I never knew Rush was
July 13, 2009 - 08:53 ET by Dan The Man 2I never knew Rush was appaointed or elected to any office? Rush is a talk show host on radio and some people listen to him, nothing nmore nothing less. I do think more listen to him than any politician, and many more trust what he says. I dont listen to him, I have in the past but radio doesnt do well in my building. I used to listen to religeous programming instead anyways.

July 13, 2009 - 09:18 ET by Cape Conservativeallow them to somehow skewer Rush! However, they are such fools to do so because HE LOVES IT! He doesn't make his statements without realizing liberals are going to go ballistic when they hear them ;-) He's not the most successful radio talk show host in history for nothing, you know...and he's MY KIND OF GUY! GO RUSH!

Remember Specter
July 13, 2009 - 09:02 ET by slickwillie2001Let's remember that Specter is no longer the senior Republican Senator on the Judicial Committee and savor that fact. He's a junior democratic Senator on the same committee, so he sits at 'the kid's table', not high up on the dais like most of the royalty in the room. He will get less time to speak and might not even make the TV newsclips.

That's a pretty good new word, mb...do I have your permission
July 13, 2009 - 18:49 ET by Cape Conservativeto use it on occasion ;-)
I, too, used my day 'elsehow' - the past hour and a half was spent watching the Weather Underground documentary that Glenn Beck has on his webpage today...all I can say is it was worth every minute! At the end it finally states it was made in 2003...however, I guess it was kept under strong wraps during the presidential campaign last year.
A couple of things jumped right out at me...a comment right out of the mouth of Bill Ayers (and others) was that they were going to target 'the rich' - warning 'the rich' that they were coming for them! Seems our current president learned well from his buddy over the years about 'targeting the rich'!!! Second was the fact that THREE of these people who admitted taking part in bombings and were the LEADERS of the movement ARE COLLEGE PROFESSORS! I guess the fact they were LEADERS IN 'DOMESTIC TERRORISM' was no problem in being hired to teach young impressionable college students!
After watching the documentary, I am QUITE OFFENDED that Homeland Security felt the need to identify those of us who attended PEACEFUL Tea Parties or, heaven forbid, were returning combat veterans who had been risking their lives fighting the enemy for the safety of our country!!! were to be considered "Domestic Terrorists"! IF Homeland Security wants to see just what Domestic Terrorists look like and sound like and the horrible things they do, they should spend an hour and a half watching the good professors in their youth!

That's just the usual
July 13, 2009 - 09:41 ET by motherbeltThat's just the usual liberal intimidation tactic. Whenever a Republican (and Rush will tell you he's not a Republican, nevermind a Republican leader; he's a conservative) says something they don't like, they run around to every Republican they can find, asking them if they agree with it, threatening retaliation if they don't denounce it. Good for Mica ignoring them.

July 13, 2009 - 09:31 ET by jaywlA few thoughts on Soto. Leahy is accusing anyone that criticizes her nomination as belittling, creating caricature, distortion; in other words say NO evil things about this woman who will be the second most ugly woman on the court. Schummer is doing what he does best. Saying she has voted with the majority 83% of the time--Mainstream! As if a man that makes a bank deposit 99% of the time can't be a blackguard bank robber, after all!
Sessions is giving her hell now. Soto has learned her lessons well, in the preparation. She has not moved a muscle, she is staring at some point, hardly even blinks. Amazing.

Strange ACORN Case
July 13, 2009 - 09:26 ET by slickwillie2001Something really odd going on with the ACORN Crime Syndicate in South Carolina:
ACORN Shenanigans in South Carolina: http://www.redstate.com
"Recently, the Smosska Corporation swooped into Florence, South Carolina promising to instantly create some 400 new jobs with an assurance of 3,000 before next year is out. For an area that needs jobs this seemed like welcome news.
Last week a job fair was held in Florence by the new company at which free health care was offered those that would be hired. At that time an aptitude test was taken by applicants if, that is, they had the $40 fee to pay to take the thing. The company claimed this “fee” would be used to pay for drug tests if they were hired. This fee, however, made some people curious."
As it turned out, the Smosska Corporation is a subsidiary of a subsidiary of ACORN. Let's hope South Carolina journalists (?) dig into this, and maybe the state police in SC as well. This stinks to high heaven and the liberal media is unlikely to cover it.

July 13, 2009 - 09:34 ET by KC MulvilleThe premise of the ad is that Sotomayor couldn't possibly be a racist. Why not?
Since the premise of the ad is that Hispanics should support Sotomayor because she's Hispanic, it's a waste of advertising money. When individual Hispanics (who aren't racist already) see this ad, it offers them no reason to defend Sotomayor. And what about individual Hispanics who are racist? The ad tells them nothing new either; except maybe the actual telephone number of the Congressman Mica.
By the way, I used the same rhetorical technique they used in the ad. I called Obama and demanded answers. His response? Silence.

