File this one under Liberal Guilt Syndrome.
In the second hour of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe”, correspondent Savannah Guthrie gave a live report on the upcoming G-20 summit from London. This was a fairly straightforward report, hitting on issues that the major parties were interested in hammering out – the French want more financial regulation, for example. And then, at the very end of the report, Mika Brzezinski threw a hanging curveball. Guthrie did not disappoint:
MIKA BRZEZINSKI,“Morning Joe” co-host: What are you hearing in terms of who the Europeans blame for this financial mess and is there any blame being put on the United States?SAVANNAH GUTHRIE, MSNBC correspondent: Absolutely. I don't think there's any question that here in Europe and in other places around the world, people place the blame squarely on the shoulders of the United States. And in ways, this G-20 summit which, in years past, was just kind of a meet and greet and a photo op has a lot of importance. In some ways, capitalism itself is on trial, people will really be looking at hard at some of the free market principles that have really governed the day up till now. I don't think we're going see some huge sea change but you know, people are taking a hard look at how we got here and a lot of people do blame this American-style capitalism, lax regulation and the pursuit of money above all things with moral responsibility sort of shoved to the side. And I think we're going to hear a lot of those themes in the coming days.
BRZEZINSKI: All right. Savannah Guthrie, thank you very much. Great report.
For those of you keeping score at home, let’s break this down in slow motion. The economic collapse is the fault of capitalism as a system, and thus, not the fault of individuals who over-leveraged their capital – or, for that matter, individuals who overextended their financial capability by buying overpriced homes.
The normally-meaningless G-20 summit is now important because it has now become Nuremberg for capitalism itself. Scratch that. American-style capitalism – the European version is perfectly fine, because it pays attention to the moral responsibility of the successful to subsidize the unsuccessful individual’s lack of success.
Of course, although the real issue lies with the fault of the few who tarnished the success of many an honest businessman, We the Press will rouse a populist lynch mob to destroy the career of every American capitalist pig.
The Ronald Reagan quip rings all too true for the mainstream media: “We have so many people who can't see a fat man standing beside a thin one without coming to the conclusion that the fat man got that way by taking advantage of the thin one.”

Talk about experience.

"ABSOLUTELY" = there is no debate = vapidness
followed by:
"I don't think." = narcisism (who cares what you think)
followed by:
"there is ANY question" again no debate.
Sounds like an overamped valley girl trying to be important.

This financial "crisis" was caused by government interference in places it has no business being.
And nothing good for us is going to come out of this G-20 Summit, either.

This coup has gone on long enough. The time to put it down is NOW.

I saw this this morning and wondered if it would land here. When Guthrie said that my mouth dropped open.
What other country does more for humanity than the US? Who is the first to offer aid to any country in need? Who do these countries turn to in there time of need?
Yes, thats right. The good ole unmoral US of A.
I did think of that...
March 31, 2009 - 13:44 ET by Mike SargentBut I still think the bigger issue with that statement is this: One person is not morally responsible to make money for another person - especially when the successful person has to limit their success in order to make the unsuccessful feel better about being unsuccessful. That's a psychological trick, and it has the effect of keeping everybody equally poor.
When my parents are old and can't take care of themselves anymore, I'll take care of them - not because I am morally obligated, but because I love them. When my grandparents, who helped me enormously in getting my degree, have a need that I can fulfill, I will help them in whatever way I possibly can. And again, that's not because their charity was a loan. They gave to me of their bounty because they loved me - and if they ever need anything from me, I would do the same for them, for the same reason.
To say that morality should be a consideration of capitalism...do they not see, it undermines the entire concept of a gift!
Ah, but you should get the
March 31, 2009 - 14:06 ET by dscottAh, but you should get the point, charity is in competition with government in meeting the needs of the people. When someone gives freewillingly, the politician is deprived of a vote. Thus Barack Obama must cut off or lessen charitiable giving from the Rich because afterall they are supposed to be bad people shirking their civic duty of paying more taxes.
Remember what Obama said? Poor education in this country is the fault of the rich, he said so in his budget submitted to Congress. The Rich can not be trusted to give according to the votes needed by politicians like Obama, it must be centrally planned to achieve the perfect demographic balance of 50% plus 1 of the voters.
A gift is free, a vote is not!!!
Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, starving the poor one gallon of ethanol at a time. Fill your tank with E85 and cull a village.
Exactly dscott
March 31, 2009 - 14:54 ET by BlondeThis is what is behind Obama's changing the deductibility of charitable contributions.
HE is going to dole out our charity for us, because, after all, we're too stupid to decide.
Plus, it means more votes for him and the democrats this way.
I hope he fails, too.
ahaha

I wonder who she'll blame when she has to share her paycheck with an illegal alien once we become a full-blown socialist country. Or will she be happy about it.
Stupid girl...

