This night was the highest rating for SNL in 14 years. Does that say something about Sarah Palin's draw? Does that also say something about SNL's general lack of draw, as they humor gets more and more in the "gutter"?
I thought Palin was pretty good-spirited about it and the cast seemed to be having fun with it. Especially Alec Baldwin who suprised me with being willing to goof on himself a little.
I watched the opening bit - didn't think she'd be on later. It was OK, obviously they were holding back from being as snarky as usual. I give Sarah Palin credit for even being on the same stage as Alec Baldwin!
Yes Rhayes. If she were as "smart" as Tina, we could criticize the MSM for bashing the mentally handicapped.
When asked if he went to war with Iraq to derail the impeachment vote: “I don’t think any serious person would believe that any President would do such a thing." - President Clinton (Dec 1998).
because it's painfully obvious gov palin is much more attractive, and i thought alec baldwin was the self appointed worlds greatest thespian of all time..........eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee that was some bad acting even for a tv show that should have died off 25 years ago. what happened did they run out of cue cards and markers and had to use coffee stained napkins and crayons. thank god i only watched that skit on the net.
"Hey Tina, I think you should consider dropping this bit, because now that America gets to see the real me, they will come to realize that YOU AIN'T EVEN CLOSE."
I almost---watched the show because Sarah was on, but 20 years of unfunny shows made it a risk of wasting time. Now, I realize my age has a good deal to do with it, but "I'm Gumby God damn it" used to make me laugh. I have not found the show funny. I stopped watching about 10 years ago.
I also tried to watch the Mike Myers movie last night. (Austi Powers). Perhaps I will go into counseling soon. Myers' portrayal was so camp as to make me turn the movie off quickly. Of course, it must be me. The film was a great success. Or---maybe it isn't me. Maybe there's a lot of unimaginative folks out there who like rehashed, overemoted , supposed comedy.
The good news is I have a channel select device that allows me to watch more intelligent shows. Did y'all really find the chest hair, terrible teeth and overuse of "yeah baby", that funny???
I am with you on the Austin Powers opinion. My (grown) son found it SO funny... and used to do the lines exactly as they were in the movie. But I have to agree. So over the top and not that amusing to begin with.
I also watched a little of SNL last night (It comes on too late here to be worth it even at its best) and it was just pathetic and boring (except for the first skit which was saved from pathetic only by Sarah Palin.) I fell asleep before the second round of commercials.
SNL hasn't been consistently funny for 20 years. One skit every month or so is amusing.
They are now reduced to having their political opponents (ala Palin) come on with overhyped pre-advertising in order to get any ratings at all. Just pathetic.
Writing is awful, acting is high schoolish, topics are cliches. Their glory days are long, long past.
I thought Tina Fey looked like a jacka$$. Not because of her skit but she seemed to try to snub Palin twice. Both during the skit as she left the stage and refused to make eye contact and at the end where she seemed to be trying to find a different way off the stage. If Alec Baldwin can play nice than Fey, who became better known thanks to Palin, could grow a brain and show some respect.
Um, the point of that part of the skit was it was an uncomfortable moment and Tina wanted to get off the stage asap, not wanting to look at the person she'd been impersonating. That's all.
...and to avoid a similar "tense" situation to what they were playing up between an angry Mark Wahlberg and Andy Samberg, who portrayed Mark last week.

I could pass it off as some part of the act the first time but got a different impression when it seemed to happen again at the end of the show as well. I did like how Palin had no trouble looking her detractors right in the eye while they couldn't do the same.
Sarah: "To borrow a line from Dan Akroyd.... Tina, you ignorant slut!"
When asked if he went to war with Iraq to derail the impeachment vote: “I don’t think any serious person would believe that any President would do such a thing." - President Clinton (Dec 1998).

If only the Main Stream Media would focus on my hotness and not trying to kill my political career and Senator McCain's at the same time. We'd be up like 20 points on That One. Who names their kid Barack Hussein anyways? Oh...I got a line. Uh, what do the post-90s cast members do when they have to improv a line. OH RIGHT! Lorne: "CUT...we tape the show now, we're not actually live. See, it will air at night, but the product you see is actually fixed up from the taping version...you should see how unfunny we are with this crap cast of comedians."
The universe came close to total destruction today, when intelligence (Sarah Palin) nearly collided with anti-inteligence (Tina Fey).
When asked if he went to war with Iraq to derail the impeachment vote: “I don’t think any serious person would believe that any President would do such a thing." - President Clinton (Dec 1998).
I don't really care much about Tina Fey, but I wish that some day she would answer the questions about that scar on the left side of her face. How do you get a scar that huge on your face outside of a knife fight? I was an insanely reckless kid (what people called 'accident-prone' back then) and I had stitches 14 separate times, but I don't have a scar to compare to that one!

I did like Alec Baldwin's line..."You're way hotter in person!" then proceeds to walk her off camera arm and arm...this is the same Alec Baldwin from HuffPost who said,"John McCain is, statistically, more likely to die or suffer some
catastrophic illness during his first term than any other man that has
sought the office. Who would succeed him? 'George Bush'(aka Sarah Palin) would succeed
him. Someone with no record. No experience. Only question marks.

