bit more about guns, you know, those thingys us bitter clingers ar so fond of.....

I find Obama's newest villian...the VRWC to be the true death knell for Obamacare0  The guy just never disappoints to sink lower than I ever possibly think he can.  After his Post Office remark, you'd think he'd figure it out, but apparently he's so in love with his own voice.  What's next?

I hope he fails, too.

My rep had a town hall meeting last night--

-- I did not attend because I have been in regular contact with his office and I know his position on many issues and I am proud of him. However, the newspaper today reported that he said he believes that the Dems will push through some kind of health reform this year by the fact they have enough numbers themselves to accomplish it.

How sad--part politics outweighs, common sense and the will of the people.

misterbill

I firmly believe we have to keep the pressure on.

Now is not the time to compromise.  Obama keeps talking about "bi-partisanship", but until any bill actually puts forth positive areas for reform (tort, individual deductibility, cross-state purchase) instead of some dem-lite program(s)....we need to continue "Just Say No".  Dem-lite is not bi-partisanship.

No compromise.  None.

I hope he fails, too.

Well-

-- my rep says there is no way he would vote for this bill. He said he will challnege it. He and some other Reps have proposed modest changes that will improve today's program.

The Dems have the power to force thi through. Then it will be amnesty--then it will be anger in the streets.

I hope I am wrong!!!!

Blonde, speaking of Obama's

Blonde, speaking of Obama's voice, a friend dropped last weekend to visit a while. It happens that he's a professional hypnotist....performs at colleges, business meetings, the occasional night club, that sort of thing.

He said something that really took me back and got me to thinking. He said that, in his opinion, Obama's voice has the tonality, cadence, rhythm of a trained hypnotist. He's been studying Obama's presentation style etc for awhile, and was struck early on by Obama's odd manner of speaking from the very beginning. My friend said it might just be Obama's natural speaking style, or that someone has spent some time teaching to speak that way. Group hypnosis sort of thing.

I thought that was a very interesting comment. It might explain a lot about the media and others swooning over this guy.

No citizen's right to life, liberty, pursuit of happiness, or property is safe as long as Obama is President of the United States.

Interesting comment

I know absolutely nothing about linguistics, but to my ear, Obama has a very unusual way of speaking.  His accent (like Hillary's) seems to vary from venue to venue.

My ear can pick out certain accents very clearly (i.e. I grew up in Fort Lauderdale and can hear that when I hear Chris Evert speak)....but I have no idea what a Hawaii accent sounds like.  Obama sounds like a bad imitation of a southern accent to me.  Which is confusing, I don't hear the Cambridge or New York, nor Chicago, at any time when he speaks.

I'd be interested to hear what someone whose speciality is accents....because Obama's is "fishy" to say the least.

I hope he fails, too.

Re Linguistics

It is an interesting question. In one of his books the Bamster says that he studied the speaking style of Jeremiah Wright and other black preachers to develop his own style of public speaking, so to some extent you can't trace his 'accent', since it is artificial. You can see it come out in certain venues, like when he spoke to the NAACP.

I don't know how far back recordings of the Bamster go, but it would be interesting if we could find something really old, like from Columbia, to hear his real voice.

Yep...he turns it on and

Yep...he turns it on and off depending on the crowd he is speaking to.

It is more than obvious.

Sometimes I wonder who these pols really thinking they're fooling, then again, they fool a lot who have a deaf ear, when convenient.

Obamacare and Peggy Noonan

I can't trust Peggy Noonan's or her motives. She dishonestly attacked Sarah Palin, the same way the left did. She better than most knew what this adminstration's aims were. I'll never forgive her for this. I don't need her to tell me how stupid and gullible our elected officials think or at least hope we are. For me the best thing is ignore her.

Complexity isn't the main cause

I think there is some truth to her premise.  As a huge fan of simplicity, even in the relatively complex world of government, I think the lack of it here is only a factor though.  One might say that, in simple terms, Obamacare could be described as a government health insurance option.  This is disingenuous of course, but a supporter could simply throw this out there.

The trouble lies in the fact that people aren't necessarily as stupid as the government thinks they are.  As another NBer has already pointed out, it's the obfuscation and also the general feel that they're trying to pull a fast one.  That's what the normal person feels about this.

