Let us never forget
September 11, 2008 - 00:44 ET by Lame CherryLet us never forget it was President Bush who roused this nation, kept it's economy from collapsing which is what 9 11 was intended to do and in answering the American people's demands went into Afghanistan and Iraq.
Let us never forget if liberals who politicized this had backed US policy that Iraq would have been at peace years ago and Afghanistan would be secure.
There would not be a Georgia now with Russian thuggery or Russian ships with nuclear arms in Syria, nor Russian ships now entering our pond down south.
Let us never forget all the dead from Pennsylvania to Kabul which are the product of Islamocommunism in a proxy war against the United States.
Let us never forget we have a nation because of God's grace and leadership in George Bush, Dick Cheney, Condi Rice and two marvelous Democrats in Zell Miller and Joe Lieberman.
God bless.

Of course, Yahoo "news" makes no mention of this. A few people asked me to
September 11, 2008 - 06:59 ET by USA4freedomA few people asked me to re-post this on 9/11 so I thought I would.
I like Glenn Beck, one of the reasons was a few years after the attack of 9/11, he replayed the whole show that he did on the day the WTC towers crashed. The show really got to me. Its not that I had forgotten but the raw emotions that we all went through, were some how softened after a few years.
This is the letter I wrote, to thank him.
Dear Glen,
Let me start off this letter by telling you that I owned a bar in Hoboken NJ, right across the river from NYC.
I was fishing in Virginia (where I’m from) when I heard the news about the world trade center. I jumped in my truck, drove as fast as I could back north. My mind racing, so many of my friends and customers work there, my own son was to work there but a hiring freeze put it off, my waitress and my ex book keeper was working in Windows of the World (the restaurant on top of the WTC). Driving as fast as I could, not knowing what I was going to do...I had to help!
As I was racing along I heard on the radio the tower fell. I had to stop, this 225 lb ex commercial fisherman was crying like a two year old. I got it back together, driving on. I got back to Hoboken, I opened the bar, person after person walked in looking for each other. I needed something to do, to help, I can run equipment, I asked the cops, they would not let us across the river, so after seeing all the fire and EMS people waiting by the path train ( the subway under the WTC) I went to the store and purchased all the bread, and lots of cold cuts, went to the bar and had every one make sandwiches for the men and women waiting, for the injured. It was really nothing, but like all of those people giving blood, it made us..feel better.
We lost a few people in the bar, one named John, just got a promotion and was now working in the tower, played on the national championship Princeton, La cross team. My waitress just got out of the last path train, running, with people falling all around her as she did, (she still has nightmares). My book keeper was not working at Windows of the World any longer. Pictures went up all over town, with peoples faces on it, have you seen..... call..
I placed a flag in my window with the caption underneath our flag.. our flag was still there.
I sold the bar in March of this year, the last thing that was taken out was my flag, I took it down as I locked the door for the last time, holding my flag, fighting back tears as I waked away.
On the anniversary of 9/11, I was riding in my truck, I listened to you replay the whole broadcast from that day two or three years ago. I felt the same way, mad, hurt, and sad. I felt the same pride in America, the country that has saved the word over and over again and our thanks is this. We will make it, I do believe this will be the greatest generation. I have faith, we all should, after all weare Americans. All of these POLITICIANS, need to remember...All I have to do is look up and see John’s hat hanging on the corner of the bar with a small American flag on it, to remember why we fight.
God bless you Glenn, and GOD BLESS AMERICA
John’s last name was
September 11, 2008 - 07:09 ET by USA4freedomJohn’s last name was Schroeder. When he would come into my bar he would almost always ask me to play some Stevie Wonder. He had some fake teeth that were horrible looking just to joke around with the women in the bar. Once in a while he would show up in an Elvis costume, just for the hell of it.
After his loss his friends never came in because my place was his favorite place, and when they came in they would get very upset that he was not with them.
At his funeral service they hung up his Princeton la cross jersey. There were so many people in the huge Church it was standing room only, down the isles, down the steps, to a crowd that numbered some where around three to five hundred in the front of the church.
John’s body was never found. I heard that they found a piece of his hip bone.
I would look at the pictures of the missing, on the telephone poles and bulletin boards around Hoboken and recognize many of the faces that have been in my place, that I would never see again. It hurt me down to my core.
Every Fri. and Sat. night I would walk out with my two head bartenders and have a cup of coffee as we looked at the NYC skyline. (we would let the new bartenders work for a while) Hoboken is right across the river from downtown Manhattan. After 9/11 my head bartenders did not want to go. I never stopped going. I went week after week. Looking at the spot where the towers stood. I wanted and needed, to remember.
So when John Edward tells us: that it’s a bumper sticker war. I would bet if he lost his son in the WTC, or that field in Pa, or in the Pentagon or in Iraq, rather than a Jeep he would look at it differently. On the other hand maybe not..
For me it’s personal.

