Sen. Ted Kennedy Rushed to Hospital

Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-Ma.) has been rushed to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston as reported by CNN minutes ago:

A well-informed Democratic source in Massachusetts said the 76-year-old senator had "symptoms of a stroke" at the Kennedy family compound in Hyannis Port.

An official with the Hyannis Fire Department said it received a 911 call from the Kennedy compound at 8:19 a.m. and transported a patient to the hospital, arriving at 8:50 a.m. The official would not be more specific.

Kennedy had surgery in October to clear his carotid artery in hopes of preventing a stroke. Colleagues said he had recovered quickly and was working energetically recently.

Our hearts and best wishes go out to the Senator and his family. Let's hope this is all precautionary, and he has a speedy recovery.

NECN video report follows:

*****Update: Boston Globe now reporting he had a seizure.

let us pray that Mr.

let us pray that Mr. Kennedy's mortal soul is saved through Christ.  Let God's will be done.

In His name, Amen

Once Again, Luck Is On His Side

Thank goodness this happened BEFORE America's health system was nationalized.

Mortal soul?

Isn't the soul immortal?

Immortal Soul

You are of course correct.  I was using the phrase "mortal soul" in terms of his soul while he is physically alive.  I am afraid that I have been on the Internet too long.  It is like LOL or :-).  These silly shortcuts almost always lose meaning.

Thank you for the correction.

turn around time

Its a good tme for self reflection. Maybe he'll come back as a Republican.

Get well...

...we meain it.

I rip him for his driving skills, but you never wish bad health on anyone.

Drill ANWAR

in all honesty

The instrument has not been yet created that would measure my indifference to this man's health problems.

»→ Get well, Teddy

And take all the time you need to recuperate.

Yes, let's not act like the

Yes, let's not act like the liberals out there and wish death and pain on those that we differ with.

Although I will say this. Ted Kennedy's car has killed more people than my guns.

Guns

Did you not serve our nation?

Yes take all the time you need for recovery

just like the other democrat senator being handfed as he sits in his depends in the nursing home.

Mearline, you are harsh.

Mearline, you are harsh.  Pray for his soul, but please don't foulspeak his decaying body.

Sweet Jesus, you are taking another prominent man from among us.  We do not question Your will, but wish you Godspeed  in your doings.  May we also wish that Mr. Kennedy is saved in your blood and flesh, oh Lord.

Amen

»→ Mearline

Who's in a nursing home?  Is Klansman Byrd still in there after his fall?

  • BHO, Oh Wait!!

I wish Ted and his family well

he lived life hard. He has a lot to carry.

Speedy recovery.

Can Mitt run for the Senate?

just sayin..

Delsa - Bless You

A silver lining in every cloud!

If Kennedy were to retire

It is up to I think the governor of Mass. to fill that seat with someone. Of course, the governor is whining crybaby leftist Deval Patrick, so to all conservatives do not hold your breath. Now when I heard about the illness, I wanted to at my own blog really let Kennedy have it. But when I got on Hot Air and saw one of the webmasters say to an effect to not do what Kos does when a Republican is ill, I got shut up right quick.

You see I am more of a hard-core conservative, not caring one iota for liberals and the left. But I guess in this case modesty forbade me.

get well

Get well Senator.

We are all aware of the terrible consequences of a serious stroke. Let's hope our opponent from accross the aisle recovers completely. And then retires.

Do we need a "25th Amendment" procedure for other officials?

It's too soon to know Kennedy's long term prognosis, nor am I wishing this on him, but this news got me thinking.  Back in the 60's the 25th Amendment was enacted.  It set a procedure for temporary or permanent removal of a president in case he was unable to discharge his duties.  Why do we only have this provision for the president?  Shouldn't there be something similar for congressmen, senators, and Supreme Court justices?  Kennedy's term expires in 2013.  What if he's medically unable to carry out his duties?  Bobby Byrd may well be in a similar state.  And there are stories of senile Supreme Court justices over the years.

Just thinking...

When you put the clowns in charge, don't be surprised when a circus breaks out.

»→ viking

We should've thought of that when that drooling old hatemonger Strom Thurmond was busy disgracing the Republican name at age 100.  Truth be told, he should never have been allowed to call himself Republican after Dixiecrat.

Thank God we didn't inherit Sheets Byrd in that hellish bargain.

  • BHO, Oh Wait!!

Term limits

Term limits on Congressmen and Senators, and perhaps on Supreme Court justices, would be some help in this regard.

