For general discussion and debate. Possible talking point: Hillary cancels television interviews:

Sen. Hillary Clinton's staff had confirmed interviews earlier today with Fox News Channel, MSNBC and CNN. They were to be conducted after the President's State of the Union address. After wrapping an interview with Sen. Obama, CNN's Anderson Cooper said, "Senator Clinton agreed to talk with us. At the last minute she canceled. Her campaign is offering no explanation."

MSNBC and FNC confirm with TVNewser that Clinton canceled her appearances on those networks as well.

Does this mean anything? Is Hillary running scared after Obama's landslide victory Saturday, followed by the Kennedy endorsement Monday?

Speaking of the Clintons...I see the Slickster is late once again for a rally in south Jersey...ahhh.who in their right mind would listen to him, let alone stand around and wait for the self-inflated arrogant legend in his own mind?

Ohhhh yeah...I know a bunch of leftists with zero for brains...

Good ol' Clintoon time....I sure don't miss it, bet the msm doesn't either.

Btw..I was not surprised by Hill cancelling her appearances last night, she knew she would be asked about the endorsement from the Kennedy clan...hehehee

In an article by Carol

In an article by Carol Rosenberg entitled Attorneys For Guantanamo Captives Back Obama's Bid

It states more than 80 attorneys who have been offering free-of-charge legal services to Guantánamo detainees issued a statement Monday supporting Democrat Barack Obama's presidential bid. ''We are at a critical point in the presidential campaign, and as lawyers who have been deeply involved in the Guantánamo litigation to preserve the important right to habeas corpus, we are writing to urge you to support Senator Obama,'' the lawyers said in an open letter dated Monday.

I assume this means that the AQ detainees are backing Obama?

clinton

She is scared. Obama has momentum right now and I believe that he will get the nomination. I was going to vote for Edwards in the primary but I do not believe he has a chance, so my vote on
Super Tuesday will go to Obama.

By the way, which of Obama's ideas do you like the best?
Better yet, name your top 3.

Better yet, name your top

Better yet, name your top 3,  I am contemplating voting for Obama if MacCain or Huck gets the nod.  My reasoning is Obie will do worse than Hill in Presidential capacity and he might really screw it up enough to where the electorate will elect a real Republican.

Btw...did anyone else hear about Edwards trying to get in as the AG in an Obama administration...I heard this somewhere yesterday on one of the networks...

Just curious...

Hadn't heard, but

Hadn't heard, but I mentioned this to my wife as a reason for Edwards to remain in the race to give him enough delegates to make a deal with someone for this or a seat on the Court (unlikely that would make it out of the Senate, though.)

Hermano... Thanks...I too

Hermano...

Thanks...I too immediately went in my mind if this even could ever possibly happen it would have to make it out of the Senate and do not think it would either... I just heard this as a bit and piece on some show while I was doing some work...it didn't surprise me...Edwards has to angle for something..

I think he is just going to be an after-thought personally.

I saw something about that

I saw something about that yesterday, but didn't follow up at the time, and haven't heard or seen anything since.

Obama

Good morning Roger,

I will not lie, I do know as much about Obama as I should. I like Universal health care, pro euthanisa and the most important thing I like about him is he can beat Hillary.

I never said I was voting for Obama in the general election, only the primary. I am a Independent, but yes I am a registered Democrat. There is a very strong chance I will vote for republican as long as it is not Romney.

Romney five years ago

I hear ya, Shawn. I

I hear ya, Shawn. I understand your predictament. I am interested in seeing who is left standing come the PA primary.

Why do you like universal

Why do you like universal healthcare?

Why should I pay for

Why should I pay for everyone in the whole universe to have health care? Some of those people I might not even like.

