Shawn the SCM controlled the people and what they think. Only until the problems with canditates become overwhelming do the sheeple pay attention to the truth. I have faith in the sheeple; faith that they will become lemmings if they dont see the cliff edge. And they dont want to know or fail to research where the edge is and that includes the politicians and me.
Obama's election depended on Bush's unpopularity, and the collapse of the economy. Obama was an attractive candidate, but he was never subjected to the scrutiny that scrubs attractiveness away from most other candidates. Now he's getting that kind of scrutiny, and his attractiveness is eroding away.
Note: this will happen to the next candidate also.
Obama wasn't elected because the American people embraced his agenda. He was elected because the people regarded the Bush/GOP agenda as a failure, and wanted something (anything) else. But, now they're seeing what agenda they wound up with instead, and they don't particularly like it.
It's not enough to reject the past. You have to examine the future. It's also a proof, I think, that America wants better alternatives. The Democrats and the Republicans just aren't offering good alternatives.
Right! Obama was elected because a lot of voters thought " Well it can't be any worse than we've got". But now they see that in fact it can be much worse. If the election was a do-over today obama would not win.
Don't forget all the help that candidate John McCain gave Obama. I'm not sure if McCain could beat Obama today. McCain would not want to be seen as criticizing Obama.
McCain made me cringe everytime he refered to obama as 'My friend'. I had the feeling at times that McCain wasn't too serious about winning but loved the attention from running. I also believe that's why some from his inner circle back-stabbed Palin because she was stealing his spotlight and that was all he was after. I think in his heart McCain is happy being a senator.
I suspect that Sarah Palin will be very active supporting candidates she favors, and criticizing Obama and his supporters during the 2010 primaries, as well as the November election. However, considering that McCain gave her the break of a lifetime, this is one primary I expect she will be avoiding. In fact if McCain calls her for support she may be in an awkward position, or she may stump for him, but it might be a bit tricky.
All of this will be very interesting with respect to how well the candidates that Palin suppports do. If she helps a bunch of candidates dislodge a bunch of incumbants, the tone for 2012 will be set.
PS: I hope Simcox wins too.
- Relying upon the MSM for your information is like relying upon an embezzler to manage your portfolio.
Excellent insights, KC Mulville. Many people who voted for Obama, mostly "independents" and sensible Democrats, are disgusted with the Obamanation. And the number is growing daily. And yes, the next candidate will get his/her teeth kicked in also, because you can't please everyone. But the GOP will get closer to the basics, which is: Cutting taxes and spending improves the economy, and people are happier. Socialists will Rumpelstiltskin themselves, but their stupidity makes them unsympathetic characters.
"The Democrats and the Republicans just aren't offering good alternatives."
KC,
I think the problem is that a presidential candidate is like what they say about an elephant: that it's a horse designed by a committee. We all, individually, have a picture of the "perfect conservative candidate" - principled, honest, forceful, and a great communicator. The problem comes from the actual primary process - where all the distortions, chicanery, compromise, and dilution occurs. I generally don't much like the product that eventually comes off the conveyor belt, but there's really nothing to be done about it, is there - I think any alternative might be worse. Even a Conservative Party, sooner or later, would probably wind up putting out a candidate that some of us wouldn't like.

Not sure, but I'll bet its better than what I am getting health care wise right now, which is nothing, and I have been paying taxes in this country since 1979.

Went to Alabama for a week. Small town--Centre--some stores closed since the start of the summer. Called a mechanic I met and got the crazy noise when there is no such phone. Drove down to his shop--closed up tight.
Now this will piss you off- it did me and my wife-----
we went into Kmart to shop, (I do not shop Walmart), and they had a PC both for job applications and they were advertising in Spanish.
I went to Cobb Schools online and looked at parapro jobs. There were three jobs. One said, "Spanish preferred". The last I looked, this was America. I shouldn't have blinked.
PS This summer, went to upstate NY (Bedford. Mount Kisco, etal) and Connecticut--(Danbury). Call me a profiler, but almost every person I saw in the streets looked like an alien.
It is beyond decency when Americans like you and me cannot find work and employers advertise in Spanish. It is beyond decency that almost every Georgia DOT road project crew that I drive by is populated by aliens (Shame on me, profiling again).
As bad as things are, they would be a lot better if illegals were not hired. Many of us would take most work if we could find it.
Somebody told me that it was illegal to hire illegals. That cannot be true else why would so many aliens (profiling again) be working at all the places I went to???
I have run into a lot of that in my job search. It has gotten to the point that white Americans literally need not apply.
What little of the stimulus money that is out there to fund jobs is going to illegals.
You should see how the illegals are treated (like honored f'ing guests) at the unemployment office in Kennesaw. I can't go near the place for fear I will get PO'd and arrested, as I about blew a gasket last time I was there.
I am thinking about getting a really dark tan and learning Spanish.
LOL-If I eat enough bean burritos, and drink enough Tecate and Tequilla, I might just pull it off, too.
We are losing our country, and damn fast.

