Nobody from Hillary's camp left a tip. Funny, these days I actually ENJOY leaving a nice tip with a certain message...I never forget, and I certainly wouldn't forget if something were "on the house." Which could partially-explain the happy blue line. :) Hope everyone's having a good day, too!

Sarc I think its funny that

Sarc I think its funny that Hilalry left no tip.  I guess they thought it was government work and they were exempt.  Even when I have a coupon I tip on what the meal would have been full price.  Of course if teh service was lousy I have been known to leave 2 cents.  We could all adopt the European model of not tipping at all.

Nuke em til they glow then shoot em in the dark.

It fits in exactly...

With a news story I recall but have repeatedly-failed to find (pre-internet story, but I swear I remember it). The journalist interviewed prostitutes who'd serviced both the Republican & Democrat conventions. The results weren't exactly a shocker, for me, anyway.

Republicans ("family values!!!!!") wanted weird, kinky stuff I can't mention in a family-friendly forum, but at least they paid the girls well. Democrats ("man of the people!!!!") never wanted to pay full-price for sex, and were constantly trying to get away with paying-less or not-paying. Most politicians are exactly what they say they're not. And if anyone ever runs across the story (which IMO should be done-again -- the girls were both honest and funny!) please let me know.

Another good idea the media won't-use IMO is to sneak into both conventions and work as a child care worker (babysitter) and then write about how the kids of different candidates' supporters tend to behave. Or misbehave. I had this idea in 1993 at the Libertarian Party convention, because I was so favorably-impressed with the minds of the kids there.

funny - reminds me of an ethical test mistakenly posted to me at work:

Harry Ried is in Iraq on a "fact finding mission." He's out in a dangerous part of town and suddenly the tour group is attacked and Harry is trapped out in the crossfire.

You are one of several typical, heroic US soldiers charged with security of the group. But Ried's incessant America/military-bashing (along with his general tendancy towards corruption and graft) has soured your personal opinion of the guy considerably.

Never-the-less you are a US soldier - highly ethical - you always do the right thing. So what do you do? These are your ethical options:

A. Leave Ried to die in the terrorist crossfire?

B. Lob a grenade towards him to make sure the job is done right?

C. Open fire on him along with the terrorists because they're pretty bad shots?

D. Call in a massive airstrike on his position so there's absolutely no body left for "honorable" burial?

You mean the false dichotomy of choosing the lessor of two evils?

Or choice F. let the terrorists have their way since Reid in the first place denied the existance of al Qaeda in Iraq and declared we failed/lost, so why not leave him to his fate?

Interesting question, is it ethical to bail out those like Reid from the consequences of their advocated position when it has a negative outcome?  Is it ethical for a soldier to risk his own life for a person who put his life in danger in the place place by practically siding with the enemy by helping them with their PR?  If I were an officer, I could not ethically order any soldier in my command to risk his life to save Reid's.

The MSM picked it up and ran with it, and Romney went right along with them. AP- 23 illegals arrested at airport using fake security badges

"The investigation identifies a vulnerability that could compromise national security, while bringing criminal charges against individuals who built an illegal work force into their business practice," Brown
said. ...

...Much of the investigation centered on the airport security badges issued by the Department of Aviation, said U.S. Attorney Patrick J. Fitzgerald. Agents found that 110 of the 134 badges issued to Ideal Staffing workers did not match the individuals who carried them, he said.

The discrepancies were first noted in March by a U.S. Customs and Border Protection inspector, Fitzgerald said.

"If we are to ensure public safety, we must know who has access to the secure areas of airports," Fitzgerald said. "A fundamental component of airport safety is preventing the use of false identification badges, and punishing those who commit or enable such violations." ...

JPFO ALERT: THE JEWS OF IWO JIMA
Let us remember Veteran's Day on the 11th but also as we do so, be
aware of the need to be broad in our acceptance of all faiths and
ethnicities within our fighting forces. February this year 2007
marked the 62nd anniversary of the beginning of the battle for Iwo
Jima, in which some 1,500 Marines were Jewish.
After the battle was over, Rabbi Gittelsohn who was awarded three
service ribbons, was asked to deliver a memorial sermon by his
friend the Division Chaplain. The majority of Christian Chaplains
were however against this, objecting to a Rabbi preaching over
predominantly Christian graves. Gittelsohn, not wishing to
embarass his friend decided to not preach then after all.
He did however deliver his now famous eulogy to a modest audience
of about 70 attendees, including three protestant chaplains who
boycotted their own service in opposition to bigotry. On this
Veteran's day we ask you to go and view the page in this link -
http://www.jewsingreen.com/home/weblog/comments/the_jews_of_iwo_jima
/ - and enjoy the stirring words which are as relevant now as they
were then.

