time to change the GOP

If you haven't done so already, please sign the petition to change the RNC primary.

I'm a typical white person.

problem with parts of petition

I personally have a problem with line items 3 & 4.

Petition is more likley to be acted upon if they limit it to just items 1 & 2. (Item 5 I am neutral on)

I understand the problem with #4, sort of.

But what is your problem with #3? Also if you would, let me know the problem with #4 as well.

"Television is a freak show" Bernie Goldberg

two weeks is not enough time

#3 - six months (like now) is too long, but two weeks? That is not enough time. Four to six weeks would be better (allow more time for the candidates to campaign...)

#4 - How do you do the straw polls? Who decides (via straw polls) who gets eliminated right off the bat before the votes?

just my opinion....

Luke 23:34

PALIN/Jindal '12

#3 is one of my favorite parts

Here in La we had less of a choice then 4 would had given us. I think the primaries should go quickly, it will help keep the media from tampering. The Canidates should be campaining uptill this time, so giving them more time doesnt do it for me. Keeping the media representing them correctly concerns me far more. #4 needs some real thought, one way or the other.

sorry for that southjersey

The draft has been sitting in the forums for almost a month now waiting for feedback. Several people gave their input, so I went with what I had.

I'm a typical white person.

no problem

I don't usually have time (more honestly, take the time) to browse the forums so this was the fist I had seen it. After thinking more about it, I guess I went ahead and signed it because, as someone else said, although not perfect, the RNC has to do SOMETHING!

PALIN/Jindal '12

Signed.

I also had a problem with 2 weeks. After some thought I figure we push for 2 weeks and hope we end up with less than 2 months.

The time to change the GOP

The time to change the GOP has passed.  They should have been solidifying the party as a conservative/libertarian/constitutional party since 1994 when they first got control of Congress.

But there are too many establishment types (RINOs) in the party who won't switch to the Dems because although their ideology is closer to Democrat, they aren't marxist enough to get any party support.

They blew it, big time.  It's time for a new, true American party.

A New Party

"They blew it, big time.  It's time for a new, true American party."

I agree completely.  Forget trying to have a platform that covers every splinter group in America.

Stand on conservative spending, small government, a return to the belief system of the Founding Fathers and the Constitution.

I'd like to know how it is

I'd like to know how it is that the Libs got such control over the media.  Look at how popular FOX is, and all they do is include the conservative side, while not excluding the liberal.

Why don't they get on regular TV instead of just cable? Why aren't their more conservatives in other media areas? Even newspapers might be able to survive if they included the conservative viewpoint - and not just on the editorial page, but it what news is covered and where it's placed.

I would think there's money in this, so investment should not be too hard to come by.

It's not surprising that Libs are more politically active than conservatives because we tend to just want to be left alone whereas liberals want to be in everyone's business.

Conservatives need to force themselves into action...just sitting back and expecting people to somehow come to the same conclusions we've come to has not worked.

conservatives need to get

conservatives need to get off their ass and make it happen

too fat dumb and happy perhaps...? I don't know...

Well Matt

Why don't they get on regular TV instead of just cable? Why aren't their more conservatives in other media areas?

I think it is discrimination, their are obviously a ton of Right leaning commintators. Just look at how many are on the internet.

Me personaly, I just want the truth. No hidden facts, no slant toward either direction. Just the truth and the whole truth.

Obama - illegitimate

what is is with blacks and illigitamacy? tons of illegit kids, and now an illegit prez - railroaded into the Whitehouse by the MSM propaganda machine...

I don't blame our beloved African American community of course - it's their leadership - OR COMPLETE AND TOTAL LACK THEREOF

slavery, the kkk, opposing the civil rights act, the dnc voting plantation - DEMOCRATS - why do they so freely and unashamedly abuse the black community so much? where does the hate come from - is it still from the civil war? unbelievable...

