Clarence Page Falsely Asserts Fluke Testified 'Before a Congressional Committee Hearing'

By Mike Bates | March 07, 2012 | 18:08

On the Chicago Tribune's Web site and in its print edition today, columnist Clarence Page asks hopefully "Could this be the end of Limbaugh?"

Seizing on the usual Democratic points regarding Rush Limbaugh's comments about law student Sandra Fluke, Page writes that Limbaugh wasn't suspended, "despite his breathtaking assault against a private citizen whose only crime, after all, was to testify before a congressional committee hearing in support of mandatory health insurance for contraception."

But Sandra Fluke didn't testify before a legitimate congressional committee hearing.  As noted by CBS News senior political producer Jill Jackson On February 23:

Led by House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, the Democrats held a pretend hearing while Congress is not in session to listen to the views of a third-year Georgetown Law student and activist who was not allowed to attend a Republican run hearing on the matter last week.

Jackson's report also refers to "Thursday's fake hearing" and the "mock hearing." Pretend, fake and mock.  Not, as Page suggests, a genuine congressional committee hearing.

It was merely a session orchestrated by House minority leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and other liberals to bolster their spurious contention of a "war on women."  Page has been around Washington long enough to know the difference.  But it might interfere with the narrative he and some other members of the mainstream media wish to advance.

Is it just me?

Or are these people becoming ridiculous EVEN to THEMSELVES? It feels like the end of them just flat-out lying is coming to a cresendo.

I thought Kirsten Powers' REMARKABLY HONEST article about the APPALLING double standard re: civility was a REAL breakthrough this week.

I'm sure she's shunned as being not sufficiently liberal just because she walked on the sidewalk on the same side of the street as the-network-that-shall-not-be-named -- quite apart from being a paid contributor which makes her a COMPLETE traitor, but I've noticed a sort of slow "coming along" with her over the last couple of years, where even she is starting to go "Hey... I don't think I want to stand with these people. They're pretty awful..." (It think it started after she and Megyn Kelley had that AWESOME smack-down over the Philadelphia Black Panther thing. Remember?)

I mean, God love her, and ALL people of strong convictions! HAVE THEM. All we ask is you not be a lying duplicitous TURD about them.

She's been really, REALLY brave more than once this last year or so, so it makes me wonder...

COULD IT BE TRUE? Could we be seeing the beginning of a period when they are OPENLY, REGULARLY, MOCKED & SHAMED???? WIDELY???? So much so they they scurry like the cockroaches they are, and go back into hiding for another generation or two until the come out, yet again, rebranded, with more evil double-talk?

Could it be??????????

End of Clarence Page?

Submitted by deadeyedan on Wed, 03/07/2012 - 6:48pm.

The "Chicago Tribune" quite some time ago dispensed with its Republican leanings while giving us this (proudly) self-admitted product of racial preferences who has a record of one blunder after another, and he's going to pick a fight with someone with Rush's credentials?

What a laugh!

Paige on Reagan

Submitted by Ronbo on Wed, 03/07/2012 - 7:01pm.

Last year, at this time, Paige wrote a column spinning the argument that Ronald Reagan would be considered a moderate today. He's got a way with words.

"...breathtaking assault against a private citizen" Rush is a private citizen too. Does this person want to repeal Freedom of Speech?

For all of the Liberal mantra's about how women are strong and equals of men, when it suits them they fall right back into the traditional archetype of women as the weaker sex.

page is a monster who will destroy freedom

Submitted by colt4548 on Wed, 03/07/2012 - 9:45pm.

Page is an ego driven monster and must be removed from his job.

http://www.sj-r.com/opinions/x1348679824/Clarence-Page-Joe-the-Plumber-b...

This link provides an attack that page used against private citizen "Joe the plumber". For Page to cry about Rush's attack on a "Private citizen" after he did the same thing is so very EVIL. To achieve any type of social justice, he must be removed from his job, and all of his money seized.

STAND WITH ME AND DEMAND HE BE REMOVED FROM JOURNALISM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Social Justice - Isn't that what those wonderful OWS people wanted?

".......third-year Georgetown

Submitted by big.league.slider on Thu, 03/08/2012 - 2:59am.

".......third-year Georgetown Law student and activist who was not allowed to attend a Republican run hearing on the matter last week......".

I believe that's another misstatement.  The congressional hearings were public, so Ms. Fluke could have attended.

I also would ask this question about Georgetown University's authority to make decisions in these types of matters:  Since the Obama administration has established numerous precedents giving schools the authority to deny the basic civil rights of students while they're on campus, with things like speech codes, gun rights, etc., wouldn't Georgetown U. also theoretically have the authority to require students to refrain from engaging in potentially disastrous activities like recreational sex?
