For general discussion and debate. Possible talking points: Finally, Pennsylvania!
Will we know anything more after this evening? Will we be anything but chronologically closer to the finish line? Will anything but a major victory by Obama get Hillary out?
On the other hand, given how close this race still is, why SHOULD Hillary get out? Is all of this talk about her needing to exit for the benefit of the Democrat Party just a function of media's love affair with Obama?
Also for consideration, our boy Tony goes to CNN. Why do you think he did this rather than possibly returning to Fox? Is this a slap at Fox and conservatives, or a good business decision for a great man in another of his many career transitions? Are you happy for him, or questioning his sanity?

Good for Tony Snow
April 22, 2008 - 09:28 ET by shawn228I think it is a great business decision. CNN is obviously losing the ratings war with FOX and they want someone else conservative except for Glen Beck.
I sure hope there will not be the backlash from conservatives, like the whole Chris Wallace thing.

SPOKANE -- Former White House Press Secretary Tony Snow has canceled a series of speaking engagements at Eastern Washington University because of illness.
Snow was supposed to make a series of appearances Tuesday at EWU. However, he was taken to the hospital to be treated for exhaustion, in consultation with his doctor, according to a source at the University.
The source said he checked into the hospital at 9:30 a.m.
Snow was diagnosed with colon cancer several years ago, and he left his position as press secretary for President Bush in September to deal with the disease. He has said the cancer is in remission.

As I said I had to go thru this last year. This type of cancer can move VERY quickly, sad to say. Luckily he's fairly young, so I hope it's just simple "exhaustion".
By the way, read this before it gets pulled-Zsa Zsa Huffington has a cretinesque article from earlier today about Tony's hiring by CNN. Obviously she hadn't heard about his going into the hospital.

April 22, 2008 - 09:33 ET by lunaticcringeradiosunday they aired a show counting down the 9 or 10 ways the earth was going to be destroyed, starting with things like a stellar gamma ray burst, asteroids, the sun going nova, super volcanoes, runaway biological plauges, but then things started to change. it started with the bio plauges, strongly hinting at manmade plauges, then it got decidedly political delving into nukes and how the us has lead the way in producing too many, then to finally cap things off global warming. yep they rolled out al gore and a bunch of socialists the sky is falling scam artists to start pushing the lie that the earth is getting so hot, even though this was all filmed and produced during the big cool off period we've been in for the last 10 years. these liars were still pushing the big lie and al gore popped up saying that the only scientists that disagree with him are being paid off to say so. at that point i couldn't stand watching anymore and i found something productive to do before i threw something at the tv.
the history channel has really lost a lot of credibility, not just because they are seaching for ufos and bigfeets, but now they are letting al gore get up there to warn us about manbearpig.

Almost as good a question as why they shot the dumb thing. Cows do all kinds of stupid stuff and some of them are downright mean. But it would have made more sense to get the owner to come get it. A dead cow is not only a waste of meat but they are hard to bury (unless you have a forklift).
My Two Cents
April 22, 2008 - 09:48 ET by KC MulvilleAs for Tony Snow, Rome wasn’t the center of Christianity until Peter and Paul went there. If conservatives want CNN to stop being such a liberal stronghold, somebody’s going to have to go there. Bill Bennett’s already there, but they only let him speak when they surround him with contradictory voices. Tony Snow is a persuasive guy, and he's worth listening to. As for CNN, let’s hope this is a sign that they can’t abandon more than half of the available audience by ignoring conservatives.
As for the Pennsylvania primary, I don’t care who wins. For a long time, I was hoping that an Obama-Clinton fight would weaken both of them. I’m not entirely convinced that’s true anymore. I mean, let’s face it, the fun is allowing the Clintons to dig up dirt on Obama, smearing him remorselessly, and we Republicans don’t have to get our hands dirty. But, to my surprise, the Clintons have been exceedingly inept in their smear machine. Remember back in December, after Obama’s pot-smoking became an issue, the Clintons hinted that they had really bad evidence on Obama – maybe affairs, maybe cocaine, maybe other stuff? Instead of making Obama weaker, it just made everyone disgusted at the Clintons. Democrats turned to Obama because they didn’t want to live under that “oppo research” mentality anymore. So instead of a fight that brings out both candidates’ weaknesses, it's become really boring, and they’re reduced to pathetic whining over debate questions. And in the process, they each get free (and ‘round the clock) airtime.
Right now, the spotlight is between the candidates, but not on any one of them directly. They can play in that shadow. I would much rather allow the spotlight to get to Obama specifically. Like Hillary, I think he’s a balloon that’s eventually going to pop. We don’t have to do any smearing. Just let the light shine, and he’ll screw it all up himself.

Latest poll/Pres rating
April 22, 2008 - 12:57 ET by PawpawNUSA TODAY says Pres Bush rating at all time low. I'm trying to figure how the numbers add up. See article: http://www.usatoday.com/printedition/news/20080422/a_pollbox22.art.htm
91% of Dims disapprove, but 66% of Repubs approve, leaving Indpents with other %. Could this be another skewed poll? I am surprised that they also state he is the Pres with the highest ever approval rating, just after 9/11-oh how quickly people forget! If you just use the percentages as numbers, then I get anywhere from 66.5% to a 68% disapproval and 33.5% down to 32% approval. Would seem they polled more Dims than Repubs again.
Some Context
April 22, 2008 - 17:37 ET by Del DolemonteThe article you cite is the result of the Gallup Poll as filtered thru the prism of USA Today. If you look at the actual Gallup press release on this poll, which is at the Gallup website, they add some interesting qualifiers:
1.Even though his job disapproval is a record high, his job approval is not at a record low.
2. Gallup said that as opposed to previous Presidents with low poll numbers, Bush's might be lower simply because he's a more "polarizing" figure as President than, say, Truman. Let's recall that even though Harry got terrible poll numbers, history has been much kinder to him than they were when he was in office.
3. Gallup polled "adults", not "registered voters" or "likely voters". They also did the poll on a weekend, which historically favors pro-Democrat talking point results.
4. They also did not detail how they weighted their polling sample. Which could very well mean it was skewed.

NB weirdness explained
April 22, 2008 - 15:25 ET by Matthew SheffieldWe had some major hittage today. Drudge linked to the Day after tomorrow story right about the same time that Rush mentioned nb.org by name.
Combined, they made our server get overwhelmed by the traffic. I had to make a static copy of the story to keep everything going here, something I don't normally do.
We may have to add a caching server to keep the hits from overwhelming everything. It's a nice problem excepting the additional expense. (Hint hint)

The proverbial cat is out of the bag. Global Warming is a lie, it is a scam, it is a crime, and it is a folly.
ANY President, ANY Senator, ANY Congressman, ANY Governor, ANY Public Official who believes, promotes, funds, negotiates, votes for, or signs legislation that endorses Global Warming as a fact, will be branded by us as either a fool or a criminal, and we will not have fools or criminals representing us in OUR government. we WILL abandon you and we will withhold our money, our voices, our pens, and our votes until you leave office or are voted out or are forced from office.
Beware the political third rail of the Global Warming LIE!

April 23, 2008 - 07:00 ET by NL207This Fox News headline is as stupid and misleading as the Climate Alarmist claptrap. The Headline speaks of a new ice age. Inside the article, Dr. Chapman, the quoted scientist said no such thing. He said that if temperatures did not soon recover, we could say goodbye to Global Warming. This is not the same as forecasting a new ice age. He also said that prevailing temperatures over the last year returned to the levels of 1930.