Where is the office in Kennesaw?? I would like to take a look. My son was doing business with a placement group in K'saw, (near Old Town grill), and told me (about a year ago) that the people at the agency had become all (pick a profiling noun)and were giving the jobs to people that looked like them.
I think your suggestion makes a lot of sense. I think everyone is up for better coverage for everyone, but Obama's way is always a government takeover where everything sucks. Oops. I was raised to not say "sucks." Stinks then. Really stinks. ;)
Dad cooked breakfast on the weekends , he had five choices,(omelets, french toast, pancakes ,waffles and grits) one of which was grits/w fried eggs and bacon, my order was sunny side up, butter on the grits, with just a pinch of pepper, yummy!
We kids weren't allowed jelly on our toast till we finished the eggs and grits. My sister just discovered that it was ok to eat toast with jelly before the eggs were consumed. Akin to no swimming for 2 hours after eating..
Dad was a lifegaurd too..geez Man on the moon 40 years ago, I was in a motel in Price Utah with dad...We went outside and looked at the moon, just like yesterday, I still miss my Rocket Scientist Dad.
I miss mine too. What I wouldn't give for one more conversation. One more Sunday morning watching him lead the Choir. One more fishing line tossed in the pond. One more corny joke. Just one more time!
...and if you ever see me post something (to a trolling type) like: "Really? You are still on this?", that is code for "please shut up already!" [Because, of course, "shut up" is also on the list of what-not-to-say, even if I put a "please" with it.]
Parenting runs deep, doesn't it? If I slip, I have a little Catholic guilt ... and I'm not even Catholic. ;)
"Well, I never" -- that's too cute! And I have to admit that I only say "please hush" or "shhh" to my son when it's called for...so I guess you can call me Grandmaw. LOL.
Speaking of son's it's my son's 36th birthday today...just got done having a long conversation with him, I sure miss him on days like today being we are the miles apart.
I'd sure love to physically give him a hug and a kiss and all that jazz.
Oh well the phone lines have to do at times. ;-)