When you put the clowns in charge, don't be surprised when a circus breaks out.

Actually, we do

have term limits (with the excepeion of the Court) and it is called a VOTE

If folks are stupid over and over again we just have to call it like it is. INSANITY

»→ I disagree Delsa

Once enough seniority is built up, the constituents would be stupid to turn the reins over to a new Senator rather than leave the legislation in the hands of an addled legislators handlers.

Strom Thurmond and Sheets Byrd are prime examples of handlers effectively playing "Weekend at Bernies" purely for pork.

  • OBAMA, Oh Wait!!

Cool Arrow

I hear ya.

But you have to remember we'd loose good guys way too soon.

There is no easy answer to this question.

And for sure there is no quick fix.

The only good Kennedy's a dead Kennedy ...

... what I meant was the good Kennedy's died years ago. Nevertheless, I wish the windbag no ill.

"A well-informed Democratic

"A well-informed Democratic source in Massachusetts said the 76-year-old senator had 'symptoms of a stroke'"

We've known that, but why are they just now treating it?

A matter of time

Check the update.  They're now saying he had a seizure.

Given his weight and his self-abusing lifestyle, it's a wonder it took until now for this to happen.

When you put the clowns in charge, don't be surprised when a circus breaks out.

Teddy

If he goes, may God give him the justice he deserves.

NEVER,NEVER trust a "liberal"

My first thought

is that he had an alcoholic seizure...I see it frequently in the ER.

Although Teddy is one of

Although Teddy is one of the scummiest douchebags on the planet, I do not wish him to die.

This situation does actually raise important questions:

1. If he is in very bad health, you know damn well, as long as Teddy can breathe with the aid of a machine, he will remain in office.

2. This actually hurts McCain. And those of you who think McCain is too old, this is even worse news for all the Ronulans out there. Of course, I am joking, since Ron Paul could be 100 years old and the Ben Franklin-dressing mental midgets with RP stickers on their '98 Lancers would still be drooling more than Paul does.

3. This is a good opportunity for those of us on the Conservative side of the aisle to take the high road and not turn into Hufftards.

Although Teddy is one of the scummiest douchebags on the planet,

Roger, have you been to church lately?  I think you are missing the message of God's plan.

Have you been to

Have you been to Philadelphia lately?

Lol.

Lol.

Speedy recovery senator.

Maybe this is a sign you should retire.  Of course that may mean any future waitress sandwiches with Sen. Dodd would have to be openface.

I understand

I understand that we all don't wish ill on people in general. But I certainly will not waste my prayers on someone like Ted Kennedy. He kills a young girl and uses his family money and name to get out of charges. He continually bad mouths and betrays the Armed Forces. He shows contempt for the forces of freedom in the world and embraces our enemies. He is at the forefront of stalling everything that we conservatives try to initiate. He shows reckless disregard to facts or our national interests in the Senate. He is an alcoholic who has abused his body for most of his life.

So, no. I will not pray for this fool. He doesn't believe in a higher spirit anyways.

You support the troops by supporting the mission! If you don't support the mission, have the guts to say you don't support the troops.

I agree with all you said here, the man is a corrupt old fool

..but I can't and won't bring myself to laugh or cynically enjoy someone having a stroke or seizure. That's what seperates us from the Daily Kos, Huffington Post and Bill Mahr no-class crowds. Let's keep it that way.

I hope he can recover. I wouldn't wish this on anyone, even those that I can't stand politcally or personally like this guy and some others.

think again

It doesn't matter what he believes, it's what you believe.  Pray for your enemies.  The bible says so.

Arch

I totally agree with you. He has lived a lot longer than he should have the way he abused alcohol.

I'll Say Prayers For You

Hoping Senator Kennedy and all his family are soon free from worry and that he returns to the Senate as soon as he's well and well-rested.

I'm hoping both Ted Kennedy, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama return to the senate.

  • OBAMA, Oh Wait!!

Well I DO NOT wish that he

Well I DO NOT wish that he returns to the Senate. Sure, I hope he gets back to his family (even though Mary Jo can never be reunited with hers thanks to him) but keep him out of government just as we need to keep OJ away from sharp knives.

His politics are offensive,

His politics are offensive, to say the least, but I wish him a good recovery and good health.

I hope Ted Kennedy

I hope Ted Kennedy recovers, even though I don't agree with him I still wish him well.

I agree with you.

I hope Ted Kennedy

A quick recovery

and couple that with a fast track to retirement...