Hillary as the counterinsurgency "champion"

David Brooks wrote a howler today in the NY Times. He was trying to present everyone in the Obama team as pragmatic centrists. But that forced him obscure the obvious: Hillary is no centrist. She may not be as wild-eyed a liberal as some others, but she's no centrist. And then he dropped this line, that made me physically ill:

"He nominated Hillary Clinton and James Jones, who have been champions of this approach ... "

Where did David Brooks get the idea that Hillary Clinton was a “champion” of General Petraeus’ strategies? Remember, it was Mrs. Clinton who said that this strategy, and its early successes, required a suspension of disbelief. How can Mr. Brooks spin it so that Hillary was a “champion” of that strategy?  Pure revisionist spin.

It took forever, but Bush wound up getting a few things right. These Petraeus-inspired policies have been successful, and they've been in place for a year and a half. But these liberals and Democrats based their campaigns on rejecting everything Bush-related. Frankly, they were running against Donald Rumsfeld, but Rummy had been gone for a while. The media never made that distinction.

Of course, now they're seeing that their anti-Bush, anti-war strategy was an easy and cheap cop-out, they're trying to slide into the same strategy and calling it theirs.

I hear the echoes of the old Byrds song: "To everything, spin, spin, spin ... "

Hillary was such a "champion"

of Petraeus' strategies, that she followed up THAT (hawkish, yes?) little sound bite with this one:

"Hope is not a strategy."

HILLARY CLINTON, Democratic New York Senator, to General John Abizaid, top commander of U.S. forces in Iraq, during Abizaid's testimony before the Senate and House Armed Services Committee

"Senator, I agree with you--and I would also say that despair is not a method."

And now HRC has joined the Hopeful Changer, thus selling out, yet again, in her pursuit of power.  And the media, as you correctly pointed out, continues to spin, spin, spin it so that it will be a democrat victory in Iraq.

As someone said on Noel's thread yesterday, they're all weasels.

The one thing I remember

The one thing I remember Hillary saying that I will never forget.

She said..."I'll take those profits from ExxonMobil, and I'll do good with them"! Now Brooks, tell me that is centrist!

And then you've got Obami himself, speaking of the Oil Companies profits to a crowd of Obamatrons..."that's your money"!  Yeah, Brooks, that's real centrist too!

These libs think all history happened five minutes ago and nothing that was done or said before five minutes ago matters.  It's a new day every time a lib blinks!

"It's a new day every time

"It's a new day every time a lib blinks!"

Does that mean if we throw a blanket over their heads, they'll think it's night and go to sleep?

;^D

So is

Hillary conceding the 2012 bid for the Presidency. I dont recall a cabinet officer ever running for pres. The most likely scenario is she will play nice with Obama until if and when he screws up. I think her plan is if Obama survives and doesn't screw up royally he will be re-elected and serve a total of 8 years. She will be lobbying to be on the VP ticket in 2012 and that may have already been promised grooming her with Sec State and Veep creds and experience for 2016.

Where is the punishment

Where is the calling on the carpet, of the people responsible for our immediate financial chrisis? I thought I saw a pretty good critque of the entire situation, early on, when this thing was laid on us, the people of the USA, about 4 months ago.

Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Maxine Waters, and there are others, are pretty etched in my mind. The Big Blockbuster was suppose to be over Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac, and Barney was suppose to have had a long term love affair with some guy at Fannie Mae. Don't hear anything about this in the news at all.

I guess it is just us coolee's out here in the real world that have to pay the cost, if we screw up. Barney and all his pals are still in power, still legislating and setting the table for all us out here to go by. This is the part of government that really gets under my skin. No accountability!

I feel your pain BC

This is the part of government that really gets under my skin. No accountability!

Problem is, it is us who should be holding them accoutable, but all of these mangy mutts will get reelected no matter how currupt they are. They will buy the moron vote with the $ they steal from us, Murtha is a perfect exsample of this.

"Television is a freak show" Bernie Goldberg

Not gonna happen

You don't understand. These are our leaders, our elites, the cream of the crop, the best of the best. Laws, rules, accountability; these are for the peasants, not the kings. Not for our rulers. Not for our betters.

