I have one, to watch less
December 31, 2007 - 11:47 ET by taterI have one, to watch less news...and I work at a tv station (though I'm not a journalist but a weatherman). I've already started to do it and along with other things it's amazing how much happier through the day you feel.

December 31, 2007 - 12:13 ET by Chris Normantater,
I resolved to do (and did) the same thing last year. I may no longer be a walking repository of every last news story (local and national - I was a news junkie), but I still get the important news - and my stress level is lower, I'm more optimistic, and I sleep better at night. Besides, I prefer to function based on reality, not on the virtual reality of the world as spoon fed by the media.

December 31, 2007 - 12:59 ET by drillanwr*DITTO* guys ... Unplug Big Brother!
BTW, my NBs friends, as per usual for the last few years, the Sci-Fi Channel is running their "Twilight Zone" Marathon all day today and tomorrow ...
Remember, yunz guys, it's a freaking cook book!
What better example for "reporting" than Bhutto's reporting..
December 31, 2007 - 16:27 ET by JayTeeIn the MSM's Zeal to be the FIRST on the block to report BAD NEWS we are still confused on Bhutto's method of demise. The Truth in Pakistan is too hard to find, but the news media will report the lies in the meantime. Don't Campaign in an Open Convertable in a Pakistan Election year.
Seems no news is good unless there is a "Video" to be had. If it happens in the Dark, the MSM isn't interested, they need Video to televise.......as Osama seems to accomodate his MSM supporters....Remember the Sniper terror video of the American Soldier ?
Why do the MSM put so much faith in Video's ? Has the MSM lost the ability to word Smith the news ? Are Liberals so stupid they need Visual aids to understand complex issues ? Are talking heads to remain a permanent sub picture insert to the Video being shown ?
Even without a Video, as in the Minnesota Bridge collaspe, the MSM near you immediately went out and Video'd any bridge they drove over coming into work, as an example of the Rare Tragedy lurking behind the San Francisco Tiger Cage. I would be more worried as a San Franciso'an to learn my Police Chief was named "Heather" than I would being attacked by a tiger.........but the MSMS Tiger story continues ad nauseum.

I suppose thinking this makes me a "Libtalker" but
December 31, 2007 - 19:10 ET by sarcasmoI don't for one moment believe Pakistan's dictator when it comes to Bhutto's death. I know it sounds nutty, but after looking at the film, I suspect a bullet rather than a sunroof-knob to the head did Benazir in...Further, a lie this blatant makes me suspect direct dictator-involvement in the killing, as I disagree with the various Fox talking heads claiming the dictator had nothing to gain by staying in sole power instead of sharing it. Not too convincing, boys...

Shut up about global warming
December 31, 2007 - 11:52 ET by AJSHOPEWith today's snow (8-10 inches) here in the MA/NH area, this December is now the snowiest December ever recorded for both MA and NH and we are getting another 6 inches of snow tomorrow.

December 31, 2007 - 11:55 ET by tater...we got another inch of snow last night and haven't seen anything but white on the ground since the beginning of December. The Karl Rove weather machine is really working overtime.
Do you realize how much it costs to run for office? More than any honest man could afford. -Montgomery Burns
Same here
December 31, 2007 - 12:01 ET by AJSHOPEI saw a little tiny bit of grass yesterday for the first time this December. It was a little bit of a thaw and then bam... another 10 inches last night into this morning.
I'm from Ohio (just in NH on business) so I wasn't sure if this was normal or not (although I'm used to it since I went to Syracuse University), but one of the guys in the office said that he was getting tired of all the snow and that he heard on the radio that today's snow made it the snowiest December on record.
Brr
January 1, 2008 - 01:58 ET by nkviking75Most of the snow has been passing to the south and north of me, although we have plenty. However, our low Wed. morning is predicted to be 5 to 10 below. That's air temperature, not wind chill. Global warming my frostbitten tushie.
When you put the clowns in charge, don't be surprised when a circus breaks out.
And I'm freezing my butt off in Korea
January 1, 2008 - 06:29 ET by GrannyGrump42It's bitter cold here in Bucheon, South Korea, as well. It's been below 10 degrees Farenheit for days on end now. Where is this global warming when you need it? Maybe we could use AlGore's hot air to warm our homes.

