I just got back on line and haven't checked any news sites yet, but I don't think it's over yet.  From I heard before however, it doesn't look good for Coleman.

Back by popular demand, today's Shrub Report®:

Today in obscure, meaningless history: 943 years ago today, Harold Godwinson became King of England. If you know your math, 943 years ago was 1066. The poor bugger was only king for 10 months, when he became the last Anglo-Saxon king as well as only one of two English kings to die in battle, thanks to an unlucky arrow to the eyeball at Hastings.

Moonbattery indeed?

One reason was many of the parents of the children here had very
negative connotations of school. Instead, we want this to a be a place
for family learning, where anyone can come. We were able to start from
scratch and create a new type of learning experience. There are no
whistles or bells or locked doors. We wanted to deinstitutionalize the
place and bring the
school closer to real life.

Will these people get over themselves already?

Alaska Senate poll: Palin

Alaska Senate poll: Palin 55, Murkowski 31

Oh no! SILHAO!

No representation, without taxation!

Ah yes, a Palin poll

And if you read PopT's link all the way to the bottom, you'll find this little gem (hmmmm):

A poll commissioned last month by the Web site dailykos.com showed Palin beating Murkowski 55 to 31 percent, although local pollster Dittman says he has concerns about the methods used to arrive at those numbers.

Doncha just love seeing someone get hoist upon his own petard of PDS?

Afternoon, J. I wonder if Poppy here realizes that...

...his repeated posting of half-baked stuff like this has pretty much destroyed the once stellar credibility he had here at NB?

PDS must be pretty potent if it causes people to allow it to wreck their reputation.

“Them that’s going get on the wagon. Them that ain’t get out of the way.” -Because enough is enough.

Dave

Dave,

I made this very point a couple of days ago.  ns

Noel & J,

LOL-If either of you ever see me come in here and use DKos as a source for anything (and that includes what day of the week it is), call the Cobb County Police Dept., because it will mean that my computer has been hijacked and I am surrounded by people with guns.  :-O

-Dave

“Them that’s going get on the wagon. Them that ain’t get out of the way.” -Because enough is enough.

Some of us prefer death

Before dishonour. :-O

In order to be pro-choice, one must first be born. Ah, the irony.

Willco, D.

The funny part was that the DKos thing was aaaaallll the way at the bottom.

J,

He probably just saw the headline and grabbed it.

Pretty sloppy, I'd say.

Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

-Dave

“Them that’s going get on the wagon. Them that ain’t get out of the way.” -Because enough is enough.

RD - Sloppy? LMAO!

Reading Comprehension Blonde?

Yes it was at the bottom, refering to a different poll. LMAO!!!!!! Oh my god I cannot stop laughing.

Carbon Dioxide (CO2) is Not Pollution

JJ

JJ,

Astounding. Now we have a supposedly conservative member using DKos polls to bash the most popular conservative politician in the country, and he thinks he doesn't have PDS!

Absolutely unbelievable. Yet, I think we should stop all this talk about banning him. After all, if NB is going to tolerate a conservative with PDS, doesn't that differentiate us from the Netroots? :-)  ns

NS

For the record, I have never, not once, suggested he should be banned.  Nor whined to the masthead about his blatantly repetitive and abusive posts, either.

Personally, I prefer to see his PDS out in the open for all the world to see....the DKos poll had disproved his whole point....it had Palin ahead.

The local poll at the top of PT's link contending Palin was a loser referred to the contrary DKos poll at the bottom.  Apparently there was some deficient source evaluation going on.....go figure!

Don't ban UNPopularTech

He's my muse. :-o

In order to be pro-choice, one must first be born. Ah, the irony.

To be clear, Noel.

It was my link that referenced the poll conducted by Research 2000 and commissioned by dailykos. I gleaned it from Pops link. My point was to say who gives a rats asterisk what these polls say.

And yeah, I agree with you on not banning PT. Annoying as he can be.

No representation, without taxation!