Now maybe, just maybe, if these facts you mention were actually reported on, and known by your average voter, things would be different. But our betters in the media, our "pundits," the ones who decide what we need to know and when we need to know it, have decided that all those tiresome "details" don't really matter.

And you thought "We, the people" ran this country, huh?

Cynical? Moi?

OBAMA BANK: THE MILITARY

OBAMA: MILITARY WILL BE HIS “BANK”

You
can bet that Xerxes will whack the military budget deeply and use that
(and only that) to take credit for being a thrifty “budget manager”.
Virtually ALL modern liberals loathe any military actions because they
are so expensive…and that money is taken away from social (vote buying)
programs here. They cringe. They would also cringe if Obama really
looked at the federal waste, pork and corruption. That will be given
only lip service as the budget explodes under the guise of “saving the
economy”…ha, ha. The govt can’t even save their Postal Service…it lost
way over a billion this year.

It greatly pains them to see all those opportunities to push more
secular socialism (dependency) lost to freedom for, say, 50 million
abused humans in Iraq. The military will be cut up to 25% and once
again we will endanger our lead in weapons that discourage the
communist and thug countries. They will be emboldened once again (as in
Jimmah Carter days).
Liberals will do what liberals do now. Watch.

Doug Schexnayder, Ph.D. (theconservativecrawfish)

Speaking of the military has

Speaking of the military has NB been following the story about the troops that are supposed to deployed on our home soil. This is one piece of new that really scares the heck out of me and it is not even BO that is trying to do it. This has the potential for uprisings like we have not seen in this country since the revolutionary war. We could be on the road to a dictatorship sooner than we know. Isn't it unconsitutional to deploy our troops on our home soil. I thought that is what the National Guard was for and controlled by the states themselves. It just smells really bad and maybe someone could bring me up to speed on what this could mean and what to do about it.

The answer: those guys are Democrats!

I have your answer, Badcleats. All those clowns you mentioned have one thing in common. They are all Democrats! When it comes to the Donkey House, the MSM plays "see no evil, speak no evil, hear no evil".

Worse still, the brain-dead voters in Massachusetts, Connecticut and California (Los Angeles) overwhelmingly re-elected each and every one of the goofballs you mentioned. If they were Republicans, the MSM would have had a field day with them. They would have been hounded out of office or crushed at the ballot box.

If Bush had enough gumption

If Bush had enough gumption to go after these cheats like he does the terrorists, there would be a ton of Dems in orange jumpsuits right about now.  But, sadly, he's one of those who won't look at the Dems as the enemy...Dems look at him that way, but he's trying to "take the high road" - and what do we get?  4 years of Hussein and the Dems....

Detroit seeks loan

Well, Ford's got their hand out. At least it's a loan, not a "gimme." What I find the biggest problem with this is they've said all this before. "Now we get it. Now we'll make those changes." They've been saying the same thing since the 80s. We're supposed to believe that now they have the answer, when they were so wrong for so long?

Here's how they claim they're going to "fix" things: "The company said it will accelerate plans to roll out electric vehicles as part of its plan." WHAT? Where did they get the idea that the public wants electric vehicles? What auto company out there is getting rich selling electric vehicles? Where is the proven success of that strategy? But it will be music to the ears of the new administration, that's for sure.

Oh, and they're going to sell their corporate jets, and the CEO will work for $1 a year. Yeah, that will make the difference. Talk about style over substance!

Can't they see the real truth? They're getting trounced by companies building reliable, efficient, well-made cars that people like and trust. So, do that! Don't they have the sense to emulate a successful model? I've had people tell me that Detroit is hurting because the high-profit big trucks aren't selling as well since the last gas-price debacle. Well, gas is under $1.60/gal around here now, so how does that figure in?

If one company can build and profit from small, fuel-efficient, reliable cars, why shouldn't another? That logic shouldn't be so hard to follow

How blind can they be?

