For general discussion and debate. Possible talking point: the Clintons are in trouble over some potentially racist remarks...
A series of comments from Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, her husband and her supporters are spurring a racial backlash and adding a divisive edge to the presidential primary as the candidates head south to heavily African-American South Carolina.
The comments, which ranged from the New York senator appearing to diminish the role of Martin Luther King Jr. in the civil rights movement — an aide later said she misspoke — to Bill Clinton dismissing Sen. Barack Obama’s image in the media as a “fairy tale” — generated outrage on black radio, black blogs and cable television. And now they've drawn the attention of prominent African-American politicians.
Will this be serious for Hillary's campaign, or will the media, as usual, give a Democrat a pass for racially insensitive remarks -- especially America's first "black" president?
On the other hand, is this whole "controversy" being advanced by Obama supporters -- paint the Clintons as racist in order to assist a black candidate?

Schlickmeister to Sharpton
January 12, 2008 - 11:18 ET by Tim GrahamWhen Bill Clinton goes apologizin' on Al Sharpton's radio show, you know they're worried.
Obama's younger supporters mocked the Hillary-backers in the old "civil rights gerontocracy," as William Jelani Cobb writes in the WashPost:
Tim
January 12, 2008 - 11:45 ET by Noel SheppardTim,
Really fascinating article. I especially like this conclusion:
I guess this all raises the question: is the old guard of the civil rights movement -- aka Sharpton, Jackson, et al -- scared that an Obama presidency will destroy their stranglehold over the African American community, and cut into their ability to extort from U.S. businesses and governments?
If the answer is "yes," doesn't this almost make Sharpton and Jackson akin to Yasser Arafat refusing to accept Ehud Barak's fabulous peace offer at Camp David in July 2000 as he clearly realized that the end of the Palestinian conflict wouldn't be good for him and his business?
Also, what does this say about the Clintons if the old black guard -- clearly opposed to progress on the civil rights front -- supports THEM over a black candidate? ns
Yep....It's time to end the Sharpton/Jackson grip...
January 12, 2008 - 12:20 ET by JayTeeAs Noel asks....... "is the old guard of the civil rights movement -- aka Sharpton, Jackson, et al -- scared that an Obama presidency will destroy their stranglehold over the African American community, and cut into their ability to extort from U.S. businesses and governments?"
I tried for an hour to Connect the "Fairy Tale" comment to a Black Racist insult that demanded an apology. I could not connect the Dots. Bill C. should have let that one go, and Al Sharpton should have overlooked it...UNLESS....(See Question above).
IN American, we have free Speech, and you CAN Insult a Black man that doesn't wear a Flag Pin in the Senate, You CAN affront and Insult a Mexican/American/Jew/French/Russian/Indonesian and badmouth their Stance on the war, and you CAN Shout "Fairy Tale" on Obama's latest Claim that he never ever supported Bush on the War.
This "Six" Louisiana Arrests that recently became a "Sharpton" event complete with a march, probably collected a lot of money...and we "Briefly" heard about this $$$$$'s and "Six company" showing up at a hollywood function.....Then it disappeared off the Airways..... Along with Sharptons IRS problems, they appear, and then they Fade away.....
MSM was forced to cover this!! LOL
January 12, 2008 - 11:19 ET by SouthJersey1953When I first heard Hellary giving credit to Johnson instead of MLK, I bet my wife that the MSM would ignore the story. Well, they ignored for a day or so, but after the blacks started making abig stink of it, they were forced to cover it. Poor MSM, their lady keeps stepping in it!!!
It's not Right vs. Left; it is Right vs. Wrong
Well the Jackson/Sharpton
January 12, 2008 - 12:51 ET by motherbeltWell the Jackson/Sharpton team used to sort of acknowledge that their pal made a big booboo and and needed to apologize, but always followed up with "knowing" that that person was basically "down for the struggle" so it would be forgiven. After all, where were they going to go? But now they can switch their allegience to Obama.
As for not wanting him to win, that's a possibility, but I don't think they'll go that far. If they do, they would shred the last bit of credibility they have on race issues.
And as an aside, Her Royal Clintoness blew it even worse, because it was not just LBJ, but the Republicans in Congress who forced the Civil Rights Act into law.. Democrats were the ones who opposed it.
So please, Your Clintoness, by all means, let's talk about who it took to get that passed!
And I know I'm really being cynical, but that may be why the MSM ignored the comment......
Must be tough

