The good folks at "Fox & Friends" Monday morning credited NewsBusters for exposing the four hit pieces the New York Times published Sunday about Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.
With the words "Palin Panic? NYT Puts Out 4 Hit Pieces In One Day" on the screen, co-host Gretchen Carlson teased (video embedded right):
In the meantime, we should talk a little New York Times, and the articles that they've been writing about Gov. Sarah Palin. In one day, in fact, I think that they had four articles on Sarah Palin, and last time I checked she was running for VP, wasn't she?
Co-host Steve Doocy ably took the handoff (h/t NBer blonde):
STEVE DOOCY, CO-HOST: Yes, she was. On the front page, there was something...
BRIAN KILMEADE, CO-HOST: Well, she's new.
DOOCY: ...yeah, she is new. There was a 3,100-page [word] item that started on page one. Maureen Dowd took a shot at her. Frank Rich, the former Broadway reviewer turned political pundit took a shot at her, and something else as well. It is on NewsBusters.org, which is a website that monitors the media, they said, obviously, Sarah Palin has got the liberal media in a panic, because for the New York Times to do four hit pieces on her in one day, the NewsBusters write, clearly they are in meltdown mode.
Thanks for the shoutout, gang. We greatly appreciate it.

Congratulations
September 15, 2008 - 10:33 ET by flyingmonkeyCongratulations to NewsBusters for their great work in exposing media bias. The recognition is very much deserved. Kudos to the staff.
Of course...
September 15, 2008 - 10:41 ET by Cortillaen... actually finding the bias isn't exactly hard. Heck, you couldn't toss a stone into a crowd of faux-journalists without hitting someone who regularly bends over backwards for the left. On the other hand, thanks to everyone on the NB crew for reading and watching this crap so people like me don't have to. The best part is having a nice, searchable list of offenses to slap bias-deniers in the face with. Keep it up!

Keep up the great work!

September 15, 2008 - 12:05 ET by MrShyFirst off, congrats, really, to ALL OF US at NewBusters!! :)
We all make it happen here... but of course, special mad-props to the fellas and ladies running the NB show and writing the editorials.
If they DO spin a TV show out of this site, Jack Bauer and myself better be tapped for the intro and closing sequences (music/graphics & video, that is :))

Palin has accomplished great things, while Obama has continued to make empty promises that the world owes you a living.

e-mail addy?
September 15, 2008 - 11:19 ET by BlondeDoes anyone have Fox & Friends' e-mail addy?
We ought to deluge them with e-mails, encouraging them to interview Noel (who was too modest to toot his own horn for his NB post here) on the air.
I love it that NB has a regular following amongst the media....even Mika knows we call her Bubbles. You can bet they check out this site every day for items of interest.

Noel and Rush
September 15, 2008 - 11:40 ET by nofateHey, Blonde, did you hear Rush mention that he and Noel were working on a piece detailing the Chicago connections of Obama? IMO there is a goldmine there waiting for someone with the right abilities to go in and mine it. I just did a quick search of Rush's site and I can't find the comment, it went by quickly. Something to watch for.
I'm sure they check this site. How else could NB have rated hit pieces in the drive by media? If they ever get the fairness doctrine going again, I'm convinced there will be an effort to get a version that also applies to alternative media like NB so that only their version of events can survive the regulations they put up.

What did you hear Rush say? Please be specific with a date and approximate time. ns

September 15, 2008 - 11:50 ET by nofateNS: I wish I could be more specific. It went by quickly. I did a quick search on Rush's site, but didn't come up with it, it may have been buried inside one of the other topics. This is news to you? If I have somehow mis-heard, I will offer a huge apology. Right now I'm going to go look a little more.
Update: a simple search on your name gives a mention of Jul 24, '08 as the first result. Still looking.

I'm not sure. I wasn't
September 15, 2008 - 12:10 ET by nofateI'm not sure. I wasn't expecting this kind of response. My usual m.o. is to download daily to my little "shuffle" and listen to it while walking my dog, working out, or at work when we have downtime. I just remember my ears perking up at that, but I didn't make note of the day, and it gets erased after every listening to make room for the next series of podcasts. I think it may have been Friday, but it could have been Thursday too. I can't even remember the specifics of what he said, just noted that I would have to watch for more on that. I'm still searching using "noel" as a "find on this page" type search on each subject he talked about during Thursday and Friday's shows. Still looking.

September 15, 2008 - 12:16 ET by nofateIt was recently, I'm fairly sure. See my comment to Blonde. It was just something that made my ears perk up, but I didn't attach any special significance to it except to watch for it. The search function on his site pulled up that July piece as the first one by date, but in searching around on individual topics for Friday, 9-12, I found this, so it doesn't appear to be an exhaustive or up to date search. Still looking.

Update
September 15, 2008 - 13:18 ET by nofateNS: I have searched each article for every day of last week and each of the "quick hits" for the previous week, 9-2 to 9-5, using an edit search, "find on this page" using "noel" as my search term and the only thing I have come up with is from Fri., 9-12:
But I don't think that's what I heard. The reason is that I remember thinking at the time I heard this now phantom remark, that it was cool that you and Rush were going to be working on something like that together. Also that it was cool that there had been a h/t from you and that now you and Rush, two of my biggest media heroes, were going to be working on something together (sort of a vicarious thrill, I guess). Then I just made a mental note to keep an eye out for it, and then went on with life. The first time I've thought of it since is when Blonde jogged the memory with her comment. I don't have access to the actual full transcripts of the whole show. I truly wish I could be more helpful here. Maybe I need hypnosis to have the specifics of that comment drawn out of my memory. Hmm.

Well, whether or not he said it
September 15, 2008 - 13:25 ET by BlondeI think it would be a terrific idea!
Noel....you can tell Rush you sold me one of his Renai water heaters if it helps (seriously, I just got one for hurricane season, it is awesome!).
Now we know that he regularly reads your e-mail, NS.

Hi nofate... Your story
September 15, 2008 - 13:41 ET by bigtimerHi nofate...
Your story #4 is exactly what I heard him say Friday...in fact I commented on it Friday somewhere.
Just letting you know...
He also mentioned Noel from Newsbusters name today for a brief second, something about the Steeler's game and some song that was originally Rush's...he meant this with humor is how I took it...I know I'm not doing this justice here...lol.
I also subscribe to Rush, have for years now.
I just thought I would throw this in..
I am lost to what you are talking about earlier...I very well may have missed it.

Quick hit
September 16, 2008 - 08:33 ET by nofateHey, BT, good to hear from you. I'm somewhat bewildered by this in that I can't find what I'm certain I heard. I'll just keep looking and maybe I'll eventually run across it. In the meantime, maybe Noel, with his inside connections, can run this down faster than I can :-)

Up A Creek
September 16, 2008 - 09:34 ET by nofateNoel, after a lot of searching, I have been unable to substantiate that comment. I finally resorted to sending off an e-mail to Rush explaining my predicament and requesting his help in finding said comment. I'm not holding my breath. Out of ideas here, all dead ends. Either I totally misheard, or it was just a throwaway that didn't get into any of the transcripts that I searched. Just to add insult to bruised ego, my little shuffle has died at less than 1 year of age. Now I can't even try re-listening. Fresh ideas welcome.

Terrific job.
September 15, 2008 - 11:21 ET by IamTinmanI read the Times front page article and it was heavy on promise and light on content. The editorials were even lighter! The Times has to be in real panic mode to print something as devoid of actual facts as this drivel.