WIFE'S REQUEST
I was sitting alone in one of those loud, casual steak houses that you find all over the country. You know the type--a bucket of peanuts on every table, shells littering the floor, and a bunch of perky college kids racing around with long neck beers and sizzling platters. Taking a sip of my iced tea, I studied the crowd over the rim of my glass. My gaze lingered on a group enjoying their meal. They wore no uniform to identify their branch of service, but they were definitely 'military:' clean shaven, cropped haircut, and that 'squared away' look that come s with pride. Smiling sadly, I glanced across my table to the empty seat where my husband usually sat. It had only been a few months since we sat in this very booth, talking about his upcoming deployment to the Middle East . That was when he made me promise to get a sitter for the kids, come back to this restaurant once a month and treat myself to a nice steak. In turn he would treasure the thought of me being here, thinking about him until he returned home. I fingered the little flag pin I constantly wear and wondered where he was at this very moment. Was he safe and warm? Was his cold any better? Were my letters getting through to him? As I pondered these thoughts, high pitched female voices from the next booth broke into my thoughts. 'I don't know what Bush is thinking about. Invading Iraq You'd think that man would learn from his old man's mistakes. Good Lord. What an idiot! I can't believe he is even in office. You do know, he stole the election.' I cut into my steak and tried to ignore them as they began an endless tirade running down our president. I thought about the last night I spent with my husband, as he prepared to deploy. He had just returned from getting his smallpox and anthrax shots. The image of him standing in our kitchen packing his gas mask still gives me chills. Once again the women's voices invaded my thoughts. ' It's all about oil, you know. Our soldiers will go in and rape and steal all the oil they can in the name of 'freedom'. Hmmm! I wonder how many innocent people they'll kill without giving it a thought. It's pure greed, you know.' My chest tightened as I stared at my wedding ring. I could still see how handsome my husband looked in his 'mess dress' the day he slipped it on my finger I wondered what he was wearing now. Probably his desert uniform, affectionately dubbed 'coffee stains' with a heavy bulletproof vest over it. 'You know, we should just leave Iraq alone. I don't think they are hiding any weapons. In fact, I bet it's all a big act just to increase the president's popularity. That's all it is, padding the military budget at the expense of our social security and education. And, you know what else? We're just asking for another 9-11. I can't say when it happens again that we didn't deserve it.' Their words brought to mind the war protesters I had watched gathering outside our base. Did no one even appreciate the sacrifice of brave men and women, who leave their homes and family to ensure our freedom? Do they even know what 'freedom' is? I glanced at the table where the young men were sitting, and saw their courageous faces change. They had stopped eating and looked at each other dejectedly, listening to the women talking. 'Well, I, for one, think it's just deplorable to invade Iraq , and I am certainly sick of our tax dollars going to train professional baby-killers we call a military.' Professional baby-killers. I thought about what a wonderful father my husband is, and of how long it would be before he would see our children again. That's it! Indignation rose up inside me. Normally reserved, pride in my husband gave me a brassy boldness I never realized I had. Tonight one voice will answer on behalf of our military, and let her pride in our troops be known. Sliding out of my booth, I walked around to the adjoining booth and placed my hands flat on their table. Lowering myself to eye level with them, smiling I said, 'I couldn't help overhearing your conversation. You see, I'm sitting here trying to enjoy my dinner alone. And, do you know why? Because my husband, whom I love with all my heart, is halfway around the world defending your right to say rotten things about him.' 'Yes, you have the right to your opinion, and what you think is none of my business. However, what you say in public is something else, and I will not sit by and listen to you ridicule MY country, MY president, MY husband, and all the other fine American men and women who put their lives on the line, just so you can have the 'freedom' to complain. Freedom is an expensive commodity, ladies. Don't let your actions cheapen it..' I must have been louder than I meant to be, because the manager came over to inquire if everything was all right 'Yes, thank you,' I replied. Then, turning back to the women, I said, 'Enjoy the rest of your meal..' As I returned to my booth applause broke out. I was embarrassed for making a scene, and went back to my half eaten steak. The women picked up their check and scurried away. After finishing my meal, and while waiting for my check, the manager returned with a huge apple cobbler ala mode. 'Compliments of those soldiers,' he said. He also smiled and said the ladies tried to pay for my dinner, but that another couple had beaten them to it. When I asked who, the manager said they had already left, but that the gentleman was a veteran, and wanted to take care of the wife of 'one of our boys.' With a lump in my throat, I gratefully turned to the soldiers and thanked them for the cobbler. Grinning from ear to ear, they came over and surrounded the booth. 'We just wanted to thank you, ma'am. You know we can't get into confrontations with civilians, so we appreciate what you did.' As I drove home, for the first time since my husband's deployment, I didn't feel quite so alone. My heart was filled with the warmth of the other diners who stopped by my table, to relate how they, too, were proud of my husband, and would keep him in their prayers. I knew their flags would fly a little higher the next day. Perhaps they would look for more tangible ways to show their pride in our country, and the military that protect her. And maybe, just maybe, the two women who were railing against our country would pause for a minute to appreciate all the freedom America offers, and the price it pays to maintain its freedom. As for me, I have learned that one voice CAN make a difference. Maybe the next time protesters gather outside the gates of the base where I live, I will proudly stand on the opposite side with a sign of my own. It will simply say, 'Thank You!' To those who fought for our nation, freedom has a flavor the protected will never know. GOD BLESS AMERICA ! Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders. Pass this on to as many as you think will respond. 'Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.' When you receive this, please stop for a moment and say a prayer for our ground, air and navy personnel in every area of the middle east. There is nothing attached.... This can be very powerful. Just send this to all the people in your address book. Do not stop this prayer chain, please.... Of all the gifts you could give to anyone in the US Military, be it Air Force, Army, Navy, Marines or National Guard, prayer is the very best one.....Amen. GOD BLESS AMERICA
Remember, only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American Soldier

