For general discussion and debate. Possible talking point: Jesse Jackson slams Obama!

"See, Barack [has] been talking down to black people . . . I wanna cut his [testicles] out," Jackson said. His whispered comments - accompanied by his hand-miming a cutting motion - were picked up by a live mike before an interview on health care in Fox News Channel's Chicago studio Sunday. (video available here)

How serious is this? Does this likely demonstrate Jackson's real feelings toward Obama, as well as his concern that he will become irrelevant if the junior senator from Illinois wins in November?

After all, how do you convince your fellow African-Americans that the U.S. is racist and the game is rigged against them when there's a black man in the White House? Certainly doesn't seem that an Obama victory will be good for Jesse's business, does it?

Do I think this is serious? No. But it is for Jesse. After all, he has been a Professional Offendee-Surrogate (POS) for most of his career. Who will he go to for absolution? Imus?

“it is not the role of this Court to pronounce the Second Amendment extinct.” - Justice Antonin Scalia

Opposing view points?

It you look at Jackson's explanation/apology you will see two entirely different and opposing views of government.  In the speech that Jackson was critcizing, Obama is speaking about people, in this case fathers, taking responsibility for their own actions.

In Jackson's explanation/apology, he says "My appeal was for the moral content of his message to not only deal with the personal and moral responsibility of black males, but to deal with the collective moral responsibility of government and the public policy which would be a corrective action for the lack of good choices that often led to their irresponsibility.''

Whether or not you can believe Obama is truly for individual's taking responsibility for their own actions (as some of his other statements and stances might say otherwise); clearly Jackson is for big government taking the place of individual responsibility.

Let me get this straight

Let me get this straight;

1. We have a man here (Jackson) that has fathered several children out of wedlock.

2. We have a man here who has had various affairs outside the marriage.

3. We have a man here who has furthered racial tensions at every given opportunity, even by furthering false claims that so-called victims of white hate have perpetrated; and he knew they were lies.

4. We have here a man who practices open extortion against American companies to fill his own coffers,,,,including paying off ladies with whom he has transgressed.

5. We have here a man who has utilized the struggles of an entire race to vault himself into the spotlight and line his own pockets.

6. WE HAVE HERE A MAN THAT WE REFER TO AS REVEREND!!!!!!!!!!

After all, he [Jesse

After all, he [Jesse Jackson] has
been a Professional Offendee-Surrogate (POS) for most of his career.
Who will he go to for absolution? Imus?

Are you kidding? Right now, Obama is working on a soon-to-be-announced "Speech On Forgiveness"

Jesse's comments

Jackson's comments were very racist. They used to casterate black men in the South for looking at a white woman. Why did the MSM not point that out?

Be kind to your kids. They'll be choosing your nursing home.

Come now people - Jesse's a

Come now people - Jesse's a Democrat hero - so I suggest we delete this entire thread right now and completely ignore all this and just let it go away, OK please...?

If it was a Republican like Larry Craig touching a guys shoe in a crowded rest room I could see maybe trying to drag him down and end his career but again Jesse is A DEMOCRAT OK SO IT'S ALLLLLL DIFFERENT IN THIS SITUATION BECAUSE HE'S NOT CONSERVATIVE OR REPUBLICAN ETC...

Besides, I think the sound

Besides, I think the sound man was white!!!

This is so funny, I wonder

This is so funny, I wonder how long the MSM will talk about this, or are they finished with it already. Will they call JJ a racist for disliking Obama, just like me?

Dems enjoy talking down to black people, they've been doing it for years, Jackson included. Why would they stop now?

Doncha know, Jackson feels

Doncha know, Jackson feels Obama isn't 'authentically black' unlike himself, the perpetual victim.

A really good example of this pettiness in the Democrat lifeblood is the documentary "Street Fight" about the 2002 mayoral race in Newark NJ. It is really worth renting.

nuts

It was just a few sentences no big deal, Jesse can't cut them off anyway, Michelle already has them in a jar :-)

Some folks can dish it out but cannot take it

No problem

Jesse's comments will disappear down the black hole...oh excuse me..that would be WHITE HOLE of media disinterest.    He scooped Fox by apologizing BEFORE Fox played the comment and then Fox didn't have the n**s to play all of it.       Jesse's complaint?  'Barack talk down to black folk.'   That translates into don't give good advice to blacks.  Let them continue down the road to their own destruction...and ours.   If B. Hussein Obama claims the White House, there will be no change in the anger of blacks....except to get worse.

let's not get carried away

We're forgetting one of the canons of the Left - black liberals can do no wrong. This will be settled with a simple apology and flushed down the memory hole.

Yes, and yes, to real

Yes, and yes, to real feelings and fear of irrelevance. Of course a black President would completely supplant any influence Jackson has.

Are they finished with it? Yea; they never even really started with it. They reported his apology. Move along......

