Liberal bloggers this week have once again given credence to those who complain that bloggers lack credibility, attacking Michelle Bachmann over routine congressional floor actions.
Bachmann, who was holding the floor for the Republicans Monday afternoon, delayed a vote on a bill recognizing Hawaii’s 50th anniversary of statehood due to lack of quorum.
Apparently Bachmann’s delay for an evening vote proves she is an “Obama birther,” someone who believes that Obama was born in Kenya. After all, as Chris Steller of the Soros-funded Minnesota Independent said, “It’s hard to interpret Bachmann’s maneuver as anything other than her first foray into birtherism.”
Or it could have been because, as Salon reported, “The House had already decided to postpone the votes on all of the resolutions being considered under a suspension of the rules until Monday evening.”
Chris Steller half-heartedly added an update his story noting Salon’s article and Bachmann’s support of the bill that passed unanimously, but most of the other sites promoting the story didn’t.
Think Progress, run by the also-Soros-funded Center for American Progress, posted a video of Bachmann calling for a later vote, that was reposted on most of the other blogs, as evidence that she was against the measure. Think Progress still haven’t updated their post with her vote.
Huffington Post’s Sam Stein notes her vote but still says she “blocked” the vote. Huffington Post also reposted a piece by Donny Shaw of the Sunlight Foundation that hasn’t been corrected. Shaw linked to the Salon post in his own article but didn’t update the context. Wonkette didn’t correct themselves at all.
Chris Steller previously wrote an article on July 22 speculating that Bachmann believed in Obama birtherism based on the fact that Bachmann has never denied believing in birtherism. (Sounds like he should be a birther.) David Weigel of a Minnesota Independent sister site, Washington Independent, has made it his job to write about birtherism.
David Freddoso at the Washington Examiner enlightens the liberals on the simple reason that non-controversial votes with unanimous support are delayed until the end of the day:
Such resolutions are introduced during the day, when the House chamber is nearly empty. Rather than let such symbolic resolutions pass unnoticed in a mid-day voice vote, the House frequently postpones proceedings for a roll call vote later on, when members are actually present on the floor. In the afternoon or evening, members save valuable time by taking up to 10 or 15 roll call votes in a row, usually right before going home.

The left will always be
July 30, 2009 - 21:58 ET by bigtimerThe left will always be after Bachmann, they did their best to destroy her starting with Matthews and the leftist msm kept it up until the election.....she beat them at their own game, and millions of us helped her...and will again.
She is one of my favorite gals in congress, which I have mentioned forever here, along with Marsha Blackburn who does have questions and wants to see his COLB...as I do.
I love the left....they do whatever it takes to win...no matter what.
Btw...all Blackburn is asking for is what we all want in the future.

An interesting thing about conservatives..
July 30, 2009 - 22:00 ET by shawn228They love Cheneys comments about how incompetent the Obama administraton is, but they don't seem to want to criticize his postion on gay marriage.
They love to take many of Ann Coulters statements as gospel, but don't want to criticize her position on the birthers
I don't know about Bachman, but there are many people on this site who want to make the excuse of not acknowledging Obama is their President because he is not born in the USA. There are many things I did not like about President Bush, but not once did I not acknowledge him as my President.

July 30, 2009 - 22:51 ET by RR GOPHad we been brainwashed for a century by the ultra-Conservatives we would all think alike like the Liberals do. For better or for worse we just don't have that kind of intellectual cohesion drilled into us. We are truly indpendent thinkers, though I am often disappointed that so many conservatives out there still buy into the nonsensical PC garbage and lies fed to us. Many conservatives have yet to wake up.
I think a fundamental idea of conservatism is that we do indeed think freely and differently on various issues. It is both a strength and a weakness. We strive to be fair and really want the best for all people-we just don't believe we should have to carry those who want to buck the system on our backs thus reducing their self worth and their humanity, just so we can feel good about ourselves. We are willing to help and to share-but we don't like being ordered to do so or have what we've worked for stolen from us.
I think that some of the conservative talking heads want to be taken seriously by the gargantuan media that would otherwise swallow them whole. They need to wise up to the fact that they're hated anyway. Disagree with even one Libtard premise and you are despised. Many of us conservatives are either unwilling to or haven't figured out how to take the battle to the Communists as they have done to us.
Our passion for law and order and for the respect of rule of law is also being used against us. It's a flaw that the Leftist Radicals don't have to deal with.