A racist recession?
July 13, 2009 - 10:11 ET by HillbillyKingWho knew that a recession could be racist....
David R. Jones, president and chief executive of the Community Service Society, which lobbies on behalf of low-income workers, said he did not “think this recession has gone out equally. Low-wage workers and workers who lack skills are really getting hit hard,” he said. “These are the workers who are sort of fungible. They lose their jobs very quickly, particularly in retail, the people who move boxes and do unskilled work."
Still, Mr. Parrott’s analysis painted a stark picture of how uneven the effects have been for whites, blacks and members of other minorities. His figures show that whites gained about 130,000 jobs in the year that ended April 30 over the previous 12 months, but blacks, Hispanics and Asians all lost jobs during that period. Employment fell by about 17,000 jobs for blacks, 26,000 jobs for Hispanics and 18,000 for Asians and other ethnic groups, the data show.
Of course given that this is a report from the N.Y. Slimes, well, I guess its just their party line etc.

July 13, 2009 - 12:39 ET by SickofLibs"For conservative minorities, especially conservative minority women, Sonia Sotomayor’s nomination and the warnings from the left not to “bully” her are a reminder of the double standard with which we live out our social and political lives. The recognition that there are two separate rulebooks for minorities: one for liberals and one for conservatives. In the liberal rulebook, whites must be sensitive and considerate of a minority’s life story and the unique obstacles he or she faced and/or overcame. In the conservative rulebook, well, there really is no rulebook because there are no rules. It’s always open season on conservative minorities." - Rachel Campos-Duffy

With all that in mind, I jumped over and subscibed to Rush Limbaugh's newsletter, became a 24-7 member and sent a donation to two anti-immigration groups. I live in a town that has been taken over by Mexicans and I can assure you the problem of their bringing their nationalism here is much worse than the general public thinks it is. Absolutely the ad speaks for itself - IT IS RACIST and anyone who denies it is a racist! I am so sick and tired of minorities saying whatever they want to say about anyone they want to talk about and it is never called what it really is!
Loved the caller to Rush today who was in Sotomayor's class and said that the "poor darling who wasn't exposed to the Classics" comment from who was it, Leahy?, was an OUT AND OUT LIE! The school she attended had everything - all she had to do was go to the library. This 'divide and conquer' political world has got to end! My thread for the day . . .
July 13, 2009 - 12:33 ET by bioteachedI wonder when someone is going to ask the current administration why the American public should trust them on health care, cap and trade, etc. when they admitedly "misread" how bad the economy was? The President recently said that it wasn't that they misread the economy, but that they did not have all the information (imply, perhaps, that some was withheld from them?). Someone needs to ask him if he his sure that he has all the information on climate change, all the impacts of his health care reform agenda, and everything else he has planed!
Making decisions based on incomplete information is about as amature as can be. Where is the media follow-up on this one?
biot - I would also like to know when he is going to follow
July 13, 2009 - 19:34 ET by Cape Conservativethrough on his promise to post all bills for 5 days before voting - and also I seem to recall him saying he was NOT going to sign any bills with 'earmarks' - hmmmmmmmmmm Guess he has a short memory!
I wish there were enough Republicans who didn't think it was so important to bring the $$$ to their districts that they would hold his feet to the fire on the 'no earmarks' - that would cut government expenses immediately!

Thanks to Sarah Palin
July 13, 2009 - 13:59 ET by Gary P JacksonThanks to Sarah Palin African Women Vying for Presidency
Sunday, 12 July 2009 00:00
Last year's Miss Malawi Perth Msiska abandoned her crown to pursue
politics. She cited Sarah Palin as her influence. Palin who was
herself a beauty pageant in Alaska went on to be the state's governor
who was later selected to be John McCain's running mate in the 2008 US
Presidential Elections. Though the Republican ticket failed, Palin's
political aspirations encouraged many women around the world to reach
out for political office. It is believed that the current Malawian
President, Bingu wa Mutharika was also inspired by John McCain when he
picked Joyce Banda as his running mate. Banda who is the first female
Vice-President in the history of Malawi is hoping to represent her
political party in the 2013 Malawi Presidential Elections.

Thank you, Gary for posting this...
July 13, 2009 - 17:14 ET by BO STINKSA huge blessing to hear how Sarah is such a positive influence. Have a feeling there are many more examples of her influence with young people.
I wish we could hear about these examples more often. Thanks again

July 13, 2009 - 15:40 ET by Cool ArrowObama has chosen Dr. Regina Benjamin, an African American, to be his Surgeon General.
I have no doubt that she's probably a wise African American female, but does this mean Obama's obviously inferior white male doctor gets kicked to the curb?
