Who's Trevor Immelman? "The 36-hole [Masters] leader...only four months ago was in a hospital in South African to begin a speedy recovery from a benign tumor that doctors removed from his diaphragm." Amazing.
Who's Tiger Woods? "The Grand Slam that Woods said was 'easily within reason' will have to start with the second-best comeback at Augusta National...The largest 36-hole comeback in Masters history was Jack Burke Jr. in 1956, and that required a weekend collapse by Ken Venturi, who played that year as an amateur."
Is lefty the favorite? "Phil Mickelson, who has won the green jacket two of the last four years, got enough out of his second round to post a bogey-free 68 and was three shots behind at 139."
How are the NHL playoffs treating you?
How about the NBA where the Warriors could end up winning 50 games this year and NOT make the playoffs?

Go San Jose Sharks
April 12, 2008 - 11:23 ET by shawn228With my Vancouver Canucks out, I need to cheer for the only Bay Area team that has made the playoffs this year. There might be a slim hope for the Warriors, but they need help

April 12, 2008 - 11:39 ET by forest"How are the NHL playoffs treating you?"
Pretty well. The Painguins are looking good. they have the talent and the toughness to go a long way this year.
Sidney Crosby
April 12, 2008 - 11:49 ET by shawn228......is the real deal, he truly is the second coming of Mario Lemieux, too bad Mario could not have stayed healthy to play with young Sidney longer
Tiger never said anything
April 12, 2008 - 13:12 ET by Buckeye_Paul01Tiger never said anything remotely close to 'EASILY within reach' concerning winning the slam. (not that I have seen. At least not in tone) He said he's won more than 5+ tourneys 'X' amount of times in his career and that it was definitely 'possible'..... he just needed to win the 'right 4' events.
Phil has major Karma on his side this year!! If he wins, they'll replay his Thursday good breaks over and over for all eternity. Of the guys in the top8, you have to like Phils chances best at this point in time.
We'll know a lot more when Saturday play concludes... Tigers chances aren't very good right now, but if he can shoot a good round today... LOOK OUT!!
I think it's pretty cool
April 12, 2008 - 15:00 ET by Roger the ShrubberI think it's pretty cool that Sid has been living with Mario and his family since being drafted. Sid has basically become a part of the Lemieux family.
Crosby....
April 12, 2008 - 13:07 ET by pwozis a whiny little bitch. He's not half the player Mario was.
Malkin is another story, though.. that guy is a beast.
But Ovechkin is better than both of them!
GO RANGERS!

April 12, 2008 - 14:57 ET by Roger the ShrubberUh-oh, somebody is still bitter from that beatdown Mario gave the North Stars in the '91 finals.
You do not know Sid. He has
April 12, 2008 - 14:53 ET by Roger the ShrubberYou do not know Sid. He has handled being "the next Lemieux" with more grace than you give him credit for. He is the real deal. his injury this year has allowed Malkin to blossom into the stud we always hoped he could be. The Pens have had the good fortune of having the #2 pick in 2004 (Malkin) and the #1 pick in 2005 (to get Crosby).
As for Ovechkin, he is a stud, but he is also a puck hog. He has taken 100 more shots than anybody else in the league this season. He ended up with 6 more points than Malkin, even though Malkin had double the penalty minutes, took 170 LESS shots, and scored at about a 17.5% clip (Ovechkin scored 14% of the time).
Last season, when Crosby played the full season (he missed 30 games this season), he crushed Ovechkin stat-wise.
All three are great players, but I cannot put Ovechkin above Malkin and Crosby.
They are all great
April 12, 2008 - 15:43 ET by pwozbut AO had to do it with a bunch of nobodies. It wasn't until this year where players like Backstrom, Greene, Nylander (missed most of the year), and Fedorov (new guy) stepped up.
They are all good in their own way, but I will either Russian over Cindy Crysby any day.
What else would I expect
April 12, 2008 - 17:15 ET by Roger the ShrubberWhat else would I expect from a Rangers fan?
Penguin fans have been spoiled
April 12, 2008 - 18:07 ET by shawn228You guys have had Lemieux, Jagr, Coffey Crosby etc. As a Vancouver Canuck fan, with the exception of a awesome goalie, we have not had any players that can bring fans to their feet.
He is a mini version of AO. Remember the Russian Rocket?

April 13, 2008 - 22:16 ET by shawn228Nice!! I have no comeback except for the fact he and Nasland played very well together and he is no longer part of the Canuck organization.
You, of course, are
April 14, 2008 - 14:49 ET by Roger the ShrubberYou, of course, are referring to Markus Naslund, a former #1 pick of the Penguins. He never got off the ground here, but I was glad he turned out to be a great player in Vancouver. Always liked him.
Don't see too much whining
April 12, 2008 - 17:10 ET by forestI hear that from Flyers fans alot, but I honestly haven't seen much of it. He always plays hard and doesn't talk nearly as much as some other players. If he's angry, he usually just starts carving circles around defenders until someone is wide open for shot.
I gotta admit that Mario was a pretty big whiner, but Crosby, not so much. I think the 'whiner' charges are just sour grapes.
Another good thing abou the Pens this year that they didn't have in Mario's time is a lineup that can go out and beat the snot out of any team that starts in with the dirty tactics. I'm looking forward to seeing that in the next round or two.
Still in joy...
April 12, 2008 - 13:51 ET by AgentAmericanThe week began with the Kansas Jayhawks winning the tournament, and irritating every sports writer in the country, with the exception of the writers in KC and Lawrence.
Then Bill Self proved every sports talk show host wrong by doing the right thing and staying at Kansas to coach for several years to come. Leaving Kansas would have been a huge blunder.
And now, my favorite golfer is in the hunt...Lefty needs this tournament to make himself relevant again!
Avs shouldn't have lost
April 12, 2008 - 14:50 ET by wiwfAvs shouldn't have lost that game last night, but we should win both of the home games next week against the Wild. Can't believe they scored that goal at the end of regulation, very cool!
And I like that the Nuggets control their destiny in the wildcard hunt. :)

April 12, 2008 - 23:42 ET by gfrrmanafter watching The Masters today, I'd have to say that everyone in the tournement is looking over their shoulder........ie:Tiger. He started not too good, but finished really well. They all are fearing him tomorrow. Just the nature of the beast. If I had $$, mine would be on Tiger Sunday.

April 12, 2008 - 23:53 ET by R D HelmTiger did move on "moving day," but, was it enough?
He is being way too cautious, particularly around the greens. He certainly has the talent and experience to pull it out tomorrow.
Only question is, will he?

April 13, 2008 - 00:14 ET by gfrrmanif I was a betting man....Tiger made his move late Saturday whne the wind wa low when he finished. All others had to deal with the windy conditons that followed. Sunday they all will be plsying against Tiger, NOT the course! Tiger knows this and has an advantage by tha. Whether he wins or not would be $ I can't bet on, though. :-)
