This should be good...
January 6, 2008 - 19:57 ET by Clear thinkerFunny how Fox seems to be against Fred, yet they are using the exact same forum set-up that Fred suggested to them weeks ago. Fred looks like he's still leading, if you get my drift?
Rush Limbaugh stated that of the top 5 Republicans running for the presidency, only one was a true conservative. http://www.fred08.com/
I'm With Fred !
January 6, 2008 - 20:02 ET by Free StinkerI have no doubt as to Fred being the most conservative.
Exhibit A - The MSM lying about him dropping out after Iowa if he finishes 5th.
Exhibit B - The MSM distorting his comment about a dislike of campaigning into a loss of desire to be President
I would go on, but you should get the point. Why are they putting this much effort into smearig the guy who came in 3rd in Iowa?
Newsbusters. Log on and find out What the heck is so yummy over here!
Fred is the most federalist; Romney is the most Conservative
January 6, 2008 - 20:52 ET by Daniel BakerI was pretty sure backing the federal marriage amendment was necessary to be a conservative.

January 6, 2008 - 20:02 ET by DaBirdYet another debate. Aye carumba!
Let's just get it over with and start a new reality show, Big Brother; Presidential Candidates Edition. We'll just lock them all in a house for a year with the cameras rolling. Watch the hilarity ensue.
Watch the HILLAR-ITY ensue.
January 6, 2008 - 20:10 ET by CarlosSLocked in a house for a year..., I know who'd be the only one to come out alive..., and unscathed..., we could watch the HILLAR-ITY ensue.

"The Simpsons" Episode Tonight
January 6, 2008 - 21:43 ET by Del DolemonteFor you folks in our time zones to the west, be sure to catch tonight's new "Simpsons" episode. It's a classic.
Springfield decides to move their Primary a week ahead of New Hampshire's, and hilarity ensues. Guest voice by Dan Rather, and cameos with non-real voices by Zsa Zsa Huffington, Fred Thompson, Bill Clinton, and a cast of thousands. It's one of the best episodes they've done in many a year.

Format
January 6, 2008 - 21:57 ET by rdw1961I do like this format. Professional and very reasonable.
Is it just me....
January 6, 2008 - 22:52 ET by Clear thinkerChris Wallace sold this forum by saying he was going to ask the tough questions, can somebodey tell me which ones were tough.
I thought it was pretty much the same old questions getting the same old responses.
Anyway, here's my take on the forum for what it's worth...
Mike and Mitt lost this debate. Nobody really won it. Four of the candidates spent lot's of time patting themselves on the back. Fred, thankfully did not. Mitt had some black haircoloring added to his hair since the debate last night, and he may have spent 20 minutes in a tanning bed today, or he had the best make-up person.
In closing, the format was boring, the questions not new, and the whole exercise may have been a waste of time.

Pathetic
January 6, 2008 - 23:00 ET by well99It was a waste of electricity.Obama last night claimed the Dems were reponsible for the surge sucess and no one brought up it was the troops in Anbar not some (We can lose) Dems that were responsible for the turnaround.Alls the candidates did was regurgitate the same old stuff.Border security.Give me a break. They want to put up a fence? There is a law signed by the president and it isnt being implemented. So why would another fence matter? The same thing would happen. It would be undermined by Dems and some Republicans and it wouldnt be worth the paper it was written on.The uninsured.Did any bring up about that there was uninsured during Clinton? They would drather fight with each other than bring up facts about the Dems.Maybe they are afraid of the Dems. They sure act it.Newsflash the Dems are not afraid of them and they will use any lie that is handy.
It’s a hard call for me.
January 6, 2008 - 23:15 ET by USA4freedomIt’s a hard call for me. Mitt got a lot of face time, made some points against Mike. I think that Mike and Rudy lost the most ground. I think that Fred held his own, he needs to move his hands when he speaks. McCain seemed on top of his game for the most part. (I still can't forgive McCain/Feingold or immigration.)
I still pull for Fred for the most part with maybe Mitt my second choice. It seemed like Fred and Rudy did not get much time. Maybe that was just my perception.
Mitt made Mike look bad about the taxes in Ark. He kept trying to duck but Mitt kept pulling him back to the numbers.

