For general discussion and debate. Possible talking point: RNC the most viewed convention in history!
Aren't Republicans out of favor? Isn't this the year of the Democrats? Isn't the Obamessiah all the rage? How could the RNC set viewing records?
Was it all about Sarah? Or might the public have been turned off by the socialism on display in Denver, and realized the changes Obama/Biden are talking about are the same, leftwing, tax and spend, wealth redistribution concepts every Democrat presidential candidate has been talking about since George McGovern?
After all, if it's just Sarah, why did so many people watch McCain's speech Thursday evening? Thoughts?

I did not watch McCains speech, I was not interested, but I wonder why "so many" watched ? That statistic was interesting, and I guess when I hear the MSM talk, I make an adjustment to what they are saying, and evidently I need to make a "Larger Adjustment" to the MSM view of the people of America and what they think. My closing line at the bottom here, might be a hint of why I'm surprised....ROFLMAO...

I think the huge numbers for the McCain speech are partly due to new (D) voters that were lured by Palin. If they are going to switch their votes, they need to find out what McCain's message for America is, so they tuned in.

I was not a John McCain
September 7, 2008 - 12:27 ET by BuxomAnnieMcGreggorI was not a John McCain fan. I was going to vote for him BP [Before Palin] only to poke my cute little voting finger in the eye of the MSM. And now that it's AC [After Convention] I have come to realize that Sarah Palin is the CLOSEST person in politics that I have to representing ME in Washington DC. She says things that I would say (albeit without the sexual overtones and bawdy undertones) if I were facing off with the political penis heads. She has so much that I want for myself... she makes me want to be a better person than I am. I may not agree with everything she represents, but I sure as hell know integrity when I see it. I watched the convention to witness the pride in what we have as Americans, and to witness a possible path to be better than what we are.... to be better than what I am. Sarah Palin is more of a man than any whimpy Dem male I have ever known in my entire life.
And as for John McCain. I may not have always liked you, but after finding out about you and that HUGE character you have built for yourself over a lifetime... I have gained new respect for you... and a new respect for the ability to make OUTSTANDING decisions when you find yourself in the trenches.

September 7, 2008 - 12:44 ET by VinncyGI read on Newsmax that McCain plans to include Democrats in his cabinet. The biggest mistake President Bush made immediately after his first election was to include the democrats into his policy making when they proved they had no intention of any type of bipartisanship.
If we are fortunate to elect McCain make it a true republican victory and start passing energy policies for independence from foreign countries and start dealing with home issues like immigration without pork. Its time WE lead and not expect the democrats to work hand in hand with us especially while it's controlled by the extreme left.
It should also start with the republican party making considerable headway in the House and Senate.

The Dems must be praying to whomever they pray (Gaai, AlGore, Head Witch) that the Reps get NO bounce. Seeing as one of their TPs since Palin Day is that while she played in the hall with the base, she didn't in the country.