  Maybe just from the

Maybe just from the Sarah Palin threads...

My computer has this really cool feature. Whenever I see a post I don't want to bother with, I can click on this bar thingie on the side and move it up or down, and the post goes right up out of the top or down out of the bottom of the screen.  (I rarely use it though, because I get a kick out of the banter)

Well, sheryl

As long as you don't repeat yourself.....

:D

That bar thingie.

I tried using it earlier on Noels' story "Ann Coulter: Media Wanted To Have Sex With Obama". No matter what I did, the story was always there repeating itself. Noel's computer is probably infected with SSS.  :)

You're a treat Sheryl.

No representation, without taxation!

  Karma, Those are the ones

Karma, Those are the ones you HAVE to read through...  Who knows, maybe Noel would have put some pictures in there so we didn't have to rely on our imaginations. (I am picturing a crowd of TV, Newspapers, Magazines chasing Ann Coulter around a desk.) It is very funny in my mind...  Probably better that there are no pictures now that I think about it.

Maybe it was just my computer,

but when that story was originally posted, it was repeated three times in a row. It reminded me of you and I thought Noel had developed Sheryl Stutter Syndrome. Or maybe you're some kind of genius computer hacker person.  :)

If the TV had caught her, the Newspaper and Magazine would have reported that she was in bed with the media.

No representation, without taxation!

Sheryl...you're a superstar!

We now a name for multiple posts (more than a double)....Sheryl Stutter Syndrome.

Karma let them embarrass themselves

Don't help them out, they are making themselves look ridiculous on their own.

Carbon Dioxide (CO2) is Not Pollution

Embarassed much?

Your anti-Palin link.

At the very end.

Totally contradicted your LMAO post.

Who looks silly now, PopT?

Try reading to the end of an article, before you link it.

A hint.

You support results from the Daily Kos?

LMAO! Oh I definitely look silly trying to dismiss my poll I linked with results from the Daily Kos.

Carbon Dioxide (CO2) is Not Pollution

Ever the reading deficient PopT

The first poll you linked on this thread, cookie.....had a DKos poll at the end (last para for you...since your head is apparently still in Loma Linda).

So, yeah, PT....you look sillier than a box of rocks...since you linked to a site that referred to DKos, and which entirely refuted your stupid PDS header.

Care to try again, sweet cheeks?

So does that make Newsbusters inaccurate?

When they reference something from the DailyKos and say they believe it to be inaccurate? Oh how silly I look.

So now anything that even mentions the DailyKos even in a negative way is not objective! LMAO!!! Too funny.

Carbon Dioxide (CO2) is Not Pollution

No

It makes you reading deficient.  (It was your link, after all).

And incapable of source evaluation.

But carry on.

Please explain Blonde - LMAO!

Please explain how my source mentioning (in comparison to) a DailyKos Poll that has NOTHING to do with the poll done by Dittman makes me reading deficient and incapable of source evaluation? It literally say...

"Pollster Dave Dittman just finished a statewide survey on
a possible Palin-versus-Murkowski matchup - and Murkowski beats Palin,
at least in this poll, hands down.

Murkowski garnered 57 percent to Palin's 33 percent; 9 percent said they were not sure. [...]

A poll commissioned last month by the Web site dailykos.com showed Palin beating Murkowski 55 to 31 percent, although local pollster Dittman says he has concerns about the methods used to arrive at those numbers."

Can you not read? LMAO!

Carbon Dioxide (CO2) is Not Pollution

Yawn

Next time....read to the end of an article before you post it as "proof".

Sure, I can read....to the end of an article.

Too bad you are too A.D.D. to attempt it.

Lata, Pop!

I did read it!

Please explain how referencing a Daily Kos poll at the end of the article disproves the Dittman poll at the beginning? Do you now support the Daily Kos?

Carbon Dioxide (CO2) is Not Pollution

Morning Bruce

I'm on the East Coast, went to be right after that post I'm staying up WAY too late playing with you guys. Mommy needs her sleep!