*****

"People only insist that a debate stop when they are afraid of what might be learned if it continues." - George Will

What bothers me is that when

What bothers me is that when people think "Universal Healthcare", they think that everyone is going to get free heathcare and they're not. What's going to happen is that folks who are paying for their insurance now will continue to pay for it, and people who don't want insurance but can afford it will be forced to buy it. Then the people who can't afford it will have the government pay for their insurance, meaning the rest of us will keep paying out insurers AND pay higher taxes to pay for the rest of the folks.

But the reality is, all the poor will get is insurance, and even Medicaid and Medicare require the payment of co-insurance, co-payments, deductibles, etc. If folks can't afford to pay for an insurance premium, how are they going to pay for all the other stuff we have to pay?

bruzilla

Before I begin, I want to say, I do not believe in:

Welfare

Affirmitive Action

Free Medical for Illegals

Even though I have American Citizenship, I grew up North of the border. I always believed since I remember thinking the USA is the greatest country in the world and I could not wait to live there. I got constantly ribbed by my Canadian friends about how bad the medical is and how easily you can lose all your money.

I have been living here in the US for about 10 yrs now and I still think it is the greatest country in the world and the rest of the planet owe us a debt of gratitude for keeping them safe, however I have seen what having no medical insurance can do to people.

I believe in personal responsiblity as much as the next person. If a person has no auto insurance and he goes out and hits soccer mom and a few passengers and ends up getting sued, there will be no pity from me.

Or a person that has no mortgage on their home decides to self insurance and forgoes homeowners insurance and his home burns down, too bad so sad.

Medical insurance is different. It is very expensive if it is not covered through your job. Some people have a choice of either putting food on the table or pay outrageous medical premiums. If you get laid off and you don't have enough money to pay COBRA and you let your policy lapse it is very dangerous. Getting cancer, ms or a serious auto accident is nobodys fault. if you need care and do not have medical insurance you can lose your house, car, savings and whatever dignity you have left. You can't even file chapter 11 anymore

Older folks that have medicare, if they have a stroke and if they are in the hospital for over 20 days. Medicare does not cover it anymore and unless you have purchased long term care insurance, and they need assisted living, they are in danger of losing their assets as well. That is why I am a fan of Universal medicare.and It would not bother me to pay more taxes for it.

Romney five years ago

I have never understood why

I have never understood why some people think they have a right to others footing the bill for them.  Particularly when it comes to things like insurance.

Each person of their own free will decides what type of career or life path they will follow.  These decisions have consequence.

I know a couple who I grew up with who decided while studying business in college it would be "unsatisfying" and that in order to "Follow their bliss" they would become experimental artists in the twin cities of Minneapolis/Saint Paul.  The art they produce is mediocre, mostly consisting of day to day objects lumped together in an effort to be provacative.

They have four year degrees in visual arts, are now living just above the poverty line, and have no insurance of any type.  They are also liberals and cannot understand why I laugh when they complain.

If they had not made the decisions they had, they would now be comfortable, or at least MORE SO than they are.  Their children, when they finally get around to having them will also be in better shape.

Does this mean I believe you should not allow some to make silly decisions in life?  No, but their MUST serve as cautionary reminders of consequences of their decisions.

BD...maybe this will provide some understanding

For anyone fortunate enough to enjoy job security with coverage by an employer-provided quality health plan, little complaint about our current system of healthcare should be expected.

Sadly, there are other scenarios imposing enormous financial costs for healthcare which are largely beyond an individual's control.

A friend's dad, because of sharp downturns in the industry, suddenly lost the merchandise lines he had sold for thirty years.  Before he could get himself re-established, the financial burdens became so oppressive that it basically became a question of cutting expenses just to put food on the table.  Consequently, he was compelled to--hopefully temporarily--discontinue health insurance in order to meet fixed financial obligations.  About a month after coverage ceased, he had a heart attack, which he survived, but which forced him and his wife to file bankruptsy and lose their home because of the colossal medical bills.

By the way, he was a conservative Republican.  And his circumstances are certainly not unique..  Medical costs are the single biggest reason for consumer bankruptsies in the United States.