Uber...obviously never made it off the Junior Varsity Practice Squad. His only job on the Debate team was to mix the Cherry Kool Aid...only Uber couldn't figure out that he had to add sugar and water.
Thankfully for Uber...others made the Kool Aid for him...and he got really good at drinking it!!
UberCon, is a biannual multi-genre gaming convention rotating between locations in northern New Jersey... This convention covers a wide rage of game formats, including Role Playing Games (RPGs), Board Games, LAN-Based Computer Games, Console Video Games, Miniatures, Collectible Card Gaming. In addition, UberCon has attracted guests of honor ranging from various genres of sci-fi authors to comics artists, and game designers. The first UberCon was held in February 2002. The first convention also had the distinction of being inundated by a blizzard, trapping many guests in the hotel. However, this led to an extra day of game playing.

Yeah Blonde, we do need a better class of troll here.
Thanks...now I know I'm cool with the younger set! Thanks to all for the name calling..."troll" seems to be the only thing you can grasp with such feeble brains. "troll", that's it? Better class of "troll"? Gosh, if I had a penny for each time I heard that line, I'd have at least enough money to buy myself a good old GOP senator! What is it with all of you, not enough pudding at the old folks home?
...on Fox news (just the opening rap skit) and thought it was plain stupid and totally un-funny. I don't think she need stoop to their level...for whatever reason. Let them attempt to ridicule as they wish withOUT the "real deal" present...kinda like a pig withOUT the lipstick!
..I've never found Amy Phoeler that amusing. Plus she's strange looking.
Tina Fey is one of the most overrated people to ever come off that show. She's nowhere near as funny as they make her out to be. And she's a crappy actor too. I can't speak for 30 Rock though, I've never watched it. Maybe she's ok on that, I wouldn't know.

Just like the SNL skit...pathetic.
Everywhere. Forget about the fact that Palin looks a lot like a really
attractive TV star I know. Underneath all the Tina, she's George."

Really, uber?
October 19, 2008 - 18:07 ET by BlondeLike anything Alec Baldwin has to say is relevant, how? Oh...in your mind, of COURSE! Sheesh....we need a better class of troll, here.
In his own words (19 seconds): This man is qualified to be VP?
As we all know by now,
October 19, 2008 - 18:19 ET by Cape ConservativeAlec Baldwin has a very large @#$$&* vocabulary - just ask his daughter!
LOL!!! Blonde..
October 19, 2008 - 19:02 ET by TheSterActually...thinking about it...WHY can't NB get better Trolls???
Is that a reflection on US?? Maybe we need to try harder to get the Varsity Trolls??? Varsity Trolls WANTED at NewsBusters?!?
Uber...obviously never made it off the Junior Varsity Practice Squad. His only job on the Debate team was to mix the Cherry Kool Aid...only Uber couldn't figure out that he had to add sugar and water.
Thankfully for Uber...others made the Kool Aid for him...and he got really good at drinking it!!
Ster.
Ubercon..Gotta question "uber"...anything!
October 19, 2008 - 21:02 ET by MexNobamaHey Blond...
You ever wonder why the trolls resort to tacit Nazi rhetoric?
Now I have always said that there are some very creepy connections between Barry O and Adolf H...
Nevertheless you are right. The trolls we keep getting are so inept you would swear they were on Hannity's payroll.
At least give us some one with some teeth!
Mexno- you know it's bad when the trolls "borrow" their names...
October 19, 2008 - 21:12 ET by bloolooFrom Wiki-
UberCon, is a biannual multi-genre gaming convention rotating between locations in northern New Jersey...
You'd think that such a 'critical thinker' would have bothered to check first before giving him/her-self that nick...
Yeah Blonde, we do need a better class of troll here.
Cool, dude!
October 19, 2008 - 23:08 ET byThanks...now I know I'm cool with the younger set!
Ubercon
Wow.
October 19, 2008 - 18:00 ET by Roger the ShrubberYou actually devoted time and effort on that?
I just now saw it...
October 19, 2008 - 14:05 ET by mrjeff...on Fox news (just the opening rap skit) and thought it was plain stupid and totally un-funny. I don't think she need stoop to their level...for whatever reason. Let them attempt to ridicule as they wish withOUT the "real deal" present...kinda like a pig withOUT the lipstick!

October 19, 2008 - 15:18 ET by WesenWatching SNL is like eating barbed wire but I forced myself. Fey snuck into the family through the back door. She's a real pretender.
They think they are going to win...
October 19, 2008 - 15:45 ET by Travis NoodleThe folks at SNL and Alex Baldwin are only making nice with Sarah because they think Obama's got the election in the bag.
Sarah was amazing last night. Amy Pollar was great too, even though she's a flaming liberal.
politics aside
October 19, 2008 - 19:34 ET by Jnoble..I've never found Amy Phoeler that amusing.
1. So if you haven't seen 30
October 19, 2008 - 20:57 ET by balboa1. So if you haven't seen 30 Rock, you're basing your opinion of her acting on SNL only?
2. She doesn't have to be a great actor. Only funny. And I think she does that very well. Who do you think is funny?
Taking the high road...

At least I'd never stoop to wear a 'Tina Fey is a c***' T-shirt!'
(BTW - Yahoo headline 'Palin makes goofy appearance on SNL'. Well, if they're such 'brilliant' comedic writers, they didn't do such a great job, eh?)
www.ArmchairEnergist...
Why didn't I think of that?
October 19, 2008 - 19:36 ET by JnoblePalin wearing a "Tina Fey is a ****" t-shirt. Now THATS ironic comedy! heh heh heh

Pride goeth before the fall, oh, sorry that is not in his "bible." When he asks for the qoran at the swearing in, will we be ready to riot?
This may have have been mentioned already...