RNC / Really Neat Couple
September 7, 2008 - 14:10 ET by Lame CherryLiberals invested the latter 1900's in vilifying Richard Nixon.
Want to know who wrote a book of political notes for Ronald Reagan which Reagan followed? Richard Nixon.
Why do I bring up Richard Nixon?
I posted on Newsbusters last winter a prediction that if Richard Nixon was around he would make this election a Republican landslide as all the political ingredients were there.
Guess who is talking landslide now for McCain Palin? Hillary feminists just as I predicted when I called for a Conservative woman to be put on the McCain ticket.
The silent majority who Richard Nixon noted 40 years ago this year is a majority of Americans, libertarian in nature, quiet, law and order, with an electorate both right, middle and left.
This is who tuned into see John McCain and Sarah Palin. Gov. Palin set the buzz and by the next night the American majority tuned in to see if what they heard was true in the Americans were back.
It is Democrats who divide these groups up into order to conquer in calling people Christian, gay, gender gap (ain't heard boo about that one have you when the GOP is winning it have you) etc.....
These people are all Americans, but the left never has any idea what makes their entire nature tick. I heard racist Clarence Page spout off that Obamaback Rick Warren was the future of "christians".
Earth to liberal Page, Warren by last studies was loosing membership, has been outed a pariah by Joseph Farah and no one but the Crystal Cathedral crowd who like playing with Obama toys because all the other simps are playing with Obama toys are hanging around Warren until a new intel religion plant gathers this group for profit.
There is always that swing vote which votes with whoever is most popular of 25 million voters. They like the Patriots when they win just like they like George Bush when he wins, but when they loose then they become Giants fans or tell polling operations they are voting for fashionable Obama.
That is why it is so very important for people here to put our backs to the wall and be hard sells, to live and die on this ground with Sarah Palin no matter what for the stakes involved for America. She is this nations best hope for peace by not getting involved in a coming Eurasian war, by getting America energy independent.
I want to address something here to in liberals are claiming it will take 10 years to bring in drilled oil wells out of Alaska.
America right now has oil wells capped from Texas to North Dakota. I know this because I know the ranchers whose lands these wells are capped on. That means ALREADY DRILLED and just has to be immediately pumped.
I know that eastern Montana has such high grade crude oil it is not black, but it is greenish in color.
What that means is this if you know the California refineries as I do in the people there. They get that rot out of Venezuela which is sulpher laden garbage. Once in a great while a ship comes in out of Alaska with that sweet crude, the reason it is called sweet is that it doesn't stink like rotten egg sulpher.
Alaskan crude which goes mostly to Alaska our ally, literally refines itself it is so pure.
Why this matters is Gull Island is already tapped. Governor Palin knows all of this, knows Swanson River which is what Alaska gets its natural gas from was found in July to contain a bigger supply of sweet crude than Prudhoe Bay.
There are 4 major fields in Alaska and numerous "small"fields. ALL OF THEM are different pressure rates which means they are different reserviors.
Alaska has a 200 year supply of sweet crude oil for the United States burning gas in records amounts. Gull Island is larger than Saudi Arabia alone.
The American crude oil supply of sweet crude is larger than all the Russian and Middle Eastern reserves. Those are the facts along with the massive natural gas supplies America has.
Gov. Palin knows all of this as this is her world. Her policy with John McCain with yes President Bush in biofuels and his 2006 State of the Union address which noted America was getting out of the Persian Gulf means he was preparing America for what he knows is coming in an Eurasian world war.
McCain / Palin will keep America out of that war and make America military secure so she is not invaded while Barack Obama has in his policy to gut the US military.
There is one danger in this and Richard Nixon would know it. For all the CFR garbage Henry Kissinger was about, it was very good to see the old man at the RNC for the simple reason President Bush has been placed into a position to strike Iran before he leaves office as Iran has nuclear weapons they purchased from Russia, have built a Dr. Khan micor cone nuclear which will allow their Shahab 3 to be a MERV system and they have been practicing in the Caspian sea to detonate warheads launched from ships which means they are preparing to strike New York with Russian uranium to deny they did it.
