Chicago Sun-Times Columnist Urges Obama: 'Spearhead an Anti-violence Rally of Huge Proportion'
Liberals look to government, often the Federal government, for solutions to almost everything. Chicago's murder rate is appalling, with at least six people killed and another 31 shot last weekend. So to whom does Chicago Sun-Times columnist Stella Foster turn for help? President Barack Obama.
On the newspaper's Web site today appears Foster's plea, titled "Letter to President Obama: Please help address city violence." The article also appears in the newspaper's print edition with the headline "Dear Mr. President: Help our city!" It begins:
PRESIDENT OBAMA, you came into your hometown of Chicago last weekend to attend the backyard wedding of the daughter of your personal friend and senior advisor Valerie Jarrett in your Kenwood neighborhood. I am sure the affair was lovely and heartwarming. Hopefully, your schedule, one day soon, will allow you to return to Chi Town to spearhead an anti-violence rally of huge proportion to speak out against the senseless gun violence that has overwhelmed various areas of our city. . .
Later she writes:
. . . I truly do care that our people — yes, I said “our people” or minorities — are continuing to hurt, kill and disrespect each other, especially when the hot sun comes out to play.
I VOTED for you, Mr. President, and now I am personally asking you to care enough to come back to Chicago and speak out. Who knows, coming straight from the president’s mouth may just deter potential criminal activity or touch the soul of a person contemplating killing someone!
She ends by preparing for less than a positive response:
BUT, Mr. President, if you can’t make it, I will certainly understand, and will still continue to catch you whenever you are on the news and talk shows. . .
Over the years, Chicago has held dozens, perhaps hundreds, of anti-violence marches. They've been headed by Chicago mayors and other politicians, police superintendents, and community activists such as Jesse Jackson and Father Michael Pfleger. The killing continues.
Thinking that Obama showing up at a rally would have any significant impact on Chicago crime is, charitably, unrealistic. Despite his disastrous record on jobs, the debt, deficits, home foreclosures, gas prices, etc., some in the mainstream media still view him as The One. OK, OK, so the rise of the oceans hasn't slowed and our planet hasn't healed like he promised. The mainstream media know what the solution is: Four more years. In the meantime, marching in Chicago would sure help.

If they had stop and frisk in Chi town like they do in NYC than the undertakers and the florist shops wouldn't be the only ones doing business there. Chicago, Cincinnati and Detroit. 3 places not to go on vacation. There are many others but you could probably add to the list. It's like watching the movies as a kid as the wagon trains rode through hostile Indian (Native American) (Sarcasm on) territory . Except I think it's more dangerous.

Civil Rights leaders are too busy protesting the stop and frisk program in NYC to worry about the mass killings in Chicago. We know what works and how to stop violence in the inner cities. It was the same program that worked when my in-laws grew up in poverty in NYC back in the 30's and 40's. Cops on the streets stopping, talking and patting down kids hanging out in the hood. Knowing that they were around kept most of the kids in line and the bad kids left weapons (mostly knives back then) home and like NYC today there was a low murder/crime rate.
But because OF people like Sharpton and liberal Democrats blood flows in the streets, today most of the inner city is black/hispanic in most American cities and cops like Ray Kelley, the police chief of NYC is called a racist for keeping those folks safe. He recently was attacked by the City Council memembers for running a racist police department and asked them, "Stop and and Frisk works, it saves lives, it has saved THOUSANDS of lives in NYC". He then asked those Dems, If you have a better idea or can point to any other program that works tell me?' There was dead silence. All the Dems want to do is play the race card to gain power and they don't give a damn how many kids die in the process.

