Not Tricked This Time: YouTube Pulls Video Critical of Gay Rights Extremists

By Matthew Sheffield | May 18, 2012 | 10:06

Matthew Sheffield's picture

In a victory for gay rights extremists, YouTube has agreed to remove a video critical of Canadian laws concerning homosexuality from its website, even though the video discusses policy issues and does not use any derogatory language about gays and does not advocate violence against them.

The video created May 16 by preacher and hard rock drummer Bradlee Dean to accompany his weekly column published by WorldNet Daily and other news outlets, exposes facts about the hatred and oppression directed at conservative Christians and opponents of gay marriage in Canada by the radical Left toward people of faith, those who hold to traditional marriage. The video also details a solemn warning to American’s to get vocal on the issue or prepare for the cultural overhaul under way in Canada.

Story Continues Below Ad ↓

Among the shocking examples of how gay rights extremists are using hate speech laws to silence conservatives is a ruling by a Canadian official that Christian parents who home-school their children can not teach their children that homosexuality is a sin.

Within 2 hours, the video was taken offline by YouTube after it was flagged by a discriminatory individual for “hate speech.”

The video now appears in its original version on MRCTV.

While conservatives are often victimized by the Left's abuse of automated “flag spam” filters, in this case it appears that YouTube personnel were directly involved in removing the video. This is the text of the email YouTube sent to Bradlee informing him of YouTube's decision to remove the video:

The YouTube Community has flagged one or more of your videos as inappropriate. Once a video is flagged, it is reviewed by the YouTube Team against our Community Guidelines. Upon review, we have determined that the following video(s) contain content in violation of these guidelines, and have been disabled: Homosexual Marriage (WARNING!) Look to Canada – (BdeanSonsofLiberty). For more information on YouTube's Community Guidelines and how they are enforced, please visit the help center.

Nothing in Bradlee's video violated YouTube's Community Guidelines. Here is the video, you can watch it yourself:

Those guidelines include this statement:

We encourage free speech and defend everyone's right to express unpopular points of view. But we don't permit hate speech (speech which attacks or demeans a group based on race or ethnic origin, religion, disability, gender, age, veteran status, and sexual orientation/gender identity).”

Bradlee's video did not attack or demean gays – it addressed serious policy questions raised by actual events and political decisions in Canada. By taking Bradlee's video offline, YouTube has shown its commitment to “defend everyone's right to express unpopular points of view” isn't all that strong when it comes to defending the right of people opposed to gay marriage.

No matter what you think of gay marriage, people who think it's wrong have just as much of a right to oppose it as the Occupiers to do be against banks or the Iraq war. You don't have to be against gay marriage to think the removal of Bradlee's clip was wrong. Tolerance ought to run both ways.

So, does YouTube routinely remove videos of people denouncing others of being "homophobes"? Of being racists (because they have the temerity of criticizing the Obama)? etc. Or is that protected speech?

I am not asking rhetorical questions, this is something I do not know.

And I have to live with this!

Submitted by DumbCanuck on Fri, 05/18/2012 - 10:44am.

Been living with this crap for almost 10 years now, and it's getting worse. Google (I mean "search" using you're preferred search engine) for Ontario's proposed Bill 13.

Marriage is a lost cause up here. I'm more focussed on turning the tide against the ha-UGE abortion lobby. Canada's abortion "laws" (there aren't any) are akin to North Korea's, and even worse, it's all funded by the taxpayer -- right up to the moment of birth.

Dr. Henry Morgentaler, infamous abortionist, has been adorned by this country's highest honour, the Order of Canada.

Now we have this:

and this:

Any wonder why I'm so disillusioned?

Move down here!

Submitted by GW on Fri, 05/18/2012 - 11:08am.

There are plenty of Ontario and Quebec license plates down here in South Florida. Except for the lack of hockey and the warmth, you just might feel at home.

I'm really just campaigning for more conservatives to come down here.

But, I've been following LifeSite for years now. What do you think of (Arch?) Bishop LaCroix (spelling?)?

Addendum:
If Florida goes Tango-Uniform, I'm thinking that I'd move my fam to Texas. So, what's it like there? Any state that has Doc Sam already has something going for it.

You’re welcome to come to Arizona...

Submitted by Grumpy in Arizona on Fri, 05/18/2012 - 11:14am.