In order to be pro-choice, one must first be born. Ah, the irony.

C'mon y'all, sing along

C'mon y'all, sing along

  • Troll, troll, troll along, rudely down the thread
  • Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, smack Palin in the head.
  • Don't y'all feel better now?

    Just to make sure

For those who haven't navigated to your original post.....showing, yet again, your PDS....here is the text of PopT's "argument" (emphasis mine).

ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Even with the last election barely two months in the rearview mirror, some in the national media have speculated that Gov. Sarah Palin might make a run for the U.S. Senate in 2010 as a prelude to running for president in 2012.

But a new poll out Monday shows Palin would have a tough time if she decides to take on Sen. Lisa Murkowski.

Pollster Dave Dittman just finished a statewide survey on a possible Palin-versus-Murkowski matchup - and Murkowski beats Palin, at least in this poll, hands down.

Murkowski garnered 57 percent to Palin's 33 percent; 9 percent said they were not sure.

And given the senator's popularity, Dittman says Palin would not be wise to challenge Murkowski.

"And I think there would be a feeling, too, of overreaching -- going too far, too aggressive, too much too soon -- if Sarah decided to run for Senate," Dittman said. "When you've already got someone there with seniority, who most people think is doing a good job, I think it would be a huge mistake."

Murkowski sent what many viewed as a veiled warning to Palin a few weeks ago, telling politico.com, "I can guarantee it would be a very tough election ... If she wants to be president, I don't think the way to the presidency is a short stop in the United States Senate."

The governor's press secretary, Bill McAllister, says Palin has never indicated she's thinking about running against Murkowski.

"It's unfortunate that we keep talking about this rivalry that doesn't exist," he said. "She has not said, and I don't think needs to say, that she's going to rule something out in terms of her political plans in the future. But she's very focused on being governor now, does not see herself as a rival to Senator Murkowski."

And McAllister points to a newspaper opinion piece Murkowski and Palin co-wrote recently, stating they are not rivals.

"There's no reason to think that she's vying for a Senate seat," McAllister said, "I mean, in politics I suppose you never know what's going to happen."

And in the world of politics, that is often the key question.

A poll commissioned last month by the Web site dailykos.com showed Palin beating Murkowski 55 to 31 percent, although local pollster Dittman says he has concerns about the methods used to arrive at those numbers.

    Reading Comprehension Blonde - LMAO!!!

The poll I linked was done by Dittman, that is just a mention to the Daily Kos Poll. Try rereading it Blonde, you are embarrassing yourself.

At the end, which Dittman disputed the tactics...PT didn't write the story.

PT doesn't have reading comprehension problems here, but others do.

    Dittman is a big-time

Dittman is a big-time anti-Palin dude. Someone had a link up on another site about this very thing, and he has been at the Palin bashing awhile now. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.

Dittman is not the Daily Kos

But the Palin Collective was so desperate to defend their messiah they failed reading comprehension 101.

Carbon Dioxide (CO2) is Not Pollution

Pop, I have said before, you

Pop, I have said before, you are the one who has reading comprehension problems!!!!! Where did I mention Daily Kos? Or say Dittman was associated? You really come across as a goober, you know?

A guy who will intentionally misquote someone

You should expect nothing less from PopTech, a guy who will intentionally misquote someone just to try and win an arguement.

"Gov. Palin has been subjected to one of the most massive and dishonest pile-on smear attacks in the history of liberal media."  -- Lowell Ponte

    Nothing intentional about it

You will have to do better than that with your desperate smear campaign. I understand the embarrassment, you being wrong about so many things.

Carbon Dioxide (CO2) is Not Pollution

    tbdi... I don't care

    tbdi...

I don't care myself one way or the other who is for who regarding this, the point is PT posted to a link that stated from the Ak. news Palin was losing to Murkowski in the poll from Dittman, simple as that, the end of the report was a poll done by the Dailykos, PT was not linking to a link from Daily kos...does anybody ever admit when they are wrong around here?

