ABC News: 'Is Obama 'Too Nice' to Make Tough Decisions?'

ABC News's Web site includes the article "Is Obama 'Too Nice' to Make Tough Decisions?" by correspondent David Kerley.  The piece begins:

With problems for the president in Afghanistan, health care and unemployment, some critics on both the left and right are asking: Is the president essentially "too nice" to make the important decisions?

The National Journal magazine asks in a just-out edition, "Is He Tough Enough?"

"Be decisive," says Tom Tradewell, the commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Even liberal New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd says the president will have to "break some eggs" to cook up a more perfect union.

None of the people quoted assert the problem is Obama's affability.  Rather, the difficulty is the extreme caution he exercises, many times so as to not offend interest groups.

Story Continues Below Ad ↓

We know Obama has little reluctance in employing the us-versus-them class struggle rhetoric against private enterprise.  He's accused surgeons of removing legs and tonsils for the money.  (The American College of Surgeons pointed out his statement that a surgeon receives $50,000 for a leg amputation was a little off; Medicare pays between $740 and $1,140).  Obama has no qualms sending his flunkies forth to attack Fox News.  On Saturday, he personally claimed that health insurers are “filling the airwaves with deceptive and dishonest ads.”

Too nice?  Not hardly.  Indecisive? Definitely.  Dithering?  You bet.  Waffling?  Absolutely.  Unqualified?  The answer increasingly becomes apparent.  While Obama repeatedly says he wants to make things clear, rarely does he provide specifics.

As he stumbles and vacillates and falters, we've seen the mainstream media supply an arsenal of excuses for Obama's failings.  He inherited it all from Bush.  He set too ambitious an agenda.  Large Democratic majorities in both houses of Congress aren't enough.  He's so terribly brilliant and nuanced that it takes the American public quite a while to catch up with him.

And now an excuse is he's just too nice.  That's as empty as Obama's promises, and will last about as long.

His history actually

His history actually indicates he can be extremely ruthless, for his own benefit.

The power to transfer secrets to China has been given back to the Commerce Dept., the same ruse Clinton used to transfer secrets to China, marriage is being attacked, the homo agenda is being pushed - all the attack America plays are going into full swing.

Don't expect 0s ruthlessness to be used for anyone else's benefit any time soon.

ROFLMAO! Too funny. Obama

ROFLMAO! Too funny. Obama is an arrogant a-hole that lies constantly. He could care less about the people. It is all about him and his agenda. Even the left is slowly figuring this out.

"DumbAssity of Dope"

Obama's mouth has written

Obama's mouth has written checks that he is politically unwilling to cash. Everytime I hear his Iran "policy" mentioned, I think of : "See this line? If you cross it, we'll draw another one."

this line, you die

"This is the line of death. You cross it, you die!" {Pause}

Chris,

LOL-I think you nailed it with that one.

Who said Obama was Bugs?

Who said Obama was Bugs? :)

By the way, why is it that Democrats love having these grandly announced "policy meetings" and " domestic summits" to make any decision - except to postpone that decision indefinitely? I don't recall any Republican president engaging in this silly charade of endless process that results in nothing.

The "Mainstream" Media: By liberals. For liberals.

That's all Obama has, Chris

Silly charades and speeches.

There is no there, there.

I hope he fails, too.

Blonde, And we're not

Blonde,

And we're not even through the first year. How long can he keep the charade going? In foreign and defense policy, I get the uneasy feeling that the pilot's seat is empty and in domestic policy, I wish it was. Can you imagine what it will be like if he is confronted with a major national security crisis that requires an immediate decision?

mentioned this elsewhere here

Given the way things are going, I got a feeling that they are trying not to do damage control, but one of two things, possibly at the same time: 1) get control as quick as they can, as that's what they are trying to do with health care and cap and tax and copenhagen.  This, they are doing regardless.

However, it can lead into this next thing should the American people actually rise up against them: 2) do as much damage to the country as possible through the economy and the military(vis a vis lack of action in Afghanistan and emasculate our military at home by cuts of all kinds) and this they can do to hurt this country regardless of which way it goes if #1 happens or not.

All the same, damage control is not the name of the game, but rather control by damage.

-Jon

I mentioned this

somewhere else, Jon.  If comrade 0 is voted out in 2012, despite ACORN and SEIU's best efforts, the president who follows him will be hamstrung for years, just trying to undo the damage that's been done.  Think any ally will take an American President at his word, for anything?  Will the military have what it needs to protect/defend this country.  Think F-22, and Future Combat Systems.  It'll take two terms to get the US back to where it was on Jan 20, 2009.

That will depend very heavily on how hard the new President

looks into the criminal activities of this (p)resident and his underlings.

If we get a strong LEADER with the guts it's going to take to not play nice in DC, then all will be forgiven, with a healthy dose of 'trust, but verify' for a couple of terms.

If we get another "Mr. Nice Guy" like the last Bush tried to be, then we ain't gonna have many friends in the world.