Then when those of us who are concerned and diligent enough to research these proposals find out that they actually ARE trying to pull a fast one, we get the word out.  Despite a full court press by our PRAVDA media, the word is still getting out and confirming what intuition is already telling the average Joe - something is fishy.  When the average Joe is labelled "racists", "bigots", "rednecks", "religious nutjobs", "zealots", "fascists", etc in response to legitimate questions, expressions of reservation, or plain disagreement, it not only confirms their suspicions, but entrenches their opposition.

The term "ignorant" might technically apply to the average American who hasn't done their homework on Obamacare, but most people don't like to be called that.  This is yet another misstep of our amateurish politicians and media.  Any politician or PR guy (the media fills the role of PR guy) won't call namecall  the opposition when they actually need their help.

The mistake being made by opponents of Obamacare is thinking this thing has failed while it still has a strong pulse.

Obama has the Patience of a Starfish

When a 'Starfish' wants to eat a Clam, the Starfish encounters a problem.

The Clam has much more strength to hold its shell closed than the Starfish has to open the shell of the Clam.

The Starfish has endurance and patience, applying a consistent pressure that finally wears out the Clam and it's resistance.

Once the Clam gives up it becomes a meal for the Starfish.

Barack Obama has won most of the things he wants accomplished, by exerting pressure that is relentless and 'Never Gives Up'.

Another Tactic Barack Obama has used successfully is diversion.

American resistance is now focused on and united against ObamaCare with great anger.

The problem with anger is that it dissipates over time naturally and Barack Obama knows that.

Barack Obama has already begun using Distraction by filing briefs against DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act, or DOMA, is the short title of a federal law of the United States passed on September 21, 1996 as Public Law.)

Barack Obama knows what else is important to most of the Citizens who are resisting ObamaCare and he will begin attacking those important items 'One by One' splintering the anger and resistance.

This is why Barack Obama can state with 'Great Confidence' that he "Will have Health Care Reform" Obama style.

Anger will dissipate, the united front will splinter - citizens will be willing to settle for 'Something' and Barack Obama will have his 'Narcissistic Meal'.

This formula has worked throughout Barack Obama's life since childhood and he knows it will work this time with ObamaCare.

American Citizens must temper their anger with resolve and focus on ObamaCare, which is the key piece of the Barack Obama agenda, to destroy the present America and 'Change' America to ObamUnism.

Is Peggy Noonan right?

I think she is wrong. Even if you could distill Obamacare into some platitude, it would still be another bureaucratic-heavy government program. The examples provided:

Social Security - Failing/Bankrupt

Medicare - Failing/Bankrupt

Welfare - Failed with a failure bonus of destroying the Black Family

The common thread is that these programs transfer the care responsibilities of the family and community to the federal government. This leads to a weakening of the family and community structure. Oh and by the way, our country is out of money, so the whole idea of another mega-federal program is out of the question.

Peggy is not right, she

Peggy is not right, she seems to think we are mostly uniformed and want to stay that way.  The truth is those who want to be informed beyond teh pap the SRM feeds us will be and those who dont wont be.  A Country song sums it up "God is great, beer is good and people are crazy" in other words people are as informed as they want to be.

Some like my daughter Kristi could care less until it hits her and my son thinks all politicians are crooks; my other daughter believes like I do for the most part but she is in college and my wife thinks I am too radical.  I ask my kid in college about politics and she says her friends just dont talk about it and half of them did not vote in November.  So consider the state of the people ... they are crazy.

Health Care Expensive Now? Wait until it is 'Free'

If you think experts are Expensive, try using amateurs to do the job.

This is what I told a major Financial Corporation once, when they said my bid was too high to rewrite their legacy computer system.

About 3 months later they wanted me to take over the rewrite, after the company they had hired had them in a worse mess than they had before they hired them.

My new bid was about 1/3 higher than my original bid, because I had to not only rewrite the system I had to contend with the 'Rookie Mistakes' made by the other company.

The Financial Corporation told me after I completed the job that the rewrite ended up costing them 2 1/2 times my original bid - not counting lost production costs.

The American Medical industry has the most educated and arguably some of the most brilliant people in America within its ranks.

Amateur Politicians now state they can make it better, more affordable and available for everyone without raising costs?

Emergency Rooms have become the most brutalized area in a Hospital, not only raising operating costs for the entire Hospital but Health Insurance as well.

Amateur Politicians decided that any and everyone should be treated in the Emergency rooms, as a 'Sacrifice for the Common Good' regardless of the burden and expense.

