New Obama Ad Compares Voting for Him to Losing Virginity

The other day, a study came out suggesting that the advertising being released by President Obama's re-election team is actually having the opposite of its intended effect. Instead of firing up his former 2008 voters to cast their ballots again for him, the ads that Obama's people are putting out are actually firing up former John McCain voters to turn out against Obama.

It's tough to argue with that conclusion after having viewed the campaign's latest spot, a dopey attempt at humor  featuring little-known hipster actress Lena Dunham comparing voting for Obama to having sex.

"Your first time shouldn't be with just anybody. You wanna do it with a great guy," Dunham begins. "It should be with a guy with beautiful--someone who really cares and understands women. A guy who cares whether you get health insurance, specifically whether you get birth control."

Naturally, she does not state that the birth control will be paid for by other people, regardless of whether or not they have religious objections to it. No mention also that religious hospitals and charity organizations who insure their own employees are going to have to actually pay for their employees to have abortions.

"You wanna do it with a guy who brought the troops out of Iraq," Dunham adds later, echoing a previous idiot celebrity ad put out by the Obama camp starring the ever-irritating Sarah Jessica Parker.

The ad is below. Watch it if you have the stomach to listen to a nauseating spiel from the creator of the awful HBO show Girls as she patronizes young women voters. For those who don't want to watch, continue on past the video to read the transcript in all of its idiocy.

Your first time shouldn't be with just anybody. You wanna do it with a great guy. It should be with a guy with beautiful--someone who really cares and understands women. A guy who cares whether you get health insurance, specifically whether you get birth control.

The consequences are huge. You wanna do it with a guy who brought the troops out of Iraq. You don't wanna guy who says 'Oh hey I'm at the library studying,' when really he's out not signing the Lilly Ledbetter Act. Or who thinks that gay people should never have beautiful, complicated weddings like the kind we see on Bravo or TLC all the time.

It's a fun game to say 'Who are you voting for?' and they say 'I don't wanna tell you,' and you say 'No, who are you voting for?' and they go 'Guess!'

Think about how you wanna spend those four years. In college-age time, that's 150 years.

It's also super uncool to be out and about and somebody says 'Did you vote?' and you go 'No, I didn't vote, I wasn't ready.'

My first time voting was amazing. It was this line in the sand. Before, I was a girl, now I was a woman.' I went to the polling station. I pulled back the curtain. I voted for Barack Obama!

This ad really gives new meaning to the old saw that Republicans fall in line while Democrats fall in love. How utterly patronizing and demeaning to women. No wonder a new poll indicates that female voters are drifting toward Mitt Romney.

Update 12:38. Blogger Emily Zanotti did a little bit of digging and it turns out, Dunham actually used and dumped a college boy to lose her virginity. Is that what Obama wanted to do to America after the first time it voted for him?

Update 13:03. Ace gives the ad the mockery it justly deserves:

It underlines the essential triviality of Obama and his Government Client & Upper Upper Class White Voter agenda. There is nothing to his campaign except very small social-progressive appeals to people who are simply not affected by the economy, whether they are too poor to notice a bad economy, immunized from the economy by being a government worker, or so rich they have nothing at all to fear from a bad economy.
