MRC's Bozell Discusses Kennedy/Palin Double Standard, Iraqi Shoe-thrower Bias

  • Bookmark and Share

Appearing live in the D.C. studio of Fox News this morning, MRC President Brent Bozell talked with the "Fox & Friends" gang about the media's lack of concern about Caroline Kennedy's lack of experience in elected office [audio excerpt here]:

Caroline Kennedy, God love her, has zero public experience, and I'm putting every single one of my liberal friends out there who spent the last four months trashing Sarah Palin, I'm putting them on notice that they better have something to say about this woman.

Bozell noted that some Democrats in New York have raised concerns about assigning the Clinton Senate seat to Kennedy, but scoffed at media outlets acting as dutiful Kennedy stenographers:

I was reading in the Washington Post this morning. Some friend of Caroline Kennedy explained this as saying that she's had a long dormant desire. She discovered this year that she's had a long dormant desire? What does that mean?!

The same media outlets, the NewsBusters publisher noted, scoffed at Sarah Palin's "lack of experience" although she is the sitting governor of Alaska.

In a second segment later in the 6 a.m. half hour, Bozell put his foot down about the media dancing for joy at the shoe-throwing incident in Iraq this past Sunday. Bozell noted that most networks, with the exception of NBC and Fox News, failed to note that had reporter Muntadar al-Zaidi attempted to chuck his Chuck Taylors at Saddam Hussein that he would be summarily executed.

They will just say.....Plain

They will just say.....Plain was running (just a heartbeat away) for VP of the county.  Kennedy is just going to be a Senator.  The experience (lack of) is irrelevant.

Caroline Kennedy has been

Caroline Kennedy has been "long dormant?"

What is she, a 17-year locust that missed the previous hatch?

Long dormant equals

Long dormant equals non-existent until just now.

In other words, she never wanted to work or prove herself qualified for a Senate seat, but she'll take it if it's handed to her!

It will be handed to her.

It will be handed to her.  NY's Gov Paterson will just give her the keys to the office.  He can't see the writing on the wall.  PUN INTENDED.

Of course it will

Of course it will be.

It's all about the "Divine Right of Kennedys."

kennendy's non qualifications

Let's face it, Sarah is one of ours, Caroline is one of theirs, with a Senatorial "legacy" to uphold.Maybe she'll run into the East River with a young man in her car and not report it, or cheat on her husband with Brad Pitt,(as a substitute for Monroe).  What does it matter? Do you expect a fair shake or even equivalent , what passes for "reasoning" from them ? Really??

Sarah is one of ours, Caroline is one of theirs

John, I think it's even worse than that...

Kennedy simply has the DNA, that's it. Palin actually worked for it, and earned it.

And if Kennedy ends up in the East River, she will of course have her chauffeur to blame!

Well, she is a Kennedy...

Well, she is a Kennedy...  get it - locust - kennedy?

Hey, that's great! She can

Hey, that's great! She can be The Locust of The Senate after The Lion of The Senate assumes room temperature.

Interviews????

So I'm sure Katie and Charlie will be conducting interviews with Caroline very soon - Interviews that are every bit as hostile and condescending as those they conducted with Palin.

On the other hand, maybe we'll just get a Barbara Walters special in which BaBa coaxes Caroline into talking about her remarkable life of triumph and tragedy etc etc blah blah ad nauseum.

Wanna really retch? Just

Wanna really retch? Just imagine her on The View.

Schlossberg?

What happened to Caroline Kennedy-Schlossberg? Did something like a divorce happen and I missed it?Help? Bueller, Bueller, anybody?

BECAUSE

Duh! Because you can only get a kennedy elected in that crooked state... not a scholssberg.

AJB... LOL...you hit the

AJB...

LOL...you hit the nail on the head.

"America isn't the problem...America is the solution." ~ Rush Limbaugh

Well she was a Schlossberg

Well she was a Schlossberg when being a Kennedy didn't matter.... she always acted like she didn't want to be seen as trading on the name.

Of course, now, if she's going to get into politics she wants that Kennedy name, you know!

How would anyone know her otherwise?

John John

Does anybody doubt that if John John's piloting skills had been better he would be POTUS right now? The MSM would have anointed Sir Camelot from Day 1.

Poor Caroline - feeling left out?