Amateur Politicians now say that this is working so well, that they must 'Redouble Their Efforts' by brutalizing the entire Medical system to have the same operational rules.

If you think Medical experts were Expensive, wait until the Amateurs are finished.

How can she say it is dead?

I don't get this.  I think the plan is very likely to become law.  Yes the people don't like it, but that does not matter to the Dems.

Having said that I still believe we all should do what we can to fight this.  Make sure we are calling congressmen/women (no matter how liberal).   Try and have family/friends who are concerned do the same.

Hard to believe this is happening in this great country.  While, I understand that the President wants to change our society, I have not figured out yet how he will change the people.  Most of this country does not want what he is selling.

Giving false sense of security

Obamacare has not failed and the battle has just started. It's far from over. The liberals will change the wording, change the rhetoric and try and sneak it through. Or, they will split it up into smaller bills and brute force it through because of their super majorities in the House and the Senate.

Either way this is not done and it is not over. The only way this will be over is if the democrats, and specifically the far liberal democrats, are thrown out of office by an angry and finally awake electorate.

Throw 'da bums out!

ObamaCare has failed?

A bit premature, aren't we?  It hasn't failed until we sweep the left out of power, and I mean COMPLETELY out of power.  This means a purge of the judiciary.  The assortment of miscreants and anti-Americans that have been apppointed to the Federal bench by Obama, Clinton and Carter need to be driven from office.

peggy noonan can go on somewhere

Basically she's saying the public would fall for ObamaCare if he could find a way to put it in a soundbite.

No - she's not right

When you're a professional communicator (and Noonan was a speechwriter), you tend to think that the problem is always in the selling, not the product. The disaster in healthcare is in the product they're trying to sell ... not in the sales campaign.

Past experience suggests that you can sell anything to the American public, so long as you sell it properly. And we've been just dumb enough to allow that suggestion to seem true. But I deny that's the problem here. No matter how brilliantly you package and sell this dead fish, it's still a dead fish, and everyone knows it.

Last night--

--I watched the usual conservative news shows as is my habit. They posted the health care numbers again. I cannot remember the exact number, but, as you know, it is around 47 million uninsured. When they removed those who choose NOT to have insurance and the estimated number of illegals, as you can guess, the number of uninsured was a heck of a lot less.

I am encouraged by the number of Americans who have gotten involved in this disgusting socialistic effort. Where the hell were they when the Messiah was running for office???

Per one study, they stayed home because they could not see the difference beteween the candidates.

It was the length of their arms.. McCrane's arms reached across the aisle--too often. Obama's only reach as far and as deep as the taxpayers' pockets.

Misterbill~

My take? Some decided that character and a person's history meant nothing...for the sake of thinking they'd get some extra presents on their "wish list" from Santa. Simply put: I think some were just plain selfish (not caring how future generations would be affected) and/or unwise (not getting where this would all lead). None of us are perfect, but I do think some made a very deliberate choice to compromise. Some never had beliefs that went against deciding on Obama, so there was no compromise on their part -- but it's the group that compromised that disappointed me.

I believe there are no "easy/cheap" ways in life for very long...but there's always the choice of doing the right thing and standing by (what should be, IMO) some immovable morals/convictions -- which requires some sacrifice and discipline and is hard to do at times -- but I believe it  pays off in the end.

Because in the end, you can't do what's wrong to get something you feel is your right.

Good thinking--

-- and morally upright too.

I have yet to find my gas tank full courtesy of Obama.

A very sad part of this, (I am sure you remember the silly lady ion TV), is that people actually did believe that life would be worry free if the MAN won. Sad--they do not understand the basics of life. they live with a welfare mentality.

Bingo

Excellent point, and thanks for giving me a reason not to read her entire article.

Noonan is Wrong

It is unfortunate that "conservatives" and/or "Republicans" in name continue to list Social Security, Medicare, and Welfare among "every big idea that works". These are all forms of wealth redistribution and something our Constitution never authorized our federal government to do...plain and simple. Americans are not opposing ObamaCare because they don't understand it. They're opposing it because they do understand that it is just more socialism being shoved down our collective throats.

Let Me Be Clear

"single payer," "public option," "insurance marketplace exchange."  No one understands what this stuff means.."