U.S. should pay for carbon content of imported goods-Locke
SHANGHAI, July 17 (Reuters) - To address the serious threat of global warming, Americans should be required to "pay" for the carbon content of goods they consume from countries around the world, a top U.S. official said on Friday.
"It's important that those who consume the products being made all around the world to the benefit of America -- and it's our own consumption activity that's causing the emission of greenhouse gases, then quite frankly Americans need to pay for that," Commerce Secretary Gary Locke told the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai.
This is a huge issue, and one that the liberal media will absolutely refuse to cover. Of course the democratics want to cover illegals, it's practically in their platform, but it can't be debated.
Right you are..the msm will be hush-hush about illegal's as much as they were during the campaigns of both candidates when it comes to this issue, as both candidates wanted .
Doubling down on stupid is not a particularly good idea. ~Andrew Breitbart
At some point of embittering clarity, Americans will open their eyes to
the glaring significance of the Obama era and see the Power Grab Years
for what they are.
That is a masterpiece of understatement.
I keep thinking of that Angela Lansbury line from "The Manchurian Candidate"...
.....with powers that will make martial law seem like anarchy!
Astoundingly, the 'Ron Paul' choice also led online polls on 'the best places to live in the USA', 'the best barbecue in America', and the 'favorite American Idol judge'.
When Romneycare goes bust so will his future for prez. I think that once Palin puts some shine back on the apple that she will be the force to reckon with. Despite all that they have done to try and destroy her she still is hugely popular with Republicans and she will start to get the independents and some dems once they actually see what she is like. If we can have a college professor that has never run a hotdog stand in his life why not a governor with less than a full term? If she runs on the Republican ticket she has my vote but if she tries to go a third party I would have to think twice.
All one will have to do is keep reminding people about Romneycare and he's done.
Palin, if you follow her on twitter, is chomping at the bit. She is very restrained as Governor, even on twitter, because of the loons and their continual abuse of the ethics complaint system, which is why she stepped down in the first place. But you can tell she is ready to come out swinging.
The test will be the mid-terms. If she does as expected, and wins a bunch of seats for conservatives, she will own the Republican party. She owns the base now. But if she is effective as we figure she will be, it's over for the rest.
Speaking of Ron Paul, anyone catch that loon calling Sarah, and her supporters, "country club Republicans?"
Funny thing, Paul and his wife actually belong to a country club in Lake Jackson. Sarah and Todd do not! They do, however hunt moose and commercial fish. Somehow I don't see a woman who is cool being photographed in waders covered in fish guts being the country club type!
If obama essentially becomes a lame duck within his first year how will his enormous ego be able to handle it? Can the press continue to sing his praises enough to keep him sufficiently stable? The office of President has enormous powers. What if he uses them in an overtly reckless way? Will subordinates risk insubordination to stop him?
I don't see this guy taking rejection with nearly as much class as W did. With him, it's all about, well...Him. Once he begins to melt down, lose popularity, and then appear to be the loser in 2012, I predict he'll take the junk yard dog approach: if you can't eat, or f*** it; just tear it up. He'll lose his cool and try outrageous stuff on us.
Maybe then folks will really begin to wonder about his true national origin because no true American would do that.
The end of all this is as predictable as any mathematical equation, which, when it comes to money, is: taxing and spending makes voters broke, and they will then vote in lawmakers who cut taxes and spending. Period. Ronald Reagan came out of nowhere to wipe out the press-revered Jimmy Carter in 1980. The same fate awaits Obama if he pursues his socialistic economic policies.
Romney is a RINO, and that poll is God-awful depressing.
I fear about the only way the stoopid sheeple are would get off their asses and get riled up about anything is if the federal government comes along and bans People Magazine and cancels American Idol.
Sadly, most Americans are just way too far behind on the learning curve in noodling out what Obama is truly up to, and I don't think enough of them are going to catch on in time to stave off disaster.
I hope I'm wrong, but the history of free republics on this planet is decidedly not on our side.

I agree, and we won't be in dependence for too terribly long given that the treasury is pretty much already depleted and government revenues are plummeting.

I'm not saying its impossible to turn this around, but it is going to have to be done soon.
And this time, merely halting the slide will not be enough. The bricks on the road that brought us to this hell are going to have to start being pulled up one at a time-meaning much of what the left has done to this nation, particularly over the last 60 years, is going to have to be un-done.

I can't say that I disagree. I go between being feeling like our country is spinning out of control beyond repair to feeling like as bad as it's been, people are starting to get it -- which gives me that hope for BIG change for 2010 and 2012. If we can make it that far.
But no doubt about it -- damage has been done. Some things will have consequences for years. But I still feel like we can rectify the bulk of this -- but it's darn close to not being the case. NO MORE socialized lunancy can be passed! If healthcare becomes nationalized, we're all sunk. And while huge amounts of money have been wasted as the economy floats on steroids, I feel like we can eventually get that back, as well as the automotive industries. Obama has so badly messed up that huge first stimulus package that I don't feel he will be blindly trusted anymore, and his eloquence won't cut it. I just want to see him held off as much as possible until we can get checks and balances restored.
My prayer is that this mad experiment of socialistic governing is hitting the independents & less conservative Republicans. You can't get something for nothing...and you can't claw into the solid foundation of America -- compromising values & morals because it's easier -- without paying a huge price.
After Romney's gratuitous lying about Huckabee, and his flip-flop-flip on abortion, he's got an uphill battle. But it's not unforgivable or insurmountable.
Palin's fight is maybe tougher than Romney's, but she's got a steady message she's carried throughout. She needs to take a side on Global Warming.
Step aside, the both of you, when Liz Cheney takes the stage. That woman could be our Maggie Thatcher.
HA Ha Ho! That's a good one. Which on got on national television and said, "You know, Mormon's believe that Jesus and the Devil are brothers!" Huckabee. He's a disgusting rat. That wants the media to like him. No different from McCain.
I don't see Huckabee running again. His show is killing any image he had.
I think it was in the form of a question like "Don't they think Jesus and Satan are brothers?"
But you're right. If Mormons and Romney believes Jesus and Satan are brothers, it's no business of ours, is it? All we're trying to do is choose a leader, right? No big deal, right?
look how smart both her parents are. And contrary to what those think who are always trying to get Dick Cheney jailed, they all have wisdom -- which I don't think all high IQ people have. Liz is also so composed and has that very important quality of inspiring confidence, but without coming off as cocky in any way. She seems very well-read and disciplined to me too, so she seems to have the whole package.
Neil Cavuto Goldman Sachs just bucking trends it is what any company
does to survive? Goldman Sachs is doing just fine in the present
financial environment.
I have one basic question about which I have been curious since BHO started ravaging the economy: If BHO is so smart and has surrounded himself with all those super-smart people, then why in the heck doesn't he understand that the way to stimulate the economy is to cut taxes and reduce government spending. why do all these experts keep banging their heads against the wall trying to figure out how to stimulate the economy when the anser is right there in front of them?
Make that two questions: Why don't our so-smart leaders recognize the fact that paying for illegal aliens is one the primary reasons our economy is in the tank? For example, why won't California come out and admit that its economy lies in ruins because 25% are receiving free medical care, free educations, and free public service without paying a cent in taxes? Duh?
I always wanted Romney to win the primaries. I thought it was a disgusting crime when he did. The media let Huckadoof shine with his asinine comments towards the man's religion and when Romney was out of the picture the moron was tossed aside for the Democratic Mummy and the Alaska Gov. In a perfect world Romney won the primary then smashed Obama because he actually campaigned and was a competent person.

