August 31, 2008 - 09:07 ET by kch50428They'd open their convention, have a unanimous consent 'vote' to approve the nominations, party platform, etc. and show up the 'rats by putting the country over the party's show.
I don't think they can delay it at this point
August 31, 2008 - 09:38 ET by sarcasmoBut shortening the convention like you said might be a very good idea, since the outcome is already known and there are AFAIK no platform issues. Republicans would look serious and ready to get to work if they ended it early, while at the same time giving the news media less of a target. I hope & pray this thing weakens, but every time I look it gets worse, and it's HUGE...

August 31, 2008 - 10:26 ET by allamericandudeMcCain should have thought about suspending his birthday bash in 2005 when Katrina was battering Louisiana. Instead he and W. had a wild time in Arizona gulping down tasty birthday cake while American citizens were drowning in New Orleans - Kudos to Michael Moore for making note of this on Countdown with Keith Olbermann. The Repubs can go ahead and suspend their convention but the American public wont buy it, they know this is all theater. Everybody knows the GOP couldn't care less about those people down there. They'll have to do way more than suspend a flimsy party convention to convince anybody.

August 31, 2008 - 12:33 ET by MrShyOkay, you got me on that one. Funny indeed.
You see, I can give props to my enemy. And make no mistake, someone siding with pukes like Moore and Olbermann, until they come to their senses, is my enemy.
If you really find those two to be nobel and carrying some flag for a just cause against some true "evil" in this country, I feel sorry for you. Good and evil are everywhere, but these two HACKS carry only a twisted liberal agenda in their hate. Olbermann, especially, is truly despicable, and that MSNBC gives a nightly, prime-time platform to an out-and-out radical-liberal agenda propagandist -- where every night, for 90% of the show, it smears anything GOP and has only suck-up/kiss-ass far left guests, making no attempt to bring an ounce of balance whatsoever (and I'm sure this is not lost on you, or you're dumber than dumb) -- is frightening. I mean that.
On top of that, they're second-in-command show is Hardball, which is almost as sorry in it's shilling for the left. Then the topper? They employ these two leftist nutcases to be the lead anchors at the conventions!
Absolutely a disgrace.
I'm from NYC, AAD, and you need to understand that these corporations -- from CNN to MSNC to the nightly news shows -- I will bet have not ONE conservative hired fulltime behind the scenes. Yes, they have their Republican guests and a host here and their, but I mean in the offices, running the programming. Fox is the other side of the spectrum, sure, but they, too, are based in NYC and I'll guarantee that it's employees have more of a mix, by default of where their offices are located.
You really need to wake up, allamericandude.

Why we love Keith
August 31, 2008 - 12:57 ET by allamericandudeName me one liberal on Fox! Don't come with Alan Colmes because we all know he's just paid to keep Sean's company. You guys don't get it, Keith Olbermann is a hero on the left because he is the only guy on television who speaks up for us. Tweety (Chris Matthews) speaks up for our side sometimes but he often gets off track. You guys on the right have so many pundits to propagate your talking points, Billo, Hannity, Beck to name a few but Keith is the only guy we have so we treasure him like gold. For years cable news has had a right wing bias especially with the rise of Fox news. Fortunatley America's hero Keith Olbermann is now correcting that. You guys are angry because you wanted to control the agenda for ever. I'm glad that Mr. Olbermann is not allowing y'all to do that.

Okay:
Lesson 1. Shoot all looters - regardless of race and social standing.
Lesson 2. If the civilians in the disaster zone are not willing to self evacuate even after the disaster - forget em.
Lesson 3. Just because you are a disadvantaged minority does not give you the right to hole up in a domed stadium and make demands.
Lesson 4. Be prepared means YOU!
Lesson 5. If I give you a trailer to live in after your tenement apartment is damaged - do not bitch if it has formadahyde in the walls. If you do not like it, find somewhere else to live.
Lesson 6. If you shoot at rescue helicopters - we will not take you prisoner. Your moldy body will reappear in due time.
Lesson 7. If I give you money to help recover from the disaster and find you spending it at topless bars for lapdances - You incur an immediate ass kicking. Do not call you lawyer, if he intervenes, he gets one too.

Republicans Destroyed Congress's Credibility
August 31, 2008 - 12:31 ET by allamericandudeThe Republicans are largely responsible for the erosion in confidence in Congress. The Republicans in Congress were exceedingly corrupt and thats why the electorate gave them the boot; as unpopular as Congress is today, The Dems are set to increase their majorities in both houses because the public just cannot trust the Repubs. The Republicans destroyed the credibility of Congress acting as a rubber-stamp to Bush when they were in control. The Democrats are trying to restore the institution's integrity but it will never happen unless we have a Democrat in the White House. That's why we must all do our part to make sure that Obama is elected as the next President of the United States.

When Dems took the majority, Pelosi stood in Congress and promised to do a litany of things. So either she's not strong enough to come through on what she *promised* or she was lying because she knew she couldn't do it.
Either way, it sucks to be her.

August 31, 2008 - 18:03 ET by BlazerGas was like $ 2.10 a gallon when the Democrats took over Congress in Nov. 06'. In those two yrs. the price of a gallon of gas has increased by over 100%, to $ 4.14 a gallon, over two dollars !, but in the twelve yrs. of a Republican controlled Congress a gallon of gas only went up by 75 cents.
Heres an interesting graph for you:

Lets not forget what ol' San Fran Nan said either:
“Democrats have a commonsense plan to help bring down skyrocketing gas
prices by cracking down on price gouging, rolling back the billions of
dollars in taxpayer subsidies, tax breaks and royalty relief given to
big oil and gas companies, and increasing production of alternative
fuels.”
You may want to write Speaker Pelosi personally and ask her when her "most ethical", "lowest rated" Congress in history plans on rolling out that "common sense" plan, I think we've all waited long enough.