Dear Ms. Foster,
I doubt very seriously if you will receive any type of response from the president regarding black on black violence in our inner cities. The only time you will hear from Mr. Obama is when he needs our vote.
What our people are experiencing in the black community is a result of years and years of looking to the federal government to solve our problems. Previous generations sold us out to the democratic party for a welfare check, the same way Esau sold his birthright for a bowl of soup.
When we got that first taste of free government cheese... we were screwed.
What we have received in return is the break up of the black family. Our communities are now war zones that are immersed in drugs, unwed teenage mothers, crime, abortions and street gangs.
The majority of our black males have no fathers to teach them how to be men, so most of them end up defining their manhood through rap musicians, hustlers and thugs . It's no wonder that most of us as black men end up either in prison or dead on the streets.
This is what we have done to ourselves, white republicans didn't do this, we did! The minute we replaced God with Government, we surrendered our right to complain about the results. As Reverend Wright says...
"Our chickens have come home to roost".
No half-black president can save us and as long as we continue to look to those who benefit from our dependency and poverty then we are truly without hope.
Before we started voting for democrats our families were intact, we owned our own land, we had our own businesses, we were prosperous and our children were respectful and loved to learn.
Now, because of our own ignorance combined with arrogance and our refusal to govern ourselves,
we are reaping what we have sown. Martin Luther King Jr. had a dream...this is not it.
It's time for us as black people to stop lying to ourselves and face the truth.
No Ms. Foster, government can not save us.... the government has already done enough to us.
We have to save ourselves.

These folks loved him, voted for him and just might have listened to him. But Obama hasn't lifted a freaking finger let alone make it a priority. Thousands of young men die annually while the President goes perpetually fundraising. This is one cold-hearted man. Product of the Chicago Machine.
In liberal history, he is already is Lincoln-esque in stature simply by being black (1/2 anyway).

It is one of refusal of responsibility, blaming others for ones situation, reliance on government handouts for survival and feeling entitled to those handouts.
The awareness that the community will not reject those who assault, rape or murder in fact they condone those actions by excusing them and blaming some other force or agency for them.
The relentless soft bigotry by white liberals who predominate in government in cities.
They too make every effort to excuse such behavior along with the dominant news refusing to identify the race of the perpetrators so that the extent of the problem cannot be hidden or refuse acknowledgement.

Any parent that says they have no control over their children to the extent that they rape, assault and murder other people is a liar.
If you start young and set a standard, most human beings will follow that standard for the rest of their lives. Yes some will deviate from it but not in the percentages that black men and women do. Something is seriously wrong at the parental level.
Blaming society or white people is fruitless as neither of those influences can affect a child's sense of morality and right and wrong like a parent can.
To put the onus on governmental departments and other organizations rather on the parents is pure laziness and an attempt to evade responsibility by those making that demand.
Prior to 1960, blacks did not assault, rape and murder to the extent that they do now. What changed?

Re: Tom Lehrer's "Folk Song Army", wherein (as he states in his song intro) the object of the "protest" folk song isn't to actually accomplish anything, but rather to make you (the singer) feeeeel good. The final stanza ends with "Ready, aim, SING!"
That approximates this approach, except for actually aiming at something (oh my, that sounds like such a violent/martial kind of word!) with a goal of accomplishing a measurable result.
"Ye canne change the laws of physics....." but some politicians believe that with the right legislation you can pretend they don't really apply to your own pet projects...

You bring in the Illinois National Guard and declare marital law. The commander of the guard troops becomes the major and his adjudant becomes the chief of police. You tell your troops to drop anybody caught carrying a weapon of any kind. The subjects in Chicago are not allowed to own guns even though SCOTUS has ruled they did. They are not in danger of being shot. After about a week of that the guard can go home. Then you allow the subjects to arm themselves.
An unarmed person is a subject. An armed person is a citizen.

I love how the first sentence says it all. "...speak out against the senseless gun violence that has overwhelmed various areas of our city." It's not gun violence, it's black violence. Maybe Holder and Obama have released guns into Chicago so the killing escalates, so then they can make a better case for removing guns from law abiding citizens. Phillihole and Chithole join the growing list of other holes that are the direct result of liberals one way or another. Consevatives know exactly how to curb violence and deal with violent agressors. It makes us look like geniuses I guess.
