For general discussion and debate. Possible talking point: is the so-called financial crisis being reported as much worse than it really is in order to help Obama?
Slipping under the radar yesterday was the best pending home sales stat since June 2007. This number was based on August purchases, which means it represents housing activity before this "crisis" hit a head roughly four weeks ago.
Might this suggest that before this recent barrage of bad news consumers were feeling good enough about their own personal finances to make a huge longterm commitment? If that's the case, mightn't this crisis be largely institutional in nature meaning mostly a Wall Street problem that has yet to impact Main Street and might not if quickly solved? Might it also indicate that McCain was actually right weeks ago when he said the fundamentals of the economy are sound?
Is it possible that we will look back on this entire meltdown as more hype than substance much like we do the October 19, 1987, stock market crash?

a. He has been told by me and by the authors at NB itself that the polls are skewed. (don't believe me - search for skew or skewed poll or polls here at NB) Yet he comes back to a site pointing out liberal bias in the media, schools, universities, governement etc. and expects us to believe that oh my lord, the poll makers and takers are lilly white by the grace of gawd straight down the middle NONpartisan to the point of saintliness.
b. He happily points out over and over again these skewed points when his guy is in the lead. He was strangely silent when McCain took a lead shortly after the convention or like others suddenly finds that the polls have a margin of error or may be skewed at that point in time.
c. He and others points to the polls and happily points out, "if the election were held tomorrow..." The election is not being held tomorrow. The actual election day is published years in advance and is easily gleaned from a formula that is a law.
d. Look at his comment below. He like a lot of other liberals wants to debate. Their idea of a debate is to pound you with half truths, propaganda and lies, never actually listening to anything that is factual, evidenciary, truthful or is in fact the law. They pound, move the argument, throw in red herrings, straw men, and in general bury you under such a large amount of garbage that you through up your hands and scream "enough!" d. Like a typical liberal, they want to debate EVERYTHING. No issue is ever settled. Every little thing is relative. It is all gray. When in fact, 98% of everything is settled. Most of it is black and white, right or wrong. Abortion is wrong. Oswald did do it alone. We did land on the moon. 9/11 was committed by Islamic terrorists. Bush did not lie. 2 + 2 does equal 4. The polls are skewed.

When we spiked in September and tied it -- and even led in some polls-- for a brief time, we indeed were all very giddy. Not just giddy because we saw victory, but because we saw a ROMP/LANDSLIDE/ROUT! :p
But that was with just small, single-digit leads. That's why, now, just being down by single-digits isn't totally freaking us out, and it's an election McCain/Palin can still win, only not of the landslide variety.
So there's consistency in how much stock we put into the polls being fair.
There are so many unknown variables in this election vs. previous ones, on both tickets. Obviously, with Obama, his race is an entirely new thing, and there's such a groundswell of movements (both legal and probably illegal) getting new, young voters to register, including the black vote like never before.
But then, there's also Palin, who's a woman but in the GOP, which on many levels is complicated and uncharted territory, with how the MSM is minimizing her, the Hillary/female effect with voters, etc..

The thing is, most past polls dealt with nationwide polls. McCain has been leading in the electoral college in places like, Florida, Ohio, Nevada and Colorado. It seems a few weeks ago, for the first time, Obama is tied with McCain or has the lead in those states.
I have heard quite a few people say, this is nothing different than Kerry and Bush and polls had Kerry winning right up to the election, this is not true. Obama is doing much better than Kerry was doing at the same point in 04 and the polls certainly did not have Obama winning Virginia.
If McCain himself did not believe in polls he would not have pulled out in Michigan.
Yes many things can happen to be game changers. Maybe his Acorn thing, can turn things around for McCain. Again I am not saying the polls are a reason for a imminent Obama victory, just a cause of concern for the GOP

But, given the fact that most of the MSM is plainly in the tank for Obama, and their history is replete with stories and angles designed to help him, I think it's a distinct possibility (or probability) that the reporting surrounding the crisis may be skewed.
Suffice it to say that I look at pretty much everything coming out of the MSM with a jaundiced eye.

The opportunity needs to be there for those that want to EARN the ability to afford a home within their means(which it is) and not be mandated from some centrally managed authority.
And for those of you leftists who think I am minimizing a burger flipper or fry chef or janitor's job, let's be absolutely clear. These people, in no way, compare to the crack dealer who sandwiches his welfare check between his stack of $20's and $10's (made from slingin' rock) OR the 2nd or even 3rd generation welfare recipient (they exist!) that just meander to the welfare office to get their check. They are performing necessary job functions and many of them have plans to move above and beyond these jobs (should they want to).
This bailout needs to be slung around congresses neck and McCain needs to hang the "95% of us getting a tax break" BS around Obama's transparently socialist campaign (I would've written neck instead of campaign but some loser would accuse me of being a racist).

All of this financial mess was created by big government beaurocrats with the intention of gaining more votes to stay in office for a lifetime. They got poor people (and illegals) into homes they can't afford...they got their votes. Now that these people are financially stuck, guess who they'll be voting for? The same people that got them stuck in the homes that are now promising government relief and allowing them to somehow keep the home they can't afford at taxpayer expense.
If the Community Reinvestment Act (and it's expansions) wasn't designed to make people more dependent on the government, it did a hell of a job achieving it.

October 9, 2008 - 12:08 ET by ammo johnYesterday I was merging onto I-75 in Ky in my small semi-truck, going fast enough (62 mph, my governed speed) to join the traffic. I was checking my mirror and saw this big bus barreling down on me. Most of the time a 'normal' person would let me slip in front of them and they could just go around. Well, this big bus actually sped up, and right at the end of the merge, I slipped in behind it. On the back of the bus in big letters was "CNN EXPRESS".
I ended up passing him later down the road into Cincinnati, wishing I had a sign to show them that said:
"The CNN in-the-tank-for-Obama Express".
Later, I stopped at a restaurant in Lima, OH. Their TV's were on CNN and Campbell Brown was on. I NEVER watch CNN, and luckily the sound was off and there was no captioning, but I noticed at the bottom of the screen it said "No bias/ No bull". Naturally, I said to myself "BS!"

As Chris Matthews decided to bring up the
"tingle down the leg" in a clear bisexual reference to Barack Obama to
the Obama girl Diane Sawyer sprinting over to Obama before an interview
to have her photo taken with him, it all denotes Hugh Hefner is
speaking to his generation.
In exposing this for what it is,
Keith Olbermann is now the poster boy for the masturbation syndrome all
of these liberals are wanking on their keyboards, getting sensual
thrills about trying to ruin someone more intelligent than themselves
and in real Freudian terms are getting sexual orgasmic bliss from
Sadosexual intercourse with Barack Obama by slapping a woman around.
Plainly,
this is Olbermann Masturbation Syndrome plaguing in psychopathy
everyone from Barack Obama, David Axelrod, Charlie Gibson to Keith
Olbermann.
It is evident in the interview that Charlie Gibson
aimed at Gov. Palin with his glasses on the end of his nose, stiff
persona and degrading body language compared to his Barack Obama
interview that both Obama and Gibson were laid back as if they had just
had a shower romp in looking for the soap.
This is not Palin Derangement Syndrome. This is OMS, Olbermann Masturbation Syndrome, by the sexual context all of these perverts couch their attacks in.