Run up to 9/11
September 11, 2008 - 07:46 ET by billbLet's not forget who was in the White House for 8 years before 9/11
Nothing I could do that day
September 11, 2008 - 07:50 ET by Hero SquadNothing I could do that day mattered more than what the brave men and women at Ground Zero and the Pentagon had to endure. But I did the best that I could.
Like many of us, I was at work when the first plane hit. At the time I was the editor of a weekly newspaper, and we were on deadline day. Unlike most newspapers, we didn't have a TV so that we could track the news, and it took hours before we could get news info on the computer... as I'm sure many of us will recall. So we were getting our information over the radio. I was listening when they said the first tower fell, and honestly, it was impossible for me to fully visualize and believe what they were actually saying. It was surreal to say the least.
We first heard about it when the wife of my assistant editor called us and said a plane had hit the one tower and that another aircraft hit a short time later. I recall at first we thought it was a smaller plane, and that the second was a news aircraft that got in too close to the damage. A few minutes later we realized that was not the case and that is was more dire than that.
My wife was at home with our 6-month-old daughter, and was in a panic, fearing what might happen next. She wanted me to come home, but with my job being what it was, I had to keep working, but the focus clearly changed, and we did what we could to get a local angle on the story. It wasn't too difficult, because it impacted our town as hard as most small towns in the US.
For us, the lasting image (and the one that became a photo on our front page) was of someone standing in our town square holding a big sign that just said "Pray." Throughout the day people took turns holding it for passing motorists to see. I believe a local church set it up and had members volunteer, but it continued throughout the day.
Trying to come up with the right headline was tough, and grappling with what may seem like a trival matter... what to do about the other stories that were set to go that week was also a challenge. I thought we came up with a headline that captured the true gravity of what had just happened: "Worse than Pearl Harbor." In hindsight, I continued to second guess my decision because I thought it might be minimizing what happened at Pearl Harbor, which obviously I was not trying to do. No one ever suggested that to me, but it still sticks with you.
Like most newspaper, coverage continued for some time, as we talked to families impacted by the tragedy, volunteers who worked at Groud Zero, and local people doing what they could to help. I guess we did OK... the following year the Pennsylvania Newspaper Press Association presented special awards for 9/11 coverage, and we earned 2nd place for weekly papers. I'm proud of that not because of any accolade for myself, but because it meant that we were as successful as we could've been in sharing important stories with our readers.
Anyway, that's my story. Pray for the victims, for the stregnth of our nation, and for the safety of those who protect us so that this may never happen again.