Not long ago, I posted some personal details on this issue which may bear repeating:  I pay $12,000.00 per year out of my pocket for a private policy which I am now essentially locked into because of pre-existing conditions.  This policy covers me, my wife, and son.  Each year there are two inevitabilities:  My premiums are increased, and the benefits are reduced.  Prescription drug coverage has been whittled away to a point where now there is absolutely none whatsoever.  [My cholesterol drugs alone are over $200.00 a month.  To treat some keratosis (too much sun), a single tube of the preferred application was $480.00.  Fortunately, my dermatologist sold me a few samples of a related medication for $15.00 each.]  My co-pay has also been raised through the roof, and I'm trying to hang on until Medicare.

I could go on, but I hope this illustrates that there is another side to the story.

Jer

For anyone fortunate

For anyone fortunate enough to enjoy job security with coverage by an employer-provided quality health plan, little complaint about our current system of healthcare should be expected.

I believe it is a persons responsibility to get a job with the best coverage they can or desire.  Many folks simply get comfortable in marginal jobs because they do not wish to put in the hard work of gaining better positions.

Hell, we have had 4+% unemployment rates for the past several years in which, if it had a pulse, it was employed even in improved white collar jobs.

Your point that people lose coverage between jobs is accurate, however it is still their responsibility.  I have several freinds who have left the army and befreo they have gotten jobs, they got short term health insurance for major medical expenses for a six month period.  This covered them for the period right after their military coverage expired and their new job coverage started.  The one I am most familiar with cost the CPT who ordered it five hundred dollars and lasted six months and would cover everything beyond preexisting conditions, but not check - ups.

He identified his responsibility and acted.

Not long ago, I posted some personal details on this issue which may bear repeating:  I pay $12,000.00 per year out of my pocket for a private policy which I am now essentially locked into because of pre-existing conditions.

In checking my office for the various Department of the Army Civilians, the one that is closest to your case (Himself, wife, two teenage girls) is paying $160.80 per month to the Federal Employees Health Benefits program for health coverage.  A daughter has preexisting conditions.  That means he is paying $1900 per year for coverage and it is one of the reasons he has taken the job he has (His previous job paid more, but had less in the way of coverage).  He has taken the responsibility upon himself and has taken action.

He is not asking his neighbors and countrymen to fix his problem for him through a nationalized program.

BD...Thanks for the

BD...Thanks for the response.  My problem is that, at the present time, my only option is the policy I described.  Maybe, hopefully, circumstances will be different at some future time, and I want be saddled with exorbitant premiums and other costs for prescriptions, etc.  But, for now, I have no other choice.

The premiums are actually $945/mo., so it's a little under twelve grand a year.]

DO NOT SELL SNAKES SHORT

I have this totally irrational fear of snakes but that does not mean that I close my eyes as I walk by them.

Lesson: DO NOT count the Clintons out, just because the MSM has found a new empty suit hero to worship and will be doing everything they can to get Obama elected.

1. Even though Billary's campaign in S Carolina backfired, they are smart and will figure out that a dumb move may have worked to their eventual advantage.

2. Hillary, alone, IS NOT electable. I give the American public more credit than that (although they have fooled me on various ocassions).

3. Obama, alone, IS NOT electable. I also give the American public credit.

4. ANY remote chance to the contrary was diminished by the racial and left wing polarization caused by the latest fight amongst them.

Here's the deal: Both the Clintons AND the Obama people are aware of the preceding points. Someone, most probably the Clintons will broker a deal.

1. They will offer Obama the Vice Presidency.

2. Because of his age and the opportunities for him in the future (almost guaranteed if elected as VP) he will accept.

3. They will do the deal, right after Super Tuesday, regardless of the outcome because they know that standing alone: THEY CANNOT WIN. Standing together with ALL the black vote, ALL the Latino vote, ALL of Ted Kennedy's liberals back in the fold and their share of the stupid American electorate,,,THEY CANNOT BE BEATEN.