drop the buckets
December 31, 2007 - 11:59 ET by OklahomaIsShapedFunnyAlthough the deltoids are looking nice and ripped... I think the local news affiliate people should drop the buckets that they are carrying for the national news media and the democrat party.
On my local CBS channel's news I get the tragic house fire, the traffic, the mayor's plans to raise money for a new stadium and then some BS out-of-place story about WATERBOARDING!!???!!
You are not my "trusted local news" person if you are part of the parade of grunts feeding me the stock crap from the MSM.
I realize the paycheck thing... but it's a fantasy topic, right?
The media and blogs should resolve to not have enmity
December 31, 2007 - 12:12 ET by Daniel BakerSo much of their commentary shows their disagreements have become hatred for others opposing their viewpoint.
It just speaks of the elitist pride that rules them. Unfortunately a lot of the conserva blogs have the same problem.
Now it seems some of the canidates are getting caught up in it calling others "dishonest", "phony" "pigs."
I am not perfect, and I sometimes get caught up in it too. So it is my resolution as well

December 31, 2007 - 12:16 ET by pwozI hope everyone has a happy and safe New Year :)
I am quitting smoking in 2008.. only been a few years, but that's a few years too much.. I decided it was something I have to do.
I will not, however, complain about smoke any time I visit one of the 3 states that haven't banned it in bars and restaurants!
No time like the present
December 31, 2007 - 12:46 ET by HermanoI never make New Year's Resolutions. I believe if you are intent on doing something, there is no time like then to start doing or not doing it.
this is my first
December 31, 2007 - 12:57 ET by pwozThis is my first New Years' Resolution.. I guess my problem was because I never planned anything, I never did it.. just the way my brain works I guess.. but I know what you mean, why couldn't I just do it now? I need that ritual 'last smoke' or something.. I'm weird.
I'm usually the same
December 31, 2007 - 13:00 ET by taterI'm usually the same way...I started running because I wanted to the beginning of December instead of waiting a month. I made an effort to quit using cuss words the middle of this year. I started to be nicer to people and not be as angry probably around October. I only make some resolutions because the new year is here now.

One thing I think is
December 31, 2007 - 13:32 ET by Dan The Man 2One thing I think is interesting about the assassination of Bhutto and the subsequent rise of power in that party. The successor is in the Bhutto family. Now all this crap about Bhutto bringing “democracy” to Pakistan and it seems like the family business. I haven’t seen anything in any of the alphabets bringing out this curious fact, so much for democracy.
In fact this seems more of a monarch line than anything else. Oh there is an election but the candidates are not necessarily the peoples choice, which is probably why Bhutto bought the farm.
It seems like Islam is destined to be lorded over by strong monarchs bordering on despots or despotic rulers themselves.

December 31, 2007 - 14:18 ET by Ruths husband BenMy new years resolution for 2008 (and I hope that of the entire country) is to ensure that this dear, brave, lady (Hillary) never has to risk her life again for a Whitehouse trip!

Top 10 Liberal Resolutions
December 31, 2007 - 14:02 ET by Lame CherryIf these top 10 resolutions for liberals would make the world a much better place, if they would only follow them:
1. Marco Kos comes with me on an extended hunting and fishing trip in Montana where he can flush the liberal pollutants from his thoughts.
2. David Letterman gets married after taking Christian pre wedding counsel to give his child a complete home.
3. Barak Obama sells all he has and give it to the poor where he then volunteers to work for the Salvation Army.
4. John Edwards joins Barak Obama.
5. Chris Matthews volunteers to be a sheep herder next to Yellowstone National Park and if he looses one lamb or ewe from all those wonderful grizzlies, wolves, coyotes, eagles, cold, rain, snow, blizzards, ice...........he can never go back to his MSNBC job, so he can learn what real people live like and understand why people hunt and trap.
6. Bill, Hillary and Chelsea take a vow of silence and instead read the Bible.
7. Rosie O joins the vow of silence and actually follows Biblical teaching instead of looking in the Bible to try and find ways to be a lez.
8. The View hires a Conservative gentleman so the show will make sense.
9. Keeter Olberman can only open his mouth if he says something good about a person..........the silence will be deafening.
10. All the people who said President Bush was wrong about Iraq can apologize and be quiet for the next 8 years.