I think Teddy should stay home

and let Obambi and Hillbilly return to the Senate.

maybe a good stroke will benifit him

maybe it'll loosen up all the liberal brain cells and let the conservative ones take over.

Speedy recovery there, ah, Teddy.

After all, there are still incomes to be plundered, surrender deals to be cut, taxes to be raised, and I'm pretty sure there are still a few waitresses around who have yet to get between you and Chris Dodd. :-)

Ted

As much as I despise this man and the damage he has caused to so many individuals and families of America I wouldn't wish this on anyone.  Prayers for Ted and his loved ones.

Teddy Baby!

Strom liked to stroke the younger girls.

While Teddy enjoyed an older booze.

But Bobby Byrd waved his bible and carried his cross, to rally votes, his Klansman sheet.

An Elder Statesman, Democrats say.

The past with time can hide Mary Jo, the Klan, and more.

But not for Strom, he'd be proud, a flirt forever, a dirty old man.

I don't like him....

But I don't wish him dead. Here's hoping he makes a quick and complete recovery.

Happy Trails...

Teddy

For those who want him dead, they should remember that when he goes he will become a martyr (if untimely) or an icon. His brother went from a President learning on the job, with many mistakes, to the greatest President since Washington, but better looking. As the Valachi-type guy said in the Godfather II before Congress, "Ted Kennedy did dat, Ted Kennedy did dis, yeah, and Ted Kennedy did dat!"

Despicable

That said, unlike the morons and minions of the Left who've wished death and plague (and worse) on various and sundry of their opponents, I wish no such catastrophe on Teddy.

I hope he fully recovers.

Teddy is a yardstick by which we measure the fullness of Leftist calumny.

Teddy

You're right, Harry.  While I deplore his politics and his tactics, as a good Christian, I don't wish him ill.  I know the lefties would react very differently if a conservative was in Teddy's place, but I have more self-respect and character than to stoop to their loathesome level.  So I wish the old fella well and may he have a full recovery.

Emma

Proud to be of your ilk.

You are the definitive of "us" and "them."

I'm not religious, anti-religious may be a better description but, the morality of the situation speaks of "Christian" charity.

Were there more Christians like you.

My apologies for being

My apologies for being irrational but the first natural thought that came to my mind when I heard this was the fact that Ted Kennedy chose Obama over Hilary; in other words, don't f#c@ with the Clintons or they have strange ways of hitting back.  Then I realized I was being a jerk ;-)

mm,

I am pretty confident that you are far from the only person who had that thought cross their mind today.

LOL-I had it cross mine, too.

Hey, it is, after all, the Clintons we are talking about.

The most dangerous thing

Might just add Ted's name to that list with Foster, Brown, and others...

Can you imagine anything as dangerous than to have Hillery as your Veep? Something mysterious might happen to you in a park, or a plane, who knows... But if she was Vice President his odds of finishing his term I would thing would go way down.

Devil Dog

The Ghost of Mary Joe

I have a hard time trying to act concerned for a man who would let a young woman drown and use politics to cover it up.

Then says the absurd things he does about our brave men and women in uniform unless it serves his agenda to support them.

He has that smugness that he got away with Murder, or negligent manslaughter at the very least... I don't think he really got away with anything...

God doesn't always pay on Friday, but payday is always coming!

All of the msm should be

All of the msm should be ashamed of how they handled the whole Kennedy fiasco today...it all made me sick...it was beyond contempt.

LOL-I mean, its all about priorites, ya know?

Gotta ask

Why is Fox News running almost 24 hour coverage of this socialist-democrat's health problem?

I expect this type star treatment elsewhere, but why Fox?

I wonder what Fox will do when he actually dies. Roger Ailes will do 3-4 hours or what?

This is Teddy Kennedy for goodness sakes Fox! Get a grip!

Carbon Credits Smoke'em if you got'em!

poor Teddy

Don't think about his politics or his past right now - think of his kids and family who are having to live in a hospital until he gets well enough to leave.

God we pray Your will be done. If it's not his time to go, then help him recover and maybe draw a bit closer to You.

My parents liked the Kennedy family

My parents liked the Kennedy family, I find nothing but contempt for them. I know the Good Book says to pray for your enemies, but it would take everything I have, to muster up enough strength to pray for this guy. I don't wish evil, ill will, misfortune, death, or any bad thing on any of God's children. That said, I still find it hard to pray for Ted of any other member of the Kennedy family. My heart says pray, and at the same time I know my mind is not in it.