4. I wonder if they have realized all of this yet.

IF THEY DO NOT DO THIS: HELLO PRESIDENT ROMNEY and they know it now.

Pray for the democrat fight to continue to the death or this nation is just a few steps from the criminalization of Conservatism and ready for the socialism of Europe OR WORSE.

Nope. Sorry Jack, but "LOSERS" yourself.

Here's the thing, netcraft's input gives 2 different results for with and without "www" before the URL. I gave this to a geek who is (to be brutally-frank) smarter than lots of other people. Here's his reply.

note at netcraft that
these two inputs give different answers:
ronpaulforums.com 1606239
www.ronpaulforums.com 43417
note here:
http://www.yugatech.com/blog/the-internet/alexa-vs-netcraft/
that someone thinks that netcraft only uses the toolbar for
the top 100 sites. (maybe those are the only ones that have
enough date to make it meaningful). possibly they have deals
with ISP/DNS providers to give stats on DNS lookup queries for
the others, not sure how else they would do it. that might also
explain why www.x.x would be different than x.x.
alexa is smart enough to not treat www.x.x and x.x differently.
but they may also be biased toward IE on Windows users and not
normalized data (per my other link).
that said, i would probably use Alexa and Compete vs. netcraft as
at least they provide some graphs and details that show trends over
time.

Sorry to mess up your day, but Ron Paul traffic, like it or not, dominates.

That was a joke. Okay --

That was a joke. Okay -- not a great gag, but still!

You know, as if being 31000th anything was something to write home about.

As NB is my fave site it would be called self-deprecating. A trait that seems to have passed Ron Paul supporters by.

You're beginning to sound like a humorless fanatic seeing sleights and barbs everywhere. Not a good place to be in a crazy world.

au contraire

I can be self-depricating, but when Ron Paul is mocked on a site that claims to have no agenda, I get to mock-back. You're being mocked-back here. Get used to it, or get fair in the coverage of bias. Those are the 2 choices. And I'm quite sane, sorry, but that's what makes the countermocking so fun. And so damn easy.

Sorry I missed it...

Please understand. I'm dealing with a media bias site with an obvious agenda. Like the agenda-ridden media NB itself busts, NB claims to "have no agenda." Both NB's & the media's claims are so-equally-laughable that they literally drown out any and all other attempts at humor in my pre-caffeine brain at the moment.

I guess the bottom line is that mockery isn't a one-way street, and that IMO NB's traffic would improve if its fairness and balance in busting bias were to improve. The stats, despite protests here, seem to show that.

A lot of pages have gotten deleted from the Ron Paul board after LGF exposed their anti-semetic rants. Lot's of hate speech going on over there.

And, as usual, 0-proof.

Situation: normal. When it comes to He Who Must Not Be Mentioned, accusation = proof. Yeaaah right. And me a hater? Yea, I guess you could call me that if you like, no big deal. I have not called you unpatriotic for supporting the candidate of your choice. I never will.

Mr Paul was against the Patriot Act, 'introduced the American Freedom Agenda Act of 2007, which would "bar
the use of evidence obtained through torture; require that federal
intelligence gathering is conducted in accordance with the Foreign
Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA); create a mechanism for
challenging presidential signing statements; repeal the Military
Commissions Act, which, among other things, denies habeas corpus to
certain detainees; prohibit kidnapping, detentions, and torture abroad;

You try to mock Ron Paul in your own poll even as you say this, so I've quoted your message into your poll's comment area in order to mock you back (it's my role around here, countermocking all the time because actual debate is minimal due to minimal coverage of actual bias). Will my mockery of you be removed, like any questioning of NewsBusted's "humor" gets deleted -- as if that'll somehow make that lame-ass show funny? Inquiring minds want to know...

The Ron Paul Memory Hole

I'm not talking about posts, but entire threads. Like this one:

http://www.ronpaulfo...