Media Blackout On Bad HRC News
January 12, 2008 - 12:01 ET by NoMoreClintonsThe Clinton's chief hatchet man, excuse me, an unpaid advisor to HillBilly's campaign, Sid Blumenthal, was arrested in Concord, NH for drunk driving the night before the NH primary. Gosh, the liberal media don't seem to know or care about it. Imagine if it had been Rudy's advisor, or McCain's or Fred's. There would be screaming headlines and 24 hour coverage. But, no, the media are not biased and how dare we suggest it.

January 12, 2008 - 12:13 ET by ricklailI didn't realize until I went to my account this morning that I have been here for 52 weeks and 20 hours. I hope that in some small way that I have added a little something to the mix. But over the past couple weeks I have been dishearted by a lot of post-mainly Leon's. He goes on and on with his BS diatribe. I am not for censorship but there is a limit as to what we should have to wade through to get to the real issues. I decided awhile back that I would not be replying to anything that he posted because I believe the Bible when it says not to cast you pearls before swine nor give that which is holy unto the dogs. Anyway I have said my peace.
To the staff at NB keep up the good work of keeping us informed. It means a lot to me not to have to watch the crappy network news, er mostly opinion-little news, or read the liberal papers online. I read the Charlotte Observer and the Raleigh N&O online daily so that is about all I can stomach.
If you folks think that this presidential thing is fun watching the Hildabeast and Billy Boy versus O' Bama, you need to see what is going on here in NC in the race for the democrat nomination for governor. We don't go to the polls until May to decide who will run for office in this state. The race between Lt. Gov. Beverly Purdue and State Treasure Richard Moore is going to be a doozy. (I am hoping that history stays on our side and Purdue is sent packing. We have not elected a Lt. Gov to the governership in a long time.) They are already blaming each other for the financial shape the state is in.
Therefore I am not paying a lot of attention to the national races because the nominee will be decided by the time we go to polls. By the way the Breck Boy should be ancient history by the time we vote. I hope he has taken his wife and they have crawled back under their rock in Chapel Hill.
Having been born and raised in the South I know that most Southern Dems are closet racist. Why should Bill and Hillary or even the Breck Boy for that fact be any different? The spirit of the Klan still exists in these Democrats around here. Most just tolerate the blacks while getting their votes. I wish that the blacks around here would wake up and see what is actually going on.

January 12, 2008 - 15:21 ET by ricklailI am not saying I want him to leave-just quit replying with the same BS in his orginal post. The whole thing over the incident with the Iraqis did it for me. He would not shut up when some one pointed out the soucre of his information was suspect. He went on and on with the same old tired arguement.

