While network news anchors such as CBS's Harry Smith are still gooey in love with President Obama, the White House correspondents for the networks are a little tougher on the chief executive, MRC's Tim Graham told Fox News's Bill O'Reilly on his June 23 program. [audio available here]
TIM GRAHAM: I think there's always been a difference between the guys in the White House press room who are trying to nail down the inconsistencies in what Obama is saying, trying to nail down his campaign promises, and the Harry Smiths and the Brian Williamses and the Diane Saywers.
There's really a disconnect, really, between the White House reporters who, for the most part are a little tougher on a daily basis and then the anchors who have been just yeah, beyond the, just [having] that dreamy look.
BILL O'REILLY: I agree with that. The anchors are obviously pro-Obama almost across the board.
Earlier in the segment, O'Reilly asked Graham about a moment in a recent interview where CBS "Early Show" anchor Harry Smith tried to bait President Obama into taking a swipe at George W. Bush by insisting the former president thought the current one "treacherous":
O'REILLY: I thought President Obama handled that [well], you couldn't criticize Obama for that, could you, Tim?
GRAHAM: I just think it's funny, the jarring nature of that. In that Harry Smith had granted Obama a very favorable, very positive interview about fatherhood and so on. And just to go from there to saying Bush thinks you're treacherous, that you're treasonous. I mean, I think it is kind of funny that it was so over-the-top that even Obama felt he needed to correct it a little.

It will be the major
June 24, 2009 - 11:10 ET by bedmondsonIt will be the major network's detriment if they continue on this pattern as evidenced by Fox News. FNC now gets monster ratings every night and will continue to do so because the other networks will not show conservative views readily. I guarantee you that if abc, cbs, or nbc suddenly put a more balanced voice on their nightly news program, ratings would sky rocket. They really seem to be putting political ideology before ratings and money.
I liked it when he had
June 24, 2009 - 11:51 ET by RR GOPI liked it when he had Glenn Beck on there. The look on BOR's face when Beck couldn't think of anything positive to say about Obama.
Shock!
Of course, BOR gave Dear Leader kudos for 'sticking up for' George Bush. Didn't win any points with me given his constant bashing of Bush even after he won the election. Petty little Commie cuss.
One of the 34% who thinks George W. Bush was a great President. One of the 61% who wants to bring back the stock and pillory (yep...approval for Congress now at 39%...do you believe that!?).
Personality over policy
June 24, 2009 - 12:42 ET by KC MulvilleWe have the never-ending tension between people who like a politician because of his policies, versus others who embrace policies because they love the politician.
The in-house reporters at the White House make their living by reporting, challenging, and explaining policies. That's why the pro-Obama adulation will stop (or slow down) there first. I doubt it'll ever die, unless Obama implodes into a Jimmy Carter. But if and when the love slobbering affair dwindles, it'll start there first. They'll expose his policies.
The big 3 network anchors, who resemble Ted Baxter more and more each day, don't get caught in the details. They fancy themselves as 30,000 foot viewers. They don't want to ask Obama about federal outlays 10 years from now. They want to ask Obama about his feelings. They love Obama's personality, but let's face it, they don't understand solitaire, never mind Obama's policies.
Obama & Liberal Media
June 24, 2009 - 16:15 ET by CycloneHogThere are cracks in the love affair between Obama and the media. This Newsy story digs deeper into the criticism the liberal media is leveraging against Obama.

Sure, most of the criticism is the result of health care, but the honeymoon Barak has enjoyed may be ending soon. We'll see.
Coming from a guy (BOR) who licked Obama's boots...
June 24, 2009 - 17:46 ET by farstar99...not terribly impressive or brave. One clandestine meeting with Obama was all it took for Rupert Murdoch and BOR to start serving the master during the election.
Now that the Fairness Doctrine looks less likely for this year, perhaps he feels safe acknowledging the reality of the fascist state he helped deliver.

Come on, farstar. You know that O'Reilly can put up at least one e-mail saying he's too tough on Obama to "prove" that he's fair. He does it almost every night. :)

O'Reilly helped Obama get

The O in O'Reilly...
June 24, 2009 - 23:34 ET by jdripperstands for Obama. This guy is firmly in the tank for the messiah. Anyone doubting that is not being observant.
Just one point. O'Reilly beat John Edwards like a rented mule during the primary last year for saying in his stump speech that veterans are sleeping homeless under bridges. He brought in experts and thoroughly discredited Edwards.
After Edwards dropped out of the race the messiah incorporated that line into his stump speech. Not one time did O'Reilly question it not even when he had the messiah in a face to face interview.
O'Reilly is the biggest spinner on cable for people he wants to see win.
