"The greater reliance on air power has raised concerns from human rights groups, which say that 500-pound and 2,000-pound munitions threaten civilians, especially when dropped in residential neighborhoods where insurgents mix with the population. The military assures that the precision attacks are designed to minimize civilian casualties -- particularly as Petraeus's counterinsurgency strategy emphasizes moving more troops into local communities and winning over the Iraqi population -- but rights groups say bombings carry an especially high risk.

"The Iraqi population remains at risk of harm during these operations," said Eliane Nabaa, a spokeswoman for the U.N. Assistance Mission for Iraq. "The presence of individual combatants among a great number of civilians does not alter the civilian character of an area."

Hey Eliane, I have a good idea.  Why don't you go talk to the headchoppers and tell them about your concerns about civilian casualties and then politely ask them to move their activities to somewhere where innocents aren't put in jeopardy?

Do these people even understand what they are saying?

Reading Ann's latest column, it appears she now falls into the category of women smitten with Romney who Rush has defined as "mittens". Like all the other mittens, Ann says her in-depth analysis of Romney's stands on issues shows that he is not a flip-flopper because he has only flip-flopped on one issue: abortion. I guess that's like saying someone's a great husband for keeping a job and a roof over our heads... although the regular beatings are a bit much to take. If Ann actually did her research, how did she possibly miss Romney's flip-flop on gun control laws and the NRA? On Gay rights? On stem cell research? I don't have Ann's often glorified access to Lexis/Nexis, but even Google offers plenty of evidence of Romney's flip-flopping.

Ann also takes the mitten stance that everyone who dares to call Romney a flip-flopper must be jealous of Romney's greatness or an agent for the Democrats who are terrified of a Romney win. Please! Do all these women suffer from the political equivalent of battered-wife syndrome? Rushing to the phone or computer to bail their guy out of "jail" everytime he gets busted for flip-flopping? Your guy is getting called a flip-flopper because he's a flip-flopper!!!

I think Ann needs to get some professional help... and vote for Thompson.
