By now you've probably read about how Al Gore and his Alliance for Climate Protection plan to drop $300 million on hard-hitting affective propaganda aimed at convincing the American viewing public to embrace the drastically reduced standard of living that carbon emission controls guarantee.
The first ad from the campaign, narrated by Oscar-nominated actor William H. Macy, shows footage of Americans taking action by storming the beaches at Normandy during World War II, marching for civil rights, and landing on the moon. Americans didn't wait to take action at these critical points in the nation's history, so "we can't wait for someone else to solve the global climate crisis. We need to act and we need to act now. Join us. Together we can solve the climate crisis..."
Setting aside the fact that "we" couldn't actually solve the imagined climate crisis even if stringent carbon controls were imposed on "us," why isn't the media taking a hard look at how much money Al Gore stands to personally take in as a result of the climate of mass hysteria he’s been been helping to foment with his no-holds-barred campaign of misinformation aimed at marginalizing and ostracizing all those who dare to question his take on global warming? Why is the media giving Saint Albert of Carthage, Tennessee, a pass, treating him as a selfless truth-teller on a crusade to save the world, instead of as a masterful market manipulator? (NewsBusters' Dan Riehl hit the bullseye on his personal blog last year, "If Gore's motivation in pushing Global Warming is so altruistic, was it really necessarily for the already wealthy Gore to establish a multi-million dollar corporation in England to cash in?")
It's well-documented that the media treats Gore like a rock star. Fast Company hailed Gore as a comeback kid, describing him as "an epic loser [who] engineered what may be the greatest brand makeover of our time." Business Week said he "seems now to be tapped into the American zeitgeist." ClimateBiz cited one source calling Gore a "truly committed and courageous leader," another source in the same article described Gore's receipt of the Nobel Peace Prize as "a huge intellectual milestone." And there have been a few puff pieces here and there on Gore's global warming-related business investments, but none that this writer was to find go beyond the superficial.
How is Gore trying to be a climate change profiteer? Essentially, he wants to make a fortune by creating a new market for a product that he is attempting to create by legislative fiat. If he succeeds and carbon emissions trading comes to the United States, Al Gore will be uniquely positioned to cash in. He's made sure of that.
Gore himself is chairman and founder of a private equity firm called Generation Investment Management (GIM). He says the London-based firm invests money from institutions and wealthy investors in companies that are becoming environmentally-friendly, to use green parlance. GIM appears to have considerable influence over major carbon credit trading firms: the U.S.-based Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX) and the U.K.-based Carbon Neutral Company (CNC). CCX appears to be the only firm in the U.S. that claims to trade carbon credits. As a politician, Gore speaks warmly of transparency. But as GIM chairman, Gore has not been forthcoming. Little is known about his shadowy firm’s finances, where it gets funding and what projects it supports.
As reported in the August 2007 issue of Foundation Watch ("Al Gore’s Carbon Crusade: The Money and Connections Behind It," by Deborah Corey Barnes), with help from friends at Goldman Sachs, including Hank Paulson, the investment bank’s former CEO who is now the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury, Gore has created a web of organizations to promote the so-called climate crisis.Meanwhile, Gore's Alliance for Climate Protection is pushing for tougher environmental regulations on the private sector. It wants “cap-and-trade” legislation enacted so that companies will be forced to lower their greenhouse gas emissions and buy carbon credits. Untold billions of dollars could be generated in a brand new U.S. carbon market.
When Gore's potential for immense profits is factored in, the $300 million outlay for ads (some of which is likely to come from donations to the Alliance's "We Campaign") seems like a drop in the bucket.
If Gore can keep up the pressure for carbon emissions restrictions, he could end up a very wealthy man.(This is an expanded version of a blog entry posted a few hours ago at Capital Research Center's blog.)

April 1, 2008 - 20:08 ET by DJEddleYou can't very well push a global warming agenda when half the nation is freezing. It's too bad the media and the pseudo-thinkers in our education system don't have the intellectual capacity to identify easily recognizable propaganda. And it's also unfortunate that the "scientists" who promote such flawed hypotheses don't care about the damage it's doing to their profession.
I wonder...will anyone in the media or in the advocate circles care to address these problems? When these issues are so obvious, why are so many people willing to ignore it and instead believe the unbelievable?

