Fox Chicago News Anchor Echoes Curry's Concern for Caroline Kennedy
Yesterday, NewsBuster Kyle Drennen detailed how NBC Today co-host Ann Curry fretted about the latest Kennedy scandal's impact on Caroline Kennedy. "What about Caroline, who is still alive? " she asked John F. Kennedy mistress Mimi Alford.
Last night on Fox Chicago News, anchor Bob Sirott picked up on the same theme in his "One More Thing" opinion segment:
I wonder if she (Alford) feels guilty now about how President Kennedy's only living child Caroline might feel about her story?
Just a guess, but I imagine the daughter, now older than her father was when he died, didn't go into a state of shock. Yet the mainstream media worry about her as though she were a teenager, like Alford was when the 45-year-old Kennedy took her virginity.
Sirott ended with:
So what does this do, if anything, to the Kennedy legacy? I agree with historian Doris Kearns Goodwin who says we have already factored in the idea there were other women in JFK's life, and after absorbing these stories it hasn't changed the fundamental liking the American people have for his memory.
I do wonder what Herman Cain, Newt Gingrich, and Bill Clinton are thinking about all this -- don't you?
Perhaps many have "factored in the idea there were other women" for Kennedy, but did they factor in a teenager? Herman Cain, Newt Gingrich, and Bill Clinton shouldn't even be mentioned in the same context. They've never been accused of jetting women in for their satisfaction. Of directing girls to have sex with other men while they watched. Of forcing a woman to inhale a sex drug.
Instead of worrying about how Caroline will take the "news," those in the mainstream media should ponder why it's taken decades - in this case close to half a century - for them to disclose what a shallow lout John F. Kennedy was. If he hadn't been a liberal hero, it wouldn't have taken nearly so long.

The only reason Kennedy is a hero at all is because he served his country at war, and then died serving as president. And while that is tragic, and honestly, JUST as tragic as if he had been a republican, yet I doubt libs would feel that way...but I digress) that does not diminish that he was liberal, incompetent, ineffective and last, but not least immoral, and really amoral, as was the rest of the Kennedy clan, like Papa Joe.

I always wonder how heroic it is, to be a commander of the smallest boat in the Navy, sunk in the largest ocean on earth by a cruiser which didn't even know it hit him.
Mike Royko had an expression for this..He used to say its like arguing who has the tallest midget in the circus.
A court-martial for PT 109?
Submitted by Mike Bates on Fri, 02/10/2012 - 5:00pm.
In the '60 election campaign, columnist Drew Pearson claimed that Gen. MacArthur said Kennedy deserved a court-martial for letting a Japanese destroyer hit his PT boat. Mac denied he'd said it. After publication.
The story gets confusing
Submitted by Galvanic on Fri, 02/10/2012 - 10:21pm.
In August 1943, on the night of the incident, PT 109 and the rest of the PT boats in that squadron were on picket duty in the Blackett Strait, Solomon Islands.
The boats were spread out across the strait to intercept and provide early warning of any Japanese task group transiting the strait; they were to attack if feasible. Two of the boats had surface search radar, but PT 109 wasn't one of them. According to some after action reports, the squadron was in radio silence to avoid detection by the Japanese, so when one of the radar-equipped boats detected the approaching Japanese task group, it didn't immediately alert the squadron.
At this point, the story gets more complex. According to some witnesses, LTJG Kennedy had shut down PT 109's engines to conserve fuel, avoid giving their position away to coast artillery batteries and observation posts, and/or listen for approaching ships (PT boats had two aircraft engines that ran very loud, even when idling). Thus, when the Japanese destroyer suddenly appeared bearing down on the boat, PT 109 could not be manuevered to avoid a collision. The destroyer cut the boat in two, killing two 109 crewmen instantly.
The rest of the story is pretty much how it was portrayed in the 1962 film "PT 109."
The Navy began an investigation into what had happened and who, if anyone, was to blame. Some were calling for Kennedy to be court-martialed for negligently hazarding his vessel.
Meanwhile, his daddy went on a full-blown publicity campaign calling on FDR and the Congress to award his son the Medal of Honor, which the Navy said was out of the question.
As a compromise, the awarding of the Navy Marine Corps Medal -- an award given to Navy and Marine personnel who save lives at the risk of their own in non-combat situations -- was eventually presented to JFK, who had towed a critically burned sailor for miles through the sea to the first island.
Joe Kennedy Sr. recognized immediately that the war story of his son's heroism was just what a rising young politician could capitalize on.