No in a perfect world Jesus Christ would rule over us all with righteousness. Romney is a dirty RINO and questions about his religion were merited as ones about Duh One. Only Duh One had the backing of the SCM. The SCM only played the GOP as fools because they wanted the weakest canditate.
I guess the GOP are fools for not coming out with a strong conservative. Perhaps the GOP is pasty its prime and a new party needs to come out its ashes. A conservative one.
But, are the sheeple to far down teh path of damnation to change to the hard one?
The other thing I think everyone has missed here is that we've been relatively safe for the last eight years.
I'm still worried about Biden's "tested" remark. I don't think for a minute that Al Q has given up, if we have another attack of some sort, Bamster and his "man-made disaster" crew will be run out of town on a rail. He's already well into chewing up the CIA (with this rumored investigation nonsense) and tamping down the military's effectiveness with silly ROEs. Further, I believe Obama will try to strip away much of the military budget to fund his socialistic tripe....he just has bigger fish to fry right now (can you say healthcare and cap & tax?).
I only hope we can survive his first term relatively unscathed (both economically and from a military/terrorism standpoint). Romney, Palin, Guiliani, at this point it doesn't matter one iota to me. Anyone but Obama, hell, I'd even get a thrill for Hillary if she tries to cut Bamster off at the knees (which she will, I'm sure).
Screw that pirate stand-off crap, that was like a snap quiz you got in grade school on Monday mornings. This situation over in Afghanistan will really shed light on this idiot's apologetic stances.
And believe you me Al Q is watching closely, too. I just hope he doesn't turn it into another Tehran rescue cluster f.

