Bozell Pans 'Who Wants to Marry a U.S. Citizen' Reality Show

  • Bookmark and Share

Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly interviewed Media Research Center president and NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell on the December 3 "America's Newsroom" program about a reality dating show in the works in which the contestants are immigrants (some potentially in the U.S. illegally) seeking to gain permanent resident status by marrying a U.S. citizen.

The program is styled "Who Wants to Marry a U.S. Citizen?"

Video (2:50): Real (2.08 MB) or Windows (1.74 MB), plus MP3 audio (1.29 MB).

Bozell slammed the program as offensive regardless of one's politics with regard to immigration and border security:

...it makes a mockery out of that which is so profoundly important to Americans which is their citizenship..... Forget the [immigration] debate, [the illegal immigration issue] ought not to be made a subject of a game show. But when you see the raging debate taking place with so much passion on both sides of the aisle, both sides of the aisle should be furious that somebody would make a mockery of it.

Just who is writing crappy

Just who is writing crappy shows like this?

Oh that's right SCABS!

"There are two types of people in this country; those who provide freedom and those who enjoy it." MM says...

IIRC

"Reality" shows like this use an insidious combination of the contestants' innate stupidity & lots of edited footage as a substitute for hiring any writers.

I plan NOT to watch. It's almost annoying enough to make me curious about what companies are sponsors for this crap.

T.V.

Almost everything on televsion is offensive to guys like me (and millions of other Americans). It appeals to the lowest common denominators in our society. With such potential to raise us up, television, controlled by ignorant, immature "liberals", fails in its responsiblity to America's future.

NEVER,NEVER trust a "liberal"

NEVER,NEVER trust a "liberal"

This is just more "pushing

This is just more "pushing the envelope" thinking...I thought "wife swap...meet your new mommy" was the bottom of the barrel.

It's all about more of "Who wants to.....(whatevr they can dream up)?"

I'm only surprised that on "the Bachelor" they don't have a "sex competition" where he has sex with all of them and rates them. Or do they???? I don't watch it. Wouldn't surprise me.

All you have to do is watch a few minutes of Jerry Springer et al to see that there is no limit to how people will humiliate themselves to be on TV.

What do we expect from a culture in which a show like "Fear Factor" is popular?

I repeat myself but....this is why my TV, more often than not, is on the Food Network.

Good Choice

Good choice MB on the Food Network. It's that or the Military Channel.

"sex competition"

This reminds me of the year (late '70s, IIRC) my Dad predicted the emergence of "Baby Alive," only Dad called it by a more-accurate name: "Baby Take-A-Crap." In literally less than 6 months, the toy was on the shelves. Many of these predictions have a way of coming true...

Same here. When the TV is

Same here. When the TV is on, it's Food Network 90% of the time in my house. Otherwise it's either Mythbusters or Man vs. Wild on Discovery. My household tops out at around 6 hours of TV a week...there are just too many more important and worthwhile things for me to be doing than watching the crap that is broadcast over the airwaves.

MSM is a Spitzer "Out of Tune" with Americans Clone

This will go over in American like a Lead Terrorist, A Spitzer lesson unlearned by the MSM....They're trying to change our minds, it's the Agenda item turnaround America attempt.

Besides, I think it's Illegal to marry solely to obtain American Citizenship.

Maybe they will Cancel it before it starts........or maybe we'll find out how many Illegals are in America from the count of people trying to Apply. .........

I hope theh MSM can Speak Spanish, or they will have to descriminate for English only, or translate for the Participants who can't speak English.

These guys are Idiots.

I think it's Illegal to

I think it's Illegal to marry solely to obtain American Citizenship.

I think you're right. But of course it will be spun as "Love at first sight" (or at least in the 12 weeks the season runs).

Yeah, 'cause laws don't

Yeah, 'cause laws don't count when it's love. Right?

Bozell is wrong

One can look at all those homely Dutch, German, French and English brides who tagged along with American soldiers..........if you watched NFL football last night you saw an NFL star who is a product of the United States presence in Korea, just like Playboy centerfold Angela Melini is a product of American soldiers from Vietnam's war.

Right now Russian brides have been curtailed in marrying American men by LAW, because American feminists were pissed off the castration knife was being thwarted when American men chose women who actually liked men, liked being mothers, liked being housewives and liked marriage.
I have personal experience with Russian women in their stories which run in mass this:

Russian women grow up poor, basically get raped by Russian males and impregnated to be forced into marriage. They then get used for sex as slaves while Igor gets drunk every day, beats the hell out of them and then abandons the family to fend for themselves.

There is a reason women across the globe want to marry their way in here. Latino women are no different with many high profile children filling the American ranks.

Poor taste is not the problem in this which Mr. Bozell should be exposing. The attacks on American males by this horrid feminist unculture is what should be exposed.
Women taking jobs is what put black men off the work roles and into prisons. Right now blacks are gettings blitzed by Mexicans and Russians.

There are numbers of these marry an American children in America..........I would caution though that when American women marry these exotic males of the 3rd World horror stories soon erupt as soon American women find out what reality is when just like Russian women their husbands start beating the hell out of them, but instead of abandonment they take the kids back to the 3rd World to never be seen again.

So all of this would be a wonderful lesson for America. American men would get wives who actually appreciate them because they know what their males were like..........and American feminists being treated like 3rd World women would teach them the reality of life that for the most part American men are gentlemen.

Let the entire discussion on this begin.

Run it

They should run the show. It will raise Americans' awareness of this very popular scam. Maybe, just maybe, the public will demand a stop to sham marriages.

Remember when...?

I remember when 'Married: with Children' qualified for network trash TV. Kinda makes you miss the good old days, eh?

By the way, I want to marry a U.S. citizen! In fact, I already did. So did my wife.

For many years, I've thought the most harmful phrase on TV is

"pushing the envelope"....something the left typically sees as a positive.

RJ

It's a harmful phrase in other mediums, too... and in general, in a lot of respects. But certainly TV, yeah...

People equate it with being "more creative". Daring = More/Better Creativity, to them.

Dana Perino and Newsbusters gals* will look great in Shywear!

(*shirts for guys, too)

Right. I always think "test

Right. I always think "test pilot" stuff. Pushing the envelope of an aircraft or spacecraft to find the limit they can take the craft without crossing the threshold to mechanical, physiological, or design failure.

So when we hear of writers or whomever promoting controversial programming as "pushing the envelope" of "creativity" I look at it as something not always positive...but rather destructive.
