Released on Wednesday, the poll was glaringly absent from most news reports late last week and over the weekend.
Bozell today called on the media to stop reporting on the American health care system as a "crisis" situation, as the facts simply belie the claim.
Mr. Bozell:
"The media need to stop acting like arsonists when it comes to their reporting on the U.S. health care system, starting a fire and then suggesting to put it out the government takeover of 1/5th of our economy.
"There is no health care crisis. The American people are overwhelmingly satisfied with the health care they currently receive. The media should report this instead of helping incite for the socialist solution - the government making our most vital life and death health decisions.
"The real crisis here is the crisis of confidence that the American people have in the media. The press need to stop creating calamities where there are none, and instead do what they are charged with doing - reporting the facts."

health insurance, are "very satisfied" or "satisfied" with the health
care they currently receive.
Well that just proves how stupid Americans are; we don't even know how bad off we are and how lousy things are!
All the more reason that we need the Glorious Leader Obama and his minions to take care of us.
If they are so worried about "the uninsured" why don't they just create a national "insurance" plan that anyone who doesn't have insurance through an employer or private plan, can sign up for, and leave the rest of us alone!!
Because we all know that simply providing insurance coverage is not their goal; the "takeover" is the goal.

Pelosi's Willie Sutton mentality
Mon, 07/20/2009 - 10:16 ET by KC MulvilleSee this article from the Politico ... How are we going to pay for this enormous healthcare reform?
Pelosi wants to assure her Democratic minions; don't worry, we're only taxing real millionaires. But think of what that means.
Now, I don't have much sympathy for millionaires, either. But that's precisely the point: I don't think policies should depend on sympathies.
If you can generate money by whipping up resentment, what's the difference between that and hatred? What's the moral difference between taxing rich people because they're rich and taxing Republicans because they're Republican? Or Catholics because they're Catholic? Does having money make you a target? That's the Willie Sutton attitude: he robbed banks because that's where the money was (the morality of robbery in the first place didn't seem to deter him.)

Mon, 07/20/2009 - 10:32 ET by celatorKC.. not only can we not afford Obama's Health Care Rationing and Get-Used-To-Hospice Bill, but his bill will destroy the current health care system, which is pretty darned good.
No citizen's right to life, liberty, pursuit of happiness, or property is safe as long as Obama is President of the United States.

Mon, 07/20/2009 - 10:49 ET by BlondeUnfortunately, there are millions of sheeple who get their "facts" from the MsM (you know, the ones who believed in Uncle Walter and AGW).
I'd love to see him spread the word there, but of course, that wouldn't fit the media paradigm. It was great to see Mr. Bozell said the media wold go down with Obama when he takes the fall, though. Today wouldn't be soon enough for me.
I hope he fails, too.
About the newsreaders
Mon, 07/20/2009 - 10:50 ET by mcherrThere is no news unless they dig it out or they make it up. Making it up is far easier.
Watching a local news show only confirms the fact that EVERYTHING is some sort of horror show to be talked about, EVERYTHING is a crisis.
Report the facts!!!????
Mon, 07/20/2009 - 11:03 ET by c5thenThe MSM doesn't know what that means anymore. All they are is a HUGE lobby for the liberal agenda anymore.
This is all about the high cost of health insurance, not the cost of health care. The vast majority of health insurance today is actually pre-paid communal health care costs. Instead of paying $400 to $500 a month to an insurance company, some families are opting to bank that money to pay for doctor visits, perscriptions, x-rays, etc. Then all you need is a relatively inexpensive policy to protect you from catastrophic losses if a major illness or hospitalization is needed.
Health care costs started rising uncontrollably with the advent of the HMOs. They really don't care what they pay, as long as they are making profits. Once you divorce the consumer from the awareness of the costs, that allows them (the costs) to rise uncontrolled.
The only real reforms that are needed is portability (take your health insurance with you to a new job if you want) and allowing inter-state health insurance. I can buy my car insurance from Georgia and my homeowners insurance from Nebraska, why not my health insurance from Missouri?

Mon, 07/20/2009 - 11:53 ET by Chris NormanThe only "crisis" is the panicked thirst for power Obama feels to take over a fundamental part of peoples lives and 1/6th of the American economy. He's like a little kid throwing a tantrum to get a new bike: "Waaaaaah! But I want it now!!!!!".

Mon, 07/20/2009 - 12:17 ET by jessieHThe govt. dipped their hand in the SSI & medicare "cookie jar", then tell US "we have a crisis". They caused the problem, as usual, and WE got to fix it. The only way to fix it is to get rid of the ones that caused the problem in the first place.

Mon, 07/20/2009 - 12:33 ET by seaniepI picked up the Sunday paper - St Pete Times - a horrible left wing rag, the Parade Magazine inside of it had on the cover a story about the "Childcare Crisis" . . .? I was completely unaware of THAT crisis

I saw the same thing, Sean.
Mon, 07/20/2009 - 13:15 ET by ckc1227I saw the same thing, Sean. I thought to myself "where the hell did THIS crisis come from".Then I hid my wallet.
Yes, a childcare crisis....
Mon, 07/20/2009 - 14:42 ET by SarahAnnieI saw and read that story as well. I babysit 3-5 days a week for $2.50 per hour. Good, inexpensive childcare is possible without government intervention.

Mon, 07/20/2009 - 15:32 ET by SarahAnnieGreat to see you too, bt! Just been too busy to post, but not too busy to read most of the articles here at NB.
If I recall correctly, the Parade Magazine article was talking about how the cost of childcare was anywhere from 400 to 1100 A WEEK!! How, seriously, can anyone justify charging (or paying) that much? I realize that children are VERY important but at what point is one parent's entire paycheck just going to childcare? Call me old-fashioned, but I think the old ways are best (in most instances), Daddy brings home the bacon, Mama stays at home with the kids.

Bernie Goldberg--
Mon, 07/20/2009 - 14:54 ET by misterbillBernie Goldberg-- wrote about day care "problems" and "issues" in his "Bias" book of 2001. Well worth the read.
The MSM can and will create "issues and problems", "benefits and goodness" through their eyes and will attempt to swing all opiniomns their way. Is that what journalism is supposed to be???. While on vacation and away from my internet news this summer, I was once again reminded why I do not watch the lies, the sins of omission and the crusades of the MSM anymore.
