MRC's Bozell on Time's Worshipful Obama Man of the Year Story

"The way they wrote this story... it's an embarrassment. If you go to the Obama for President site, you won't see the kind of language that Time magazine put in a news story," Media Research Center president Brent Bozell told viewers of the December 17 "Hannity & Colmes." [audio available here]

Appearing live via satellite from the MRC's new state-of-the-art studio, Bozell scoffed at writer David Von Drehle's syrupy write-up:

Look at this quote. I mean, [Democratic strategist] Kirsten [Powers] says that they're flowery. Get this: "We are all accustomed to that Obi-wan Kenobi calm, though we may never entirely understand it." What they hell are they talking about?!

Liberal co-host Alan Colmes protested that Time should be expected to "give an eloquent defense" of the choice:

COLMES: What, are they gonna bad-mouth the guy after they pick him?

BOZELL: Look, if you go back and you look at the Man of the Year coverage that they gave to George Bush or to Ronald Reagan, it was not a press release for those two. Go back and read those pieces.

Separation of the press and Democrats

We know liberals shriek to high heaven about the concept of "separation of church and state." With that in mind, let's ask for the separation of the press and the Democratic Party! This sickening fluff piece by "Slime" magazine proves that we need this separation more than ever.

The MSM has turned the concept of "freedom of the press" on its ear. it has become license rather than freedom. And when reporters step over the line, they hide behind the First Amendment and fancy themselves above accountability. Is it any wonder journalists are so widely hated in America?

No!

Journalists are not widely hated in America as you state. No! They have a 12% approval rating.

My goodness Mary Louise, that's even higher than Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.

I heard this last night

And Brent Bozell did a great job, as usual.

Obi-wan Kenobi calm, indeed.

However, Alan made an idiot statement..."cleaning up the mess we've been left these last 8 years".  I was truly suprised that Bozell didn't slap down such biased stupidity.

Would you say that the last

Would you say that the last 8 years have been a success?

On the whole, yes.

The current economic woes were brought on by irresponsible policies of social engineering by democrats.  Go figure.

Won't give an inch, huh?

Won't give an inch, huh?

So, Barney Frank (D) Chuck Shumer (D) Chris Dodd (D)

and the president-elect (#2 in political contributions from Fannie and Freddie) along with the Democrat leaders of Fannie and Freddie, who falsified the numbers to ensure big bonuses for themselves - DEMOCRATS ALL - are NOT responsible for the financial crisis?  Is that what you are saying, AZ???  That Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid have provided competent leadership for our country in the last two years????  I think NOT!

I asked if she would

I asked if she would consider the last 8 years a success.  Where did you get all that from my question?

→ ArkyZip

I'm much better off over the last 7 years.  Thanks for asking.

How have you done?

  • LYDSEXICS UNTIE!

Can't complain.

Can't complain.

→ What you'll discover

What you'll likely discover is the homeless phenomenon.

Remember how they all disappeared shortly after Bill Clinton got elected?  A lot of what is now reported as dismal right now may just as well dissipate once Mr. O takes over.

  • LYDSEXICS UNTIE!

I don't remember hearing

I don't remember hearing that.  Of course, I live right outside Detroit, so I guess they figured it'd be kind of hard to fool anybody here.

AZ

They disappeared from the news but not the streets when they were thrown under the Slick Willie express.

I thought the UAW had all y'all fooled up there.

Ha, speaking of the union,

Ha, speaking of the union, I got to work as a Teamster one year setting up the International Auto Show at Cobo Hall.  I only got to do it for a week or so, and I made $30 an hour, plus time and a half after 8 hours.  I've done plenty of different jobs - roofing, carpentry, restaurant work, bartender, retail, office work, landscaping, among other things (plus a stint as a Zamboni driver - easily the best job ever) - and that week with the Teamsters union was by far the least work I've ever been paid to do.  I actually got yelled at for carrying two chairs at time, because I was working too hard!  Now that's a cake job if I've ever seen one.  So yeah, I'm not feeling that bad about the unions.  You have to figure that if you're getting paid that much to do something that takes almost no time to learn, you should invest some of that money, because it's probably not going to last forever.

→ ZamboniMan

If that were one of my past accomplishments, I know of at least one Nickname I'd never consider.

  • LYDSEXICS UNTIE!

And of course, Zamboner.

And of course, Zamboner.

→ Or some variation

I'd drop the arkansaszippers in a heartbeat if I were you.

Have you any idea how many people would love to have driven a zamboni?

  • LYDSEXICS UNTIE!

Yeah, it was honestly

Yeah, it was honestly awesome.  I don't even like hockey.  You know what though - apparently hockey players don't like the Zamboni driver.  All of the hockey players in the beer leagues would yell at me and try to throw pucks under the machine, which is bad, becuase if you suck a puck up it costs a bunch of money to fix.  They're fun as hell to drive.  You can't use brakes on the ice, so you're just in a continual controlled slide.

I'm probably about to get dropped all together anyway though.  I must have pissed somebody off, becuase my home computer's IP address got blocked.  I can't get on this site from my house.  The weird thing is, I can still get on the site from work, and they didn't actually close my account, so I don't know what's up.  I don't think I broke any of the rules of the site.  I don't call people names or swear; I'm not a conservative, but I didn't think that mattered.  I've gotten into some debates with people, but that's half the fun of coming here.  But like I said, they were always civil; nothing profane.  Who knows.