And certainly none we can count on to cover our back.

Where is my $250?

I need to buy more ammo.

You are in luck it seems

You are in luck it seems many a carrier now has plenty of ammo, even .380

Ammo

Here in good old California, we will soon be required to leave name, address, and thumbprint when ammo is purchased.

This requirement was promulgated by an elected Dem at State level.

Purportedly, this requirement will make it easier for law enforcement to "track" gang bangers.

Can someone tell me at what point the law was passed requiring politicians to have nine-tenths of their god-d**ned brains surgically removed before taking office?

Re: Ammo

I envision ammo shops just across the border in Nevada and other states, much like fireworks shops in some states. If this is passed, some ammo manufacturers will give up all shipping to California, making it difficult for the thousands of police departments in California to get their.

Obama has a lot of problems, but being 'too nice'...

...ain't one of them.

"...the extreme caution

"...the extreme caution he exercises, many times so as to not offend interest groups."

This is the fatal flaw of the left in general.  All political parties suffer from ideological cracks, but the left is handicapped by it.

Think of how many interest groups and aggrieved parties populate the left as opposed to the right, then couple that with the fake compassion that leftists like to show for everyone.  This is why the democrats will never form a coherent front.

He's too nice to our

He's too nice to our enemies, and way too hostile to our allies, our own private sector, and to real Americans.

Obama is doing exactly as

Obama is doing exactly as he wants..he is solidifying his own position of power.

World events to all others are important but to him its only a means to strengthen his own power.

the first rule of Alinsky is "gain power"

              He's a wuss in sheep's clothing.

The problem is

Obama is a reader, not a leader.

It isn't that he is too

It isn't that he is too nice.  He is incompetent.

Kerley

OBAMA = One Big Ass Mistake, America!

Yeah Right.......

Ask the guys Obama ran against that had their divorce documents unsealed by him and publically embarrased into withdrawing.

He had no prob making that "nice" decision.

Divorce documents

The One's GOP opponent for the Senate, Jack Ryan, had his divorce file opened as the result of a lawsuit by the Chicago Tribune and the local ABC TV affiliate.

No doubt Obama thought their efforts were mighty nice.

No Victory for you!

Let me think.......

NO!

He hates our military! Now that the UN has decided there needs to be a do over in the Afgan elections, HE has decided not to send troop reinforcements until after another election is held.

So HE has made the tough decision to let our guys die while elections are held.

ONE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE OTHER!!

OUR TROOPS ARE OUR TROOPS AND WHAT THEY NEED HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ELECTIONS IN SOME FOREIGN LAND WHERE THEIR LIVES ARE ON THE LINE!

PERIOD!!!!!

Exactly right,

Delsa.  With the alleged irregularities in A-stan, how can the dems turn their backs on Karzai.  He was, after all, just being a good democrat.  He was following the models of Minnesota(Franken) and Washington State(Gregoire).  Now, he's listening to John, I served in Viet Nam) Kerry about the elections, because it gives him cover.

He must think that, if he decides to send troops, it'll be like him and Michelle going to NY on a date, they'll just load up the troops and they'll be there in 5 days or so.

Nice doesn't cut it.

It looks like the MSM is finally waking up to reality.  In THIS world, being "nice" doesn't make people change, and Obama is the "change" President. You don't "change" something by being nice, you change it by being tough, by taking command, especially in subjects of foreign policy.  That's a lesson Obama has yet to learn.  He's got the "get tough" approach  down for domestic policy (well, if you consider slander and intimidation as "getting tough," like his "get tough" approach with Fox News), but he just can't seem to grasp the importance of getting tough on foreign policy.

 REMEMBER THIS 2008 BHO POST?

UPDATE JUNE 3.2009: Venezuela Chavez says ‘Comrade’ Obama more left-wing…

The cold angry radical surrounded by cold angry radicals…by June
many Obama voters will be shocked and ashamed. Remember how well
democrat Jimmah Carter (with demo congress) handled the economy? Well,

UPDATE OCTOBER 2009: The economic meltdown response is to want
another “STIM” of borrowed megabillions. Current priorities are to
reform pot laws and cry about Fox News. Tell us again that secular

and here we are…with J. Carter Obama and his band of arrogant kooks.
The national scourging continues.

Ya right...

He's to nice, unless you are attacking him and his communist friends...oh then it's bring it on Fox news...I will show you tuff.

I really hate this guy, character is all we take with us when we die, he has shown his character over and over again.

He is a man of bankrupt morals and a bully, and an idiot. But most of all he is dangerous because of the people he surrounds himself with. It is not him we need to watch, he is the puppet.

I believe he is the other hand, the puppet master Emanuel is pulling the strings and we are getting distracted.

Obama is not the important player. But we are looking at him while his czars are in complete control.

We need to listen.

Glenn Beck is only speaking when he has facts to back it up, the liberals would like us to be crazy conspiracy nuts...however if the facts are not disputed, chances are it is the truth.