March 31, 2009 - 13:56 ET by dscottTalk about propaganda from the Ministry of Truth! Democrats refuse to reform the CRA which forces banks to make loans which can not be paid off by economically challenged people, the Democrats refuse to lower the price gas (breaking their 2006 campaign promise) by allowing drilling ban to stand, but it's all Capitalism's fault because it couldn't make gold from straw??? Now multiply this government insanity by the EU doing the same things, but it's the US fault?
So when the government prints trillions more dollars to mitigate it's failed policies driving up the price of oil, I suppose you'll then blame the oil companies like before?
If you're that stupid I suppose you believe the Print & Media aren't in financial trouble because the public is fed up with your propagandizing, oh that's right it's all the internet's fault... Notice Socialism and those who support it never take responsibility for their failures, they just blame someone else.
Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, starving the poor one gallon of ethanol at a time. Fill your tank with E85 and cull a village.
They do blame us
March 31, 2009 - 14:15 ET by waincroftWe have friends all over the world and the majority believe the United States is responsible for their poor economies, especially those in Great Britain and western Europe. These people are taxed to death to support the socialist services they get but have terrible health care.
My daughter in law is from England and is terrified of what appears to be happening here. She remembers what England was like pre Margaret Thatcher. Not only government control of everything but a virtual caste system where you could get higher education only if your parents were in the upper social stratas.
I can't imagine many who have immigrated here, except those who have done so illegally, are in favor of this slide to socialism. As Stuart Barney, who immigrated from England 30 years ago, said on Sean Hannity's show the other day he is very saddened that his adopted country is going the way of the one he fled due to just the same policies.
They also by and large have no strong feelings about our war on terror as they have lived with terror for so long. In England it was the IRA and then attacks on government buildings and public transportation by cells in London's huge muslim population. I personally was there when a government office located in a townhouse was bombed. I was in Paris when the metro was bombed and also when there was a terror threat on the Eifel Tower and it was closed and troops everywhere, which was never reported here. I landed at Charles DeGaulle one night and all of a sudden metal barriers came down and troops with rifles were running around. So, to them, it's just business as usual.
Well, at least I can go online to SAMSHA.gov and get help for my depression...oops, the site is down! Maybe so many of us are depressed they couldn't handle all the traffic?
Do they realize...
March 31, 2009 - 16:13 ET by JeffWeimerThat the inherent weaknesses of their semi-socialist economies and it's dependence on us helped push the american economy to the pre-eminence it has; and thus, it came to be that when we began to falter, they fell? That it's not "our fault", but their own, by design?
It's literally "when we sneeze, Europe catches cold."
AMAZING. Wasn't it
March 31, 2009 - 16:18 ET by deerjerkydaveAMAZING. Wasn't it American capitalism that made it the greatest and richest nation on the earth? Capitalism has done more for wealth and standard of living for average people than any other system. ALL OTHER SYSTEMS BENEFIT A MINORITY CLASS AND INJURE THE MAJORITY CLASS.
Bovine Excreta
March 31, 2009 - 16:25 ET by slickwillie2001"Capitalism is responsible for the financial crisis" is just the kind of insipid and meaningless statement that the old media passes off as analysis. It's like saying 'airplanes are responsible for airplane crashes'. Hundreds of years of capitalism have given us the most advanced, healthiest, affluent, most equitable society that the world has ever seen. A bad year and these sorry excuses for thinkers are ready to throw it overboard?
There are many reasons for the financial collapse, but they cannot be provided for the ignorant masses in a twenty second soundbyte. It's not entirely lack of regulation, it's not entirely over-regulation, and the last thing it's not about is 'greed'.
But twenty-second soundbytes seems all we are capable of anymore.
It amazes me..
March 31, 2009 - 17:03 ET by sam12663how the same people who rail against capitalism are the very ones that have reaped its rewards. I wonder, are all of these MSNBC talking heads working for minimum wage, or are they raking in some big bucks? They work for one of the largest corporations on the planet, one that, by the way, did business with Iran when it was supposed to be illegal; yet they deride capitalism all the time. What about personal responsibility? Where does that factor into this? Liberals don't care about individual responsibility, they want to blame the private business sector; it gives them a Boogeyman to blame.
President Obama is nothing more than a empty suit; a Hollywood
style special effects smoke and mirrors show that has shown itself to
be a total fraud.