The company that I work for

The company that I work for has a large veteran population, and our Diversity council hosts a veterans network where we can work together as vets to help in the community, help the troops, etc. I joined this group right after I was employed, but resigned just a few months later after I learned that our annual Veterans Day observance was going to be to honor hispanic vets. In my opinion, a vet is a vet, regardless of whether he's white, black, hispanic, etc., and singling any group out violated the spirit of commaraderie that vets have. We all served together, we all fought together, and we should all be honored and remembered together and not based on what religion we are or our ethnicity.

I put my 1st Cav decal on the back of wife's car. She has gone crazy. She has all kind of Marine Corps stickers there now. She even bought a US Marine tag. I told her I didn't feel right driving around proclaiming to be a Marine.

You know why I like the Marines over the Navy? They have bigger balls. If my daughters send us pictures after this weekend's Marine ball I'll post them.

Blackwater

WP- Blackwater cleared

U.S. officials were "overwhelmingly convinced" that the Blackwater guards acted appropriately, based on information they had provided, according to the diplomatic security official. He spoke on condition of anonymity because a joint U.S.-Iraqi commission is investigating private security matters, including previous Blackwater shootings. Shortly after the Feb. 7 incident, the official said, the U.S. Embassy briefed an Iraqi government official and invited him to discuss the matter further, but the embassy never heard from him again.

Under State Department rules for the use of force, security contractors are authorized to use deadly force only if there is no safe alternative and the guards or the people they are protecting face "imminent and grave danger." The Blackwater guards said they came under fire from the building and responded, the security official said.

"The embassy conducted a review of the circumstances surrounding the whole shooting incident and essentially what happened is, after going over all the reports, interviewing all the personnel that were involved in it, talking with people that were coming back in the motorcade, they concluded that the actions of the security team fell within the approved rules," the official said.

"To say Blackwater was the only source of information for this investigation is completely false," the security official added. U.S. officials declined to say who else was contacted as part of the probe or to provide any details about the assertions of Blackwater guards that they came under fire. ...

This is a five page article, the remainder of which is spent criticizing Blackwater.

Brad Crawford, manager of the Maid Rite, said that a tip was left and a bill was paid.

"If the money didn't get dispersed properly, that happens sometimes," Crawford said. "Hillary didn't lay it on the counter."...

Next time care about her and leave a tip.

Border Fence

To date, there have been 270 miles of pedestrian and vehicle fencing constructed along the Southwest border, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said in a Tuesday briefing to reporters about progress being made to secure the border.

By the end of 2008 Chertoff said he expects to have 670 miles of border barriers erected, as long as Congress continues to appropriate money for construction.

Will wonders never cease????  2007 has not been a good year for lib Dems.

And the best part is this, A twofer:  here's a poke in the eye to the econuts!

Since border fence construction began, DHS has been challenged by environmental groups, like Lawyers for Defending Wildlife and the Sierra Club, that claim barriers hurt wildlife and wetlands. Chertoff has used waiver authority granted to him by Congress to trumps local environmental laws in order to install fences in Arizona and California.

Hanlon's Razor: Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity. dscott's corollary: The line between malice and stupidity is called depraved indifference.

Funding quietly removed from Border Fence

Last night on Lou Dobbs there was a segment about a DemocRAT committee that has just, BEHIND CLOSED DOORS, removed 3 Billion dollars from the approved funding for the Border Fence.

It has been taken from a bill that was passed 95 to 1.

So far, I've seen nothing about this elsewhere in the media.   Anyone see anything?

RJ...

If this is true, this should be made a HUGE STORY!

Dems weak on security, AGAIN!!!!!!

Not only did they remove the money from the fence, CT,

but, according to Dobbs, they left in ALL the pork-barrel earmarks, including money for a golf course.
