It's little wonder that it was only recently that Michelle (finally!) was proud to be an American. 

Maybe she's recently proud to be an American since she and Barry now have two comma annual income.  That must be it.  Anyone with one comma income is bitter, and clingy....yeah, that must be it.

Okay, I've just done five minutes digging on Obama's tax plans, which are all rather "thin," and notably lacking in meat, in comparison to his income.

It's quite revealing as to the Obama's muddled thinking, and reveals a complete disconnect with what they are claiming about their family income, how the Obamas struggled to survive – and what he considers “the rich” whose taxes he promises to raise.

His wife is now claiming that on a salary of about $240,000 a year the Obama’s were “deluged with bills and calls from collection agencies.”

So... where does a $240,000 a year income place one in the tax paying hierarchy.

Well that would put him in the TOP 4%. The lower end, but still better than 96% of all taxpayers.

I don’t know about you, but I take him to mean that the top 4% are people he considers wealthy in his abstract elitist way.

So what are his plans, to quote from the Obama 08 website, for these wealthy individuals?

“Reverse Bush Tax Cuts for the Wealthy: Obama will protect tax cuts for poor and middle class families, but he will reverse most of the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest taxpayers.”

But Obama – you were in that “wealthy” group even on $240,000 a year. And you could barely survive.

Yet you want to increase the tax for these other “wealthy” people?

Now how about this one. Social Security Payroll Tax?

Obama has promised that subjecting more of a person's income to the payroll tax is the option he would push for if elected president.

Currently, the cap is $102,000, but Obama has promised to increase the wage cap, causing more in wages to be subject to the tax.

But... Obama – your wife says you couldn’t cope on $240,000 and you want to still make people pay more in payroll tax.

I don’t get this disconnect. Anyone else?

 Mrs. O picks up: This is Mrs. Obama. How may I help you?

Caller: This is Shy-town Catering and I am calling in reference to your outstanding $1,675 balance.

Mrs. O: $1,675 for what? Is this regarding our last delivery of heating oil?

Caller: No. I am calling about the caviar we provided for your private party last month.

Mrs. O: Oh, that. Well, we will endeavor to get out a token 'good will' payment to you sometime next week. Or possibly the next week. Cheers.

Oh boo hoo...who does she think she is kidding? Yet there are folks out here in America who are so taken with couple. What a couple of fakes.

I understand sniffing coke will bring the bill collectors around if you don't have a rich daddy. I guess his high paying job and the graft he directed to her through her job just wasn't enough to feed the habit of two coke heads.

The pleading of poverty by Michelle Obama requires a level of chutzpah unmatched by anyone I have heard of recently.

Somehow I don't feel their pain.

no matter how much my family, my husband's parents, and, my own parents struggled THEY NEVER had debt collectors at the door or letters in the mail box. My parents, who in 1953 could not afford the vast sum of $25.00 for insulation in their first house, went without insulation. If they could not afford it, they did not buy it. Same with my husband's family who lived in Canada. When his family split up his American mother came to live in the USA...ALL of the children had to jump thru many hoops to become citizens. They did not have the luxury of any child support AND did not collect welfare...AND did not have debt collectors. They struggled and lived within their means.

What a concept.

If one agrees that the Obama's were "poor" or "struggling" when they were "only" making $200,000/year and now they're as wealthy as many of those "greedy corporate executives", doesn't this prove that capitalism works - even for the "descendants of black slaves"?

Even in Daleyville, where they never met a tax they couldn't find an excuse for, $200,000/yr. is a decent income. Maybe if Barack had spent more of his time actually working instead of building a political base, he could have provided better for his family. You can't have your cake and eat it too. If you wish to claim a life devoted to the service of others, then don't complain that it doesn't pay well enough. 

BTW, still finishing up Sowell's book "Economic Facts and Fallacies". Good chapter on the fallacy of the "legacy of slavery".