I still think it would be stupid for terrorist to attack the US when the current government, from idealistic Marxist to weak kneed Republicans posing as Semi-Conservatives, is destroying the nation quicker than any terrorist cell.
A person may be won over with logic and reason but the masses must be bought with spectacle and platitudes. - 2008 Elections
I agree it would be "stupid"....but they're not known for thinking strategically, are they? Remember before the 2004 elections and Bin Laden sticking his big nose in? Boost for Bush.
Ignatz has it right, too. Afghanistan is going to be troublesome for The One. It's funny how we don't hear the lefties shrieking in the rafters about "no more war" any longer.
I don't trust Obama as far as I can throw him when it comes to our military. I truly believe it's his intention to strip out as much hardware as he can, and then demoralize the troops by cutting back everything he can get away with, while the media flies top cover. This latest no-smoking ploy is just a hint of things to come. Next up will be something rediculous like taxing housing allowances, etc.
I have some shovel ready projects for The One. How about really good enlisted housing? Upgrading on-base schools. Oh, and he could beef up Champus before attempting to socialize the rest of us.
Oboohoo is showing his immaturity over the waning support for ObamaCare and Crap & Tax - he looks like he's going to have a temper tantrum any moment.
Let's not forget that Barry the Bowing Submissive released the 5 Iranian "diplomats" three days before the Iranian elections. Was Obama trying to help Imadinnerjacket win? What about the allegations some of these Iranians, maybe all, helped kill our troops?
Just another thing to add toall the things we aren't supposed to know about Obama.
Let's not assume that the Bamster will be running for reelection. If things get bad enough be might hang it up, a la LBJ, and he will certainly be challenged by Hillary or a dark horse in the democratic primary.
The Corner pointed out yesterday that the Washington Post today is backing off of their earlier stories on Abu Zubaydah. The Zubaydah case was Exhibit #1 that the democratics used to put forward their case against Enhanced Interrogation Techniques. Now WaPo admits that EITs turned Zubaydah into 'a font of information' that absolutely led to further arrests and kept us safe from terrorist plots.
Don't expect this to generate much discussion in the liberal media. The new information is kind of inconvenient.
What the numbers would look like if the media were honest about Obama's plans and didn't try and assasinate Palin every chance they get.
Wait till the bottom drops out of the economy, the world chooses another "reserve currency" and the dollar is worth 25% what it is today. All this might happen by Christmas 2009.
Have they tried to spin that 500 grand door yet? I bet Rahm has a special assistant to exclusively monitor Drudge. And they probably make a damn good living at our expense.
Nails on chalk-board is right, we see him, we click it.
I can't take anymore...although I will listen to the presser Wed. night out of curiosity of how the press is going to conduct themselves, let alone if there are the usual set-up by the O-Team with Rahm leading the way.
Doubling down on stupid is not a particularly good idea. ~Andrew Breitbart
Starting about a month ago, I starting putting the "mute" button on whenever he came on (it's all the same crap anyway, so I don't think I'm missing anything)...but now, I can't even look at him. Seriously, can't look. I just asked someone on here if his hair was greying -- because I look away that quickly. Like the sun, he could burn my eyes. That's how much he angers me. I get the way when someone tries to take away our country.
I believe Mitt Romney is a fine man and would make an excellent President, but there are too many religious bigots in the Republican Party that would rather sit on their hands than vote for a Mormon. This is a sad aspect of the party.
Well for this religious bigot there is only one Christian religion and Mormons aint in there. So there. As a President Romney was an ok pick but he is a RINO, just look at the healthcare debacle in Mass. So get ur head out of the dark place and wash it so it dont stink no more.
It's far too early for this...but they never quit, it worked last time for the msm and the political geniuses on our side of the aisle... made me mad then, still does today.
Doubling down on stupid is not a particularly good idea. ~Andrew Breitbart
Agreed; in fact by electing the Bamster, the democratics may have effectively moved the Presidential candidate fields of both parties into his generation. Anyone of the Newt/Mitt/Hillary generation may be out. It's hard for me to see how a candidate 20-30 years older than the Bamster could defeat him in 2012 or win in 2016.
Newt sticks his finger in the wind deciding which way the wind is blowing and comes up with some kind of title of a so-called new plan of attack and acts as if he originally just thought it up...after it's been out there for a long time to begin with in the first place.
I finally had my fill of him when he had that so called debate with Kerry on Global Warming crap, drilling etc.....why little Newtie basically agreed with about everything Kerry said, it was barf-bag time.
I don't remember if you were here with us early that morning when this was broadcast live on C-SPAN and we all were commenting, you may not have been because of time differences...anyway, that was my final straw.
He's been in DC too long...I'm not going into all else he has done over the years as I have posted all about it anyway over the years here.
He's a great college history professor, he should stick to that, he would really be contributing to a cause as most of the college professors are liberal...well, you know where I'm coming from here.
I'm in such a hurry here in between things...hope you understand all my blather.
Doubling down on stupid is not a particularly good idea. ~Andrew Breitbart
Yep; been suspicious of Newt for a long time, but he completely lost me when he jumped into the Warmist camp with the most superficial of O'Reilly-style logic. He is capable of outbursts of brilliance and the most disgusting pandering all in one appearance. Let him be one of the great thinkers of the Republican Party, but don't let him run for anything.
...and who could forget him smiling side by side with Pop-Up-Pelosi sitting on the little bench or couch or whatever the heck it was...while they adored each other.
Btw...did you see my early post about your ham post and Rush mentioning it right off the bat this morning, now Hannity is!
You were right on top of the game yesterday...like I said then, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry regarding this.
Doubling down on stupid is not a particularly good idea. ~Andrew Breitbart
I agree, Misterbill. I get why he irks some people. Yeah, the Global Warming thing was goofy. And yeah, he has the political baggage where he can be personally attacked...but if I could pick someone right this minute to take over who knows the in's and out's and gets everything and would do a really solid job of bringing our country back on the right track, it would be honestly be Newt. He's smart and perfectly capable. I also don't feel he'd ever do anything crazy, and that's big for me these days! LOL. He would reset and improve things & knows how to get the job done well. He would turn things back around, and that is my concern at this point.