…and stay longer than the thousands of other Canadians who only stay during the winter… driving their RV’s at 25 mph in the fast lanes, making right turns from the center lane, taking tables for eight so both of them can have the $1 taco special and a couple of beers and then leave a 50 cent tip…
….Hmmm, come to think about it, I applaud your willingness to stay in Canada and fight the good fight! :o)

Submitted by DumbCanuck on Fri, 05/18/2012 - 1:32pm.

Quebec drivers all right... No... check that. Quebec drivers would be doing 1 HUNDRED and 25 mph and make right turns from the LEFT lane!

Seriously... Thanks for all the invites. It has crossed my mind, but Grumpy is right. I have to stay -- at least for the time being. God knows this country needs all the sanity it can get, and yes, there's a few of us still hangin' around, so I'll be just doing my part.

I do have a few states I thought I would like to live in, though. Not New York, or Californika. Rather Texas, Arizona, or any of the 31 or 32 states that banned SSM, more recently NC. From what I've read, The western half has a climate similar to what I've grown accustomed to...

Submitted by rbosque on Fri, 05/18/2012 - 10:53am.

This is not a surprise. The left believes only they have first amendment rights. They shout down conservative speakers at colleges, they turn off microphones at MSNBC interviews, the media only turn their cameras to left-wing causes, Twitter has sensored, Facebook has censored, they try to censor Rush Limbaugh and all conservative broadcasters with the "fairness act" or derivatives thereof, they try to shut down Fox news, the denounce the Koch brothers and others who contribute to Conservative politicians or causes, they squelch conservative voices by not allowing them a voice on network discussion panels, and now they threaten churches with taxes for speaking up against the gov't's assault on faith.

This is just another battle in their war against thought other than their own. And they still think they're "tolerent"...

Totalitarianism is the only means…

Submitted by Grumpy in Arizona on Fri, 05/18/2012 - 11:00am.

…the ‘progressive’s’ have to inflict their perverted ideas upon a God loving society.

Evidently, in Canada, the ‘Human Rights’ Commissions don’t consider the right to worship and believe in God’s Commandments to be a human-right. However, the argument here is whether U-tube has the right to pull any video that they deem offensive… Yes they do, even at the cost of being labeled sick, perverted, cowardly pieces of PC loving scum.

If ever there was an example of truism to the old phrase “No Guts – No Glory” - This is it! Both the government of Canada and U-tube have shown absolutely no guts in standing-up for traditional human values.

Double standard??????? Nah, of course not. Just go away. Guess what? I am too old to care what you say about me for what I believe. I will tell anyone anytime I get a chance. Homosexuality is WRONG.

If the definition of marriage is changed, what does the definition become? What about people who believe in polygamy? When will the definition of polygamy be changed from what it has always been?

Isn't YouTube owned by Google?

Submitted by c5then on Fri, 05/18/2012 - 11:11am.

Google is very liberal and it's corporate officers are big Obama supporters.

It's ironic that the liberal media (both new and old) in censoring conservative and religious points of view, are creating a divided society, which is the very thing that they pretend to bemoan and wring their hands about. As they censor these viewpoints more and more it drives them to conservative outlets. Thus, very soon, we will have a segregated internet where liberal sites only host liberal viewpoints and conservative sites host only conservative viewpoints.

I checked out the link in this article, it looks like the video is back on YouTube.

Whoever flagged the video might have been responding to the language of the video and terms like "homosexual agenda" which to a lot of people sounds paranoid , although that's hardly an excuse since there are plenty of videos on YouTube paranoid about religious people.

Well, that was thoroughly

Submitted by RR GOP on Sat, 05/19/2012 - 12:15am.

Well, that was thoroughly nauseating.

So, we're supposed to accept as normal the act of a grown man sticking his penis inside of a young boy's rectum. Huh. Guess I'm just one of those who haven't moved into the 21st Century according to Shemp Smith.

Aside from the prospect of young Canadian boys being molested and raped, there is the faint bright side that the fags will move to Canada...but, no, on second thought if this goes down in Canada then they'll certainly want it here...and they'd get their way, too.

Then years on, it will be 12 year olds...

These heterosexual pedophiles that get rounded up every once in a while would be smart to be sure to include some pics and clips of children of the same sex, so when they get caught their ACLU lawyers and psychologists will get the charges dismissed based upon the state's attempted persecution of homosexuals.

I told people 20 years that this was how it was going to go down eventually, and I was dismissed as being a silly hysteric.
