"This is a death-bed confession," Seton Motley quipped of Time magazine's Mark Halperin admitting that the mainstream media was biased towards Sen. Barack Obama. The MRC Communications Director made the remark on the November 24 "Fox & Friends" program
"As the mainstream media dies, they're trying to rectify their reputations and their relationships with their audience by saying, 'oh, you know, we were in the tank.' Clearly, this would have been a lot more useful in June or July," Motley added. "It does us no good now at the end of November."
But don't hold your breath for balance, the NewsBusters contributor told co-host Steve Doocy:
MOTLEY: You'll notice he [Halperin] doesn't say, "We'll try harder." They aren't being Avis this go-around. They're just saying, "We were really bad, and from all indicators, we'll continue to be bad." So it's not entirely sure if these occasional mea culpas are really going to propound to better coverage going forward.

November 24, 2008 - 18:17 ET by Cool ArrowI see it as the MSM rubbing our noses in the fact they sold Marxism to a dumbed-down public.
It's bragging more than confessing.
A confession without
November 24, 2008 - 18:31 ET by bradbenj5952A confession without repentance is meaningless. Just watch how they are now covering "The Office of the President Elect". I didn't know there was such an "office".

It isn't going to...at all.
If anything the next four years are going to be far worse in my opinion with the msm and their lovefest with O.
They have NO ACCOUNTABILITY...they sure as heck aren't going to stop any time soon as long as their are no results or recrininations like the words YOU'RE FIRED, nope, they will just carry on with their leftist lying propaganda and their intentional omissions, let alone zilch for investigations, let alone just plain curiosity into a candidates background, unless of course you have an 'R' behind your name...why then they are just busy little bees...buzzing everywhere early, often, 24/7 until said person is destroyed.

Media admits in the tank

And will be too weak and codependent to cross examine "the One"
Where do we get investigative reporting? Where do we get good information?
Only good by-product is that the public is beginning to see media as weak, biased, co-dependent and incompetent.

Rupert Murdoch addressed the Media
November 24, 2008 - 19:16 ET by andophiroxiaRupert Murdoch mentioned that the media had dug themselves a BIG hole because they regarded their readers as stupid.
I think this adds insult to injury. This is akin to after eating all the cookies, breaking the jar that contained them, and hiding the broken pieces, and now saying, "OOPS OUR BAD." However, they're still hiding the fact the cookie jar is still broken and they still DENY it's broken!!!

Death bed confession or flinging us the bird?
November 24, 2008 - 19:34 ET by jackie3One would expect remorse with a death bed confession. But instead we got an "up yours" instead. The media really isn't trying to gain credibility. Merely brag about their accomplishments. They should be ever so proud for now the media reports the "crisis" to such an extent that Obama will be able to use it to his advantage.
It's almost like "phase 2" of converting the USA to the USSA. Create panic, crises and distrust for the sitting government. Create crisis in economics and the welfare of the nation. Then, when things looks bleak the "messiah" rides in on his while horse to save us all from our stupid selves.
The last years has played out like a fiction novel. A conspiracy that hinged on the media's devotion to the new world order. If the media was concerned about sales one would figure they would do something to save themselves. Instead they will wait for Obama to save them with a "bail out."
These "bail outs" are going to cost us 1.6 trillion dollars or more! 700 billion is just a drop in the bucket. To fix the housing crises it will take 6.6 trillion. More than our annual budget. The government is buying capital in corporations. So much for free market.
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large groups.

Greening of the media

Too little, and WAY Too late! I quit MSM cold-turkey. It was a breath of fresh air to find sites like NB, where I've learned so much not only from the NB staff, but from the 'regular', intelligent posters (with all their great links)!
HOT OFF THE PRESS: Unbiased news is only found online!
If theRNC Lets Them Get Away With It...
November 25, 2008 - 04:13 ET by farstar99If the RNC lets them get away with this, then frankly, they deserve the non-existence and exile that will result!
The GOP has to make it plain NOW that it was too late two years ago.
They have to impress on the media that HALF of the nation will NEVER listen to these propaganda slags EVER AGAIN!
But since the GOP's FAILURE, repeated - no - CONTINUAL FAILURE over the last eight years stems from wanting to be liked by these press "people" and the liberals in general, they're going to let this opportunity, just like ALL of the others they've had, slip through their fingers.
Why did the Left win? Because they have hate on their side and the press and New Media outlets through which to pump that hate.
Without tearing down the media monopoly and gathering a billion dollars in campaign funds for 2010 AND 2012, the party is finished.
So what are they doing about it?
I whole-heartedly agree
November 25, 2008 - 08:30 ET by TD in FLI whole-heartedly agree farstar99. We need more prominant GOP members speaking out and raising awareness regarding the media farses. It seems like the whole party has been relatively silent on this issue, especially as of late. We actually had some good momentum at the convention when the crowd started chanting "NBC! NBC!" for bias. That's a theme the GOP members need to continue to hit home. In doing so, they need to focus on highlighting the issues the MSM is avoiding or glossing over - like the recent "SAVE or create 2.5M jobs". Why isn't the GOP all over this?
Who will cover this though?
November 25, 2008 - 09:45 ET by ckbennetttnWe need more promin[e]nt GOP members speaking out and raising awareness...
Who will cover this though? The MSM has let thousands of stories die on the vine by not reporting them. They don't care if the entire GOP and all conservatives complain about media bias, they just won't put a microphone or camera in front of them, or they'll crack "wise" about them on the Daily Show.

The Internet and Talk Radio will make the MSM less relevant
November 25, 2008 - 11:49 ET by PopularTechIt is just going to take more time. The older generations still get their news from TV and let wing newspapers. Once they die off the playing field will become much more level.
