MRC/NB's Graham on Cavuto Discussing Media Dropping the (D) in Blago Coverage

  • Bookmark and Share

"This is a pattern we've seen for many years, especially when it comes to scandal. We call it drop the (D). You see stories like this [Blagojevich]," all the time NewsBusters Senior Editor Tim Graham told FNC's Neil Cavuto. While some print outlets just bury the Democratic label deep within an article, "a lot of times on television we're not seeing that [the party label] at all. We've seen that in the Blagojevich coverage. You could have watched CBS today and not found a single mention," that the indicted Illinois Governor is a Democrat, Graham added. Graham, the MRC's Director of Media Analysis, appeared on the December 10 "Your World" program to discuss the stark contrast between how the media ignore or downplay party labels for Democrats in trouble with the law, while trumpeting the Republican party affiliation of GOPers in legal or ethical hot water.

Graham also noted that the media have seldom in the past two years noted that it is Democrats who control the U.S. Congress, even as congressional poll numbers plummeted and the media harped on economic problems it chalked squarely up to the Bush administration.

Saw the interview

Thanks, Tim, for trying to get your point across.  I liked what Neil said about a commentator on another network referring to the Republican scandals.  Sorry the interview was so short.

"If we conservatives moved to those seven non-existent States, the government couldn’t find us and tax us to death!"

"...Graham also noted that

"...Graham also noted that the media have seldom in the past two years noted that it is Democrats who control the U.S. Congress, even as congressional poll numbers plummeted and the media harped on economic problems it chalked squarely up to the Bush administration."

Nor did our Republican Candidate allow the responsibility of our economic problems to be assigned to the DEMOCRATS - specifically Barney Frank and Chris Dodd - who were in charge during the whole meltdown!  I was so very disappointed in his lack of campaigning...it was ours to have if he had only allowed Barack Hussein Obama's ties to unsavory characters to be brought out for public discussion.  As has been documented many times since the election, Obama's supporters don't even know what he stood for!  The NY polling which used the opposite view of each of his stances in their questions and received 'oh yes' 'I agree' responses!!!

It is time for a man who has striven for the highest PUBLIC office in America to stop being 'Mr. Mystery" and put out his birth/college/passport records and any other pertinent information for PUBLIC REVIEW!

A PROUD member of the Oogedy Boogedy branch of the GOP!

Side by side stories

What I found interesting was that the Larry Craig story was also told on Tuesday. I read the two AP stories -- they were side by side on Foxnews.com. The 20+ paragraphs on the Illinois Gov didn't mention Democrat at all. But Republican was in the 2nd paragraph of the Craig story.

These pathetic MSM-types think we're all stupid. Well, we're not, even though most of their MSM-readers are.

Read the American media, like you would read the old Pravda

Media bias is a fun topic, but it's not new and it's not surprising.  You just need to read the MSM as you would read Pravda.  Look deep into long articles for little nuggets of truth, after they get the party line out of the way.

Learn to translate MSMese into English.  Here's just a couple of tips:  "No party affiliation = Democrat".  In crimes stories, "youths = blacks".

Also gave Blagojevich is own section as there are sections for the Clinton's friends, It seems now that Obama is nearly President Blagojevich and Chicago politics needs the same kind of exposure as Menu Arkansas.