There's a lot of mis-information out there, so let me be clear on a few things,

  1. Public Option: Government funded. Government operated. Government regulated. Government controlled. It's not a "public" option at all. It's a "government" option. Think about it.

  2. Single Payer: This is definitely a mis-nomer. "Single" payer. Hah! No such thing. There are approximately 300 million people in the U.S. Under this system, sooner or later, through taxes, fines, mandates, etc, everyone pays! That makes it, in all actuality, a 'multiple-payer' system.  Think about it.

  3. Insurance Marketplace Exchange: I love this one. It's easy to understand. An "insurance marketplace exchange" is the place insurance companies go to die, like the 'mythical' Elephant's GraveyardOr, in simpler terms, this is nothing more than a 'Death Panel' for insurance companies. Think about it.

There. Now wasn't that easy?

SEC. 102. PROTECTING THE CHOICE TO KEEP CURRENT COVERAGE.

(a) GRANDFATHERED HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE DEFINED.・Subject to the succeeding provisions of this section, for purposes of establishing acceptable coverage under this division, the term ・・grandfathered health insurance coverage・・ means individual health insurance

coverage that is offered and in force and effect before the first day of Y1 if the following conditions are met:

(1) LIMITATION ON NEW ENROLLMENT.・

(A) IN GENERAL.・Except as provided in this paragraph, the individual health insurance issuer offering such coverage does not enroll any individual in such coverage if the first effective date of coverage is on or after the first day of Y1.

I don't know, sounds like a

I don't know, sounds like a definition of "grandfathered."

let me help you out.

from Investor's Business Daily

When we first saw the paragraph Tuesday, just after the 1,018-page document was released, we thought we surely must be misreading it. So we sought help from the House Ways and Means Committee.

It turns out we were right: The provision would indeed outlaw individual private coverage. Under the Orwellian header of "Protecting The Choice To Keep Current Coverage," the "Limitation On New Enrollment" section of the bill clearly states:

"Except as provided in this paragraph, the individual health insurance issuer offering such coverage does not enroll any individual in such coverage if the first effective date of coverage is on or after the first day" of the year the legislation becomes law.

So we can all keep our coverage, just as promised — with, of course, exceptions: Those who currently have private individual coverage won't be able to change it. Nor will those who leave a company to work for themselves be free to buy individual plans from private carriers.

Stewart's opening statement to her was :

"It seems like this bill is allowing people more control over their lives and that your reading of it is hyperbolic and in some cases - dangerous."

the rest of this clip is her shuffling through papers with Stewart making fun of her.  I don't understand how you get "news" or even information out of this exchange.

I don't know how that relates to your quote of grandfather text.

Death panel

This is the spin going... Palin was not talking exclusively about end-of-life councelling, she was refering primarily to the the panels of so called experts (government bureaucrats) who will decide what will and will not be covered in any insurance policy. Sorry, if your over XX years old, with YY problems, you will not get a hip transplant.   etc.

that simple.

A tribute---

I went to Medicare.gov today to check out my history for the year. It lists the service, the charge, the doctor and the amount Medicare pays.

Bear with me as I bow my head and give thanks to God that there are men  and women who have kept me alive that accept such paltry sums for their services.

Here is an example of a cystourethscopy for a cancer check:

Doctor (blank)      Date         Charge     Allowed       My cost

RONALD P MD 8/17/2009      $600.00     $130.36      $26.07

The diagnosis: No tumors-----priceless.

PS I did not have a meeting to discuss end of life choices. I did have a discussion about when I should come back for another evaluation to defeat the cancer.

well wishes to you misterbill

I choke when I see the "allowable cost" on my insurance papers.  I just thank god my doctors continue to take my rediculously cheapskate Tricare.  Two health programs (Blue Cross and Group Health) stopped doing business with Tricare because of this)  All the surgeries I've had ... it's a blessing they'll take it.

meanwhile, take care or yourself and lots of well wishes.

That's a GREAT ONE!! If I may, you are slated for my next rile-up-my-liberal-friends-on-facebook status quote from NewsBusters. :)

And best of health to you. Defeat your cancer in 2009, and let's defeat this schmuck in 2012!!

Misterbill~

I think your sentiments are beautiful. Wishing you well -- much much wellness. :)

The WSJ

I think it was yesterday--more of the same, but the WSJ had an editorial about how the admin was on both sides of this. It is  FUBAR beyond beyond at this pt. I think people should take a look at their last "Public Option"--voting for this guy.

