An excerpt from the interview:
KELLY: Let me ask you about the editing process. What exactly was arguably unfair about the way ABC edited the interview with the governor?
MOTLEY: Well, they edited out answers that showed her to be much more informed and much more intelligent on foreign policy issues and other issues than she appeared when they edited it down to what they presented on the air. It's also unfair the way they edited her statement about the Iraq war and our being on God's side on this.... What they edited it down to was she's saying we're fighting God's war, like we're in a crusade, like we're in a holy war. What she said was she was praying that we were on God's side, much like Abraham Lincoln did during the Civil War.
MOTLEY: And to edit it down that way, they're trying to portray her as some sort of fanatical crusader when in actuality she was saying, you know, we hope we're on God's side and we're going forward in that vein.

ABC interview of Sarah Palin
September 15, 2008 - 10:46 ET by merlin61I read the unedited edition of the interview, and
it was disgusting what they left out. Her answers
to questions were very intelligent and knowledgeable on all the questions asked.
ABC (ABD(for Democrat) slanted the interview
to make it look like she was uninformed. No
one would dare edit an interview with Obama
like they did to this very intelligent woman.

Here are the questions
September 15, 2008 - 14:20 ET by motherbeltHere are the questions Gibson asked of Palin, and of Obama
h/t Say Anything Blog
First, Obama:
How does it feel to break a glass ceiling?
How does it feel to “win”?
How does your family feel about your “winning” breaking a glass ceiling?
Who will be your VP?
Should you choose Hillary Clinton as VP?
Will you accept public finance?
What issues is your campaign about?
Will you visit Iraq?
Will you debate McCain at a town hall?
What did you think of your competitor’s [Clinton] speech?
Now Palin:
Do you have enough qualifications for the job you’re seeking? Specifically have you visited foreign countries and met foreign leaders?
Aren’t you conceited to be seeking this high level job?
Questions about foreign policy
-territorial integrity of Georgia
-allowing Georgia and Ukraine to be members of NATO
-NATO treaty
-Iranian nuclear threat
-what to do if Israel attacks Iran
-Al Qaeda motivations
-the Bush Doctrine
-attacking terrorists harbored by Pakistan

September 15, 2008 - 10:47 ET by nofateI agree that the media have no right to change the meaning of the answers, but they do it all the time. Food Lion. Exploding pickup truck gas tanks. Silicone breast implants. Trying to make Ronaldus Magnus into bealzebub. Attempting to turn Clarence Thomas into a sexual pervert. Making Bush look stupid. Making John F'ing Kerry look smart. It's a big list. Before this is over they will probabley try to make Sarah Palin look like a slut or a power hungrey she witch or both. We've still got more than a month to go. A lot can happen.

She is a blank slate and to date has only espoused the verbigage written for her in the acceptance speech --on a loop!!!
Of course, the interview was edited-- the deal was to spend 2 days with her on her turf...but that won't fit on a 30 minute segment...Now if there is PROOF that the edit changed her answers then that is playing to the same 'selective edits' used on clinton and Obama--through the primary.

let's talk about blank slates, shall we?
September 15, 2008 - 11:30 ET by spiderdanSeems the "docb" ilk is inclined to describe Governor Palin as a blank slate. That's interesting, given the fact there is not a shred of credibility or substance presented by the preferred candidates of the lunatic left. The pandering racist and socialist from Illinois, currently at the top of the Democratic ticket, has been "campaigning" against a shrew -- this somehow qualifies him to lead the free world.
The inevitable McCain victory (of course, legitimate Americans have to turn out and reject the pandering racist and socialist from Illinois) will give morons of the "docb" ilk more opportunities to declare their cause was defeated by fraud and malfeasance. What amuses legitimate Americans is the complete state of denial possessed by these dolts -- America doesn't want a gaggle of left wing idiots in charge of anything, including the roles of "sanitation technician" at the local dog pound.

That would explain why the media has been tearing into Biden since his nomination </sarc>. You libs gloss over the whole bias point. The MSM treats Palin like she's running for President. And don't give me that heartbeat away crap. That's just a lame excuse to treat Palin and Biden differently. I have yet to see a hardnosed interview with Biden or the media micro-analyze his life. What the hell do we know about Biden? Huh?
As for editing interviews. Yes we understand that an interview has to be edited for length. That editing should come in the form of cutting out less important questions. Each question included, should have the complete answer. Leaving out a small phrase or word may change the meaning of an answer entirely.
It should not be editing by a subjective process. We each hear the same thing and interpret it in our own way. What we interpret now is someone's edit of the statement. We have the right to hear the message in its entirety and form our opinions from there. The media doesn't like ambiguous statements so will edit them to fit their take on it. Another insult to my intelligence by the arrogant MSM. Shame on them.

Blank Slate? No! New Speeches Needed? Yes
September 15, 2008 - 12:27 ET by AvusSarah certainly is not a blank slate. But she is loooong overdue to get new speeches. If her only speech gets repeated any more she definitely risks looking like a blank slate, and deservedly so.

September 15, 2008 - 12:35 ET by Intellectual HonestySarah certainly is not a blank slate. But she is loooong overdue to get new speeches. If her only speech gets repeated any more she definitely risks looking like a blank slate, and deservedly so.
Sure variety is the spice of life but I believe that other than some tweaking and addressing of new issues (Fannie Mae, Lehman etc.)McCain/Palin should only gradually move the message so as to give the MSM time to lower any expectations of Palin in the debate with Biden. After palin wipes the floor with Biden it would not only be a boon for McCain/Palin credibility-wise but another slash in the wrist of the Democrat Media.
With Respect, I Disagree.
September 15, 2008 - 12:46 ET by AvusI might agree with you if the VP debate were imminent, but it's still 3 or 4 weeks away yet, about half the distance to the election. Lowered expectations is a fine strategy to a point, but she needs to move past the bridge to nowhere and the autobiographical stuff now, not later. When the crowds know the whole script by heart then it's time for new ones.
17 Days And Counting
September 15, 2008 - 13:19 ET by Intellectual HonestyI might agree with you if the VP debate were imminent, but it's still 3 or 4 weeks away yet, about half the distance to the election.
Actually it is on Oct. 2 (Washington University in St. Louis, MO) which is 17 days away. I'm not saying to not beef up the message, throw new lines in etc. but the reality is that no matter what Palin does to alter her stump speech the MSM will not give it play unless they have an angle to criticize her with it.
On more than one Democrat Media outlet I saw news stories where they took a single line from the original speech and then show her using the same line again and again to IMPLY that there is no variety. That's not proof but selective application. Needless to say Obama has the same propensity as would most candidates but the Democrat Media would never do the same sort of piece on him.
Oh Yes They Would
September 15, 2008 - 12:30 ET by Intellectual HonestyNo one would dare edit an interview with Obama like they did to this very intelligent woman.
I can't remember where I saw the comment but I thought it was spot on when it was said that the MSM would creatively edit an Obama interview TO COVER a miscue, lack of logic, stammering etc.
So we should not only be demanding a full transcript of every Palin interview but of every Obama interview too.