This site is addicting though.  I guess I'm a glutton for punishment.

→ It's not NB

If it was on the NB end, your profile wouldn't be available for viewing.  It's probably your browser at home.

I don't think I'd change the nick to pucksucker, but it would be funny.

I saw the piece too

I saw the piece too and wondered why noone took up the "8 years of mess". I like Allen generally, but I've tired of his disrespect of the President. It's too bad that he's going because I would like to see him have to support themis steps etc. of Barack during the next few years. It would only be far to Hannity to get a chance to throw stones Allen's way..

Just as I wonder why NO Republicans stated the facts regarding

the financial mess the Democrat-led Congress got us into...and, with the domino-effect, the entire world - what a bunch of CROOKS - and why was the entire Republican leadership quiet?  I thank each and every Republican representative or senator who has had the courage to speak out.

Of course the media was quiet as a church mouse...had there been a Republican they could have pinned it on, the racket they would have made would have been unending and deafening!

A PROUD member of the Oogedy Boogedy branch of the GOP!

Don't you think that maybe

Don't you think that maybe both parties were to blame on this one?

 yes the repubs are to

yes the repubs are to blame for not forcing it down the dems throats the many times it WAS ADDRESSED!!  but they caved to the filibuster and political pressure by the DEMS, yeah blame them both because the repubs allowed the dems to institute their failed policy

here's one example from 2003:

Time mag. is dying nearly

Time mag. is dying nearly as fast as the NYT.  We must all be patient while these liberal nonsense rags wither away.

This type of reporting won't last long.  At some point they will, or maybe already have, become a parody of themselves.

In the last century there were a few magazines that nobody ever thought would go out of business.  They both reported on politics on a regular basis, they were McClure's and the Saturday Evening Post.

I think the SEP may still be in business but not near the readership it once had.  And it had to be brought back from the dead.

So I suspect eventually Time and Newsweek will fade away also.

I hope our cancellation goes into effect before this issue - if

it comes in the mail, it will go STRAIGHT to the trash - to be immediately covered with coffee grounds and egg shells ;-)

Be more specific...

"COLMES: What, are they gonna bad-mouth the guy after they pick him?"

Alan, please be more specific.  Did you mean when they picked him as man of the year or when they picked him as their candidate to push for the presidency of the United States?

Coke

When they sniff the white stuff, most people get very aggressive. But there are are few who become quite calm and deliberate. Humm...

NEVER,NEVER trust a "liberal"

Hence, why he will always

Hence, why he will always be the Allmighty Shahinshah coke-head Obama to me.

So it shall be written.

More MSM Propaganda

Time Magazine is an Obama pimp. Plain and simple. They are a laughingstock, and are pushing themselves down the drain with this kind of silliness.

they are all pimps

every single one of them.  Even the ones that seem like they might be on the fence (Joey Scarborough) when they get on the phone with the Obama team suddenly they are falling all over themselves again.  Its sad and pathetic.

Obama adulation

I have never before experienced the fear and apprehension for my country that I feel now about the next four years. Propaganda and suppression of truth should be wake up calls for every person that has allegiance to the USA.

You expressed my fears very well, ATP!

Hypothetical

If one of us went as a reporter for Newsbusters to one of the Allmighty Shahinshah coke-head Obama's press conferences.

A) What are our chances of asking him a question?

B) What are the odds that he will deflect/not respond to the question?

Scoob,

LOL-I think a better question would be, would we even be let in the door?

Time magazine's "Marxist of the Year"

Time magazine's selection of Obama as man of the year should more accurately be called "Marxist of the Year." And comparing him to Lincoln and FDR is a twisted travesty of the truth. Abraham Lincoln, a Republican, helped to end slavery in the Western world while FDR, a Democrat, tried to put African-Americans "back in their places." FDR's National Recovery Act (NRA) was referred to by black leaders of the day as the "Negro Runaround Act" because it kept blacks out of many higher paying jobs.

Not only was Woodrow Wilson, another Democrat, an avowed racist but he and FDR both admired the leading Marxists of their day -- from Mussolini to Stalin and Hitler. Thus, if only a tenth of the real history of Democrats were known, the Democrats would be with the aforementioned bigots and dictators in the dustbin of history. Maybe there's still "hope" for this, after Obama and his henchman re-create the madness of the 1930s more openly than any other time since.

[Obama's key backer is George Soros, who helped Nazis clear out Jews in his native Hungary as a child. Soros admitted to this in a 60 Minutes interview in 1997 in an interview about the Asian currency crisis which he helped to create in the fall of that year. Today, he has done a similar thing  to our financial industry in the United States. But to Democrats, only Bush and Enron!]

Comparison

Abraham Lincoln was called Honest Abe. He was a Republican and his allegiance was to the country and the people. He was not a Marxist. There is absolutely no comparison in any way between Hussein O and Abraham Lincoln and I for one am gettin sick of it.

yeah, that's what I'm saying

I hope you will re-read what I wrote. I am saying that same thing as you. I'm going to assume that you simply read my post too quickly; however, I know how the Marxists operate and you might also be someone trying to obfuscate the meaning of what I wrote with deliberate and malicious intent.

Soros

I am truly concerned that our current financial state is caused in large part by the financial and propaganda manipulations of George Soros.

Just saying, that his man is on the way to the White House.

I saw this last

I saw this last night...

Thumbs up Brent Bozell!
