This morning, MSNBC’s Alex Witt was in full damage control mode, working whatever apologist explanations she could find into her reluctant coverage of last night's teleprompter-free “Tonight Show” appearance by the president. [audio available here]
Obama was doing quite well at staying on message, when he made the following comment in reaction to Jay Leno's question about his infamous lack of bowling ability:
JAY LENO: I imagine the bowling alley has been burned and closed down.
President BARACK OBAMA: No, I've been practicing.
LENO: Really?
OBAMA: I bowled a 129. I had –
LENO: Oh, no, that's very good. Yeah. That's very good, Mr. President.
OBAMA: This is sort of like Special Olympics or something.
ALEX WITT: Now as nothing goes unescaped when it comes to the President. He did talk about the Special Olympics. Some people took that as an offensive remark. However, this morning on a radio show, the director of the Special Olympics for the state of Illinois, a man by the name of Doug Snyder, talked about that. And he thinks he knows where all this came from, because he remembers a couple years back introducing the President to a little girl named Caitlyn, who showed the President how to bowl, and did a darn better job of doing it at the time than the President was able to do it. He thinks Caitlyn is actually perhaps the inspiration for the President deciding to be a bit better as a bowler. It is a rather wide practice for the media to hide their favored politicians behind children. Think, for instance, of the school voucher debate. Those people who favored vouchers were portrayed as being “against better education for our children.” In this, Witt is attempting to hide the President's flippant and insulting remark behind a silver-lined cloud of compassion. Not even the White House is so silly as to think that the President's remarks were anything but flippant and offensive - as evidenced by the immediate phone call to the President and CEO of the Special Olympics apologizing for the comments, and the near-instantaneous press release.
In her zeal to cover the President's gaffe, Alex Witt has shown her true colors - just another liberal media apologist, deep in the tank for Obama.

Narcissists are often callous- and even ruthless. They tend to lack empathy and/or a conscience. This is evident in Obama's lack of interest in his own half-brother who lives in poverty in Kenya, or his aunt found living in public housing in Boston. Obama's almost certainly a pathological narcissist... the most dangerous charismatic leaders are, comes from an insecure childhood (like Barack's).
Indicators include control freakery, grandiose self-importance, feeling "above the law", interpersonally exploitive, inability to handle criticism, lack of empathy, arrogant behavior, surrounds himself with sycophants... sound familiar?

March 20, 2009 - 12:31 ET by Georgia GirlI have a son with autism, and it is just that kind of offhanded, unnecessary comment that hurts. It's the parents of kids with special needs who will likely feel the sting; we realize that nobody would say something like that if they had any personal experience (or a natural compassion) about a very emotional and difficult journey -- raising a child you love so much who has special needs.
I'm no fan of Obama's, but I was honestly surprised he would say something like that. Apparently he was in "I'm so cool" mode. It's not funny. It's just another indicator of his self-absorbed personality. To borrow a phrase from Jennifer Aniston, I guess there's a "sensitivity chip missing."

Another way is go to main page of the thread and check for "new comments" at bottom. If it says for example "3 new comments" and you read them, when you check next time those 3 will have become part of the whole. So each time you check "new comments" they are new as of your last access to the page. (I hope that is understandable) Some like me might be pretty clueless as to how this all works. It took me a while to figure it out. Duhhhhhh.
I wish there was a way to check on comments to your own posts only, but its seems you must check all new comments to find any that are for you. Or am I missing something ? Anyone?

certain trolls not posting
March 20, 2009 - 18:12 ET by SickofLibsYou have to understand that certain trolls (say like Goldbar) go into what as known as IHS (Involuntary Hibernation State), whereby the miniscule area of the brain responsible for what we normal humans call 'conscience' short circuits the surrounding synapses, resulting in a coma-like state where the only sentient act the individual remains capable of is turning on the TV and watching "Countdown" at 8 pm. They remain incapable of blog posting during this hibernation period.
They MAY awaken briefly during other times to visit the local convenience store to purchase lottery tickets and/or Doritos, but otherwise remain dormant until the short circuit episode subsides.

You about gave me a heart attack. "Dancing with the Stars" has been about the ONLY place I've been able to get away from Obama. On the other hand, if he was on "The Apprentice," he'd be fired for sure.

March 21, 2009 - 07:29 ET by ConservativeRexWhen I got to work on nights last night I relieved my buddy whose son competed in the Special Olympics as a bowler but is now a world champion, several gold medal winning powerlifter what Obami had said. He did not see any humor in it.
His son is about 6'4 and 300# and can deadlift a huge amount of weight. I'd like to see him lift Obami over his head and toss him.
By the way, he also has a 180 average in bowling. So I don't think Obami would want to mess with him there either. Except if he threw Obami down the lane to clean it off, that would be OK.
Congratulations NewsBusters!