I really didn't care about
July 30, 2009 - 23:39 ET by MazziI really didn't care about the birth certificate UNTIL it became obvious that Obama was trying to hide it. Now I want to see it, and I find it hard to imagine that any thinking person doesn't.
It's not like we are asking for his bank account information. The way I see it, WE are his employers, and as all employers do, we have the right to demand proof of eligibility to work.
I can understand him not going through the process to get the "real" one initially - it's a pain in the butt. But he could do it now with the snap of his finger. Instead, he has spent more time, and insane amounts of money blocking it.
Either he is so stubborn that he is a danger to our country, or he is hiding something. Whatever he is hiding must be serious to warrant as much effort as he has expended. And, frankly, I am disappointed that "our" leaders are willing to just ignore it and scoff at the people who have a legitimate question.

1. What is there to
July 31, 2009 - 00:13 ET by ckc12271. What is there to criticize? Agree with him or not, he actually gave the right answer. And last time I checked, he's not trying to nationalize the marriage industry, forcing tax payers to fund a new gay marriage entitlement program where people are required to get married to a gay person if not married to a straight person on the date the bill is signed. We should be so lucky to have Obama be as reserved in his opinions.
2. Why would Conservatives criticize Coulter on this? Most of us likely agree with her on this issue. Personally, I don't doubt his eligibility, but it makes no sense to how he has reacted. I'm curious why. No more, no less. And when did being a birther become a Conservative thing? A Dem started it, and a Dem is pushing it the most.
3. Really? How many, five, maybe six? Maybe you haven't, but I'm sure we've had at least that many libs come here and say Bush wasn't their president, and who KNOWS how many said it at those freak shows known as liberal blogs.
shawn228...
July 31, 2009 - 00:37 ET by DJEddle"They love Cheneys comments...her position on the birthers"
That's because many conservatives are able to look at things on an individual basis instead of lumping everything together in a packaged deal. Kind of like liberals do when they decide that either you're with us on everything, or you're an idiot, a racist, and a fascist. Cheney may be right about one thing and wrong about something else. Same for Coulter.
In any case, the Obama administration is still incompetent.
"I don't know about Bachmann...not born in the USA."
I don't acknowledge him as our president, but not because he wasn't born in the USA - he may very well have been born in Hawaii. (If he was, he ought to be perfectly fine with releasing his COLB. But that is irrelevant.) He is not our president because his father was a British citizen at the time of his birth, thereby disqualifying him from ever legitimately holding the office since he cannot be a "natural born citizen."
Obama is in fact a fraud, usurper, impostor, fake, charlatan, or whatever other synonym you can think of. No further documentation is needed or will change that status.
So, what derisive name would you give to somebody who holds that position?
Rational Liberty: Where Reason and Government Collide - The best website ever!
So This Is Some Sort Of Cospiracy Orchestrated By George Soros?
July 30, 2009 - 22:50 ET by The7SticksI admit that Rep. Bachmann is usually wrong on everything, but she's certainly no "birther". I read the stuff she writes on Townhall, and unfortunately for her admirerers, she's blathering about not participating in the census because she believes ACORN is in control of it or some sort of nonsense. She's just plain wrong on that. The census is not going to be hijacked by some mythical maniacal conspiracy bent on taking over the country. The media also blew it by trying to associate the birther non-issue with her, even though she provides her own goldmine of gaffes that would more than make up for their coverage.
So in conclusion, Rep. Bachmann blew it with her nonsense about ACORN controlling the census, but the media blew it by trying to manipulate the truth about her association with birthers. I'm not even sure if she has any association with them in the first place. If worse comes to worse, she'll just have to clarify her position clearly and coherently.
And I have a hard time beliving this is another Soros conspiracy. As I've said, he's a liberal billionaire who spends his money on his causes, which isn't any different than any other billionaire who spends money pusuiting their own causes.