President?
January 12, 2008 - 12:11 ET by iveseenitallI know- I know- this is such a difficult decision. Should a black or a woman be able to raise our taxes, let millions more illegals flood into our neighborhoods and go to our schools, turn victory in Iraq into defeat, give us long lines and little service at the mandated doctor's office, let law suits rule the day, play Robin Hood with our corporations, destroy our language, and in general screw up American lives. But I must look at the bright side. Through all of this I will be just thrilled to have a minority destroy my nation. Sexism and racism will be gone forever, except for when the "liberal" media wishes to bring it up again. Oh, happy days!
NEVER,NEVER trust a "liberal"
And in addition...
January 12, 2008 - 13:15 ET by celatorIn addition to your comments, I've Seen It All, I also worry about a D as Commander in Chief of the Army, Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps. Carter and Clinton tried their very best to gut our military services and darned near succeeded. It's in their political DNA. There's no doubt in my mind Hillary and Barack have the same plan to severely weaken the Armed Services, and make us extremely vunerable to attack. Hillary will do it because she is a Fabian socialist and loaths the US military--a mindset that was forged in her days as a radical college student and her devotion to Saul Alinsky--and Barack will do it because he will be told to do so by his handlers. These two strange people are very dangerous.
As an aside, I was reading an article about her students days recently and learned something quite interesting about her insane radicalism at Wellesley College (which began as the Wellesley Female Seminary). She was one of the student leaders who fought (successfully) to drop the study of the Bible (as literature etc.) from the core curricula. She's mighty proud of that, no doubt. Why do you think she refuses to let others read her senior thesis? Because she calls for the overthrow of the United States. It's as simple as that.
Other alumnae of Wellesley include (to give you an idea of the radicalism of the place) include: Madelyn Albright (AHA! So THAT'S the connection to Hillary), the perpetually confused Diane Sawyer (yes, that Diane Sawyer).
It's difficult to get the all the puzzle pieces together, but when you do, the picture gets interesting.
Clinton Racism
January 12, 2008 - 12:09 ET by okiehawk44The Clintons are not racists. No, like others, they are not racist as long as those they say they represent (and they really believe this) allow them to speak for their interests. Like a lot of white people, the Clintons KNOW what is best for blacks. Now it is our job to just shut up and let them represent us some more. I'm good with that! What about you?
Racists....is the least problem anyone would have with Clintons
January 12, 2008 - 12:36 ET by JayTeeRepublicans have BIGGER issues with the Clintons ..... than possibly being Racists.
If a Black Rapper, Talking like he in the Hood and wearing Gold Chains around his neck, with his underwear showing outside his Pants, using 4 letter words when Talking about Terrorists.........I still would NOT VOTE for him for President, even if he promised to Cut Taxes and Win the Iraq War......would I be a Racist ?
I would be "Prejudiced" because I don't like the way he Dresses and I don't like the way he Communicates.
You can Dislike someone, and Color doesn't have anything to do with it. You can even tell the Rapper described above, he Lives in a fairy tale world, and you ain't hiring him for a Job, and you wouldn't be a Racist ...... Except in the eyes of the Politically Correct world that we live in, we would be judged as racists, FIRST and foremost.

Meet the real friends of Dr. Ron Paul.
The company Ron Paul kept
January 12, 2008 - 14:45 ET by Lame CherryI would suggest people drop by the Jeff Rense site to see the wacko things going on there about Ron Paul.
People might be surprised that Ron Paul had the New Hampshire election stolen from him.........Kucinich believes the same garbage.
These people are all anarchists as I exposed them 2 years ago. They are not into building America but tearing it down.
Devvy Kidd is another strange ranter on that site in a group that is getting quite scarey now with Paul following as he used to be quite sedate several years ago.
In the past, I have had several articles published by Rense and other of these goofy fringe sites. They did not know it was me as they were written under another name and I will not reveal how they were baited into publishing as if one knows the buttons to push on these anarchists they will run with any story, fact or lie.
The greatest problem in this is that all Jews are attacked by the Paul supporters lumping them as Jews and never equating "Jews" are made up of numbers of different sects.
The same is true in calling the death camps "extermination camps", by some Jewish sects to basically run a March of Dimes perpetual fund raiser. The camps were concentration camps which WORKED people to death and evolved lastly to experiment with gas, but the camps did not murder as many Jews as has been stated.
While the next statement has to be read CAREFULLY and not emotionally, just like certain Democrats like Al Sharpton fan the flames of "lynching" to scare blacks into the herd, there are certain "Jews" whose profit and power purpose is to scare Jews making them feel isolated, so they donate and vote in mass.
Unless one has lived among certain Talmudic Jews etc... and heard the things coming out of their mouths about other Jews and "goy", you would not believe the threats and racism coming out of their mouths.
These are the sects which Ron Paul and company highlight and then smear all Jews. They have a passion for hammering "zionists" and for those who are most of the people on this site who believe that Judeans have an absolute right to their Biblical homeland.......you are on Rense's site called "Zionist Christians".
Those people which includes myself are ranked right down there with "Jews".
My only interest is the Truth. I know Ron Paul is a disaster for the GOP and for the nation, just as much as Pat Buchanan who has great ideas has been trounced and proven wrong on Iraq.
It would be nice to discuss these issues in depth, including the reality of Dr. King as he was quite human and had flaws, but so many of these hate filled propagandists of anarchy are taking the bait certain sects put out there so "hate and vitriole" abound to herd those people back onto the kabutz or plantation as the masses are power in voting and money in donations as long as the fear factor prevails.
I do not know what happened to Ron Paul, but it is VITAL for Conservatives in this election that as Paul's supporters start looking around and seeing these thugs chasing Hannity, the racism, the anti semites etc... that they are seeing they want no part of it and feel betrayed.
To the Paul supporters, I ask Newsbusters not to gloat or run them down, but welcome them back to the Conservative Libertarian family and urge them to vote for Fred Thompson and not allow the carel to destroy the Reagan legacy in fragmenting both the Democrat and Republican parties as is now being done.
Kos is part of this anarchy and they are doing horrid things to the parties of America. I have no sympathy for the Democrats, but at the same time it is vital for America that our system remains 2 parties and we do not have a Venezuela system of scores of people running as that is when you get a Chavez who works for the globalists.
Bloomberg and Gore are waiting in the wings as spoilers. Bill Clinton was horrid, but at least there were those fake blue dogs keeping him on course as much as Newt did. America needs 2 parties and needs to stop the anarchy of the Ron Paul's and Dennis Kucinich's.
These people like David Duke take some truth and mix it with 70 percent lies and feed it to uninformed people who buy products sponsoring Rense etc... Their key to success, money and elections is anarchy.
Both parties must welcome back those deceived when they figure out how goofy the people are they were following and they had no interest in American virtue, but only in their money and power games.
No gloating.........with charity toward all and malice toward none.
Let us like Lincoln lived and died by example bring our United Sovereign States back together as a people working on building a virtuous nation again.
God bless America.