Oddly Religious

Many this week pointing out the odd religious turn the Bamster has taken in pushing Obamacare, among the weirdest statements:

"We are God's partners in matters of life and death." (It could have been worse, he could have said 'I am God's partner...')

Obama Would Like You to See Government as Religion:  http://althouse.blogspot.com

I guess all of us turn to religion when our situation turns truly desperate. Given his anti-semitic foreign policy, it'a also bizarre that he would turn to a group of rabbis for help.

god's partner in matter of..

seriously if I had been within 10 yards of the man I would have been backing up expecting a lightning strike.  With his stance on abortion...  that's just wow.

Re-Call

I would like to see the Tea Party folks make a united call for re-call elections and threaten a national strike. If nothing else it would put more pressure on the polititions to listen to the people.

Selling Books

Since the subject so far is Noonan I will ease into Tom Ridge by saying the two of them are a lot alike: Sorta conservative, kinda righteous, a little snooty, unseemly in their haste to criticize the party they choose to call their own.

As for Tom Ridge, I at least thought he retained a sense of loyalty  an Army Sergeant must have. Well. Well. Ridge is now an author. His publicist released a blurb about his coming best-seller "The Test of Our Times: America Under Siege ... and How We Can Be Safe Again." Ridge claims he was pressured to raise the alert level before the 2004 election by Rumsfield and Ashcroft. Homeland Security Advisor Frances Townsend denies it. The story is here: http://www.realclear.... To cut to the chase, a meeting was called in response to threats from Bin Laden and the American jihadist Adam Gadahn. Ashcroft and Rumsfield wanted to raise the alert level, Ridge didn't. So now, five years later, Tom Ridge, the sacrosanct somnolent with droopy eyes to match and years of slumber broken only by nightmares of a Senate campaign, awoke to discover it was political pressure to suggest the threat level should be raised in his presence.

To get serious, if we continue to enrich those who give advice to the President and then betray his confidence, if normal give and take in high level meetings becomes fodder for talk shows and books we will never have the "best and brightest" in government again. With Obama's czarist government we may have in place already a secret  government without oversight. We certainly do not know what they are doing, do we?

I'm sure most of you have heard of this

but the comments section is especially interesting.

  Did anyone catch Greta

Did anyone catch Greta Van Susteren's interview with the creep who is apparently organizing a boycott of Whole Foods, because their chairman dared to write a column in the WSJ suggesting an alternative to Obama's no-healthcare plan? Van Susteren is usually pretty easy going with all her guests - but for her, she just unloaded on this fanatic. Accusing him of trying to suppress free speech. This guy was crazy scary. There was another guest, a woman organizing a counter support effort to Whole Foods because of the free speech issue. She helped make the guy look like the dangerous lunatic he is.

The "Mainstream" Media: By liberals. For liberals.

Here's the link to it

Chris.... I caught that

Chris....

I caught that last night...what a GREAT job Greta did!

Obama's a Community Agitator, a walking, talking destroyer. ~ Rush Limbaugh

Did catch that last night.

Interesting how the gal repping Whole Foods came across as rational and intelligent.  The guy calling for boycott had a look in his eye that I can only describe as unhinged.  He also seemed to be gasping for breath - weird.

"...it must be known that we are at all times ready for war." G. Washington

Chris~

I saw that as well. Greta continued to press the same question over and over to this guy -- and he sounded like a total loon by the end of the interview because he just continued to stick to his one weird, unreasonable talking point. Seriously, all she did was point out how nutty his thinking was and then ask him if indeed he was saying what he was saying -- and he kept confirming it. "Yes, Greta, I am a total loon." LOL.

Slam dunk.

NYTimes: Bonfire of the Inanities

Still no serious review of Liberty & Tyranny (Mark Levin) in the New York Times.

Although it has topped their own sales charts for 13 weeks solid, selling almost a million HARD BACK copies to date.

Ah well, they do have so mnay serious books to review they probably didn't have time.

Like this one, this w/e

'Hos, Hookers, Call Girls, and Rent Boys'
Reviewed by TONI BENTLEY

An eye-opening, occasionally astonishing, brutally honest and frequently funny collection of prose and poetry by all kinds of sex workers.

Below is the snarky, illiterate "review" of Levin's scholarly work (you don't have to agree with his opinions at all to understand that it is a major work of scholarship tackling a serious sweep of American constitutional history)...