And of course, even in his apology, he blamed the government for not giving black men more support.

Here's my answer to that, Rev. Jackson:

Government's done what it can. Government can't force young black men to keep it in their pants, or to stay away from gangs, or to stay in school.
You're supposedly a "Black Leader"! You need to take a look at your so-called "Black Culture" that you espouse, with it's 70% unmarried birth rate and the resulting "matriarchal" society. No fathers to look up to, so black youth join gangs to learn to be "men."

By following just a few simple steps, a lot of black poverty can be alleviated: graduate from high school, get a job, don't marry in your teens; don't have a baby until you're married. It's not rocket science. You tell ME why YOU think young black men are not capable of doing these simple things without government help.

Shoot 'em all; let God sort 'em out! - Marge Simpson

Oh, Jackson's feelings are

Oh, Jackson's feelings are the issue here, you do remember Obama's Father's Day speech?  He castigated Black Males for not being around after the child is born???  ehem, ehem, Jesse sowed his wild oats and has at least one kid out of wedlock...   It's clear that Jesse took great offense at Obama's point since he himself was guilty of such behavior.  That's why Jesse has such bad blood with Obama and wants to castrate him.

MB, not to defend the actions of certain males who purposely don't bother to involve themselves in their kids lives, however, we need to also include the other two parties involved: females who make money off of having children and the family law judges who are advancing the lib agenda by giving default custody to single mothers.  Poverty and degeneracy in America could be substancially reduced by removing the profit of having kids out of wedlock.  That means default custody to the male, with child support taken from the female, the exact opposite of what happens now.  You do this and all the selfish incentives are brought to an end.  Those selfish incentives range from a monthly check to treating children as pets.  A child is entitled to have loving parents, selfish ones only pass on their dysfunction.

 Jackson knows Obami is

Jackson knows Obami is relegating him to obsolescence. It grates the hell out of ol' Jesse, but there isn't a damn thing he can do about it and he knows it.

When someone with as low a character as Jesse has this happen to him he'll try to gut the hell out of whoever it is causing it. Jesse's been gutting Obami all along, he just got caught is all.

Good, let'em cut each others throats, I hope they do.

I hate to give him too much credit either way...

And maybe it's just a symptom of a suspicious nature, but I'm finding it hard to believe that someone as media-savvy as Jesse Jackson's this stupid, especially on "enemy territory" at Fox. That would mean this whole thing was staged as a "Sister Souljah moment."

The tax & spend drug war looks racist in the real world.

Yep, I had a foil cap moment, too

My thinking (admittedly, after a couple of glasses of wine) was that it was staged to "show" that "Hey, if JJ is turning against B Hussein, maybe the rest of the Black community is, too. See all you White folk, B Hussein is an a-okay guy for you to vote for."

Dark days in America

I have grown tired of 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for almost 1-1/2 years now of every news channel, every newspaper, every magazine, every talk radio station, and now entertainment programs talking about a BLACK person running for office, discussed by BLACK people concerning BLACK issues, RACISM, and on and on.

I am a WHITE person, but I don't have WHITE issues. I have concerns about BROWN people who want to blow up my country, take all of my money in exchange for their oil because I am not allowed to use my own oil, YELLOW people who are building nuclear weapons when they say they aren't, and WHITE polar bears who are being used to scare people into thinking OUR world is melting.

As far as who is next in line to get Oval Office sex parties and set up to make a hundred million dollars giving speeches to dictators, I could care less if it is the BLACK guy with a halo, the OLD guy or the SHRILL egotistical broad. None of them are qualified to govern ME and none of them give a rats a$$ about me or my country, only about their own self-importance.

LOL, Dark Days as apposed to the whiter days

In an Iranian Image, a Missile Too Many

This is pretty good.  From the NY Times even!!

As news spread across the world of Iran’s provocative missile tests, so did an image of four missiles heading skyward in unison. Unfortunately, it appeared to contain one too many missiles, a point that had not emerged before the photo appeared on the front pages of The Los Angeles Times, The Financial Times, The Chicago Tribune and several other newspapers as well as on BBC News, MSNBC, Yahoo! News, NYTimes.com and many other major news Web sites.

O'Reilly's Role

I believe I heard Bill O'Reilly state that he played only a portion of Rev. Jackson's comments from the hot mic incident. I believe he further stated that this was done in fairness to Jackson. I for one would sure like to hear the rest of Jesse's statement. If it was inflamatory or ripped Obama we all ought to hear it.

Do you think MSNBC would edit or hold back a hot mic comment made by a conservative about John McCain?

For that matter should any good reporter only give listeners or readers 1/2 the story?

→ Right CWG

O'Relly has stepped into the realm of shaping the news.

And because he makes the claim that he is withholding information, we are free to speculate on his motivation.

  • LYDSEXICS UNTIE

This also stretches out the story, for better ratings...

