For general discussion and debate. Possible talking point: will Scott McClellan's book stoke another Plame investigation in Bush's final months in office:
President Bush's former spokesman, Scott McClellan, will testify before a House committee next week about whether Vice President Dick Cheney ordered him to make misleading public statements about the leaking of CIA agent Valerie Plame's identity.
Is this the Democrats' last hurrah on this issue. Will this grow into a full-blown House investigation? Will media report every second of such proceedings 24 hours a day seven days a week? Will this end up reflecting negatively on McClellan, or will he get a pass as a GOP whistleblower?

June 10, 2008 - 10:26 ET by Free ThinkerSince the day his book was released McClellan seems to have disappeared. I think this is largly because he has been discredited so much and so easily, even by msm folks like David Gregory who has been no fan of this administration. This is just a naked political stunt to play to the fringe left of the democrat party. The Plame investigation is old news - Richard Armitage was the "leaker". This could backfire on the dems as another example of wasting tax dollars and avoiding the serious issues they have created, so I don't expect the msm to let McClellan be in the news cycle much longer.

Ted Butler vindicated on silver manipulation, again.
June 10, 2008 - 10:40 ET by sarcasmoBy an open letter from lawyer Avery B. Goodman. The money quote:
...Because the amount of silver futures, allegedly “promised” for delivery far exceeds the entire world’s supply of deliverable silver, looking into this was of critical importance. As a result of the inadequate investigation by CFTC staff, we still don’t know whether there are primary stockpiles of silver covering long futures contracts, and/or what secondary stockpiles cover the puts and calls that are, in turn, alleged to “cover” these base contracts. Instead, staff issued a report that merely speculated that, “maybe”, “somewhere”, there “might” be sufficient silver to satisfy the contracts. The critical question is where? That has not been answered at all.
One cannot legitimately say that a liability is “covered” when one does not know where the commodity to “cover” is located. If dealers know how to find more silver than is known to exist, why can’t CFTC use its existing statutory authority to demand that information? The report is one of the sloppiest pieces of work I have ever seen in all the 24 years I have practiced law. ...
Smackdown. The media may be able to continue ignoring this scandal for a while because they hate the fact that others did the journalism job better, but it's a financial time bomb of dishonesty that will eventually explode. Then the CFTC will want more money.

Regardless, even if you think we should have invaded or not, this is proof that our troops aren't there to free the people, they're there as puppets to enslave the Iraqis and force them to allow the US to launch more illegal, immoral, unconstitutional, and undeclared wars on the Middle East from Iraq: http://www.counterpu...

O.K., I'll take the bait, but first of all I am not a neocon, I have always been a conservative, but I don't expect you to know what a neocon even is. Did you cut and paste as many fringe left talking points together as you possibly could find? If you are going to regurgitate these same tired, baseless, absurd comments you have to come up with some real examples, otherwise this is no fun.
So try your post again but tell us with facts how the constitution has been destroyed, why the war in Iraq is illegal, how geopolitics really work, why we have not been attacked since 9-11, how dismantling al Quada and terror supporting nations has not made us safer, maybe even something to show that the surge has not made Iraq a huge strategic victory for America. I mean just give us some fresh perspective. Life doesn't have to be so bad because this President you hate so irrationally is going to be judged so well by history. There is just no reason to get so worked up and feel guilty about living in the greatest country in the world. I think what bothered me
June 10, 2008 - 22:07 ET by Cape Conservativemost is that all Scott has to offer are his thoughts on what shoulda/coulda/woulda.
To the best of my recollection, Mr. McClellan was NOT elected to any office and therefore whatever thoughts he might have on any of the issues he addresses are as meaningless as mine would be. I find it quite arrogant of the little guy to think he has the right to second guess decisions made by those he served...especially with that extra-special 20/20 hindsight we all seem to acquire after the fact.
I guess he still hasn't figured it out - he is being used by the left bigtime and will soon be cast aside for the next dupe. And he has destroyed his credibility - NO ONE is going to want to be in the same room with him, much less have him join their company. He had better hope the book sells enough to pay for a few years of living expenses. I was saddened to read that he is simply following in his father's footsteps, who wrote a tell-all on LBJ after serving him. A man's word is his honor - and nothing can return that once it is tarnished. And Scott McClellan is - may I borrow a word from Bill Clinton - a scumbag extraordinaire!