Iran was attempting to sell Columbia FARC uranium for such an attack on America from Russian uranium.
Iran will attack America either by proxy or if struck by America.
They obtained 10 years ago a Chinese upgrade refinement and have been able to produce 30 nuclear warhedas now. That is why America has not hit them and why the French threatened to vaporize them under Chirac.
The intel knows of 20 sites, that leaves 10 unaccounted for in retaliation.
Now this is what the silent majority of Nixon senses. Do you want an Muslim taught black Arab whose idea of America it is broken, will gut the military and his crew are bisexual communists who use sex to abuse people in Davis and Ayers by their own written biographies?
Add in thought thief Biden with what they did to Lawrence Sinclair, Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin in smearing them WITH BIDENS STATED POLICY WHEN ELECTED is not to go after terrorists, but he is going to criminally try George Bush in court.
The contrast is John McCain someone tested and Sarah Palin in someone tried.
Zogby after he lied in the Kerry election to try and manipulate the public is currently being honest. He has McCain Palin up by 5 points. I deem that means as I predicted under real voters McCain Palin has now opened 10 point lead.
Americans must stand with John McCain and Sarah Palin, for trust in that that Conservatives this time are not going to allow a George Bush blank check where they took the hits for his socialist policy which reflected a bit too much Bill Buckley.
This is what Richard Nixon knew and would know now. John McCain God bless him, has run an absolutely brilliant campaign in taking on 4 swipes at Obama and leveling him.
Defend Sarah and John people, put it to the firewall now in not backing down, go after Obama and Biden for the crooks they are, invite our liberals sisters to join us in backing Sarah Palin, welcome all the Democrats who understand this is about America in we are Americans and make a strong line between the nonsense of Barack Obama and who that population of Hillary, Edwards, Richardson voters are.
We will never agree on everything, but we will always agree on America.
We as Americans have the opportunity now to take our nation back from the lawyer, racism, big money Soros, Marxist ilk of Barack Obama.
I fully understand black people backing Mr. Obama, but black people have been deceived. Goodness people why was Jesse Jackson so steamed and the black commentator agreeing with him about the testicle factor, but because these liberal black leaders know Obama is a fraud to them.
John McCain is going to like Nixon bring in key middle Democrats like Joe Lieberman to give them voice. This is an American election and the viewership of the RNC reveals that trend.
The silent majority tuned in as they did not like what they saw in the DNC.
I remind people to remember the most heartfelt cheering was for Bill Clinton. Obama made that crowd cry.
John McCain and Sarah Palin are going to come under a horrid attack where Obama will do to them what he did to Hillary Clinton and Lawrence Sinclair.
The Obama syndicate is an intelligence operation and they are criminal by deed. John and Sarah are going to be going full tilt the next 60 days or so, all of us are going to have to go full tilt too for America.
Stop fighting amongst ourselves, gird it up, stand up for them in your conversations offline in being informed what a disaster Obama is for American jobs and security, and pour it to the max in hammering this molotov mob of the MSM and their internet proxies working for Obama. Make precise hits on them like Warner Todd Huston and Tom Blumer do.........do not go into the encyclopedia of thought laying out a precise Hamiltonian debate explaining things in depth as people in the Greta and Olbermann blogs can only handle 3 sentences in thought.
I explain fully here as people here read for the most part and most can digest and undestand desiring the full understanding of the battlefield they are engaged.
That is why Americans tuned into McCain and thank God, John McCain and is greatest asset in strategy in Cindy McCain know this Nixon battle before them.
America doesn't need Obama revolution and people at large need to know this. America is the perfect system and all we need is someone in John McCain in experience in security, Cindy McCain who loves all Americans and is proud of her nation and Sarah Palin who knows reform and energy policy.
Just put in the right people who know how to run this ship instead of hate it and sink it, and America runs ok in George Bush, but put in people like John McCain and Sarah Palin who know who to run the engine below deck, the helm above and even can keep track of the fueling ship and you have Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt and Ronald Reagan.
Oh and to Junior Reagan once again disgracing himself and ruining Ronald Reagan's memory by joining with the political rapists against Sarah Palin.