Think about it. You're O'Reilly, and you can put it all out there the first day & give away the whole enchilada... OR you can say you're not going to show it (ostensibly for taste reasons -- whatever!) and rely on natural human curiousity to demand the rest of the story, knowing someone who has access to the tape (if not O'Reilly himself) will eventually comply & release it after much anticipation for guaranteed higher ratings.

I think Jesse's a manipulative snake, but I obviously think O'Reilly's a manipulative snake, too. And I'll admit, I'm curious about the whole conversation in order to get the other guy's reaction to Jesse's whispers, in part because hearing the whole thing might either confirm or debunk my suspicion that this event was staged.

Interesting Theory

I remember my dad telling me about going to the movies on Saturday afternoon and seeing adventure serials. They had to go back the next Saturday to see how the hero extricated himself from the river full of alligators. Same deal with TV soap operas. Tune in tomorrow to see if Gwen is sleeping with Ed or Tom or Andy or Karen.

A real news story would be news NOW and the meat would be in the first minute of the story. None of this tease BS that O'Reilly has fashioned. To give BO the benefit of the doubt, maybe his people are checking out the same angle you are Sarc.

Caddyshack judicial philosophy

If your stomach can stand it, check out the judicial analysis on Slate from Doug Kendall and Dahlia Lithwick. The gist of the article is that Obama should stick to the liberal judicial philosophy. The article is worth reading because it betrays how incoherent the liberal philosophy really is.

  • The giveaway line: “McCain pledges that he wants to appoint only judges who would "strictly interpret the Constitution of the United States" (whatever that means).”

    • The judicial fault line falls right on this point. Conservatives argue that the only source for legal legitimacy is the consent of the governed. Any judicial ruling that isn’t grounded on what the people consented to (namely, the text of the law) is automatically illegitimate.

    • Remember John Roberts’ answer to Dick Durbin’s whiny plea for judicial compassion and empathy. Roberts replied that if the law says the big guy wins, then the big guy wins. If the law says the little guy wins, then the little guy wins. Period. A judge only has legitimacy to the extent that he follows the text, and whatever the text logically implies (not “generally hints at,” but only what follows logically).

  • Kendall and Lithwick push the liberal alternative, using an Obama quote:

“… those 5 percent of cases or 1 percent of cases where the law isn't clear." In those cases, Obama asserted, judges must rely on "his or her own perspectives, his ethics, his or her moral bearings," and thus he wants judges who are "sympathetic enough to those who are on the outside, those who are vulnerable, those who are powerless, those who can't have access to political power, and, as a consequence, can't protect themselves from being—from being dealt with sometimes unfairly, that the courts become a refuge."

It’s an unintentional howler, and laugh riot, to argue that the whole liberal judicial philosophy is designed to protect against the one percent of cases where the law isn’t clear. (Sorry – you may need a few minutes to stop laughing at the gall of that suggestion.) The reality is that liberals use this “1 percent” exception to engage in wholesale rejection of any law they don’t like. Liberals believe that the courts are where they can escape the demands of majority rule.

Can it get more shallow? Sadly, yes. Check this out:

Polls indicate that the public likes progressive judicial results: The public responds favorably to questions asking whether judges should strongly protect civil rights and civil liberties, rule for the powerless over the powerful, and ensure broad access to justice.

In other words, never mind the theory, people like liberalism because liberalism is about good things, and people like good things. So there. This is about as persuasive as Ted Knight in Caddyshack: “The most important decision you can make right now is what you stand for. Goodness... or badness.” Well, of course, I want to be … Good!

Nicely done, KC

Great analysis.

Obama, the Ted Knight of lawyers....perhaps to choose the next two Supremes.

Truly frightening.

In todays Washington Post

In todays Washington Post on page 1 in a story entitled
U.S. Troops In Iraq Face A Powerful New Weapon subtitled

Use of Rocket-Propelled Bombs Spreads

By Ernesto Londono, Washington Post Foreign Service you will note thatthe Washington Post no longer calls the Shia terrorists terrorists, instead using the Euphemism of "Militias."

The use of the weapons in question which are propane tanks packed with hundreds of pounds of explosives and powered by 107mm rockets and are often fired by remote control from the backs of trucks, sometimes in close succession against most civilian targets.  Rocket-propelled bombs have killed at least 21 people, including at least three U.S. soldiers, this year.

I posted this thought on the other thread, but I'll post here as well.

I guess this is what Obama was referring to a month or so ago when he warned his constituents to be ready for the race-based attacks against him. Oh, wait. He was accusing McCain and the big, bad white Republicans of that, not his own party.

Something tells me that Obama and CNN-MS-NBC would not have been nearly as forgiving if similar remarks had been made by ANY Republican. We'd be hearing Obama and his surrogates in the media like Donna Brazile and Matthews squawking about those racist conservatives from now till Nov.