Global not local.
April 2, 2008 - 10:17 ET by SyriusDJed,
Thinking globally, acting locally seems to be a hard concept for some of you on this site. You stick your head out the door and notice it's snowing. You think it's not warming up so there is no such thing as a global warm-up. News for you- The climate has changed dramatically around the world. Why has it changed? What type of science will help us in evaluating the cause? What type of cause? Man or regular earth cycle? Combination of both? What are the causes of too much CO2 in the atmosphere? Too much of a good thing? Alcohol in moderation is good for us, too much can kill us. So, if it's a regular earthly occurrence, what steps can we take to help us survive as a species? Or just pray it will go away someday as we go along our merry way...

The Anti 'Man-Made' Global Warming Resource
I found this to help in the cause...
April 1, 2008 - 09:21 ET by SyriusPopped et al,
WASHINGTON, DC—In a nationally televised address reminiscent of
President Kennedy's historic 1961 speech pledging to put a man on the
moon, President Bush responded to the global warming crisis Monday by
calling for the construction of a giant national air conditioner by the
year 2015.
"Climate change is real and it demands a real solution," Bush said.
"Therefore, I am committed to dedicating all of the technology, all of
the brainpower, and all of the resources we need in order to keep
America cool and comfortable well into the 21st century."
The National Air Conditioner Initiative is expected to be the largest
public works project in the nation's history. Because technology
capable of creating an air conditioner that can fulfill the cooling
needs of a continental land mass does not presently exist, the
president estimated that research and development alone will require at
least $100 trillion in both federal and private sector funds.
"The challenge of building an air conditioner for all Americans will be
the greatest we have ever faced," Bush said. "But we must face it. We
must act now to ensure that our children and our children's children
can live in a world where they don't get sweaty and have to change
their shirts all the time."
While Bush's speech left many questions unanswered, such as whether the
one-touch cooling settings would be under federal or state
jurisdiction, reaction from congressional Democrats and Republicans has
been largely favorable.
"I applaud the administration for finally taking this issue seriously,"
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said. "Such a giant apparatus means that
Americans from all walks of life, not just the wealthy and privileged,
will be able to get relief from the rise in the Earth's surface
temperature. And it will create a great many jobs. Just removing and
rinsing out the huge filter will require tens of thousands of seasonal
laborers."
Petrochemical industry leaders voiced early support of the plan,
which would stimulate additional exploration and production of oil and
gas to satisfy the machine's staggering energy needs.
Some fiscal conservatives, however, decry the cost of the project
and the gargantuan electric bills that would result, saying that a
series of mile-high oscillating fans stationed in the Pacific Northwest
and blowing in the direction of the jet stream would accomplish
essentially the same thing and save billions. Conservative commentator
Pat Buchanan expressed his concern that illegal aliens would benefit
unfairly from the air conditioner, since many of them work outside, and
questioned President Bush's ability to "seal the nation's borders in
order to keep the cool air in."
Environmental groups like the Sierra Club have taken a tough stance
on the president's plan, demanding it contain legally binding language
that ensures the air conditioner will be switched to a special
energy-conserving "sleep" setting when the country cools off at night.
The White House has shown interest in an "economy mode" option that
could be used in the event of a budgetary crisis, but it is still
unknown whether such a massive unit would qualify for an Energy Star
certification, let alone accommodate built-in money-saving features.
The strongest opposition to the plan has come from Canada. Because
the proposed National Air Conditioner would cover 90 percent of the
state of North Dakota and face south, the U.S.'s northern neighbor
would be directly in the path of superheated air expelled from the
machine's back vents. Though Prime Minister Stephen Harper said this
would create drought conditions and devastate their farmlands, most
believe Canada lacks the clout to halt Bush's air-conditioning agenda.
American air conditioner manufacturers, with whom President Bush
reportedly consulted extensively prior to announcing the initiative,
will soon be awarded tens of trillions of dollars to design and build
the components necessary for the giant unit. Industry leader Lennox is
expected to receive at least $30 trillion, including a massive
installation fee, while the Carrier Corporation, Trane, and Amana are
all jockeying for the next largest contracts.
"Global warming threatens us all, whether we're mowing our lawns,
rafting down a river in a national park, or driving to the end of the
driveway to get our mail," Bush said. "The task that lies ahead is
undeniably hard. But if we do not succeed, we will be profoundly
inconvenienced. And I promise you: America will not let that happen."
Speaking at a Democratic National Committee fundraiser Monday night,
Al Gore said that now that Bush has taken up the cause of global
warming, the former vice president and environmental activist will
redirect his energies toward developing a personal spacecraft capable
of transporting a family of four to a distant planet.
This is Fantastic!