Speaking of heroism
Submitted by Radical1979 on Fri, 02/10/2012 - 10:46pm.
this may not go over well, but I heard the Navy is going to name a ship after Gabby Giffords. It's heroic to accidently be the victim of a shooting? Nothing against Giffords, but let's start naming ships after Navy Seals who have given their lives by deliberately putting themselves in harms way.
We have to start discerning the difference between victims and heroes in this country.
It's even worse

Rad, they're naming an LPD, which will carry Marines, after John Murtha. Too bad he couldn't have lived to see the last of the Haditha 8 cleared of all murder charges, and then promptly dropped dead.
I was POed back when they decided to name carriers after Carl Vinson and John Stennis. I don't even like Presidents getting ships named for them. Our Commander in Chief is a civilian for a reason. Being the most powerful man in the world for a short time should be reward enough.
Ships should be named for heroes. We have more than enough to fill the list. As to SEALs, we have the USS Michael Monsoor (DDG-1001) and the USS Michael Murphy (DDG-112). There may be more that I'm not aware of.

I heard about the LPD being named for Murtha. His name shouldn't be on anything but an outhouse.
Politicians at all levels feel the need to have things named after them (schools, courthouses, etc). Let's make a law that only people who have died in performance of their duty have that honor.
This country is a mess.

Those that still worship JFK are not a little annoyed that someone has come forward and reminded people that their precious emperor really was without clothes on too many occasions with women that were not his wife.
As for The Spew, the only time that show is on around here is however long it takes for me to find the remote and change the channel.

. . . it was Caroline who blessed the early release of an interview her mother had done after JFK's death, in which she said that she had had an affair with William Holden in order to get back at her husband.
If the daughter doesn't mind that story getting out, how could she object to the Alford story?
My answer to the self-appointed protectors of Caroline is, "Her daddy should've thought of this before he did what he did."

Too bad you didn't show the same concern for Sarah Palin's YOUNG children when the media was actively trying to destroy her. Even accusing her of faking her pregnancy of young Trig. And they awful things they said about him and the fact that she didn't abort him !!!!!
My question to you Ann Curry is why is it only democRats who deserve concern from the media? You people are ludicrous. More proof that the media is an arm of the democRat party. No wonder you are mostly irrelevant.

Her daddy was a cheating sleazeball, same as most of her uncles.
Bobby played around with Marilyn Monroe and probably a good number of JFK's sloppy seconds. Teddy was an all-around dirtbag and the brother-in-law uncles were also cheating bastards.
These Democrats have lived under the delusion of Kennedy royalty for so long that they still defend such disgusting behavior long after it has been well documented. Get the hell over it, Democrats--the Kennedys are damaged goods.

As others have said (and me too), Caroline is 57. She's a big girl, and as a Kennedy is not a stranger to the satyrical impulses of her father and two uncles, one of whom didn't know how to drive or swim. Or a lot of other Democratic leaders (the randy ones, not the Klan leaders).
But the press is like a Greek chorus made up of a bunch of chicken littles, Prudella Goodbody, and the Church Lady, standing off to one side, wringing their hands and wetting themselves when someone says something that impugns their fallen heroes, senatorial lions, and defenders of women's health issues (a.k.a., abortion).

The media breathlessly and repetitively repeated every single unsubstantiated charge against Herman Cain in order to destroy him and knock him out of the race.
But here we have an eye witness account of how JFK took drugs, targeted teenage interns for sexual affairs, pimped out teenage interns, and the media is furious at the witness.

media.......so quick to defend the indiscretions of their own, but quicker to condemn those of the opposition. Ann Curry, Barbara Walters and their "sorority sisters" are too disgusting to bother with. The Kennedy boys obviously didn't give a rat's rear end about the effect their womanizing would have on their families, so why should we all of a sudden have any sympathy for Caroline Kennedy? Joseph Kennedy helped to create the Kennedy mystique that propelled his son into the WH. It was supposed to be Joe, Jr., but his death prevented that so John had to take up the slack. People talk of the Kennedy Curse. I say what goes around comes around.