September 7, 2008 - 19:23 ET by bigtimermb and upc....
I heard McCain on face the Nation this morning too...I came unglued, couldn't watch it all to the end...he makes me puke.
Period.
I advise others to watch before criticizing me...that is if you are a conservative and all...he cannot help but be who he always has been, in the meanwhile he sticks it to the base that finally came together for him...I am sick of hearing bout how smart it is strategically to reach out to the other side by others, hell he has done that for years...he has been a real detriment in many ways to us...I am sick of saying I appreciate his service...I DO...but enough already.
He should just shut the hell up...let Sarah do the talking and go hole up in a cave somewhere until the election is over...because the more he talks, the more I am losing my extreme joy in having an excuse to vote for him for with Palin on the ticket.

What do liberal feminists want? Ben vs. Todd
September 7, 2008 - 14:36 ET by mom_roxSally Quinn repeated her opinion about family vs. country on CNN's Reliable Sources. She spoke again about her very high-powered female friends who struggle to balance family and work.
Is she a little jealous that Todd and Sarah Palin share their parenting responsibilities on more equal terms? Perhaps she wishes that her husband, Ben Bradlee, were a little more like Todd Palin?
What's the difference between Barack Obama and Sarah Palin?

Rasmussen now shows the Presidential race tied!
September 7, 2008 - 14:39 ET by Free StinkerRasmussen now shows the Presidential race tied!
And this is even after 9 days of relentless hammering by the MSM and the fact that (in the words of Lowell Ponte) "Gov. Palin has been subjected to one of the most massive and dishonest pile-on smear attacks in the history of liberal media."
Wow Free - the biggest news is what happened in the battleground
September 7, 2008 - 14:53 ET by Dee Bunkstates. That's what I've been waiting for. Did you read the whole thing? Each and every change in the battlegrounds shifted towards McCain. This is great news!
Here's the page on the battlegrounds

September 7, 2008 - 15:01 ET by Free StinkerAnd that report was from Before Sarah Palin was announced ! Can't wait to see how the state-by-state breakdown looks once Sara-cuda is factored in.
The Democrats are so stupid, I actually read somewhere that one of them thought Alaska might be "in-play" for the election. Give me a break!

Free -- Big insider rumors
September 7, 2008 - 15:18 ET by Jack BauerFree -- Big insider rumors a couple of hours ago on Fox are that McPalin ticket leads with huge bounce, outside margin of error. I'm guessing that must be in 49/44 region
Polls out Mon/Tues.
Dang Free - I thought that was from Sept 7th also
September 7, 2008 - 15:26 ET by Dee Bunkthe way they linked it. I guess it is even better like you say, because if it trends more towards McCain again it could actually put some states in solid red.
"Terror" reporters switched to hit Palin

Yes folks, this is the stae of the Main Stream Morons...
Get this, the influential CounterTerrorism Blog is reporting with certitude that...
Just heard Palin will be interviewed by ABC
September 7, 2008 - 16:11 ET by Dee Bunksoon. I wish that McCain would have given Fox the first interview. ABC is the least biased of the three networks, but they are still Obama supporters. I don't know what is wrong with Republicans. They all do the same thing. They should always give the first exclusive to Fox.
not so fast dee
September 7, 2008 - 16:22 ET by candanceThis is a smart move by Palin for a few reasons:
1) It takes away Dems' ammunition that Palin is avoiding the MSM. Debuting on Fox would be spun like she stepped into the kiddie pool to get her feet wet before being challenged. By taking on a traditional network right away, no one can call her a coward.
2) It weakens the argument that Fox News favors Republicans. By allowing another network to book her first, Fox looks like they're simply waiting their turn like everyone else.
3) First impressions are everything - if she hits a homerun in a tough interview the week after her debut, voters will be even more impressed.
Very good move IMO.
Candance & Dee
September 7, 2008 - 16:31 ET by Free StinkerStrategically it probably is a good move to do the interview on ABC, but I understand Dee's sentiment.
ABC has operating as if they are the publicity arm of Obama's campaign, and if it were posible, I wish the Republicans would tell them to bugger off. Hopwever, since ABC does have an audience, there's no getting around dealing with those knuckleheads.
Or NBC, or MSDNC, or SeeBS either.
Sarah Palin - This is what a Conservative looks like !
I'm sure that is why they did it Candance
September 7, 2008 - 16:39 ET by Dee Bunkand I guess it is better because FOX would have given her a tough interview also but the lefties would still dismiss it.
I just think FOX should be rewarded for it's professionalism of Fox News Sunday and Brit Hume's Special Report. They could have given Brit Hume, or Bret Bar the first interview with ABC on the next day. This is going be a big ratings boost for ABC and they don't deserve it. As I said though, of any of the three major networks, ABC is the only one that even makes an effort to be professional, so I'm glad it's them rather than NBC or CBS.
I hope she at least gives Chris Wallace the first Sunday show appearance.