Let's face facts....
April 1, 2008 - 16:29 ET by vrwc13"...you created them..."
Nope, "You (God) created me in my mother's womb"
"...and made them believe in your beliefs..."
Nope, no way, they decided on their own to believe, doesn't count if we do it (i.e. infant baptism, church confirmation, etc).
"...if one of them decided to say no to your belief..."
Nope, it's their belief, they accepted it.
"...would you still support them in the same way as the other children in the family..."
We will support all our children the same, regardless of what decisions they make. But for all intents and purposes, they have already made a decision which is irrevocable, so all their future decisions are "couched" in that.
"...Again...your way or the highway?..."
'My way' as long as they are "under my roof", not applicable to their faith, that's their business.
...we follow God's lead, if it's not their choice, then it's not real freedom or free will.
v

"You (God) created me in my mother's womb" -
I ain't your daddy nor am I a God (even though, I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night!) But...Immaculate conception? You're joking?
Indoctrination starts early in every religion. Of course, the children "decided" on the correct path. At what age did they become fully cognizant of a deity? What if they stopped believing and started questioning with reason on the path they were following? No turning back at all? "A decision which is irrevocable"?
"Under your roof" infers an authoritarian rule. So if you were to say, "We, as a family, are all going to church." you would naturally expect them to merrily follow along without any arguments or dissent, correct? If one of your kids, now 18 yrs old, decided not to go, would you tell them to take a hike?
Freedom and free will given to them by...?

1)It states that "Women are born with a finite number of eggs. At birth, a
woman has around 1 to 2 million eggs. However, throughout her life, a
woman loses eggs through a destructive process called atresia. At
puberty, only around 400,000 eggs remain. Throughout the reproductive
life span, from puberty until menopause, women lose about 1,000 eggs each
month. Of these thousand eggs, only one is released. Once released, it is
picked up by the fallopian tube. If a couple has sexual intercourse around
this time, fertilization (the joining of the egg and sperm) may take place."
God created you by placing an egg in your mom and a sperm in your dad, of which when joined became you.
2)Our children have been raised in a Christain home, but have accepted their faith on their own. They have also been "educated" in other beliefs throughout their schooling.
3) It's God (the Father) who says that if you receive His Son (Jesus) that no one can "snatch" you from His hand. So if they accept Jesus as Lord and Savior on their own, by His Word (not mine), it is irreversable.
4) The Bible also teaches children to honor and obey their parents, age 18 is man's law not God's.

News Alert!! Christians teach Christianity
April 8, 2008 - 02:53 ET by RGonz71I couldn't find any actual scientific evidence on how God put each item into my parents to back up your claim.
God created all matter we know as our existence so by extension he created us, whether you believe in him or not. You're looking for science to answer something that it can never answer since God exists outside the Universe. He is not bound by the laws of science since he created them. I really don't see why this is so hard to understand. Now you could say you don't believe God created everything so therefore he did not create us but to ask for humanly evidence of something that does not physically exist in our universe is not logical.
2. Hardly a choice at home- no other reference material but one book. "Educated in other beliefs" by you?!? "This is a good religion, this one is an evil one, this one is crazy...etc.", something like that?
Why should there be choice at home? Democracy is for nations not for households. Why should he teach his children something he believes to be harmful to them? Are you suggesting aetheists should teach their children about Christianity? If you're not a Christian will you teach your children about Jesus or are Christians the only ones that must forsake their beliefs to satisfy secularists and/or atheists?
3. Doesn't Islam teach the same thing? If you believe in the Bible and everything it says...Don't let them do Yoga or else you're going to have to stone them to death.
No they don't. Islam does not teach that Jesus is our Lord and Saviour. To them Jesus is only a prophet. They also believe the bible has been corrupted by Jews and Christians so again, why should he teach his children this if he believes salvation comes through Christ? As far as stoning is concerned, talk to a Muslim. They're the only ones left who still practice that.
Children crave direction and authority and as the last 20-30 years have shown, letting children, whom by definition don't know any better, make choices for themselves is harmful not only to them but to society at large. It is the responsibility of good parents to lead and make decisions for their children, not to give them choices like the dollar menu at McDonalds.