It rained today. I cried.
August 31, 2008 - 10:57 ET by JWFLast time I checked. The country was roughtly evenly split between Rupublicans and Democrats.
So your argument is thusly, half of the country does not care and votes for candidates that run on the "I don't care" platform.
Half of the country also enjoyed cake while people were drowning in WAIST DEEP water. Now we know why Replublicans stay out of the shallow end of the pool. Dangerous place that.
Last time I checked, the GOP does not care about YOU and your kudos to Micheal Moore. The GOP is suspending the convention to punch hippy lovin', michael moore kudoin', drowning people lyin', Olberman watchin', nontasty cake eatin', birthday bash suspendin' loony batpaste eatin', delusional waste of oxygen whiners such as yourself.
Here is what we do. We declare war on the hippies! All the hippies show up to protest the war the hippies. We are all standing beside the road, shades of "The Guantlet", waiting for the hippy march.
Done. Convention back on. Time lost - 13 minutes.
Democrats outnumber Republicans
August 31, 2008 - 11:43 ET by allamericandudeLast time I checked there were more Democrats in America than Republicans and this has always been the case for decades. Even better (for me) or worse (from your perspective) more and more Americans have been registering as Democrats over recent years. Republicans generally only win elections when Democrats cross over and vote for them. Reagan would not have been possible if wasn't for those Reagan Democrats. Whether you like it or not this is a Democratic Nation and the Dems can really fix your business if they only unite and put their minds to it. The most populous states in the union are Democratic. Although Republicans have won 7 of the last 10 elections (with the help of cross over Democrats) Democrats have always outnumbered Republicans even throughout the Reagan years. As a testimony to this, Congress have remained under Democratic control for almost half a century before it was eventually overthrown by the Republicans in 94 and then regained by the Democrats in 2006. No Republican President since Teddy Rossevelt has ever served with their party in control of both houses of Congress for the duration of their Presidency but every Democratic President has had that opportunity except Bill Clinton. Bush almost accomplished this for the Republicans finally but the Democrats spoiled his business in 06 when they took back the Senate and the House from the corrupt Republicans.
The Democratic base is bigger than the Republicans but the Repubs were generally better at turning out their voters in the past that's why they have been winning elections. Not so this year as Democrats are energized like never before. If Democrats turn out and vote like they have been in the primaries, the Republicans are TOAST.
Why does all of your comments sound strangely like this.
August 31, 2008 - 11:52 ET by JWFTo all readers: This is not a tickle-your-ears, politically correct letter. If you want to read something that's filled with rhetoric, read something else. If you want the truth, then read this letter. For complete details, I refer you to my forthcoming book on the subject. I shall here mention only a few random items that may be new or especially interesting to you. For instance, in the Old Testament, the Book of Kings relates how the priests of Baal were slain for deceiving the people. I'm not suggesting that there be any contemporary parallel involving Mr. All American Dude, but if Fate desired that Mr. Dude make a correct application of what he had read about terrorism it would have to indicate title and page number since the improvident utopian would otherwise never in all his life find the correct place. But since Fate does not do this, Mr. Dude claims that skin color means more than skill and gender is more impressive than genius. Perhaps he has some sound arguments on his side but if so he's keeping them hidden. I'd say it's far more likely that Mr. Dude should stop calling me an incompetent stirrer. Although I've been called worse things by better people, I wouldn't judge Mr. Dude's gofers too harshly. They're undeniably just cannon fodder for Mr. Dude's plot to feed information from sources inside the government to organizations with particularly feebleminded agendas.
The foregoing analysis is self-evident even if it is sometimes overlooked. Less evident are the specific ways in which we should preserve the peace. Mr. Dude maintains that those who disagree with him should be cast into the outer darkness, should be shunned, should starve. This is hardly the case. Rather, there is growing evidence that says, to the contrary, that I find him the most yawping person in the world. That's the sort of statement that some people claim is irritating but which I believe is merely a statement of fact. And it's a statement that needs to be made because he claims to have turned over a new leaf shortly after getting caught trying to formulate social policies and action programs based on the most coprophagous sorts of nihilism in existence. This claim is an outright lie that is still being circulated by Mr. Dude's torchbearers. The truth is that illiterate, self-indulgent defalcators are born, not made. That dictum is as unimpeachable as the "poeta nascitur, non fit" that it echoes and as irreproachable as the brocard that if Mr. Dude wants to be taken seriously, he should counter the arguments in this letter with facts, not illogical panaceas, personal anecdotes, or insults.
Mr. Dude claims that we can change the truth if we don't like it the way it is. I avouch that the absurdities within that claim speak for themselves although I should add that Mr. Dude's monographs are based on a denial of reality, on the substitution of a deliberately falsified picture of the world in place of reality. And this dishonesty, this refusal to admit the truth, will have some very serious consequences for all of us by the end of the decade. In closing this letter, let me point out that I would be remiss if I didn't remind you that Mr. All American Dude's understrappers acquiesce with bovine stolidity when he instructs them to produce a new generation of puerile racketeers whose opinions and prejudices, far from being enlightened and challenged, are simply legitimized.

Yea there are many, many
August 31, 2008 - 11:56 ET by BlazerYea there are many, many more liberal voters than conservative ones, thats why a Republican has been in the Whitehouse 20 out of the last 28 yrs.
So let me get this straight, Republicans only win elections when liberals cross over and vote for them ? LOL, I'd say you have that backwards, thats why liberal candidates have to slide decidedly right and turn their backs on their base to get elected, their the ones who are in most need of crossover votes, but a conservative needs only stay right and play to the base of their party.