LGF had 1218 comments about the thread. Now it's gone. There's only one kind of person who pals around with racists: another racist .

They're your buddies, not mine.

If racism's accepted

How come the thread's gone? Wouldn't racists want to celebrate it? You've proven nothing with your (probably paid) trolling from the start about racism and me. Hell, I was the one pushing Walter Williams, NOT Ron Paul, for President when Walter went and endorsed Ron. And LGF has displayed enough dishonesty regarding Paul that I hereby deem them an unreliable source, so you've failed again.

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

"It should be common sense that if individuals can speak without limit, so too can groups of individuals.
- Bradley Smith (former member of the Federal Election Commission)

SUBJECT: The FEC vs. Free Speech

A rich person, acting alone, can spend unlimited amounts to support or
oppose a candidate, without government interference. But the government
will interfere plenty if two, or more, less wealthy people cooperate to
match what the rich person spends.

Individuals who cooperate to express opinions about candidates have to
consult lawyers and accountants, file reports with the government, and
potentially face large fines. They will also be limited to
contributions of $5,000 each, while the rich person, acting alone,
bears none of these burdens, and can spend millions.

When it comes to political campaigns, one rich person has more rights than an infinite number of poor people.

The federal government has a special gang it uses to control the right
of people to cooperate to express opinions about candidates. It's
called the Federal Election Commission -- FEC for short. The FEC is
made up of exactly 3 Democrats and 3 Republicans. Its members never
face a public election. They are appointed by the President, and
approved by Congress. The FEC's partisan composition reflects its
partisan purpose.

The FEC is a cartel, designed in fact, if not necessarily with the
intent, to protect incumbents from challengers while insuring that
neither major party gains a legal advantage over the other. This is the
reason for having exactly 3 Democrats and 3 Republicans. There is no
odd-numbered vote to break ties.

The FEC serves as legislature, judge, jury, and executioner --
dictating the fate of all those who join together in cooperation to
express opinions about political candidates. The FEC recently made use
of its legislative powers to silence and control a group known as
SpeechNow.org.

SpeechNow.org was created by a group of cooperating individuals to
endorse or oppose candidates based on their positions regarding . . .
yes, you guessed it, the FEC.

SpeechNow.org accepts contributions only from individuals, not
corporations or unions. It neither contributes to parties nor
candidates, nor coordinates with them. It is totally private and
independent. And yet, the FEC has asserted -- legislated? -- that it
has the power to regulate this group. This assertion of power by the
FEC is not a final ruling, but it has already had the force of law.

SpeechNow.org has decided to submit to FEC governance in order to avoid legal penalties later. Source: Associated Press.

The FEC has effectively hobbled a critic of the FEC.

No legislation by elected representatives was required to achieve this
outcome. No due process in a court of law was needed to reach this
verdict. Instead, it was achieved by the vote of six unelected people
with a direct interest in the outcome.

There are two Constitutional problems here . . .

First, the First Amendment dictates that Congress can make no laws
"abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the
people peaceably to assemble." If Congress can't make such laws,
neither can it authorize an agency of the Executive Branch, such as the
FEC, to make them.

Second, the FEC, along with many other federal agencies, writes the
regulations they enforce. This is unconstitutional. If the First
Amendment never existed, the FEC would still have no legitimate
authority to regulate political speech. That's because regulations are
laws, and the Constitution requires that all laws be written by
Congress.

This is why DownsizeDC.org has proposed the Write the Laws Act (WTLA) . . .

WTLA would force Congress to write specific legislation, not just
general guidelines. Congress could no longer delegate to Executive
Branch agencies the power to craft detailed regulations that have the
force of law. For instance, Congress, not unelected FEC Commissioners,
would have to decide, in advance, whether campaign laws apply to
private, independent groups like SpeechNow.org.

