Can't happen...not won't, can't. If any one could pull off such a feat, they would handily win the nomination of one of the two major parties. It was this sort of muddy thinking, that a third party can have a viable presence in American politics, that blessed us with 8 years of Bill Clinton.
I acknowledge the ability of third party...usually independent...candidates to win localized elections. Yes, that does include Joe Lieberman, though in his case there was only one effective party before he set up his independent bid, so his made two. :o) However, in a nationwide election, it won't ever happen.

In '92 Clinton ran as a "new Democrat" who would offer tax cuts and an end to welfare. Bush 41 had betrayed the Reagan coalition that got him elected. Nothing like this is happening now.

There is disenchantment on both sides. Potentially enough to where a viable 3rd Party candidate could win. I fully realize it's a longshot, but if there were ever a time for it, it would be now.

I personally want mine to read "I have been dying to get into this place", seriously. I don't want a boring tombstone, now the trick is if my heirs will honor my wishes.
My dad died last year and he had his affairs in order finacially and he said he wanted to be cremated by a certain mortuary, but beyond that he did not specify much.
So when it cam time to decide to dispose of his rmains my brother and sister and I got together and brainstormed. My sister said he wanted his ashes dumped into the toilet, probably a variation of the Ganges Indian thing, but we decided to spend $600 on a nice urbn no one will ever see and plant him in a cemetary plot.
We did have a non traditional ceremony, no preacher and just close family. We did invite some of his longtime freinds but none showed. It was raining and dreary, like from some B horror movie, and we actually put him in teh hole provided by the cemetary and each of us placed a shovelful of dirt on him. We actually buried him which was a real kick. In fact I might have my funeral and burial like that. No fuss no muss, but i will have the obligatory cattle call by my pastor.

In addition you references to Jesus seem to leave out Jesus, the Holy Spirit and God are one in the same but in three persons. This is one of the main ideas in Christianity.

In the garden Satan provided some truth but switched to lies “you too can be like God” once he knew he had Eve hooked. And you call God a “natural born killer par excellence” when He is eternal and not born and in addition is perfect. So if He says to kill then He is right and there is no sin as you infer.
We all fall short of the glory of God and only by His grace are we saved. I don’t judge your soul, only God does. I do judge you by your words and deeds; I put them against the word of God and find them lacking. For instance we are not less sinful than any other human as one sin is enough to condemn us to death.
There is a sin-o-meter and is sold in most Christian stores. The church I go to and most Christian churches only teach you how to use it.
BTW we don’t as you say “equally short in the eyes of God” as there are different levels of falling; however, the punishment of death is the same for one sin or millions of sins.
The Muslims don’t fall any shorter, its just they are not repentant. And Jesus said to love our enemies but he also talked of justice. And he knew when to fight and when to run and when to kill the enemy. He did not want us to be stupid.
This all comes together when you understand the Bible and the Trinity and how all the elements work together. For an unbeliever like yourself it is hard because the Bible says you must have the Holy Spirit to understand.

To make a long and hideous story really short, my best friend since childhood's kid brother was a Nirvana fanatic. Cobain was his hero. He literally worshiped the guy. I once purchased the tickets so that he and a friend could go see them in concert. I even drove them to and from the show.
That seemingly innocent gesture on my part haunts me to this day.
After his hero Cobain offed himself, he went way, way off the deep end. He was once a straight A student, and one of the brightest kids I ever knew. Needless to say he is no longer with us.

Children vs Adults
February 20, 2008 - 22:27 ET by PopularTechLast I checked drug education starts early in school. If a 13-year old overdoses the only one to blame is the 13-year old. But children are different then adults and I believe more effort should be made to prevent this from happening with children through education and enforcement of anti-drug laws.

I knew by age 7 that smoking was bad for the smoker thanks to cartoons shown on television.
I knew by 8 that littering was bad citizenship based on similar commercials.
I knew by 10 that illicit drugs were bad for the person using them for kicks thanks to various television cop-dramas.
There comes a point when you simply shrug off the losses of those who CANNOT seem to learn these easily learned lessons and be resonsible for their own actions instead.

February 20, 2008 - 22:18 ET by FastEdI had worked, until recent state money cuts (a bitter sweet hurray), put me on the beach, for a Board that Certified Drug Addiction counselors - making sure the counselors were actually doing what they were supposed - and from all the folks I worked and spoke with, ANYONE can become addicted, to anything. AND, be cured, with proper counseling and plenty of work and support. Looking at PT's post, I would think that he's pretty sore that Rush got help and beat the problem. Same feeling, I suppose, for Imus. There are plenty of others, who should get an apology.

Using Drugs improperly or using illegal druge to get addicted is a choice, Rush choose to get addicted and broke the habit. Good for him, I am happy he broke the habit but if he died from it, the only one responsible would be himself.
I've never been addicted to any drug and never will. I am not some unintelligent weak minded loser.

I smile because I think it ironic, they did it to themselves. We laugh when people do stupid things to themselves but loser drug users are off limits? Please.

The "choice" you talk about, in most cases, happens to be a chemical response, and imbalance, unforseen and unpredictable. The addiction, for whatever, comes about, not necessarily as a "choice". To then denegrate addiction into a "habit", shows your total lack of knowledge concerning addictions.
Then to say you will never become addicted, is a statement that has NO basis in future fact, nor is a reasonable, or what the rest of us would consider a reasonable/rational statement, bordering on egotistical.

I honestly do not care when they die. It may sound cruel but it is true. I have no problem with drug education but hey personal responsibility and intelligence needs to take over. They made the choice to use drugs and must deal with the consequences.
I respect my mother who is an honorable, decent and intellegent woman. Comparing her to some waste of life addict is ridiculous.