As odd as it sounds we were
September 11, 2008 - 08:05 ET by USA4freedomAs odd as it sounds we were lucky to have only 3000 people die.
(if you read my account above) I was talking to the head of rescue people in Hoboken, I as asking him how many. He told me that he heard that there could be as many as 20,000-40,000 people could be in those buildings at one time. I asked him how many he thought were going to be pulled out of the wreckage alive, he told me: None.
My waitress (that arrived on the last train into the WTC) told me of the police officers were pulling people up the escalators and stairs and yelling: RUN!! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!
It haunts her that all of those brave men and women died trying to save more people.
I have said it before and I will say it again. Where do we find people like this?
America is truly blessed.
I recall hearing estimates
September 11, 2008 - 08:35 ET by Hero SquadI recall hearing estimates that by the end of the day, expectations were that we would lose 20,000 lives. So we can be thankful that did not come to pass.
I worked with a guy who lived in NYC at the time, and he was on a plane at JFK preparing for takeoff when the attacks occurred. He was heading to a conference in Atlanta, but the spooky thing was that before deciding to go to this conference he had to make a decision whether to attend this one, or another one-day conference that was closer to home. He chose the Atlanta conference.
The one-day conference was being held at the Windows on the World restaruant when the plane struck the building. Everyone in the restaurant perished.

September 11, 2008 - 08:26 ET by UnsaneThe one number that comes to mind this time of year:
343 (also noted above)
We lost 343 firefighters that day in the line of duty. On average, we lose about 100 a year, mostly due to heart attacks. I pause to think of that whenever a fire truck passes by or whenever I pass up a fire station. Especially in September.
(Allow me to shamelessly plug a charitable cause: volunteer fire departments. The number of people who do this work for no pay would stun most people. If you find yourself passing a VFD or perhaps you live in an area with one, toss a few bucks their way. Typically the money is used for training expenses and equipment. Okay, I'm off the soapbox...)

September 11, 2008 - 10:00 ET by KarmaI was a Volunteer Fireman for over 10 years. I still donate generously to them, although not in the form of my time as when I was younger. They come from all walks of life and, the inevitable disagreements aside, harmonize in their common goal with selflessness. It's a shame that a great many VFD's are experiencing a dwindling number of members. The many additional hours of Government mandated training requirements have helped reduce these numbers. For our VFD, it was typical to wait up to 8-10 years to be able to join the 40 man roster. I waited less than a year. When I left, we were 5 bodies short of the full 40. Today it is about 8-9 short.
Thank you Mr. President.