September 7, 2008 - 16:57 ET by BlondeWhile I agree with both of your very spot-on points, I'd take it even a step further.
I think Palin ought to walk into the set of Morning Joe for maybe her third interview.
Mika was absolutely over the moon about Palin the other day (she actually stood up in anger when some guy, I think O'Donnell, made a male chauvinist piggish statement about Palin).
By going on MSNBC, Palin could say she went straight into the enemy's camp, and I know she'd charm the socks off of Joe and Mika.
<edit> Of course, this great thought of mine suffers from the fact that this interview would only be seen by about four viewers, myself & Mark Finklestein included. :)

Blonde - I'd watch that morning Joe
September 7, 2008 - 17:06 ET by Dee BunkI have watched it a few times because of you and Mark. I still think it's to liberally biased though. It's the best MSNBC show for sure.
That would make five, Dee
September 7, 2008 - 17:18 ET by BlondeOh, it's definitely extremely left wing. But it's kind of funny in a train-wreck sort of way.
Plus, I really enjoy the libs talking amongst themselves. They let their hair down and let loose with their real thoughts.
It's going to be very, very interesting to see what Mika & Andrea Mitchell, particularly, have to say about Sarah Palin this week. Is Andrea's change of heart real (I'm guessing not)?
Joe's going to love her of course. He can't help it, the conservative in him comes out occasionally. I hope he can keep his job through the election, anyway. He was a riot with Hillary....called her "his girlfriend" to her face, no less.
David Gregory, do you know which damn network you lie for? ~ Uncle Jimbo, @Blackfive
I'll add one more
September 7, 2008 - 17:54 ET by mom_roxMany will be watching to see if Charlie Gibson conducts a fair interview - questions of a similar nature that he has asked to Obama and Biden.
I agree with going the non-Fox News route.

A Question for my fellow NB'ers
September 7, 2008 - 17:32 ET by BlondeI got a new widescreen monitor last week.
On this monitor, it appears that any double l's, ie as in Hillary, have orange behind them, like they're linked to something else.
Is this just my new monitor, or does anyone else (particularly w/widescreen) see this as well. It's a ViewSonic.

Resolution
September 7, 2008 - 17:39 ET by dmntd1Sounds like the problem I had with my new widescreen monitor. You ought to check the 'recommended resolution' with your monitor, and make sure it's set that way in the monitor properties. If you're unlucky like me, and using an older computer, you might have to get a new video card.
On the plus side, with the new video card, you can use both the old AND the new (assuming the old one still works) and use both monitors. That's the way I'm doing it now, and it bugs me to go to my single-screen laptop now...

Thanks, dmntd1
September 7, 2008 - 17:44 ET by BlondeI'll check that...I have it set up as the secondary screen on my laptop.
It' just seemed kind of odd....and I hadn't seen that with my other widescreen.
BTW....got it at Costco, great deal online if anyone needs a new monitor.

September 7, 2008 - 18:52 ET by JayTeePalin should not appear on any MSM station unless they agree to have a Former Republican staff member, maybe Carl Rove, do the softball Questioning....sorta like Stephanopoli interviewing Obama.
Failing in that, she should "starve" the MSM for having her presence. Stiff 'em for weeks, after all, she is just a VP.

September 7, 2008 - 19:23 ET by BDSHe has a good position, she can say "After the way you guys treated my family, aint no way..." and get away with it.
THen the McCain campaign can dose her out in appropriate amounts so she does not get overexposed.
And the press can only blame themselves.

Oh Sheesh...Obama's doing a Hillary
September 7, 2008 - 19:16 ET by BlondeNow he's saying he thought of joining the military in 1979 (just like Hillary was going to join the Marines).
I found this linked at Drudge.
Oh....and check out this paragraph from the same article....since when have U.S. Senator's seats become hereditary?
Beau Biden, 39, elder son of Senator Joe Biden, Mr Obama's running mate, is scheduled to go to Iraq early next year. Beau Biden is attorney general of Delaware and a captain in the legal corps of the US Army's National Guard. He is in line to inherit his father's Senate seat should Mr Obama win the White House.
Also note the para two down from the above....accepted wisdom in the UK that George Bush joined the Texas Air National Guard to avoid "active" military service?
Jack....is this what Brits really think?