Go ahead Caroline! Do your Daddy, Uncle Bobby and Uncle Teddy proud . . follow in their footsteps . . I'm sure Your Grandpa Joe left enough money in the Kennedy vault to buy you a Senate appointment . . especially in New York State.

I'm sure you'll find enough suckers to support you in this state.

Is it any wonder that they get what they want?

The Left has crowned them America's Royalty.

Double Standards in the Media?

AP and NYT reporters make most prostitutes look like saints.

I don't think it's fair (to

I don't think it's fair (to prostitutes) to compare prostitutes to the average MSM journalist.

What's the big whup about the shoe-throwing?

Chris Matthews has been throwing his panties at Obama for months.

Ahhaaaahaaahaaa

My favorite comment of the day. Frickin' genious!

Hey come on!

Caroline Kennedy is extremely accomplished at one thing....raising money. And the governor wants to be re-elected, so....follow the money. Who's going to raise money for that fool after proposing 88 new taxes, hmmm?

We've just elected a President with no experience or qualifications...what difference does it make if Caroline is handed a Senate seat on a silver spoon? (sorry to mix metaphors).

I just hope Caroline is as inept as Hillary was. Time for more popcorn.

It would be nice/funny if

It would be nice/funny if she'd have to actually run for the office with a mandatory last name change (ie remove the word "Kennedy" from the ballot). You'd think if she had such a long dormant interest in such a thing she'd start at some sort of state office to gain experience.  Of course that would make too much sense.

That would be great,

Remove the name recognition from the ballot. There was a movie where some guy ran for office because he had the same last name as a senator who had just died... Sadly they would never let the name change happen, even if it did go to the polls, because they would probably lose their shoo-in. Right here they have someone who thinks the way they do, and who will be blindly reelected term after term by the leftist sheep in New York.

REAL conservative in '12... PLEASE!!!

What???

"You'd think if she had such a long dormant interest in such a thing she'd start at some sort of state office to gain experience.  Of course that would make too much sense."

What??  Have her actually work her way up, the way Sarah Palin earned HER office?  Surely, you jest.

False Analogy

Caroline Kennedy serving in the Senate is hardly comparable to Sarah Palin serving as vice president a heartbeat away from a cancer-survivor president in his seventies.

As for "the media dancing with joy" over the shoe throwing incident, Bozell is engaging in the all-too-frequent NewsBusters logical fallacy of equating reporting with approval. Perhaps there are some reporters who personally believe the president got his "just deserts," and perhaps a few of them have reported on the event with words that arguably suggest bias. But the fact is, this is inherently a big story, so it is unfair to attack "the media" for treating it as such. the incident has created a sensation in the Muslim world and is of strong interest to the American public since it involves an assault on a U.S. president in a country he chose to attack and occupy. Reporters do not always show good news judgment in this age of "infotainment," but in this instance, they have.

Muslim world sensation....

Yes, it has created more than one sensation in the Muslim world, to wit: insulting one's guest is a direct insult upon the HOST.  Hence, our footware flinging fanatic in effect directly insulted the Iraqi government and, by extension, the roughly 8 million purple-fingered Iraqis who bravely (often under threat) voted in an exercise of their hard and expensively-won freedom.

True, a lot of Muslims are cheering him on as some Olympic shoe slinging hero.  Yet many others, especially within Iraq, are not so pleasantly disposed and have expressed great shame and regret at his actions.

Yup, the ol' footware flinger, bravely "speaking truth to power" also inspired an immediate reaction among his fellow journalists.... who in turn soundly beat him with their own shoes.  Sort of an affectionate response from "sole" brothers, I suppose.

They beat him with THEIR shoes?!

Hahahahahahaha...
Here's an idea, let's do a journalist foreign exchange program. We'll get decent news coverage, and the Iraqis will take one look at Matthews and become devout republicans. It's a win-win.

In order to be pro-choice, one must first be born. Ah, the irony.

"Caroline Kennedy serving

"Caroline Kennedy serving in the Senate is hardly comparable to Sarah Palin serving as vice president"

You're right!  Unlike Barack Obama who has less experience than Sarah Palin in government or executive positions, Caroline Kennedy has **NO** experience at any level of government.

Kennedy/Palin hardly comparable?

So being one of only 100 U.S. Senators is no more important than being Treasurer of the AV Club?

At least you got that cancer dig in.

Experience

If Caroline were qualified to run for governor of AK, and her rival was Palin, who do you feel has the better chance of winning? Why?