McCain cannot be trusted
January 6, 2008 - 23:38 ET by pocomocoUSA4,
McCain speaks in platitudes, and offers little substance.
He claims to have done much in all the time he has been in the Senate which qualifies him to be president, but all he could come up with is getting rid of Rumsfeld and the anti-Constitution McCain/Feingold bill.
Ho Hum!
January 6, 2008 - 23:15 ET by pocomocoCt,
I thought Romney clearly took the forum.
As to the rest of your evaluation about the forum itself, you were right on.
Same questions, same answers.
Wallace could have played a tape of his questions, and each candidate could have played a tape of their answers.
Nothing new here, old news, move along!
Off topic, no open thread
January 6, 2008 - 23:38 ET by BlazerOff topic, no open thread so I decided to just put it here. Anyone hear the one about Hillary having to truck in her support now? Sad.

Something curious about McCain...
January 7, 2008 - 00:07 ET by Clear thinkerMcCain stated that he knew how to get Bin Laden.
This just got me to thinking.... why is he keeping it a secret. I mean is he sharing his 'I know how to get Bin Laden' with anyone in our government, like the president???
Personally I think he's full of s***.
And when is someone going to call him on the surge? All McCain ever said was "we need more troops on the ground", is that a plan? Patraeus is the one who came up with the surge. Yet McCain keeps wanting to take credit for it.

Boring
January 7, 2008 - 00:41 ET by Jerry MackI have watched all the debates and find John McCain almost as boring as Liberman. Have not trusted him since it took him 2 weeks too say definantly that he would not be his good friend John Kerrys' running mate.
If McCain "knows how to get Bin Laden"
January 7, 2008 - 11:04 ET by RJI agree, Clear...has he told anyone in our military and political leadership? If not, it's pretty damned selfish and unpatriotic of him.
Fred Thompson wins on points
January 7, 2008 - 01:48 ET by Lame CherryThey boys did a great mix up but I wonder why Newsbusters is not posting the kooky Hillary Clinton statements.
Dame Hillary has now called Musharraf a TERRORIST, today she called Putin A MAN WITHOUT A SOUL.
She is tossing this campaign and taking a dive as you can not have a president dealing with leaders after calling them all murderers.

January 7, 2008 - 02:18 ET by BlazerLC those are soundbytes directly intended by her to appeal to and embrace the far-left kookfringe, her only hope now.The only thing keeping nukes from whizzing out of Pakistan for the time being is Musharref.
The one thing the press isn't reporting on in all of thier Bhutto worship, is that the Bhutto family wasn't exactly good for Pakistan. They employed plenty of thug's, had political adversaries killed and basically helped themselves to Pakistan's treasurey, stealing billion's, that's right billion's...with a b.
I agree as far as Putin goes, she shouldn't have dissed her fellow communist like that.
Dosvedonya Hillary.

Mitt the winner
January 7, 2008 - 07:44 ET by Cool ArrowI thought Bishop Romney won the debate last night but Fred seemed more Presidential.
I ♣ My Seal
Didn't watch them.
January 7, 2008 - 08:43 ET by StephCAfter the Iowa debate I swore off these assinine schoolyard brawls and am just as sick of the focus groups. If people like those in the focus groups are the decision makers for our next president, this country deserves what it gets. I hope that's not the case but if it is... like I said in the previous sentence.
The only ones who win these debates are the media for making everyone look like trained seals performing on command for a fish treat. "That's right, do a flip flop here. Here's a fish for you."... "We need to see more teeth, now."... "Smack each other around a bit, now.We don't want people to think we're soft."... "Another fish for you."
If the "seals" perform well on command, they get rewarded with a media lovefest. If they don't do as told, they get punished with bad rumors, insults, and outright lies that get more press than they do.