September 11, 2008 - 10:41 ET by tonyflo04Some of my friends, great Americans, and great drum corps fans made this tribute a few years ago...it uses music. http://www.drumcorps...
Tony, I'm so sorry...
September 11, 2008 - 12:40 ET by PrairieSkythat you lost so many friends and co-workers on that terrible day. But, I'm also very glad that you survived. I know the fact that you survived and many close to you did not, weighs heavily on you. But as you said, you've made it your duty to remind the rest of us not to forget and to be vigilant, and that something like 9/11 must not ever happen again. You, and all the others that survived 9/11, are a living testament to that day, and to to all those that this country lost. That is why you are here today. God bless you and God bless America.

Unity
September 11, 2008 - 09:04 ET by MrltavernOn this election year, we hear Obama talking about unity. That we are a country divided and that it's George Bush's politics of fear that got us here.
If 9/11 couldn't unite us, certainly Obama can't either. And I wouldnt worry about it. This country is a nation that was born out of differences, division, arguing and at times war.

MSNBC
September 11, 2008 - 09:11 ET by MrltavernWatching the Msnbc recall of the events of 9/11/2001 in real time, I am noticing media biased even as early as right after the 2nd tower fell.
Of course it came from Today Show host Katie Koran prodding "who knew, how could this be allowed to happen. I'm sure that this is a ultimate failure for the Bush administration".
Katie failed to do the proper math on 9/11/2001 and even that early after showed her partisan colors.
Bombings at the WTC in 93', Embassy bombings abroad, USS Cole attacked all under Clinton.
8 years of Clinton.
8 months of Bush.
A hack reporter who shamelessly held her own personal political leanings over serious objective journalistic reporting.
Disgraceful.

God Bless America
September 11, 2008 - 12:04 ET by KTGod Bless America and we should never ever forget what happened on that fateful day, I tear up just thinking about it. Let's thank our heroes. Thank the NYPD And NYFD , Thank the first responders. They are the heroes. My heart goes out to all of the families who were affected, from Shanksville, Pa to New York, New York. Never ever forget. And Once Again. God Bless America.
For the rest of my life...
September 11, 2008 - 12:13 ET by PrairieSkyI will never forget how I felt on that day. Even now, 7 years out, if I see pictures, footage, or a movie or documentary about 9/11, I get the same horrible feeling in my stomach that I had on that day. I was 40 years old when 9/11 happened, and it was and will remain one of the pivotal points in my life and it changed how I view the world. My family speaks of the events of that day often, and we never fail to mark the anniversary of 9/11 by saying a prayer for those who died that day. As a country, we must never, ever, forget.

Never Forget. Never Forgive.
September 11, 2008 - 16:19 ET by HillbillyKingFor the last six years on this day, I'm reminded of something that was passed along to my unit in November of 01.
For all of those that lost someone on that tragic day in September, remember; Allow God to help ease your burden.
For all of those that have felt fear since that tragic day in September, remember; Raise your eyes to Heaven and allow God to wash your fear away. "Whoever listens to me will live in safety and will be at ease without fear of harm."
For all of those that have burned with anger since that tragic day in September, remember; "Vengeance is Mine, and retribution, In due time their foot will slip; For the day of their calamity is near, And the impending things are hastening upon them."
For those of you that have been tasked with the rightous mission of avenging those that suffered on that tragic day in September, remember; "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for I am the meanest muthafucker in the whole Goddamn valley."
For those of you that perpetrated those tragic events on that day in September, remember; "Pray God has mercy on your soul, for we will have none."
God Bless the United States of America
Never Forget; We owe it to those that perished on the 11th of September 2001.
Never Forgive; No quarter will be given, We will accept no surrender. We will not rest until every no good rat fuck jihadist piece of shit lies wrapped in pigskin on their left side facing away from Mecca.
God Bless the United States of America