I admit I'm no expert on the Bible and neither is anyone else. I know there are many interpretations on any parable Jesus spoke of. Yes, Jesus did say to "pray for our enemies," and I realize it's hard to do at times, but I do. And while doing so, another parable comes to my mind "give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

I will struggle to pray for Ted Kennedy, with all the controversies surrounding that family clan. Joe Sr., JFK, Bobby, Teddy, the list goes on and on. When I talk and pray to God, I pray about many things, mostly for the people starving in the world, millions of innocent babies killed through abortion, victims of terrorist, people suffering through natural disasters in Africa, China, Myanmar (Burma) etc. etc.

Sorry to sound so stone cold heartless when it comes to Teddy, he is 76, weighs 300 lbs,, has lived the fast / good life. I don't know what is truly in Ted's heart/mind, but, I don't think, nor does it seem, that he lost much sleep in the passing of Mary Jo Kopechne / Chappaquiddick incident.

There, you see, Badger

That wasn't so hard.  We both know Shamu is much heavier than 300 lbs. but you were kind enough to slim him down for your post.

  • LYDSEXICS UNTIE!

Badger

I am like you. I find it hard to pray for a famliy that has helped destroy more families in this country than any war. The Kennedys made their fortune selling illegal booze. Alcohol has ruined more families than anything esle.

I don't have anything against drinking in moderation. Ted has pushed the limit on that. My wife thinks he was actually passed out from a drunk instead of a medical condition. By the way.

I can't talk about the 300 lbs. I was chewed a good one by my doctor last week when I topped the scales at 330. I am eating so many salads I feel like I am becoming foder for cut worms.

“A debate is a conflict which clarifies a position. A dialogue is a conversation which compromises a position.” –John E. Ashbrook, The New Neutralism II, P. 7

Yea Cool Arrow

My parents always told me not to speak wrong of the ill /sick. Ted has lived a long time and as a King his whole life. I hope I make it to 76 or more.

I remember a financial book writer on O'Reilly a year or so back, who was investigating Ted's money holdings - net worth. The guy came up with a figure of 500 Mil in an off shore bank account to keep Uncle Sammy from collecting his taxes. At that moment, I remembered cruising just off shore of Martha's Vineyard on naval warships, looking through binoculars, at all the big mansions and imagining how the rich people were living large.

When I was stationed in Japan and taking college courses, the same time all the JFK movies were coming out in the early 1990's. The college teachers / professors that taught the courses, really loved the Kennedy family. I had to read many books in order to pass the courses that I had signed up for. Some books were probably true, others conspiracy theories. I was glad to have passed all the classes considering, I was in disagreement most of the time with their portrayal / love affair of the Kennedy Legacy.

I will not trash Ted Kennedy like the left did Charleston Heston. Although it does remind me of the Heston movie Will Penny, that scene, ole claude was a mighty good man all the way around. That's always the way it is, let a man die, and right away, he's good ole claude. How was he before he bucked out?

This is all I will say since Ted is probably knocking on death's door. God only knows, Ted could live to be 106.

its gonna be funny in 30

its gonna be funny in 30 years when our kids are on here complaining why people keep re-electing ted kennedy...even if it is just his brain in a pickle jar with 2 wires attached to the voting buttons

Hey ricklail

By no means am I making fun of anyone with a weight problem. As a Native American I realize what people with weight problems have to deal with. My mother struggled with her weight all her life, she died at 45. My father had his battle with the bottle. He never touched a drop of liquor until he was 27 years old, started in Vietnam, he died of alcohol poisoning at age 57. I don't suffer from weight or alcohol problems, although my doctor rips me for being 30 lbs over weight for my size frame. Dr. says no salt intake and I to have to eat salad / rabbit food all the time, due to my high blood pressure and DOT regs for truck driving.

I just don't feel apathy / empathy for the likes of rich people like Ted or Oprah, they have the best doctors, dietitians, nutritionists, personal staff, butlers, chauffeurs, fitness Phds, etc.etc......

Remember John Jr. lost at sea. Many govt. and private organizations, Air Force, Army, Marines, Navy, Coast Guard, civilians, all were searching for the plane. Do I feel sorry that he lost his life?, yes, anyone with a heart would. Fly for fun, sure, get the proper training. John Jr. should have had a private pilot until then, he had no business flying at night. Some typical poor Joe Turkey, the authorities might have sent one small search craft for a day or two. Definitely not the 1000's of people searching that he had. If that were you or I, we would have been fish food for sure.