Too funny. I went back to put a P.S. on my post, but you beat me to it with your reply. I was going to say: "And I swear I am not saying this because I live in Georgia." LOL :) I still am keeping an eye on Liz Cheney, and I'm hopeful on that front. I'd love for her to set herself up for 2012, but she needs to take the steps to get there...and who knows if she would even want to do that.
And yep, I certainly fear Obama. I feel like us conservatives are being forced to play the "Whack a Mole" policy game. Every time we turn around, there's some nutty policy he is trying to force through...and just when we start pounding away at one of his goals, another one pops up -- and none of them ever seem to totally go away. Arg! ^_^
While I admire her--it's pretty much the same as Sarah Palin--except less experience in governing. We have that today in Obama. America will not swing for a newcomer--not after what the MSM has done to Palin. A couple of putdowns and the MSM will win over the 30-40-% of GOP voters who will not vote for her.
Maybe I am wrong, but I think Newt's image will shine by 2010. Remember--I am not disagreeing with you about Newt playing the political game, I am just going with my knowledge of his skills.
I would not vote for Cheney--Dick that is. He is even more of a globalist than GW or Obama. I do not know where Liz is on that issue.
This is just old misterbill, but no globalist will ever get my vote. I wish Americans would watch "The Patriot" once a year and get the same feeling of national pride that I get. They would never endorse anything save Americanism.
Romney blows in the wind--check out his health plan in Mass.
Giuliani--consummate pol.
Huckabee--today--anti -illegal yesterday pro amnesty--tomorrow??
Ron Paul?? Good but-not a chance since the MSM and many sites including this one made him a national cartoon.
And to be honest --our love affair with Sarah--count me in- does not make her a good choice against an experienced and fully conservative Republican or independent.
I'm afraid I see that the GOP will not recover for the next election--it will have to be 2016 and I will be so old I will brag about breathing Brian Williams' tail wind!!!!
Wait, wait--I have it--how about Specter?? A republicrat (or some kind of rat)?
I agree with you on where you are coming from regarding your ideas, but never Newt....and you've known that from years back now when it comes to my opinion about him...and I've remembered your various posts too.
One thing we totally agree on is watching 'The Patriot'...we both watched it here again about 10 days ago, it is my favorite movie of all time, and I have stated as such here and there before. ;-)
btw...regarding that movie, never was there the credit it should have been given in my opinon. Heath Ledger was great in that also.
Doubling down on stupid is not a particularly good idea. ~Andrew Breitbart
"I agree with you on where you are coming from regarding your ideas, but never Newt....and you've known that from years back now when it comes to my opinion about him...and I've remembered your various posts too."
I know how you feel, but I ask, how did you force yourself to vote for McCAIN??Would you have chosen McC over Newt in the primary?
I am just pointing out why the GOP is in deep doodoo until 2016.
There is too geat a divide. I don't even have to jold my nose to vote for Gingrich. I can discuss some of his political tactics and dislike them without the same viscertal response as voting for McCain or a realtive unknown.
I do know, of course , that the polls may show me to be wrong and Anmerica will fall in love with Sarah and she will get good ratings. Even so, I can't lose because she will be better for us than what we got.......
The bald hatred of Sarah still puzzles me though! Especially when it comes from women and especially more when those women are conservatives.
I don't want to rush anything already on who our candidate should be, we have a long way to go misterb.
As far as Palin, if you're referring to me, I don't hate her at all...she just isn't my cup of tea, I'm getting tired of people saying if you don't like her, and you're a conservative woman you are supposedly jealous of her, just not true, I didn't care for her from way back misterb...before most here even knew who she was other than FS...I'm tired of defending myself about it...I've stated my reasons numerous times, as far as I am concerned if you followed her before she became famous, you may have seen it the way I do, then again maybe not, she reminds me of McC when it comes to playing both sides of the aisle and I'm leaving it at that.
I get sick of being in the minority at times too when it comes to some issues...but it is what it is.
We all can't agree all the time...it wouldn't be natural.
Btw...Besides me posting about Liz, I have championed Bachmann and Blackburn, both beautiful conservative women to-boot.
Plus when it comes to what the msm has done to Palin's family, it makes me furious, it's been despicable and I have defended her and her family when it come down to that....always will.
Doubling down on stupid is not a particularly good idea. ~Andrew Breitbart
Good heavens old friend--you hate palin?? No--I am talking about NOW, Kathleen Parker--any number of newswomen and celebs who climbed all over her and I didn't see what caused such intense feelings against her.She made it easier for me to vote for McShame because she was a fresh face and displayed a down home honest demeanor which Mussolini-Obama does not do.
I do remember what you said and how you felt. I certainly did not mistake you for a PDS person or on the other side, an "I want only Sarah" person either.
I know a bit about Bachman and she is A-1. I will check Blackburn out.
And as you may remember--I thought Ron Paul had the best stand on most issues.
My point in the last response is that we conservatives are too widely spread in our views of possible candidates; whereas the Obamaphiles are united in their blind idolatry of him for any number of reasons that should not be important to anyone except him. (You know, the first black yata yata, the handsome demigod, the genius--(woops, I just vomited), et cetera.)
To put ir succinctly, he sucks and they cannot see it.
The wide spread is what I see as possibly defeating us in 2012. On the other hand if the Messiah keep screwing up as he is, we may be able to get any number of people into the WH.
Indeed misterb...she was a much needed breath of fresh air into McC's campaign, we all felt it...it was like a gift after him and his tired pathetic tactics...throwing all conservatives under the bus on his way.
If he would have left her alone, and most of all not voted for the Strangulation Bill, he would be Prez in my opinion, but he did the opposite...the old foolish RINO.
...and to top it off, on election night, the speech he gave was infuriating, oh yes it was.
Why Mr O I will reach across the aisle to help you all I can...we all must stand and work together...blah blah blah.

