December 16, 2007 - 00:23 ET by candanceMy first impression of Mike was that he seemed pretty good, but the ugly truth is slowly coming out. As much as I'd love to vote for an evangelical, it's weird - voting for a stronger leader would actually do more to protect Christian interest. Does that make sense?
I remain undecided as to whom I support. Hunter would be cool, but he doesn't have a chance this year. So for now I'm biding my time.
He is a Pro-Life Liberal
December 16, 2007 - 00:51 ET by PopularTechMike Huckabee is simply a Pro-Life Liberal nothing more. None of the GOP candidates have said anything to attack Christian interests. They all respect everyone's individual religious views and personal freedoms so this need to elect the most radical evangelical no matter how socialist his governing was is scary.

December 16, 2007 - 02:51 ET by Cool ArrowIt's just that your zeal for one candidate has you scouring the net for even the most ludicrous of accusations against the front runner.
Now that it has been determined you believe it takes $3,350 to replace a hard drive, and that you willingly accept anything as long as it's in print and fits your preconception, you've done a pretty good job of marginalizing yourself all by yourself.
In other posts I've been honest enough to back down and even apologize when I've been wrong, but you present numbers and then hide behind the source when you've obviously failed to even casually assess its veracity.
Never mind, even with my ignorant 5th grade education I can do the math.
I ♣ My Seal
Nope, you did NOT answer
December 16, 2007 - 02:55 ET by sarcasmoThe question wasn't about the reporter's math which was apparently obtained from the next governor who had to replace the destroyed taxpayer property, it was about whether Huckabee owes Arkansas taxpayers for the equipment (doesn't matter what kind, YOU not I specified hard drives here) he had destroyed.
If the stuff was worth $0.35 or $350.00 instead of $350,000.00 my question remains UNanswered, like it or not, until someone answers it. Trying to change the subject to the reporter's math or to me ain't workin'!! Answer the question for the first time, please. Does TaxHikeMike, or doesn't he, owe the money???

This destruction of taxpayer property has nothing to do with me paying my food bills, and nothing to do with the manufactured-here conflict over numbers. You, like "CA" (I'd thought you'd spell it out) haven't answered
December 16, 2007 - 04:07 ET by sarcasmoMy question is rather simple, too. Does TaxHikeMike owe the money (numbers are irrelevant) for the stuff he destroyed, or does he not. Your eating analogy is not relevant. The question is about a politician who destroyed taxpayer property. Period.
It's directed at Republicans who have rightly complained about Democrats doing the same thing. I'm trying, desperately, to hold you people to ONE STANDARD. It's not about me, it's not about Ron Paul, it's about that ONE standard you don't seem to want to think about in TaxHikeMike's case. Why??

December 16, 2007 - 04:18 ET by sarcasmoI do not give a crap who you support. Supporting a candidate doesn't invalidate sarcasmo's ONE STANDARD rule one bit, because it's not about personalities, it's about criminality.
The unanswered question remains. Does TaxHikeMike owe the taxpayers of Arkansas money for their property he deliberately destroyed, or doesn't he? I've seen straighter answers from lefty-boards WRT taxation than I've seen on this issue tonight. The spin & desperate attempts at evasion are amazing, considering the simplicity of my question...

December 16, 2007 - 04:27 ET by tracheostomyHold up man, what if I don't really care because (a.) it's not my state to worry about, and (b.) he's not getting the nomination anyway? And yeah, my support is relevant because you can't accuse me of a double standard without it.
Has a precedent been set where a departing governor has to foot the bill for. . .anything? Are you saying there's hypocrisy afoot whenever a conservative tosses, "there ought to be a law" around?
Is there a law against elected leaders destroying govt. property? That's what I want to know. Have there been any previous suits filed to support it one way or the other?
So I think you're jumping the gun on the process here, Sarc. You're building a gallows before the judge has even had his morning cup of coffee.
-PJ
"Trake: Your lofty convictions are another blemish on the rump of congregational sectarianism." -Tumbler 5/15/07
The precedent
December 16, 2007 - 04:34 ET by sarcasmoWas apparently NOT to destroy taxpayer property.
I have no idea who will get the nomination, and I'm honest enough to admit that, but this guy's dangerously-ahead despite his socialistic views & questionable ethics. I would assume it's against Arkansas law for government officials to destroy government property. I know for a fact that I've seen Republicans bitch about it when Democrats destroyed government property, down to taking the "W" keys on computers which were left otherwise intact. That's what this is about -- one standard, one still-unanswered question. Asking a simple question isn't "building a gallows," it's asking a question. The fact that nobody will answer it honestly speaks volumes, and I think all of you know that...