I know I have in the past.

It would be nice if others would do so too.

This is the last time I am going to say this, well, I should never say the last time, but not every single person in this country is behind Palin or anyone else for that matter when it comes to the next President, I will not join any group thing for any reason just to belong or get adoring acceptance from other posters here...we should all be able to share our own differing opinions, if others don't like them, move on after stating your case.

PT and I have had our differences in the past over different things with Palin, still do, but this gang-up thing is past sad to me, he has been here a long time and has contributed a lot over time, I find this sad with the we all better love Sarah or else we have PDS...same thing happened here with McC.

Not gonna' happen to me again.

Sounds fine to me, it is your decision how you want to handle whatever. I only said one thing, and it was not in defense of anyone, just imparting information. I am however, tired of being attacked for any comments regarding the Palin family, and innundated with links I don't want to read, so I don't read them. I will no longer respond back to Pop Tech on this matter, what anyone else does is their business. I just don't have the energy or inclination to do so. I  wasn't aware of anyone having a universal view on anything here, nor it being a requirement. However, some things do get tiresome, and I've only been posting here a couple of months. I think everyone here is an adult, so I will not attempt to decide what is the best way for them to respond to any posts.

    POP shouldnt be responded to

He operates as a bore .....he is enamored with the sound of his own voice .....its ok to have a strong opinion but when ones life revolves around how enlightened they think they are it is a bore .....there doenst seem to be any humility within Pop .. which would indictate his parents failed him .. my advice would be untill he carriers himself in manner that is humble then people should ignore him

    dumb bombs for dumb people

    tbdi... Hey good, well,

    tbdi...

Hey good, well, we agree then.

I have enjoyed your posts a lot since you have been here...I was just stating that PT put a post here and others are implying/stating that the link was from the Dailykos...

    It wasn't.

    Simple as that.

Tons of times I move on by PT and his links..others would do well to do the same.

Thanks, I enjoy yours, also. I just don't like to argue,  I have had enough of that in the real world to last me a life time. BTW, you said you had bad weather, where are you from? I guess I shouldn't tell everyone it is 68 degrees here right now, should I? Of course, we have had plenty of rain this week, too.

    tbdi... I'm where you

    tbdi...

I'm where you expect cold winters ect...but the last few years have been something else, so was about 13 or so years ago now...take too long to go into, but this has been the worst I have witnessed in temp. variations, how long they last, the snowfall levels, ect in this area, and I have been in this area on and off since I was 13, which is about 40 years or so now...planetary emergency indeed...

Where ever you are at, I wished I was there sharing a cup of cheer.

Sorry you are having such rough weather, that dang global warming and all. I don't mind saying, I am in Georgia, North of Atlanta. It is just a typical boring GA winter. Cold some days, and mild most. And just gray and boring. I know everyone that lives with it hates it after awhile, but I would love to get some snow. You should see how we rednecks act when we get 2-3 in of the white stuff! First, everything closes down, sometimes even the interstates, and then adults and kids alike act like goofy goobers in the snow. About 5-6 years ago we got like 8-10 inches, and my whole neighborhood just about got together and went for a walk. Isn't that hilarious?? I am sure you guys would crack up watching us. However, don't come down here when snow is predicted. None of us can drive worth a crap on snow and ice. It is like the smash 'em up derby. Just ask Dave, I know he lives across the state from me. I have never even seen "real" snow, over 6-7 in but about 10 times in my life. Come on down to visit now, and you can wear shorts with me.

    LOL tbdi... Hey, don't

    LOL tbdi...

Hey, don't tempt me, I may just do so...and I'll bring my shorts too, at least there a gal gets to wear them for awhile.

Seriously, I would love to make it south, lot of family start there, from both sides of mine.

"America isn't the problem...America is the solution." ~ Rush Limbaugh

    You made fun

You made fun of my short pants.

I love women in short pants. Nothing beats a great pair of legs.

Think I'll go have another sip of my homemade fruitcake.