Clinton's taking a dive
January 12, 2008 - 14:10 ET by Lame CherryI posted on this a few weeks ago that Hillary was taking a dive. I posted this past week that Bill and Hillary were slapping blacks around so they will loose the southern states and mid states with "honor". I also said blacks were "hearing" something the MSM was not and yesterday that erupted.
It is pure insanity to bash blacks who were already voting by a clear enough margin for Hillary. The only reason to do it is to loose an election in key states as Hillary will win others like Michigan etc... and probably California.
Drudge has New York now perhaps up for grabs which is another New Hampshire 'talk down the numbers' tactic the cartel pulled.
I believe Hillary honestly thought by crying she would loose votes now, but instead it fired up the nags to vote for her. I had first thought they forced Bill Richardson out of the race so votes would go to her, but Richardson's voters I believe will now break for Obama and a margin to Edwards.
The Clinton's are trying to loose this thing so the blackmail of their fraud does not end up in court, along with the public boink tapes just waiting to unload sometime around July this year.
Bill nor Hillary is this stupid. This is deliberate and the only plausible explanation is they are trying to loose this in a face saving gesture. It is why they floated the story of her getting out.
The problem is the New Hampshire racists screwed things up........of course it is making Hillary sweat which is quite fun in watching them trying to loose and failing at that with racist liberals.

Fred getting Rock Star treatment...
January 12, 2008 - 15:17 ET by Clear thinkerWow! Now I know why Fred was waiting for SC to make his move.
Last night in Mt. Pleasant SC at a restaurant called Sticky Fingers, Fred had to cut short his speech because the Fire Marshall said they had waay too many people in the building. So Fred could stay on the good side of the law, Fred and his campaign decided to go outside and relieve some of the over crowding. But when he got to the front door to leave he saw another huge crowd standing in the parking lot, so he did the only thing possible. He happily waded into the crowd and was received by the people as if he were a Rock Star. I see the big mo now working in Fred's favor and I for one could not be happier.

After Bill being the "first black president", a term for which Maya Angelou should have been kicked all the way up her butt, how many blacks were in his cabinet? NONE that's how many. After all that talk about "empowering" minorities blah, blah , blah, how many did Clinton, "empower"? NONE that's how many. Talk is cheap and that's all these people have been doing for years. And people too stupid to pick up a friggin' newspaper have been buying it! Carl McCall anyone? He's the black pol that was promised, I think, 500,000 from the DNC, which promptly reneged after talking to Clinton and reading ONE poll where the guy was down. Then of course there was the battle to install Terry THE PUNK McAuiliffe (sic?) to lead while telling the black guy who marched with KING, that his time, "would come later". These lying liberal turds make me wanna throw up, ESPECIALLY when they act like they give a fart about blacks.