The articles alone make Huck look bad enough, why do you have to rub our noses in it? I haven't seen any real Huckabee supporters here (sigs etc.), have you? And even then, they're obviously not as vocal as you Paul supporters anyway. What are you so scared of?

December 16, 2007 - 04:49 ET by sarcasmoVarious holier-than-thou types here and elsewhere. Do you actually think there's NOT any law against destroying public property in Arkansas??? IANAL, but I seriously-doubt that.
And yes, you do need your noses rubbed in it if you can't admit the truth, as in this case. Occasionally, that's my role around here, and I can take-on the left as well as the right when it is. As for being vocal, it's needed when confronted with both lies and media bias. And if Huckabee is all that popular and these polls are all that accurate, than I wonder WHY you and I haven't seen any "real" Huckabee supporters? December 16, 2007 - 04:25 ET by sarcasmoThe DOD, which has national security data to protect, tends to crush hard drives even though wipe software exists. They're extra careful, they have a budget for that kind of thing, and it's not really my main point, because state governors don't have the same security needs (it's assumed they're not criminals as governors) and therefore don't get to be as anal about data-destruction as the DOD.
Nor is AGW my point. I'm focused like a laser on whether TaxHikeMike owes money for the equipment he destroyed. The more-often I ask it, the less-likely it looks I'll ever get a "John Wayne" type of straight answer from the evasion-force here, but it's fun to watch 'em squirm, hem, and haw...

Crushing is absolutely unnecessary
December 16, 2007 - 05:03 ET by PopularTechDOD defense sanitizing is to SOFTWARE wipe 3 passes. You will find other recommendations from 4-35 passes. After 3 no one is getting the data.
Yes Huckabee is a computer illiterate if he thinks it is necessary to crush the drives. The only way he could get that passed is if everyone working with him was also computer illiterate.
I don't even know where those costs come from, talk about a scam you should be able to buy 100 HDs in bulk for less than $5000.

December 16, 2007 - 05:06 ET by Cool Arrowsarc zeroed in on the article, not because it's true, but because it is a hit piece on Huckabee.
"Opinion polls consistently show that only about 5 percent of blacks have sensible political opinions" - Ron Paul
If you think the article's false.
December 16, 2007 - 05:11 ET by sarcasmoProve it. So far, you have not even come close. The article said, "...soon after taking office, incoming governor Mike Beebe had to allocate $335,000 from his operating fund to buy new hard drives and computers to replace those crushed..."
The fact that it reveals information TaxHikeMike's fans may not like doesn't prove it's "a hit piece." And your changed signature file is proof you're desperately trying to change the subject, but it ain't workin' because you know you're lying (see below).

sorry sarc
December 16, 2007 - 05:20 ET by Cool ArrowInasmuch as the links you provide are packed with obviously overly inflated figures, I have no more wish to follow them.
You pulled bullsh*t off the net and now you're questioning somebody else's queries? If you and the State of Arkansas pay $3350 per computer, I can only wish I had the concession on those little transactions.
"Opinion polls consistently show that only about 5 percent of blacks have sensible political opinions" - Ron Paul
The question was never about numbers.
December 16, 2007 - 05:30 ET by sarcasmoAnd you're still lying (again, see below).
If you think Arkansas Times reporter David Koon (link contains his contact info, so I'm emailing him this URL) got it wrong or somehow wrote a "hit piece," then try to prove it. I don't think you can. And I don't doubt the concession on Arkansas or any state's computers is sweet, but it's totally irrelevant, like much of the other flack you're tossing into this.

Don't care sarc
December 16, 2007 - 05:43 ET by Cool ArrowYou went rooting through the net for garbage and found it.
You made a fool out of yourself rather than concede the numbers you threw out were laughable. Nothing unpredictable about that.
You know, for a guy who so tenaciously defends the honor of his own candidate, you sure are cavalier with slinging mud at others.
Looks like you have your own issues with hypocritical bias.
Don't bother with a retraction or an apology. I couldn't care less

You have yet to prove this guy's numbers are "garbage"