I have to admit I am very

I have to admit I am very biased. Even though I have been out of the country a lot, I haven't seen as much as I would like of ours! I do love the South, though, people are very friendly here, it's pretty dang safe, we sleep half the time with our garage door open, all the windows, etc., and we are not in the boonies, either. The weather is great, just hot as all get out for about 6 mos. I want to spend some time in the midwest, I have no real experience there, and it is very pretty. As for wearing shorts, yeah, you get to all the time! My husband bought me a beautiful full blackglama mink when we got married, and I never get to wear it! I broke down a few times and wore it to grocery shop, because I wanted to actually get to wear it. Needless to say, I got a few looks. LOL>

    PopTechs personal Nixon Fit.

Good lord, here we go again.

Back in the 80's I knew an old codger who could not partake in a conversation unless he had an angle to badmouth Richard Nixon for SOMETHING.  It was like he was possessed.

Lack of fish in Island Lake? - Gotta be Nixons fault.

A huge blizzard blows through? - it is that damn Nixons fault.

I also knew another codger who when he met a new person would invariably broach the subject of "Coach Paterno" even if he was talking to an elderly and infirm grandmother.

We called this syndrome "A Nixon Fit" after the term coined by PJ O'Rouke in one of his books.

Well, Poptech has his own "Nixon Fit", and the subject of it is Governor Sarah Palin.  One wonders if PopTech does things as unrelated as attend high school graduations and starts his congratulatory comments to the graduate by saying "You know Sarah Palin is down in the polls today according to "Highfire.com"?

Perhaps we could get him disability for this condition?

Panetta as CIA chief-Lacks experience but has good judgement...

Haven't we heard this before?? I just heard Dem senator Ben Nelson say on Fox about Leon Panetta, exactly what we've all been told about Obamessiah... "What he lacks in experience, he makes up for in good judgement..." This is of course assuming that one believes that Obama does in fact have good judgement, which I don't feel he does.

Well, sorry folks, but I didn't (and don't) want a president who lacks experience, but "has good judgement" and I don't want a CIA chief with the same lack of experience. These are not jobs that you should learn "on the fly." As if Obama wasn't bad enough...Now we have to have an intelligence chief who also will be learning as he goes.

Panetta seems to be a decent enough guy, but he has nothing under the hood regarding intelligence matters. We are fighting 2 wars, so this is not the time for a novice in the White House or at the helm of the CIA...I'd love to know what President George H.W. Bush thinks of this pick...As a former CIA Director, his take on this would be very interesting.

    Pelosi's new rules, I do

Pelosi's new rules, I do hope are in effect after the mid term elections, when the republicans retake the house and senate. Then watch Pelosi scream how unfair the rules are. That woman cant think past her saggy parts.

Hey BT, babe! Well, I hope I am right to. I am counting on a reaction like we had with Clinton. After all, in 2 years, we should be able to see what Obama really has planed. Hopefully, the word will get out and we will see a revolt....

Save a SeAL, club a liberal!!

bass...it's so nice to have you back here...while I am usually a positive person for the majority of the time, it really has been a downer for so long politically now, that I needed your attitude to cheer me up, I may just get back to my old self after a week or two, or at least after this long drivel about this up-coming inauguration/coronation is over...I am so sick of all this, them watching the house and senate today was just beyond the same old, same old, only worse in my opinion.

    So you brightened my day!

    Thank you.

Drat! Jeb Says No to Senate Run

I was really hoping Jeb would say yes....he'd have been a shoe in.

Now we'll get all the second tier republicans....and the first tier obnoxious dems running for the RINO Martinez's seat (Wexler, Klein, Wasserman Shultz, etc.).

    I'm so sorry..

My wife sent this to me and I almost puked I was laughing so hard. Body function alert!

    Killer Chili

I went grocery shopping recently while not being
altogether sure that course of action was a wise one. You see, the previous
evening I had prepared and consumed a massive quantity of my patented 'you're
definitely going to $h!t yourself' chili. Tasty stuff, albeit hot to the point
of being painful, which comes with a written guarantee from me that if you eat
it, the next day both of your butt cheeks WILL fall off.

