March 10, 2009 - 07:06 ET by allanfMany well heeled New Yorkers are suddenly concerned about paying higher taxes in a time when their portfolios have been savaged by falling stock prices. For the most part (Obama had 85% of the vote in Manhattan), these New Yorkers looked down their highly educated noses at George Bush and embraced Obama as a "grown-up" leader.
At least on higher taxes, Obama was clear during the campaign. Why are these New Yorkers upset? Few revel in the opportunity (to paraphrase Joe Biden) to be patriotic and pay higher taxes. Now they complain that they are not so wealthy in a town where residential rents can run $5000.00 a month.
You are getting what you voted for.