Palin's numbers in this poll are astonishing! Given that most of her exposure has been negative and the much greater coverage (of course) that The One has gotten (maybe people are just getting sick of hearing about Him?) and even Romney and Huckabee.
Some thoughts on what I would like to see Palin do:
1. Get more positive coverage on TV including paid ads. Go on Fox News and spar with the Bob Beckels they have on there so we can see what she's all about concerning issues...I'm still foggy on exactly where she stands on some things though I think I get her on the whole.
The MSM and the Democratic "strategists" want to hear about what programs YOU Sir/Ma'am have in mind, but the problem is a true conservative doesn't think in terms of "programs", social engineering, tax and spend, etc. so for a society conditioned to expect all that from a candidate it's a difficult problem to surmount. I'd say that what's happening now should be enough for most voters to get it.
2. Let the boys like Huck, Mitt, Ron, etc. tear each other up. If they get on Sarah with mud-slinging that will turn off most Republicans and independents because (if you haven't noticed) she is a lady after all. Let them expose themselves for the RINOs that most of them are. People won't want to hear about "reduced spending" and "cutting back on Obama's programs"...they'll want that stuff dead, dead, dead. They'll want to hear ideas more along the lines of Reaganomics.
3. See if she can get Bobby Jindal to be her running mate...and do it early. I don't think he has the horsepower to be President at this time, but I have been thinking since last year that a Palin/Jindal ticket would be very powerful.
But, as pointed out above concerning The One's self appointment with Human Destiny I'm not at all convinced 100% that there even will be a national election in 2012. Or, Palin or whoever could be 10 points ahead in the polls and Dear Leader will mount a last second comeback and win with a good 6-7 point margin. I don't trust these Commie SOBs.
One of the 34% who thinks George W. Bush was a great President. One of the 61% who wants to bring back the stock and pillory (yep...approval for Congress now at 39%...do you believe that!?).
The Bamster's popularity ratings are now ranked 10th among the 12 most recent Presidents at the same times in their Presidency. Third from the bottom. Perhaps now all the yammer about his popularity from the liberal media will stop? Will they report this?
Gallup: Obama's Approval Ratings Ranks 10th of 12 Most Recent Presidents: http://hotair.com
It's a count of likely voters, meaning all of those dopey kids that voted for him as well as youung blacks that were first time voters are essentially not counted at all. Nor is anyone that has missed the last few elections, but voted for Obama and more than likely would again.
Realistically, he probably has Romney beat by 7-8 points when factoring in all of those voters that are not yet considered "likely" voters, but will surely vote for him again, no questions asked.
He likely has Palin beat by 15-18 based on left out factors as well.
The poll is nice to see and gives a spike of hope, but after you realize all that is left unaccounted for (1st time voters, youth, blacks) its just another nothing poll.