    Here's the
thing. I had awakened that morning, and even after two cups of coffee (and all
of you know what I mean) nothing happened. No 'Watson's Movement 2'. Despite
habanera peppers swi mming their way through my intestinal tract, I was unable
to create the usual morning symphony referred to by my next door neighbors as
    'thunder and lightning'.

Knowing that a time of reckoning HAD to come,
yet not sure of just when, I bravely set off for the market, a local Wal-Mart
grocery store that I often haunt in search of tasty tidbits.

    Upon
entering the store at first all seemed normal. I selected a cart and began
pushing it about dropping items in for purchase It wasn't until I was at the
opposite end of the store from the restrooms that the pain hit me.

    Oh,
don't look at me like you don't know what I'm talking about. I'm referring to
that 'Uh, Oh, gotta go' pain that always seems to hit us at the wrong time. The
thing is, this pain was different.

The habaneras in the chili from the
night before were staging a revolt. In a mad rush for freedom they bullied their
way through the small intestines, forcing their way into the large intes tines,
and before I could take one step in the direction of the restrooms which would
bring sweet relief, it happened. The peppers fired a warning
    shot.

There I stood, alone in the spice and baking aisle,
suddenly enveloped in a noxious cloud the likes of which has never before been
recorded. I was afraid to move for fear that more of this vile odor might escape
me. Slowly, oh so slowly, the pressure seemed to leave the lower part of my
body, and I began to move up the aisle and out of it, just as an elderly woman
    turned into it.

I don't know what made me do it, but I stopped to see
what her reaction would be to the malodorous effluvium that refused to
dissipate. Have you ever been torn in two different directions emotionally?
Here's what I mean, and I'm sure some of you at least will be able to
    relate.

I could've warned that poor woman but didn't. I simply watched as
she walked into an invisible, and apparently indestructible, wall of odor so
terrible that all she could do before gathering her senses and running, was to
stand there blinking and waving her arms about her head as though trying to ward
off angry bees. This, of course, made me feel terrible, but then made me laugh.
    .......BIG mistake!!!!!

Here's the thing. When you laugh,
it's hard to keep things 'clamped down', if you know what I mean. With each new
guffaw an explosive issue burst forth from my nether region. Some were so loud
and echoing that I was later told a few folks in other aisles had ducked,
fearing that someone was robbing the store and firing off a
    shotgun.

Suddenly things were no longer funny. 'It' was coming,
and I raced off through the store towards the restrooms, laying down a cloud the
whole way, praying that I'd make it before the grand mal assplosion took
    place.

Luck was on my side. Just in the nick of time I got to the
john, began the inevitable 'Oh my God', floating above the toilet sea t because
my ass is burning SO BAD, purging. One poor fellow walked in while I was in the
middle of what is the true meaning of 'Shock and Awe' . He made a gagging sound,
and disgustedly said, 'Sonofabitch!', then quickly left.

    Once finished I
left the restroom, reacquired my partially filled cart intending to carry on
with my shopping when a store employee approached me and said, 'Sir, you might
want to step outside for a few minutes. It appears some prankster set off a
stink bomb in the store. The manager is going to run the vent fans on high for a
minute or two which ought to take care of the problem.'

    That of course
set me off again, causing residual gases to escape me. The employee took one
sniff, jumped back pulling his shirt up to cover his nose and, pointing at me in
an accusing manner shouted, 'IT'S YOU!', then ran off returning moments later
with the manager. I was unceremoniously escorted from the premises and asked
none too kindly not to re turn.

Home again without having shopped, I
realized that there was nothing to eat but leftover chili, so I consumed two
more bowls. The next day I went to shop at Albertson's. I can't say anymore
about that because we are in court over the whole matter. Bastards claim they're
going to have to repaint the store..

    With apologies,