Any Michigan Fans here?
December 31, 2007 - 16:04 ET by BlondeWow...this is a little bit of trash talking that Michigan's players ought to think about a bit. My Gators will make him pay for this arrogance:
Michigan linebacker Shawn Crable might want to rethink comments he made Saturday about Tim Tebow. According to the Detroit Free Press, Crable said, "I think y'all are too concerned with this Tebow, I mean, he's just a quarterback. He's got some freakish stats because they use him differently, they use him in the red zone a lot to run the ball. But he's nothing more exceptional than we've ever played against.
"If you ask me about [Oregon's] Dennis Dixon or you ask me about [former Texas quarterback] Vince Young, I'd be like, now those are some freakish people. You ask me about this guy, he's just a quarterback."
That ought to be worth two touchdowns, at least.
David Gregory, do you know which damn network you lie for? ~ Uncle Jimbo, @Blackfive
I dislike Michigan because I'm a Buckeye fan
December 31, 2007 - 16:19 ET by AJSHOPEBut you have to admit that Dixon and Young are in a class of their own, they have some major speed and a certain X factor about them. I mean without those 2 guys, the teams went downhill. Florida lost 3 games WITH Tebow.
Now yes, I agree that Crable is a moron for saying it out loud and giving Florida bb material, but it is the truth.
Well, If you're a Buckeye
December 31, 2007 - 16:30 ET by BlondeYou're not exactly unbiased. Sorry, coudn't help that one.
Having said that though, Tebow only played in very limited situation in our National Championship season. It was rather effective against OSU, yes?
Timmy Tebow started for the first time this year. With a team that graduated only 5 starting seniors. Very young.
I'd disagree with you, too about "class of their own". Tim Tebow is THE class of is own...his style of play has already redefined the game.
Stay tuned tomorrow...it ought to be fun.
And good luck to your team, although natch I'm going to be cheering for the SEC team.
David Gregory, do you know which damn network you lie for? ~ Uncle Jimbo, @Blackfive
If you think Florida is young, what do you consider OSU?
December 31, 2007 - 16:38 ET by AJSHOPEWe were expecting to lose AT LEAST 3 games this year. Our starting quarterback, star WRs, and a big chunk of our O-line went to the NFL (not just graduated, but went to the NFL).
Buckeye fans weren't expecting to see a B10 championship, let alone a trip to the National Championship. If history continues to repeat itself, then OSU will win the NC because everyone thinks LSU is going to win. We'll see I guess.
AJ
December 31, 2007 - 16:44 ET by BlondeI love it when the game is "decided" before the teams ever hit the field.
Like Bobby Stoops' first big dance....against the dreaded Noles. Like last year, come to think of it.
That's why I love college football (only pro game I watched this year was the Pats the other nite). As I said, best of luck.
David Gregory, do you know which damn network you lie for? ~ Uncle Jimbo, @Blackfive
Well, it's been that way
December 31, 2007 - 16:50 ET by AJSHOPEWell, it's been that way pretty much every game since the BCS started (save a few). I mean OSU/Miami, Texas/USC, last year... whatever team gets hyped the most, seems to be the team that loses (at least in the Championship game).

Resolutions
December 31, 2007 - 22:15 ET by ChaitealoverI don't do New Year's resolutions, I prefer to make necessary changes whenever the need for change becomes apparent [no matter how often I need to make the same change :-) ]
For instance, a few weeks ago I decided to only read those articles here that were about actual bias [defined as an MSM comment that comes from liberal thinking] and stop reading those articles that were about hate-filled commentary [defined as Rosie, Olberman, BDS, the harpies on "The View," etc]. My frame of mind has improved considerably.
Happy New Year, everyone

Focus on our real enemy
January 1, 2008 - 00:24 ET by Parker1227I resolve for the News Media and the Entertainment industry that:
1. They will stop making excuses for and under-reporting (denying) the insane bigotry and violence which defines much of Islam. Thousands of Imams in countries throughout world are teaching bigotry, hate and violence against Jews, the Great Satan (us), and the West - to MILLIONS of young impressionable Muslims. This is premeditated warfare. And the Leftist media shrugs and produces yet another hate piece about the dreaded neo-cons or the dangerous Christian fundamentalists.
2. They will stop enabling the cult of nature worship and Green fanaticism and push for true energy independence from fascist Islam by allowing the safe and regulated extraction of gas and oil in our own country where ever it may exist, and to catch up with the rest of the West in nuclear power production, and to get serious about fusion energy development.
Happy New Year all!
January 1, 2008 - 00:49 ET by DontFeedTheTrollsI will be enjoying a glass (or two) of Wild Turkey Rye Whiskey in a few minutes and will walk outside to see the big city fireworks from afar. Have a great new year and many more everyone!