Inside the List
By JENNIFER SCHUESSLER
Published: April 3, 2009
CONSERVATISM LIVES! Mark R. Levin’s “Liberty and Tyranny: A Conservative Manifesto” enters the hardcover nonfiction list at No. 1 this week, freeing American readers at last from the heavy yoke of the Canadian Malcolm Gladwell, whose “Outliers” falls to No. 2. Levin, a syndicated radio host and author of the best-selling “Men in Black: How the Supreme Court Is Destroying America,” argues for a return to “the Founders’ idea of the dignity of the individual, who can flourish through ordered liberty.” If Levin’s stately neo-federalist tone isn’t your cup of tea, a glossary at the Web site Mark Levin Fan (marklevinfan.com) offers a crib sheet of his views. “Philosophy of the stupid” = liberalism. “RuPaul” = Ron Paul. “The spiteful troll” = Al Franken. “New York Slimes” = . . . um, can I use a lifeline?

Get that? In an omnibus column on books in the top ten, the New York Times semi-literate hack reviews Mark Levin's RADIO SHOW and website.

You know, a bit like reviwing Tom Wolff's Bonfire of the Vanities by watching the excerable movie with the same name and commenting on that.

Happy Ramadan

Dear Leader Obama can't be bothered to celebrate America's National Day of Prayer, but don't worry. He found the time to post an official statement about Ramadan on the White House website.

I wonder if he plans on telling Muslims it's their moral obligation to fund abortion for heathens.

Candance~

He should have zero ground to stand on when he attempts to use Christian leaders to get his healthcare agenda passed on "moral grounds." He is so far over on the other side that it's ridiculous.

you know, GG

If America is the world's biggest Muslim nation, then Obama should have no need of getting liberal Christians to lecture us on TV.

Candance~

It almost makes you think the guy just wings it with words, hoping people will blindly believe...hmmmm? ^_^ It would be such a shame if that Muslim comment (untruth) came back to bite him.  ;)

No, he can't. He can't use words for his purposes...spin them every-which-way-around-and-upside-down...try to take them back...and "recalibrate" all day long without consequence. No, he can't.

Nice find CD

Some good news, OIL refinery approved

board-oks-air-quality-permit-for-oil-refinery.html

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — A state board voted unanimously Thursday to
approve an air quality permit for a $10 billion oil refinery that
Hyperion Resources wants to build in southeastern South Dakota.

The Board of Minerals and Environment found that
Dallas-based Hyperion has met the requirements set in state laws and
rules. It endorsed the state Environment Department's recommendation to
issue the permit for the first new U.S. oil refinery built since 1976.

Let the oil company spend 10 Billion then close it, just before it opens...That's how it works now...

Wee-Wee=Marijuana

United Nations reports that Wee-Wee is a Nigerian term for marijuana. I wonder what they call it in Kenya? Does the Bamster get any care packages from relatives in Kenya?

UN Reports It's a Nigerian Word for Cannabis: http://www.weaselzippers.net

I suspected as much from the context. If it is about urinating, why would he say wee-wee'd UP? The context is much closer to 'doped up', or 'juiced up', 'coked up', etc.

No, Peggy, the simplicity is right there: RATIONING

A thousand page Health Care bill packed with all sorts of junk does tend to set one back, but by and large that all worked favorably for the bill, as all of that tended to obfuscate the central, SIMPLE, theme of Nationalized Health Care, namely: RATIONING.

Once the arbitrary rationing and bureaucratic denial of certain procedures, especially for people considered to be expendable, came into full view, and got the attention that they deserved, this fascistic pile of cr@p was on its way out.  Harry and Botox Bolshi tried mightily to whisk this fraud through Congress, according to an absurd timeframe; but once that failed, the whole stinking mess received genuine public scrutiny, and the moral duplicity and criminality of the Democrats was exposed.

In my view the so-called health Care bill is not really about Health Care whatsoever, at least not in any positive sense, on account of its causing gradual dilapidation of medical facilities (on account of perennially insufficient funding for low priority matters) and escalating shortage of qualified and motivated health care providers, by denying them authority, self-determination, and opportunity.

No, the so-called health Care bill is really about the fascistic Democrats making a huge grab at power over a very important and vital aspect of America and its economy; and they are revealing now the extreme lengths to which they will go to pull this caper off.