July 20, 2009 - 09:17 ET by KC MulvilleObama's election depended on Bush's unpopularity, and the collapse of the economy.

This could be an exceptional primary
July 20, 2009 - 20:25 ET by needleI suspect that Sarah Palin will be very active supporting candidates she favors, and criticizing Obama and his supporters during the 2010 primaries, as well as the November election.

KC,
I think the problem is that a presidential candidate is like what they say about an elephant: that it's a horse designed by a committee.

July 20, 2009 - 17:58 ET by misterbillWent to Alabama for a week.

July 20, 2009 - 18:09 ET by R D HelmI have run into a lot of that in my job search. It has gotten to the point that white Americans literally need not apply.

July 20, 2009 - 09:29 ET by rammingspeedThe end of all this is as predictable as any mathematical equation, which, when it comes to money, is: taxing and spending makes voters broke, and they will then vote in lawmakers who cut taxes and spending. Period. Ronald Reagan came out of nowhere to wipe out the press-revered Jimmy Carter in 1980. The same fate awaits Obama if he pursues his socialistic economic policies.
Thoughts?
July 20, 2009 - 09:32 ET by R D HelmRomney is a RINO, and that poll is God-awful depressing.

History of free republics
July 20, 2009 - 11:10 ET by jdlybrandI've posted this before, but here goes again:
From bondage to spiritual faith
From spiritual faith to great courage
From great courage to liberty
From liberty to abundance
From abundance to complacency
From complacancy to apathy
From apathy to dependence
From dependence to..... BONDAGE
I think we're at apathy on the cusp of dependence.

July 21, 2009 - 15:34 ET by Georgia GirlI can't say that I disagree.

I hope he fails, too.

Re Newt
July 20, 2009 - 14:44 ET by slickwillie2001Yep; been suspicious of Newt for a long time, but he completely lost me when he jumped into the Warmist camp with the most superficial of O'Reilly-style logic. He is capable of outbursts of brilliance and the most disgusting pandering all in one appearance. Let him be one of the great thinkers of the Republican Party, but don't let him run for anything.

You were right on top of the game yesterday...like I said then, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry regarding this.

Gotta disagree here--
July 20, 2009 - 15:01 ET by misterbill--even though I agree with most of what you folks wrote.
Who do you think is better than Newt, with all his faults???? or
Who knows more history??
Who is more opposed to illegal immigration??
Who is more opposed to cap and trade??
Who is more opposed to "hate crimes"??
Who has developed a better plan to restore America??
All last campaign, I came here and every day, it was, we have to go with the "least worse", the "lesser of two evils"
As of today, Newt is just that-the lesser of many evils.
Again, I am mostly in agreement with the comments here--but--as of today, I can think of no GOP person who is better in all areas.
Newt...
July 20, 2009 - 15:13 ET by Georgia GirlI agree, Misterbill.
Okay, everybody can jump on me now. LOL.
Georgia girl--
July 20, 2009 - 15:15 ET by misterbillUs georgia folks will be accused of bias---LOL!!!
I do believe he is the most knowledgable about the USA and what we need to do to maintain our sovereignty.
As to our current leader-- the only people who fear him --is US!
Misterbill~LOL
July 20, 2009 - 15:24 ET by Georgia GirlToo funny.
Arg! ^_^

July 20, 2009 - 15:27 ET by bigtimermisterb...
I'll take Liz Cheney anyday over Newt.
I don't want the same old same, old anyway.

Not with you on this--
July 20, 2009 - 15:51 ET by misterbillWhile I admire her--it's pretty much the same as Sarah Palin--except less experience in governing.

I don't want to rush
July 20, 2009 - 16:19 ET by bigtimerI don't want to rush anything already on who our candidate should be, we have a long way to go misterb.

July 20, 2009 - 17:44 ET by misterbillGood heavens old friend--you hate palin??
Indeed misterb...she was a
July 20, 2009 - 18:12 ET by bigtimerIndeed misterb...she was a much needed breath of fresh air into McC's campaign, we all felt it...it was like a gift after him and his tired pathetic tactics...throwing all conservatives under the bus on his way.

Palin's numbers in this
July 20, 2009 - 14:31 ET by RR GOPPalin's numbers in this poll are astonishing!

July 20, 2009 - 22:25 ET by ImAllRightI put ZERO stock in this poll.