In other words, WTLA would limit Executive branch agencies like the FEC
to investigation and prosecution. Federal agencies could no longer
write regulations, hold hearings, issue rulings against the people they
accuse, and levy penalties. Instead, they would be limited to
prosecuting cases in a real federal court.

To learn more about the Write the Laws Act, click here.

Please tell your representatives to pass the "Write the Laws Act." Tell
them that Congress, not unelected bureaucrats, should write all the
laws. Tell them that the Constitution requires the separation of
powers, and that Executive Branch agencies have no proper authority to
legislate, judge, or penalize American citizens.

Please use your personal comments to cite the case of SpeechNow.org as
a specific example of why we need the "Write the Laws Act." You can send your message here.

You have reading comprehension issues. I write plenty here, but I'll paste how, where, when, and why I feel like it, not you. Whine all you want, it's not gonna change, but if you keep proving you can't read carefully, you will keep getting mocked by me.

People do Puke

Logic would dictate that a rather old woman, sitting in a hot stuffy room for almost 2 hours, having been running her old body ragged for 3 months, worried about winning so she doesn't get indicted might just get woozy and puke up the ole lobster the people donating are paying for.

People do puke under stress and a pale, swooning Hillary does not look good on camera........nor does announcing Hillay just puked in the crapper and has bits in her hair........cause a great deal of voter appeal.

Hillary wants to loose, but not in a landslide to a "black man" of all things.

How ever could she face her patrician friends if that happened.

Overpriced.Have you notice that today when you buy potatoe chips and other items they put very little in big bags to make it seem like your getting more. For some reason that jar reminds me of that.I sure a thimble would be able to hold HRC soul also.Maybe a nitro bottle.

Thank you, Dan Quayle.

:) By the way, with potato chips, they put them in the big bags in order to protect them during shipment, at least according to Herr's Snacks.

LOL - I caught that "Quayle moment" also!!!

Rush/McCain

Has anybody been listening to the beautiful job Rush is doing to McCain?

Hi Herman...

Yeah...a very talented guy named Paul Shanklin does the parodies for Rush...the one's of McCain were stacked great for his purpose today...Rush does great imitations too.

Lord I hope he loses tonight.

Rush got him good today....at least he has 20 million listeners...he exceeded what McCain has gotten free via the msm....well kind of, in a different way.

I am praying for that, too, BT.

It never seems to amaze me that there are people out there who vote simply on name recognition. I can understand it if you are voting for the king and the queen at homecoming, but for God's sake, this is your country and your future! At least think about who you are voting for and why! OK - off my soap box now.

Caught some of it in the

Caught some of it in the car a bit ago. I was impressed with the caller who pointed out one big difference in the primaries. Sure, they are both contentious, but the Republicans are mostly debating their positions on issues; the Democrats are focused on more superficial reasons why the other candidate is less fit to be president. Which I guess is the only way they can differentiate one from the other, since they are basically the same candidate in different packaging.

Bingo, HS.

See my response to BigTimer above. Which one is the most popular? But there are a bunch on the repub side that do the same thing:(

The Dems are all the same

They have to look at personalities because they are all the same on the issues. There is basically no difference in their positions....

I've heard at least three times today on msnbc that the thinking in the msm and their headlines after the winner is announced tonight that even if Romney wins and McCain comes in second they are going to play McCain up instead and move him on towards Super Tuesday and down-play Romney....

Color Me Shocked!

Color me shocked that this is getting leaked and that they are admitting it ahead of time...

Rush said today that

Rush said today that someone had called him and said there were independents in Florida showing up to vote...they were told they couldn't unless they declared a party, so they said they were Republicans so they could vote for McCain.

Has anyone else heard anything about that?

Update: I guess I misunderstood Rush...I just found the link to the story  on Drudge..Rush must have gotten it from there.

I saw a brief report on this on Drudge

The article itself was long, the the mention on this was kind of an afterthough in one of the late paragraphs. Had the link line on Drudge not indicated it, I would never have known to look.