"If you think you're finished shopping for Christmas, why not start on next year"

kk,

Hard as it is to believe, the ChiTrib used to be a conservative paper. Now, they're just a little to the right of the Sun-Times, which is somewhere to the left of Saul Alinsky. Which still makes them the most coservative paper in Chicago, while remaining comfortably liberal.

It's all relative, you see.

Why in the Sam Hill are we not off the Coast of Somalia blasting every dadgum..ship...boat..panga..canoe..kayak..dug out...rubber raft..or floating log we see out to 200 miles of their coast on the off chance it may have pirates on it?

Our Navy could use the practice, and we'd be ridding the world of floating cockroaches that nobody gives a damn about anyway.

So what gives?  What are we waitng for? Permission?  From who?  We've got the big guns, it's time we used 'em.

How can you say such things? These so called "pirates" are people who may have grown up in broken and abusive homes, never had a chance to even touch a plasma TV, let alone own one and only have Nokia cell phones, not Iphones...  How can you be so callous???

Well, it is good news, but Franken is going to take this to Reid and the Senate if he can, he is all the sudden finding magical votes out of nowhere again...I hope it works out the way it should but I remember what happened to Woody Jenkins I think it was, let alone other tricks over the years, we shall see, Franken has Soros behind him, so it will be to the slimiest death possible.

As far as two years of filibusters going on...I think not, we have to many RINOs that will vote with the dems, unless some dems vote with us on down the road, CapnTrade, illegal immigration, oil independence ect ect will be all but over, let alone Universal Health Care...and the Judges, we are screwed...no matter what.

Cheap shot at Iowa

As an Iowan, I'm no great fan of having our state overrun by literally dozens of candidates for months, even years, ahead of the caucuses.  But the following quote from the petition is off base regarding Iowa:

Stop letting Iowa and New Hampshire go first. We realize that they have strong traditions in the primary process, but neither state represents Republican values anymore. New Hampshire is solidly blue and Iowa goes blue more often than not.

This statement says my state shouldn't go first because the entire electorate tends to go blue in November.  I can't speak to New Hampshire, but the Iowa Republican party is strongly influenced by social conservative/evangelical voters at caucus time.  Only highly motivated activists would come out on a cold January night to meet with other activists in hundreds of small venues and talk politics for an hour or more.  It's not as easy as marking a ballot, something that is more and more often done at home days or weeks ahead of time.  Who won Iowa's Republican caucus this year?  Huckabee.  That tells you something about the people who turned out for the caucuses.  Romney was a fairly strong second.  Thompson came in third.  McCain barely made a mark.  You may not approve of Huckabee, but he was hardly the choice of Rockefeller Republicans.

Unfortunately, other offices in Iowa are not decided by the caucus system, so the country club wing tends to choose the candidates down the ticket.  That's why we don't have the statehouse, the legislature, 3 of the 5 House seats, and a Senate seat.

I'm not saying Iowa is perfect, and I certainly wouldn't argue that the primary system is perfect.  I'm just saying that Iowa doesn't deserve the shot it takes in this petition.

Welcome to the era of unity, you racist!

The moron Harry Reid opens his trap again

I'm sure many of you saw this on Drudge but in case you didn't you'll be reminded of why the people no longer matter. Harry Reid is a deplorable excuse for a U.S. senator, let alone majority leader.

The Capitol Visitors Center, which opened this morning, may have tripled its original budget and fallen years behind schedule, but Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid found a silver lining for members of Congress: tourists won't offend them with their B.O. anymore. "My staff tells me not to say this, but I'm going to say it anyway," said Reid in his remarks. "In the summer because of the heat and high humidity, you could literally smell the tourists coming into the Capitol. It may be descriptive but it's true." But it's no longer going to be true, noted Reid, thanks to the air conditioned, indoor space. And that's not all. "We have many bathrooms here, as you can see," Reid continued. "Souvenirs are available." $621 million well spent.
