Bias in Even the Smallest Things
Sometimes it's the little things that reveal the persistent liberal Democratic bias in the elite media. Writing in the American Spectator, Jeffrey Lord notes that the recent media kerfuffle over the fact that Mitt Romney's wife, Ann, enjoys riding horses is actually demonstrative of how journalists seemingly cannot help themselves.
You see, the media were not always so averse to presidential spouses enjoying equestrian activities. Back when John F. Kennedy's wife, Jackie, enjoyed them, they were regarded in a much different light by the left-dominated media:
What was one of the most notable stylistic aspects of the Kennedy presidency that had Georgetown parlors and the liberal media of the day swooning with admiration?
Exactly. They loved Jackie Kennedy -- specifically they absolutely adored that the First Lady was an accomplished horsewoman. Scenes like this video of Jackie riding with her children in the Virginia hunt country - as JFK watched from nearby -- were staples of the liberal media, the only media, of the day. If one grew up in the Kennedy era it is recognized instantly, particularly the scene where Caroline's horse "Macaroni" is nibbling on JFK as the President laughs. Horseback riding as Mrs. Kennedy pursued it was an expensive hobby then -- as now. And this fact was lavishly presented to the American public as a sign of class -- both financial class and as in "classy."
What was the big story about Ann Romney the other day? Take a look at Breitbart.com where they have neatly caught onto the sneering elitism that is falsely ascribed to Ann Romney because -- yes indeed -- just like Jackie Kennedy, Ann Romney rides horses. With one very big difference. In Mrs. Romney's case horseback riding was prescribed as therapy for her multiple sclerosis. Now, however, as was true with a big front page story in the New York Times, Republican Ann Romney is involved with a "rarified sport." Translation: Mrs. Romney is a snob. What's fabulous for Jackie is snooty for Ann.
Expect more such small examples of liberal bias to come out as the general election campaign moves along.

I saw that when it came out last week, and thought it was a perfect piece on liberal media bias.
Where is all of the liberal angst over John Kerry's yacht, the one he's parking over in the next state to dodge paying sales tax on?
Attacking Anne Romney isn't going to win Obama any votes. (I hope they keep it up). She is a totally sympathetic, lovely woman.....and if the truth be told, her having horses is good for the economy. Farriers are very expensive (they were when I had horses, and that was many moons ago), as is feed, hay, saddles and other horse "stuff", trailers, etc., etc. Stupid media, she's creating jobs.

That its always been about the liberal media, and how they exalt their own and hold disdain for the "others"-meaning Republicans.
Horse Drawn Carriage, anyone?

Mrs. Romney riding a horse? That's soooo elitist! Al Gore and his wife in a horse drawn carriage? That's soooo natural!

It doesn't matter. Anything that they can use to lambaste Romney will be used, regardless whether it was admired when a Democrat did it. In this case, the Queen of Camelot was the epitome of American class and taste and her activities and entertainments were admired breathlessly (just like her voice as she showed us around the White House).
For the suck-up media, the purpose is to keep the fire on Romney. Plus, the SUM is made up of a bunch of drones who sniff the bush and pee on it if some big dog already anointed it with a 'meme' or 'trope,' which they then repeat almost verbatim for days or weeks on end.
Well, since we're always accused of speaking in code:

Only liberals can be lovers of swine!
My Darling daughter graduated from a PRIVATE Catholic ALL FEMALE High School last night, (Happy Dance 1 (Temple University - Engineering next (that SHOULD be a Happy Dance))
She loves her chestnut thoroughbred "Ben," unconditionally, and he returns that love every time they ride as one together.
As her UNEMPLOYED, but militarily retired father, I have an obligation to her education and her passion.
She in turn is a serious consumer of the days politics, and can interpret and apply both The Constitution and the Flag Code and always views the MSM with a very critical eye.
She will vote in Nov for the FIRST TIME, and it ain't gonna be for Obummer. (Happy Dance 2)
So much so that she corrected the flag bearer at Graduation last night to tell her that the American flag must ALWAYS be carried vertically, for it shall dip to no king or potentate.
God, I love being her father.
Congratulations Desk Pilot

Graduation always seems just around the corner.
We sent our children to Catholic schools too. All four are out of college, married and employed. Thank God the Almighty for that.
There's nothing more intimidating than having your kid bring home the intended for the first parental look-over. That puts all of those years into perspective!
